Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

Hello all.

Had a fab scan and booking in with midwife yesterday, who was a student midwife and the best one I have ever had by a mile! She even managed to take all of my blood at the same time (a rare occurrence for me due to Raynauds which means I usually bleed like stone). Our hospital has changed (revolutionised) the way that pg is monitored and it's fab. So organised and practical - it's great. Very impressed compaed with last time. Very very impressed indeed.

Saw little babby waving at us - was amazing how much detail there is! Was brilliant
Although, true to form, baby is bigger than it should have been (harrumph) which has pushed due date forward to 8th November! Hooray. My birthday on the 10th (same as my nana's, spooky or what!?) and talk of planned cs this time. So maybe a birthday treat?!

addictedisinthesecondtrimester · 30/04/2010 11:36

portia by week 10 my symptoms had almost vanished, then came back with a vengeance. your dh has a point. save the money and use it for something nice for you or baby.

2 weeks isnt that long, although can seem like a life time

stuffedmk · 30/04/2010 11:38

So sorry bella and poodle

Am another with strange belly...get really bunged up one day then get belly ache followed by runs not pleasant!!

Essentials list is great...I loved having a bouncy chair for DS but not everyones cup of tea.

Wondering about car seats. I am learning to drive at the moment, only done two lessons so far, but hoping to pass test before baby. However we are not likely to have our own car for some time, so only need car seat for occasional lifts in a few different cars. Had a very basic seat for DS and thinking of getting something similar this time, getting something better if we get to a point where our own car is affordable.

Went to a 'real nappy show' yesterday, am left wondering if I could just make my own...searching the web now lol

PrivetDancer · 30/04/2010 11:41

oh bella and poodle, that's really sad news
just as it was starting to look like we were all getting out of the danger zone. very sorry.

Threelittleducks · 30/04/2010 12:03

Best wishes to Bella and Poodle - hope you are ok and have lots of rl support. Much love xx

PrivetDancer · 30/04/2010 12:11

Portia - I had a wobble and nearly booked another scan last week which would have been 2 weeks before my nhs scan.

In fact the only reason I didn't was because they didn't have an appt I could make until today which is only 1 week before my nhs scan and that really did seem silly.
I'm kind of glad I didn't now though, am back to being circumspect and thinking what will be will be.

Spent (some of) the money on asos.com instead... got some bargains in the maternity clearance - tops for £3 and no shipping!! Thank you to whoever recommended that site - this thread is proving expensive, got those white company trousers too which are fab

Vix7 · 30/04/2010 12:22

Loopymumsy,
thanks for starting the must-have list! very useful for the clueless firsttime mom-to-be here.

poodle and bellabear, sorry to hear the news.

14 weeks and i am popping out already. DH swears I'm obviously showing. Have had to make trips to GAP to pick up some maternity work trousers and bermudas. (thank goodness for the 30% off)

went thru my summer clothes and to my utter dismay, i can't fit into ANY of them! even the ones which were loose/empire cut are now body hugging! don't even get me started on the bikinis. they now look rather.....obscene on the growing boobs.

Bought a bunch of maternity stuff from ASOS and now waiting impatiently for the package to arrive. was suppose to be here yesterday but no sign of it.

bad thing is, 2nd trimester and my appetite is back WITH A VENGEANCE!!! shared a pizza with DH and ate up half of it when usu i struggle to get to 1 third.

Good luck to all those having scans this week. Enjoy the bank holiday everyone!

Thanks guys. It is doing my head in not knowing as i'm a bit of a control freak but perhaps i just have to get used to feeling this way as so far pregnancy has been completely out of my control! Lots of things happening to you.

You're right, PrivetDancer think i'll spend the money on asos instead!

applegirl · 30/04/2010 13:19

Hello ladies

Had my scan this morning, and all went well! I can't tell you how relieved I am - completely ecstatic in fact!

Baby was rather chilled out and not wanting to move around into the right position for the nuchal fold measurement, so the sonographer had to get me to walk around a few times! I didn't mind because it meant I got to see the baby lots!

It definitely feels more real now, and I feel like I can start to relax now (well, we'll see!)

Have a lovely weekend everyone, and good luck to all the other up and coming scans too x x

4madboys · 30/04/2010 13:32

so sorry to hear the news from poodle and bellabear

re car seats, loopy is right re one of the mothercare car seats doing as well as the maxi cosi/britax car seats, BUT that is because that particular first stage baby seat was actually made my maxi cosi, they just put a different cover on it! i know cos i did some research and we bought it for ds3 who is now just 5yrs, we used it for ds4 as well but it is now too old, i think they recomend you replace them after 5yrs? and plus its been bashed around by the boys in the house, ds4 still uses it, its his 'tv chair' lol but the polestirine (sp) type stuff over the plastic seat is all broken so NOT safe in a car.

i have been looking at the britax ones as thats what we had for ds1 and ds2, and they seem slightly cheaper than maxi cosi.

if you are happy to wait a bit before buying, then john lewis told me they have a sale in august and all the car seats go into that as the covers and fabric designs change at that time of year, so they sell some of them cheaper!! i shall wait and get mine in the sale i think

applegirl · 30/04/2010 13:57

Oh sorry to hear about poodle and bella - just read through the latest posts - very sad hope you are both being looked after.

Just went to the loo and am spotting a bit rang epu as advised by midwife at booking appt only to be told that I couldn't in fact self refer and that I need to go to gp/mw to get referal....being so late in the day and with bank holiday even with referal it will be next week before I can get scan.
Managed to get in to see DR at 4.45 today so should be refered but just keeping fingers crossed now for the earliest possible scan!
Am currently sitting here typing through floods of tears despite telling myself for weeks that if pregnancies end early it happens for a reason etc, etc....
Now got to pull self together as have to go get DS in a bit.

Aw Stuffedmk I hope everything turns out OK. I had spotting a couple of weeks ago and everything turned out fine, so don't panic quite yet!

I have just spent most of today being sick. Yucky! I thought that the nausea was wearing off and that I had done really well to make it to this stage without being sick at all (apart from in my mouth, TMI I know!) But then yesterday I felt rank all day so took the day off of work and did the same today only to start throwing up at about 12pm. It was so gross!!! I am sorry if this is just TMI I just feel I need to share lol.

A lot of people say being sick is a good sign though so I guess that comforts me a little, that and that in a couple of weeks I shouldn't be suffering with MS anymore.

Well I am off to get DS from school, hope I can make it round there without being sick again... Hope everyone else is well. Sorry to hear about poodle and Bella

addictedisinthesecondtrimester · 30/04/2010 15:27

stuffed dont panic, you've read this thread you've seen how many of us have had spotting (me included, and i'm still spotting!) and its turned out fine. Relax, see the doc, you may even be lucky and manage to get a weekend appointment (my area do them) but go and put your feet up, have a cup of decaf tea and relax.

Also do your sugery do appointments over the phone? my doc did a phone appointment with me and refered me stright away. Just a thought.

PrivetDancer · 30/04/2010 15:30

hi stuffed - that's a bit silly that you actually have to see your doc to get a referral - it's not like they will be able to tell you anything. Have you tried ringing your midwife? She may be able to ring the hospital and get you an appt. the earlier you try the better.

try to stay calm - it is only a bit of spotting you say? no cramps? it could well be nothing - heaps of people on here have had spotting and been fine, it's fairly common.

good luck, i hope you don't have to wait til tuesday for a scan and that the spotting stops soon.

stuffedmk · 30/04/2010 15:41

Dr spoke to me on phone but asked me to go in...have arranged parents to drop me off and look after DS so at least I don't have to do my usual half hour walk to get there lol.
Have pulled self together a bit now, I know it could be fine, would really like to be able to just find out RIGHT NOW if all ok! I'm impatient at the best of times.
It wasn't a lot and only had fairly normal light niggles so fingers crossed.
DH at work, haven't phoned him, not like he can really come home anyway, and not like he could do anything if he was here.

stuffedmk · 30/04/2010 15:47

EPU told me they were just about finishing for the day and wouldn't be back til Tues so that will be the earliest scan appt possible.

PrivetDancer · 30/04/2010 15:50

could you find a place for a private scan nearby? they would probably be open tomorrow

stuffedmk · 30/04/2010 15:59

No money for private scan, don't get me wrong, I would find it if it could make any difference to know but whatever will be will be right?......Will just try to take it easy and think about other stuff (as far as possible). Trying to be my normal logical self rather than the emotional wreck this whole pregnancy turns you into.

Mylittlebubble · 30/04/2010 16:05

Hi Ladies, I went to the EPU this morning as started passing blood clots last night. Scan showed no heart beat

Wishing you all the best for your Nov babies and I will no doubt see you all somewhere else on Mumsnet xxx

PrivetDancer · 30/04/2010 16:06

yes that's very true. sorry you have going to have a bit of a stressful weekend - why do these things always happen on friday afternoons?!
if it stops soon / doesn't get worse than spotting then you really should be ok though. good luck!

PrivetDancer · 30/04/2010 16:08

oh god, so sorry bubble
