Happy birthday mumcha and redandyellow!

I'm just back from the dentist, cracked a tooth on Sunday and finally got an appointment. First needle had no effect, so got assured I wouldn't feel the second one going into the top jaw. Bloody well did feel it, then got half my tooth pulled out - waaah. Feel like an old lady now, am only 32. At least it was the back of the tooth, near the back of my mouth. The numbness set in on the way back to the car and now I can't feel most of my face. Really hope it doesn't ache when this wears off.

Off to be miserable somewhere else .

p.s. hope everyone else is having a better day!!

harmonyb23 · 07/05/2010 16:28

Happy birthday Mumcha and RedandYellow! Hope you have had a lovely day so far.

Glad your scan went well Privet must have been a bit weird having to explain to the midwife that you had already had your notes done But at least everything is going well.

I have been having some pains in my abdomen the last couple of days, it is like a stabbing pain. I have spoken to my midwife and have been looking online and all sources seem to suggest it is ligament stretching. Is anyone else suffering with this? It feels like a sharp, stabbing pain in my side and abdominal muscles, quite uncomfortable really . I am usually quite good with pain and didn't experience this last time round (not that I can remember).

Ebb · 07/05/2010 17:49

Happy birthday Mumcha and Redandyellow! It's my sister birthday today and mine was on Wednesday.

Harmony I've been getting similar pains. I'm certain I didn't get them with Ds. I kind of thought everything would have stretched with the first. I was a lot fitter and toned from horse riding before getting pregnant with Ds but this time it's all flab!

I had some bleeding this morning so the midwife sent me to the EPU. Luckily a scan showed heartbeat and baby waving quite merrily. No reason for the bleeding but I'm going to take it easy for a few days. The midwife who refered me rang me tonight to check everything was ok which I thought was really nice. I remember feeling a little down after my mc that nobody rang to see how I was. Not sure if that's the norm or not?

BellaC · 07/05/2010 18:16

happy birthday Mumcha and Redandyellow and Stuffedmk - I'm so sorry

I am twelve weeks today - had a scan last week as Id had some bleeding but baby is doing well, fast heartbeat- which can indicate a girl - but have my nuchal scan in about ten days time ..

I think - well am pretty sure - that I have just felt movement for the first time too - which is lovely and will help me feel a little reassured that everything is going to plan if I can feel something ..

I am dithering between a Stokke and a Babyjogger city mini ... I have issues with my knees and so need something easy to push, and relatively light... gotta try and see which works out for the best ..too superstitious to buy it yet though !

Im still injecting my lovely blood thinners and taking my aspirin .. I also am struggling with migraines and have started having acupuncture in desperation after a horrendous headache that would not shift ..
I am having acupuncture every ten days or so and it has helped enormously ..
Might be something to try ?

I have to confesss that I struggle tokeep up with you on here - so i will have to pop in and out as and when i can ! Hopefully I can keep up with the best part of it !!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend - we are off to sign the papers on our new rented house tomorrow - I cant wait !
And then onto my mum's to show her my scan pic ...

Hope you all have happy healthy weekends

Sabie · 07/05/2010 18:20

HAPPY BIRTHDAY mumcha and Redandyellow. Great ages for you both! I will be 38 on Tuesday!

PrivetDancer; so good to hear your scan went well, haven't seen post from Gaga82 yet who was also today but hopefully she's having a celebratory smoothie somewhere!

Had my scan today! Was so relieved to be told baby with heartbeat that I burst out crying and had to be 'calmed down' before all the measurements could be taken . DH was very calm but also looked a little flushed for him. He had also got me the loveliest pair of earrings and gave them to me on the bus on the way home, it was kind of romantic (for an old couple!)

1.4mm for nuchal; think that's ok?
Date stayed same. I am SO RELIEVED. Now I can join in the shopping talk! Now what page is that list on...???

Gaga82 · 07/05/2010 19:24

Hi,

Sabie and Privetdancer it was a hat trick of successful scans then today! Wonderful! Was so relieved and happy to see something in there wriggling around like mad! Was amazed at how clear the scans were, was so teary. Keep gushing over the photos, although we have a scary looking forward facing one, slightly alien like...

My date has now changed though, as I am now a week ahead of what I thought (13+2), so will update list (or try to!) Now to enjoy the weekend.

Have a good one all

Gaga82 · 07/05/2010 19:27

Gaga82 so glad to hear you also had a good day (and that you too were teary!).

Have you been telling others already or are you going to start now? I was so focused on getting to today I hadn't really worked it out that we won't be seeing parents for a few weeks due to holidays, the in laws living in Ireland. I don't want to tell siblings before parents but it means we haven't anyone to tell for ages...

Fenouille · 07/05/2010 19:58

Happy birthday Mumcha and Redandyellow - hope you're both having lovely days!

Great to hear the good scan news

It's been a busy a week! Had my combined NT/blood/age results back on Monday - risk is lower than 1/5000 so quite reassuring. Yesterday we completed the purchase on our flat. And today we had our first parental planning lesson.

It was a bit more couple counselling than anything else but overall we found it quite useful. We talked about the cycle of life and the fact that our responses today are conditioned by things that happened in the past when you were a child. So in order to be open to your child (who can sense your real emotions) you need to understand why you respond in certain ways to things. Pregnancy is a good time to do this as your emotions are heightened and you're more open. We've got some homework - identify things that upset you so you can understand and resolve things that happened in your infancy, start to pay attention to how and why you get angry, write a dream diary. Some of it's a bit happy-clappy but it's nice to hear my DH talking about this kind of thing as we don't normally.

Oof, that was a bit heavy, hope I'm not boring you all

Also - thanks to all of you posting practical advice, it is amazingly helpful.

Fenouille · 07/05/2010 20:01

Oh, harmony, I forgot to say that I'm having those pains too. My gyn didn't seem too concerned when I first mentioned having them and they seem to be dying down now.

Had the first scan today :-)

First attempt had the baby head down and back to the scanner so we got sent out to walk round the hospital for a bit but the second attempt was good, nice pictures, small nunchal (sp?)measurement, lots of movement (and only one...i was terrified she would see two in there). Had another blood test too, have a huge bruise. The blood test nurse said I have thick skin and should moisturise more! Nice!

The scan nurse revised my due date so I've updated the list

Yay for lots of good scans today

Gaga82 · 07/05/2010 22:01

Yes, a day of good news. Wonderful. Long may it continue.

Sabie We had just told family and close friends up to today, but now have gone global! Feels so good to tell people! We told our inlaws over the phone in week 7, then saw them 3 weeks later.

FourEyesGood · 07/05/2010 22:14

Hello! More news for this good news Friday!

I've mostly just been lurking, and making the occasional non-committal comment, because I've been waiting until today to be added to the list. For no real reason, I've been paranoid for this pregnancy and didn't want to jinx it until I'd had a scan.

Went today and saw a real, wriggling, waving baby! Such a relief - and it was so nice to be able to tell my colleagues when I went into work late after an unspecified "appointment". This'll be my second baby, and it's due on November 14th (4 days earlier than I'd expected). Please can I be added to the list?

FourEyesGood · 07/05/2010 22:15

Oh, and I'm 31, if that matters!

bunnygirl80 · 08/05/2010 01:15

Loopymumsy thanks for that excellent sling review. I have another question now! Does it get hot for baby in the sling? With me being in Oz I'm having a summer baby and daytime temps are likely to be 30-35degrees so I'm wondering if carrying baby so close to my body is going to result in overheating (for them and me!)

I think I'll have to take a look at the brands on the market over here and see if they summer ones out of nice lightweight fabric.

foureyesgood congrats on the scan and welcome to the thread

gaga sabie and privet congrats on your good scans

harmony I've been getting loads of stretching and stabbing pains over the last few days. It even wakes me up at night when I roll over. I think it's ligaments being stretched as the uterus starts to rise up out of the pelvis.

I've definitely started on the pg dreams now. The other night I dreamt I was a hired assassin who could kill people by just pointing at the and saying "pow pow"! Last night I just had a series of very raunchy dreams - I'm not very imaginative though as they all involved DH!

Hi everyone,

Im not preg, still ttc, but just wanted to pop on and say hello and congratulations to Bubblebell!!! I hope ive got the right person

and congrats to everyone else too

Sabie · 08/05/2010 10:39

Congrats to Mibby and Foureyesgood on adding to Good News Friday! I hope this good run continues into next week and beyond for all of you still waiting scans.

Wondered if we could have some chatter about birth plans/choices? I have already made one decision that means I can't have a home birth (though I wanted to go in anyway so it doesnt matter) but would like to be better informed next time I have to make a decision. Time to buy a couple of books I think.

Fenouille · 08/05/2010 11:12

Congratulations and welcome to the thread proper FourEyesGood! Loopy I was wondering how you can possibly end up with so many wraps and slings but every time you post a link I think - Wow! I want that one And you're right about the classes. I'm feeling more confident then I ever have that I can do this! Which is just as well, as I'm going to have to in a few months

Well, I'm off out to do the food shopping; our bio box was delivered yesterday so I have to work out what to do with 500g of beetroot!

Oh, and a warning-ish: I bought this dress and while it's lovely, light and will be perfect for summers down here (south of France), if any of you are thinking of getting it be aware that a) there is no give in the upper part, so size it carefully for boobage expansion, and b) the material is Princess Diana engagement thin so not for the body conscious!

Have a lovely Saturday everyone.

PrivetDancer · 08/05/2010 12:27

Well sabie, I need to decide whether to go for a homebirth this time. I planned one last time but I had to go into hospital In the end as my waters went 2 days before I went in to labour so had to have iv antibiotics.

I really can't decide this time, didn't mind the hospital as much as I thought I would, and now they have had a revamp apparently and it's more of a birthing centre with ensuite rooms / birthpools etc.

What other decisions do you have to make in advance? I can't remember!

I opted not to have the jab to release the placenta but then ended up with it taking an hour to get the damn placenta out (I did have the jab after about 15 mins and they said it probably would have been stuck anyway). Seemed to be stuck due to extremely full bladder - make sure you go for regular wees when in labour

nomoremagnolia · 08/05/2010 12:49

Phew! Finally read through all 525 posts at last! Sorry to pop in with the bad news about Bella and then run away earlier. So sorry to hear the other bad news too Thoroughly pleased to see 'good news friday' how lovely that so many of you all had good scans together
I'm fine 15 weeks now and I (amazingly) found myself forgetting I was pg the other day! It had been our secret for so long, then we told everyone - and I mean everyone - and now it feels a bit like it's all over in a strange way, at least until I have an undeniable bump anyway. I'm on my own now for 4 1/2 months as DH is away with the military, so I will be popping in more regularly hopefully. Partly as I haven't got anyone to talk to here and partly because the internet will be on much more often as it is the main way I can stay in touch with DH.
Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend
