Thanks Babybean the scan really does feel like a weight lifted from my shoulders! I even bought myself a pregnancy book yesterday (bit of a waste of money really, but nice to flick through). Well done to threelittleducks and tanmu on your scans too!

I even celebrated last night with my mum, Stepdad and PIL's - i was treated to a small glass of bubbly, which was lovely - and the first bit of alcohol to pass my lips since finding out! I have been so wary about everything, but now feel I can start to relax, and enjoy the pregnancy I'm so stupidly happy.

My little sister also had her scan on Friday (20 weeks) and found out she is having a girl, which is lovely as she has 2 boys and a girl already. Not sure if I will find out or not - I have suggested to DH that he can decide, as I really can't make up my mind!! Have a feeling he will want a surprise though, so we'll see

I am reading all the essentials lists and tips with great interest - keep them coming as they are fab I am toying with the idea of a sling for a few months before purchasing a pram/pushchair. We'll be living on a farm, so mid winter will be rather muddy and walking around will be easier that way I think, plus may help keeping baby warm and snug - good exercise for me too perhaps?

HeadlessLadyH · 02/05/2010 11:29

Morning all.

Today is DS2's 1st birthday. Hard to believe that he's only been here a year and even harder to believe that I am pg again!

I have "saved" my alcohol units for some bubbly this afternoon. We are having a few people over. Some know our news, others don't so it will be quite strange I think. I'm not telling some of my mum friends yet just in case there is anything wrong but close friends know I'm pregnant, but not the full extent! Only our very close friends and my neighbour know the real news. I like to make life complicated.

Anyone else having very vivid dreams? I had another baby related one last night. Dreamt there was only one left in there . Won't go into anymore than that.

I now have an appointment with a consultant a week on Thursday so I will be a day short of 12 weeks then. I assume I will get a scan and find out if there are still 2 heartbeats or not. So a wait of 11 days for me.

Glad to see more good scans, but am worried about stuffedmk as she has not updated. I really hope its all ok for her.

cluelessnchaos · 02/05/2010 12:32

Not looking good here, I had a heavy bleed this morning, dh is offshore so a good friend is coming round at one to take me to the hospital, it's a bit of a trek to the hospital so mw told me to come in when she thought I might get seen, she didn't think I would get scanned but I am rhesus neg so I need to get an anti d injection and they can check if I am dilating.

hmmSleep · 02/05/2010 12:48

Oh no clueless, so sorry your dh isn't around, hope the hospital look after you well, glad you have a friend there to give you a bit of support . xx

MrsLL2B · 02/05/2010 15:49

Hey all,

hope you are enjoying the long weekend, shame the weather has turned.

The essentials list is a great idea, I have no idea what to get and what is just a rip off. Also not sure when to start buying stuff as don't want to tempt fate, or leave it too late.

I had my scan on Thurs, it was amazing, couldn't believe how much clearer it is on screen. Everything looked healthy, but they put me back a week, so new due date is 20th Nov - please could that be updated? Means I get to go back next week for another scan as it was too small to do the nuchal tests, so I get another look!

Also discovered some really nice cordial, the brand is 'Green bottles' the flavour is Ginger and Lemongrass. You just need a tiny bit added to water as it is quite strong, but the ginger is great for the neausea and it is really refreshing.

I find it's best to leave shopping s long as possible. Baby technology changes all the time, and just as you think you have got a great deal on the best thing on the market, something new that is miles better and cheaper suddenly comes along.

Big things like prams - best to do A LOT of research on them. Think very carefully about your needs. My nana and mum very thoughtfully bought me a pram, but it was totally unsuitable for my needs and more of a burden than a godsend.

You need to be thinking of things like weight if you live up stairs - will you have somewhere to store pram if you can't carry upstairs? Ease of folding in case you need to fold in a hurry. Does it come with fitted raincover or will you have to buy one. Do you need a travel system (most car seats on travel systems only do until 6 months or so depending on weight of baby) or is it better to get a seperate car seat that will grow in stages with baby (like Britax or similar) and get a good pram that will recline for newborn? Durability, weight, function, forward facing/rear facing, how many extras you have to buy......

The list is endless!! So lots and lots of research and going to shops and testing things out for me.

It's a good excuse to do lots of baby window shopping with over-entusiastic friends/sisters/mums!

cluelessnchaos · 02/05/2010 17:46

Just back from hospital saw baby moving and heart beating but still bright red bleeding so worried still, fingers and everything else crossed.

Fenouille · 02/05/2010 17:50

Oh Clueless that sounds like good news but my fingers are still crossed for you and your DP.

KiwiKat · 02/05/2010 18:29

Keeping my fingers crossed that everything's ok for you, Clueless.

Gaga82 · 03/05/2010 17:45

Hi, not had time to read pages of posts, so don't know if this has already been mentioned.... but Mamas and Papas has got a 30% off clothes sale that ends at midnight tonight (Monday). Lots in it and seems to be a mix of sizes left.

I'm not standing to profit from this in any way - honest!! Just thought I'd pass on some pretty fab savings!

Loooopy · 03/05/2010 19:13

So sorry to hear of the sad losses that have happened since Thursday.

I had my scan on Thursday, and was so relieved to see that the baby was ok and heard the heartbeat which was amazing. Went away for a long weekend to tell both sets of parents, all very pleased indeed which was a relief although had grief from both sets that we should be married....couldn't see that one coming lol..also announced it on FB so just work to deal with now but that can wait a few weeks.

My due date has altered, i'm now due 13th November if someone can update it for me.

Re buying things, i want to get things sooner rather than later, and have been looking at prams. I have my eye on the I candy peach as several features appeal -

  • it can be converted to a double that is the same width as a single buggy *it can be used as a buggy, a pram, or can have a car seat attached to it *big shopping basket *lightweight and can collapse with one hand *not bulky for the boot *adjustable height on handles so can be used comfortably by short and tall people

Has anyone got one of these or any opinions on it?

CardiCorgi · 03/05/2010 20:51

clueless I hope everything is going better now.

Hmm, 13+1 does this mean I´m in the 2nd trimester and if so why am I not blooming? Nausea disappeared for a few days and is now back. Also should I be worried that I have put on less than a kilo in weight? I actually feel less bloated than a couple of weeks ago, so I´m really hoping that everything is ok in there.

tiany · 03/05/2010 20:58

clueless sounds like things are ok, fingers crossed the blleding stops and u can relax a bit

I have been away for the weekend, so sad to hear of the losses in the past few days. Poodle/Bella/Bubble i hope you are all being taken care of xoxo

I had my nuchal scan on Friday and everything seems to be good, my edd now Nov 13th.. so just one day later. The scan was amazing... I have it on DVD and sat the whole family down to watch it this will be the first grandchild on my side so family are sooo excited. Told few of my friends aswell so its all feeling more real now.

Cardi i am 12+2 and have only out on 1-2lb so far.. as long as you eating enough healthy food i think its ok at this stage...

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 03/05/2010 22:29

I am 12+3 and haven't put on any weight at all, but I was overweight to start with. I did worry about it slightly but then thought plenty of women lose weight at this stage because of nausea and my mum said she lost weight so I am happy with it.

Hoping I can keep it up somehow actually!

applegirl · 04/05/2010 07:37

Glad your scan went well too looooopy I was dated at 11+6 on the day too, so I am now due on the 14th I guess. The Sonographer said it didn't change my due date though

Off into town today to buy some maternity jeans I think - can't live in trackies and leggins for the next few months!

I have put on about a 1/4 of a stone I think oops.
