Mibby - pg1, age 32, EDD 11th Nov

15% off Isabella Oliver and free delivery: enter "OCADOLIFE" at the checkout. Valid until 31st May.

Still friggin expensive, though, and covered with pictures of idiotically vacant-looking women.

mumcha · 05/05/2010 21:06

Well i started xmas shopping tonight lol i got my oldest son dj decks of my cousin lol so that is his big present in.omg just realised how sad i must seem getting xmas stuff already but he gave me a really gd deal and its what my son wants .Help think im losing the plot

4madboys · 05/05/2010 21:42

mumcha it may be what he wants NOW i hope it still is in december, if he is anything like my boys they change their minds ALL the time!

i am still really struggling with sickness, its awful, constant pukey taste in my mouth, belching helps a little bit but not much, also horrible headaches which make me feel even more sick! i am almost 11wks? and i am sure i was not this sick wiht my other pregnancies, i do remember having headaches, but again not this bad.

re pushchairs, i have tried out the icandy ones, and found them to be too heavy and a pita to change seat postions etc so discounted them.

may have a look at the jogger one that has been mentioned, but tbh think i am going to just stick with either the bugaboo with ds4 on the buggyboard, or baby in sling, probably my close sling or the wilkinet.

i am just going to get the bloods done at the hospital when i have my dating scan, tho if there is a huge wait i shall just not bother and book another app with my midwife!

my nuchal scan is the day after my dating scan (private) and they will take the blood for that there and then.

right i am off to get something to eat so i can hopefully feel less sick then watch desperate housewives. (which incidentaly keeps making me cry and as lynette has lost one of her twins

4madboys · 05/05/2010 21:49

oh imeant to say, the sex thing ie telling older siblings HOW the baby gets in your tummy! well my ten year old understands all the basics.... and a bit more, usborne do a good book called facts of life? i think.

my younder ones are 7, 5 and 2, the 7 yr old not interseted at all in how the baby get there, the 5 yr old more so and i told him that mummy has an egg that meets with a special seed from daddy and then grows into a baby, he has yet to ask how the special seed from daddy gets there! to begin with i just said the baby grew from an egg and added more detail as they showed an interest or asked. i think kids will ask when they are ready to know, natural curiosity gets the better of them!

tbh on the whole we are quite open with our boys, a very kissy cuddly family and also happy with nudity in the house, so i see the boys naked, they see me and dp naked and its normal and natural even our ten year old isnt embarrassed to be naked around us (and lots of kids his age are)

reading that back it sounds like we are naturist in our home!! lol we arent but in the mornings when getting up and evenings when getting ready for bed, bathtimes, going to the toilet etc, the boys will walk in on us on the loo, in the bath and come and get in bed with us at night in the mornings and nudity just isnt an issue, does that make sense?

Gaga82 · 05/05/2010 21:55

Ooh, love Desperate Housewives, I would have been all over the the cheetah/giraffe issue at school last week!

Sabie my scan is also Friday, feeling pretty similar to you. Have bought a couple of items of clothing, but no labels removed yet. Dying to tell more people, but daren't till we know everything is fine. DH thinks I am being over cautious, but there we go!

Can't believe Christmas is being mentioned, is this how organised as will have to be as a parent?! Aaargh. No chance!

mumcha · 05/05/2010 22:05

4mad boys i def no this is wat he wants for xmas as he has been asking for decks for 2yrs now so it will be used .same in my house nudity isnt a problem r embarrasing as my boys always walk int the bathroom wen me r my partner are there.

kawaiiko · 05/05/2010 22:08

Harmony, addicted, kyuri and others, I get frequent migraines and have been battling with a really malingering one for nearly two weeks now. Kyuri, paracetamol is absolutely fine! There's no need to suffer if they help. When mine gets really bad I've also got my consultant's permission to take co-codamol, but I do feel guilty Don't really have any choice though - I'm getting to the point where I feel like I might have to take some time off work because it's so exhausting!

Right, moan over

Sabie · 05/05/2010 22:33

Gaga82; good luck for Friday too!

blondecat · 05/05/2010 23:38

Isabela Olivier, I'm having mixed feelings
Apparently they are meant to be the best around

But I pored over the catalogue and found that most things are 90%+ viscose! Which given a pregnant woman's metabolism and the upcoming (allegedly) summer months makes for a hot mummy. In a not good way.
Considering the prices they are charging are not cheap, I am very disappointed. Unless of course there is a reason for all this viscose. Is there? Can't they add lycra to cotton/ modal / bamboo for the stretch? Or are we just being even more ripped off?

Non-first timers - any tips on other maternity companies using natural fibres?

bunnygirl80 · 06/05/2010 00:21

stuffed sorry to hear your news

I'm glad everyone else is thinking about prams. I've been looking for a few weeks, but I was thinking I was looking waaay too early. I've got my heart set on the Bugaboo cameleon. I've seen a few really good deals on ebay, but I haven't actually had chance to push one around yet so might take a trip to the shops for a go with one before I start bidding.

cluelessnchaos · 06/05/2010 07:25

Blondecat I work in a lifestyle/fashion boutique so have to wear stuff from our collection to work, I will be buying heaps of vests and tops and cardies but making do with bigger sizes noa noa is probably our most flexible label

addictedisinthesecondtrimester · 06/05/2010 07:51

Thanks everyone for replying about the paracetamol. I was pretty sure it was OK as am pharmacist but honestly the self-doubt and guilt that comes with this PG thing is awful! I'm sure it only gets way worse once the wee one actually arrives Headache on Day 3 now and it's getting old ...... but feeling slightly less guilty about popping a few pills thanks to you ladies.

Thanks for the book tip yesterday Loopymumsy have it flagged on Amazon and warned DH that I am working on a reading list for him

Re slings/wraps - love the idea of babywearing and do intend to get a sling of some sort (agree with clueless that the mind boggles at the range of possibilities). Think that the pouch slings look the easiest to use - would that be accurate (although I think would need to get different size for partner)? Also, I have a question about whether using slings/wraps means the baby is less likely to sleep in moses basket/cot during the day as it will only settle in someone's arms or in the sling? While I like the idea of babywearing I do also hope to have a few hours in the day where baby might be in its own sleep space.

Kyuri · 06/05/2010 10:01

Loopy that sling is gorgeous! For the uneducated among us, how on earth does it work....?!

umf · 06/05/2010 10:53

So pretty! I had a BabyBjorn Active last time, which (against the babywearing orthodoxy) I thought was great both for my back and for DS - he loved it. But this time planning to get more into the slings. Thinking of a stretchy wrap one for newborn stage, then one of those soft-structured/mei tai ones that can also go on the back for when baby's bigger. Does that sound sensible, sling-experts? Thanks!

Afternoon all,

So sorry to hear of the bad news for some of you.

Back from a couple of days in the Lakes and then Scotland with Dp and girls. Had a lovely time and girls were both very well behaved at the wedding on Sunday (and looked lovely - thanks Johnny B!).

Still pretty asymptomatic here, although I am falling asleep with dd1 everynight .

Has anyone started to have weird dreams yet? I was a total insomniac for both my previoius pregnancies, but have been averaging about 11 hours sleep each night for ages now. Last night I had yet another strange dream, was having an affair with old boss (who was pretty good looking) when he suddenly morphed into David bloody Cameron - didn't put me off though (in my dream I hasten to add - can't stand the greasy little twerp in real life).

Am slightly freaked out now and may have to "cuddle up" to dp tonight to see if he'll feature tonight, rather than Tory boy .

Threelittleducks · 06/05/2010 16:33

I had a cracking dream the other night about a Kill Bill style massacre (it was cartoony, not scary) which was very satisfying. Obviously I have a lot of inner rage.

mumcha · 06/05/2010 17:04

I had a dream the other nite that i had sex with dappy from ndubz lol and my partner was uaing a rampent rabbit as a phone lol
