Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

Nymph- thanks for the prod- have asked in the childbirth section. x x

Nymphadora · 16/04/2010 13:20

Well officially this is a team but they are designated to different areas as we are rural.

floozietoozie · 16/04/2010 14:04

Hello all

some shocking care going on out there. I feelverylucky with mine I must say. Have more appts than I can shake a stick at atm!

I contacted the private hospital and have an appointment for nuchal and bloods tonight at 8.50 which is going to be a bit weird. I guess theytell you the measurement straight off, do they? I know I'll need to wait for blood results. It's going to cost £180 though. Good thing I don't have a life anymore to spend money on anything else .

ILoveGregoryHouse · 16/04/2010 14:04

VMum you had a broken back?! did I read that right? Please tell if it's not too personal.

I did a JoJo shop too. My friend's mum is coming out in a couple of weeks and will be able to bring it with her. Got the gypsy skirt and a camisole. Also got some stuff from Blooming Marvellous and Mamas and Papas. That'll have to be it for me, though, I really do have enough maternity stuff with this being number 4 (except I was pg in the winter with 1 and 2 and that was the UK, it's a wee bit warmer in Bahrain).

I haven't met a midwife yet. Managed to get on the ob-gyn list of a doc at the hospital I want to deliver at and am seeing him on Sunday. My friend (29 weeks) is with him at the mo and says that, although he looks a bit like a janitor, he knows what he's doing. Erk! But it's a midwife-led delivery assuming no complications, doc will just pop in occasionally to see how things are.

Hermya321 · 16/04/2010 14:16

Abfab Thanks for that, reassuring to know. I can't quite afford the money for the classes.

Floozie They probably will.

Nymph Didn't think you counted as that rural??

VMumToBe · 16/04/2010 14:24

Yep gh - I fractured my L5 (www.spineuniverse.com/anatomy/vertebral-column)
snowboarding in 2003 (a skiier tried to overtake me, and caught the side of my board, so it was a twisting break).

Potentially the most painful thing I have ever done (well, dunno about giving birth yet I guess!)

Had to learn how to walk again - a hard slog but touch wood aside from the occasional freeze (generally from sitting for too long) it hasn't stopped me from doign pretty much anything.

But it could potentially affect how an epidural is administered apparently. Will let you know after 1 June!

floozietoozie · 16/04/2010 14:35

Katy, was it you who asked if I feel different with this pg and if that's why I'm imagining a girl? I feel sicker this time but not sure if that's because I'm much more tired. I think I'm thinking girl right now because it's difficult to imagine a boy that isn't ds - I've got free rein on imagination for a daughter. I would loveto have a girl, as this is likely to be my last child (???) but my main hope is full term with no health problems this time, please.

Nymphadora · 16/04/2010 14:55

hermya it's not that rural but we are broken up into towns/villages due to size which leaves less choice.

I came home & cried my appt was that good NOT 1/2 hour late, patronising nurse asked for urine which I didn't have as no one told me to. I offered to go to the toilet but they said they didn't need it. Measured me at 2cm more than usual and when I commented they said' doesn't have to be accurate'
MW fluutered round consultant who asked 4 questions then told me when to go back. I tried pointing out the mistakes but only got the first one done. She forgot to give me theblood forms & had to chase me with them & now I need a half day to go to the hospital as most people can't get my blood.
I am seeing MW in 3 weeks &consultant in 15.
AND I NEVER GOT MY FUCKING PRESCRIPTION FORM. And somehow my BP was low

dh says I was over sensitive but it was v impersonal. No how are you/ feel baby stuff

VMumToBe · 16/04/2010 15:05

Is it strange not to feel pregnant at all?

I'm wondering today if I might have imagined it!!! No bloat, no sickness, no bump...should I be worried?!?

Elsa123 · 16/04/2010 15:09

V- I'm the same now the bloat has gone, so has the tummy. Boobs are fine now and I have hardly any of the external signs that get spoken about- bumpy darkened nipples, no linear negra etc, but then apparently if you're fair, you may not get these (quietly pleased about that). It is still worrying though isn't it?!

VMumToBe · 16/04/2010 15:14

Go glad its not just me Elsa, I guess we should be grateful as only too soon it will be all to obvious...

I went up a cup even before I had taken a test (back in Feb!) but today the C was too big so I've gone back to the normal size...

Strange!!

Wonder when the bump will arrive?

MummyWilliams · 16/04/2010 15:24

VMumtobe and Elsa - i feel the same (as in don't feel pregnant) apart from the still sore boobs and the occasional baby movement. Although belly is huge a perfectly formed size

VMumToBe · 16/04/2010 15:30

Well, if I'm being totally honest I am not the thinnest lady on the block (not fatty, just a good covering!) and as such have always had a little belly anyhow

I'm sure we will all get bumps soon enough!

Mummy W interesting that you can feel movement - I always wonder when I have a belly flutter whether it is that, or just my noisy belly!!

nunnie · 16/04/2010 15:40

I have the same community midwife as before but she is based at a different hospital than the one that is nearest to me. Odd set up I live in a very small rural village, so my nearest doctors is in the next town but they come under Blackpool Vic, however I with my postcode come under Preston Royal which is better for me as it is nearer (totally not relevant, I do like to waffle).

I rang Preston Royal last week as I hadn't heard anything since receiving my maternity notes thingy about 5 weeks ago and didn't know what the procedure was. Didn't have a community midwife till 36 weeks with dd because my old doctors refused to give me one as I wanted to go to Preston and they were based at Blackpool (the same doctor I had had since I was 10, so I was reluctant to move at the time but he was based about 6 miles from my home when I got pregnant). If I hadn't of had some problems that took me to A&E last time early on, I don't think I would have even been referred to Preston, but EPU dealt with all that.

Sorry waffle again feel free to rest and have a coffee.

Anyway I rang them and she said in with the notes there should have been a letter, I explained there wasn't even a letter explaining what the notes were but I had recognised them from last time. She said oh dear must have been missed when filling the envelope, I had a appointment on the 31st of March (missed of course), and my scan is the 19th (lucky I rang)so I am having the full joblot on the 19th now. She told me I am under the same consultant as last time which is good cos he was okay really. I was suprised that they had linked me to my previous notes, I thought I would have to explain everything all over again and then explain what happened after my labour and it is full of big words and I have forgotten most of them now so phew!

finished now.

MummyWilliams · 16/04/2010 15:41

VMumToBe have felt movement for a few weeks now. Just little flutters and squirming about. This is my 4th pregnancy and i'm currently 15+5. I know a few others have felt early movement on here.

I'm not a fatty either, just a gentle covering like you say

But tummy seems to have a memory of its own.

Nymphadora · 16/04/2010 15:55

nunnie good that's all sorted then and well done on the notes. Mine are supposedly in mothvalls somewhere

my boobs are still sore I am still tired and nothing tastes right. And now I have started throwing up
And I am in a foul mood (Sorry!)

FingonTheValiant · 16/04/2010 16:00

Great to hear that Katy

AbFabT we don't have a tumbler either, I think you just need to have more of a stash to allow for drying times (what a shame lol) I only mentioned it because floozie said that for her not having one last time was a problem.
Oh, and wasn't sure how open-minded you were about naming a girl Danger, but I think it would be pretty fab actually. If not, Alice is also my middle name, so I support your back up plan!

Roobear I like your names, especially Alice (cos I'm biased) and Lydia.

Hermya thanks for reassurance, I was beginning to panic about the overdrafts, and that's before I even look at the loans

Nymph and elsa I cant believe how shoddy your care has been; it's absolutely disgraceful. You could try complaining to the Patient Liaison people, that sometimes helps.

Oh and AbFabT would you mind letting us know what the book and cd are called when you get a look at them. The classes are so damn expensive, and if the book works that would be a brilliant alternative.

FingonTheValiant · 16/04/2010 16:02

Nymph feel really sorry for you, you cant even have chocolate if it all tastes odd. Hope you can get some looking after from someone soon

RooBear · 16/04/2010 16:45

ooh i'm glad people are mentioning not feeling pregnant, thought I was going round the bend! even had a dream I lost the baby last night I have a bump and not much else! can't believe whats happening nymph make sure you get pampered over the weekend!

Hermya321 · 16/04/2010 16:52

Nymph Gosh it makes you wonder if they learned to count to ten at school doesn't it. I'm sorry you're feeling a bit rubbish as well.

Nunnie I think they forgot to pack your crystal ball as well when they gave you your notes. I'm sorry it's been a bit of a mission to get sorted. At least you've got your scan sorted.

I went to Mamas and Papas today to have a nosy. I ended up trying on some maternity jeans with the addition of a fake bump that they had in the changing rooms. It was very strange to see myself looking all pregnant, but those jeans were sssssooo comfy. I'll be going back for those.

OP posts:
RooBear · 16/04/2010 16:55

I'm wearing my mamas and papas jeans now! wish I tried them with the fake bump though

Xavielli · 16/04/2010 16:57

Elsa I just wanted to say that the maternity unit at the JR in Oxford is meant to be superb. Many of my friends have had babies there and said how wonderful it is. I am in Banbury so if something were to go wrong for me that's where I'd be transfered to as we only have a midwife led unit here now.

Nymphadora · 16/04/2010 17:31

roobear I eyed up the fake bump when I tried on mg pants& decided it looked too small compared to the rest of my stomach

Elsa123 · 16/04/2010 17:36

Xav- I have heard that too and would really quite like to go there, maybe I'll do a practice drive and see how far it is.

MummyBeth · 16/04/2010 18:35

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd take a peek over here as RooBear recommended.

Didn't manage to read all posts ... but you sound like a nice lot so I thought I'd say hi.

I'm having baby no 1 - had a scan at 12 weeks (private) - am now 14 +1. NHS scan is next week so hoping to see growth and development but not too much detail of you know where - we want a surprise.

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine - I'm loving it but not the prickly heat or the prediction of snow for next week.

Have a fabby weekend!
