Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

David Cameron, Dappy and massacres, 'Dream' is not the term I'd choose, If I have nightmares involving any of those things tonight I shall be holding the three of you accountable!

BorisTheBold · 06/05/2010 18:25

Ha ha ha, my dream was pretty enjoyable until Mr C popped up!!

mumcha · 06/05/2010 19:14

lol my dream was gd was laughing that loud in my sleep bout my partner using a vibrator as a phone i woke him up .

Fenouille · 06/05/2010 20:02

I've got the crazy dreams too but no sex or massacres yet!

And mumcha, you are freakishly organised! Oh gawd, Christmas shopping already...

Thanks for the info about the British birth preparation methods. Actually it's the same here with most courses only concentrating on the giving birth bit. We seem to have got lucky with our doctor although the course doesn't really go into actually what to do with the baby when it's arrived! I have also found a midwife here who does doula-type post-natal support. Which is great because in France there are ZERO home visits. Just medical checks at the doctors surgery once a month to make sure you aren't killing it I only found that out on Monday and I haven't stopped hyperventilating yet

Now I'm also feeling stressed out about prams. You're all so organised and knowledgeable. Although I'm leaning towards slings (mostly because the seem easier to understand ).

BorisTheBold · 06/05/2010 20:08

feels slightly embarrassed to admit I have bought the pram already. In my defence it's second hand, but looks brand new. M&P Skate, with car seat (never used) and isofix base various accessories including inserts, mats, matching changing bag, parasol, cup holder (lol) and other bits. Cost £250 in total, which I can live with as I've still got a umbrella buggy if needed and the P&T e3 (which is battered after 4 years of use but still perfectly useable).

All seems a bit too real now!

Oh i will definately be pushchairing at some point, my 3 are all big enough to walk, I did use high st carriers and didnt like them so the second discussion please, I am 5ft2, smallish and always found slings hurt my back. If I can find a comfy one then I will be very happy.

Happy Birthday mumcha! Hope you have a lovely day

Good uck all for the scans.

Also, if you want to stay away from scary dreams DO NOT watch scary films, such as Law Abiding Citizen before bed!

kawaiiko · 07/05/2010 12:06

Just a quick question - who else on here is having multicultural babies? How will you pick a name? Just started a name thread (would love to see you there for opinions!) as dh (who is Japanese) and I (English) have opened the discussion on names already as we are going to find it tough to agree!

Ps kyuri, do you have a Japanese connection or are just a big cucumber fan?

b00kw0rm · 07/05/2010 13:07

Happy birthday to mumcha- hope you get to put your feet up! And good luck to polldancer, sabie and gaga for scans today...
Kawaiiko- A friend of mine with Japanese/English DS went for Joe and they're having another soon, so I can let you know what they go for as they talked about names LOTS to make sure they 'worked' in both languages/cultures.
Also, loving all the sling talk- used a stretchy wrap with DD loads when she was wee, didn't even go in the buggy once until she was at least 3/4 months. We did have a BabyBjorn too, despite all the negative stuff I've since read about them, we both, especially DH used it a lot. These days, we have a ring-sling and pouch for hip carries and an Ergo for back carries on long walks. I would second Loopymumsy's enthusiasm for slings and may also feel the need to increase my stash before too long!
No weird dreams here, but am struggling with sleep (i.e. getting enough of it!) as DD who was previously an excellent sleeper has started waking up between 5-6
I've also been having more spotting over the past few days, which is worrying, but at the dating scan sonographer did say to expect more bleeding, so I'm hoping it's just the same bleed site having a final gush?

Kyuri · 07/05/2010 13:46

Happy birthday mumcha! kwaiiko, the only connection is my love of sushi - when I went to Japan first I ate my weight in kyurimaki.

Looking forward to the sling pros and cons loopy!

Very excited today as this evening we are going to see DH's parents to FINALLY tell them the news. We're heading to see my parents over the weekend (ash cloud permitting) to tell them and then will tell friends next week. Am 14+4 and DH and I are still the only people who know so it will be great to start sharing the excitement with others .

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

mumcha · 07/05/2010 13:56

Thank you every1 for the birthday wishes .Goodluck to every1 with scans today .

PrivetDancer · 07/05/2010 15:26

my scan went well
saw a baby and it was wriggling lots

I measured a bit further along from my earlier scan, not as far as i would be from the dates, so that seems quite reasonable. Therefore I am officially 12 weeks tomorrow and can start to get excited now
nuchal measurement was 1.2mm so nice and small, will get full results in a week or two

Only annoying part was that I hadn't met my midwife first (booking in appointment has just happened this afternoon), so initially they said I couldn't have the scan as nobody had talked me through it.. Then they found a midwife to talk me through it and started my notes and let me have a scan. Then they did bloods for both the nuchal scan and the booking bloods (was glad to get them done at the hospital as they tend to be better at doing them).
But then the midwife turned up this afternoon for the booking in with her own set of notes and seemed quite annoyed with me for having some as she had already done labels etc and they were wasted... grr.

anyhow, all good.

That's great Privet!

It's my birthday today too Mumcha! 34 today! Eek. I have been out for lunch and am going out for dinner too lucky me.

kawaiiko we are going to have a hard enough time finding names full stop. Floated a few around already and he hates all the ones I like but has no suggestions of this own. The surname issue has caused many an argument already as we are not married. I think we need to settle that one first.

PS my dreams are all so dull, have dreamt of hoovering and cleaning the fridge and I always wake up feeling really cheated that my imagination is so boring.
