Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

( and thankyou for your answer Seashells!)

Friday Five on Saturday

Sue is to blame for me not being able to tell my choir leader that I'm too tired to sing in the next concert

DC - aw he's lovely, who cares about botox

Shag, marry, befriend? NC (so I don't have to talk to him again), marry DC (see answer to question 2), befriend GB

I've bought a 0-3 pink babygro from The White Company. My son's Godfather's daughter is due to be born next week so i can always give it to them if this one's a boy.

Bank Holiday weekend - tis here too. Shopping, avoiding the choir (actually, I'll probably cave in), taking the kids to a family day at the local expat club.

mummywilliams, thinking of you and your family.

DillyDora · 01/05/2010 12:57

My Friday Five on a Saturday:

Sue is to blame for me completely forgetting to set an exam paper until I get a reminder that it's late! Oops!

DC - sorry, the botox is worrying... I thought he was having some kind of cataleptic fit on Thursday night

S,M,B? NC, GB, DC - in desperation!

Haven't bought anything - too superstitious

BH w/e? - chillin', cleanin', lunch out tomorrow....really might have to go and shop for maternity jeans on Monday...

Have a good weekend all
xxx

Tyson86 · 01/05/2010 17:14

Sue is to blame for me walking around yesterday at the shops in my slippers

DC- Botox getting worse everytime he comes out in public.

Shag, Marry, Befriend- NC,DC,GB if i was sacrificing myself for my child.

Bought clothes, baby bath, and a knitted teddy bear. and a blankie, dummy, bottles, bottle brush, 2 yellow blankets... I tend to over do things

BH W/E?- Finishing building kennels, clothes shopping for Ds and eating

Going away friday for MIL's birthday thing which has skinted me but thinking sod it and want to rebook my gender scan but had promised my mum and brother could come with us and mum is working so i might go friday evening before leaving for hotel, hopefully they will have an appointment.

Tyson86 · 01/05/2010 17:24

YES! Bokked appointment for friday at 6.45pm then straight off to hotel, cant wait and its only £50 at this one, cant wait although paranoia has already set in, going to go drop in clinic to hear heartbeat on weds to calm me down and get them to check everything is ok.

Tyson86 · 01/05/2010 17:25

Bokked?? Booked!

AbFabT · 01/05/2010 18:41

Thinking about you, MummyWilliams.

LOL @ Tyson shopping in her slippers.

Poor Sue, eh!

Can't bear to think about what you are asking me to think about re the politicians? Must I??? I am sure 'avoid' used to be one of the options! GB went to the same school as my DH! Obviously quite a few years apart! GB used to do presentations at DH's school and DH used to get quite a lot of book tokens from him!

I have ordered a Snuggle Nest, but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm not buying much yet, but I've done quite a bit of research and have a few things book-marked. Thinking we'll go to the Baby Show in three weeks, so I might get a few things there.

We're up in Scotland visiting the in-laws. My SIL is due two weeks before us, her bump is MUCH bigger than mine, though she's on her third whereas this is my first, so I guess that's the main reason why. There's been the odd sprinkle of rain but not much.

Hermya321 · 01/05/2010 19:00

Sue is to blame for me not winning my ebay bid on the nice maternity clothes

Shag, Marry, Befriend- NC, DC, GB but only as the result of a serious lost bet and I'd only see him for coffee before changing my name and telephone number. In the words of another MN GB looks like the bleary eyed love child of Susan Boyle and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Bought clothes, muslins and wool in order to make a blanket and am just waiting for the pattern to arrive.

I seriously hate ebay at times, I was winning my auction and then some numpty came and outbid me in the last 30 seconds and I couldn't rebid as I was walking round sodding tesco and my phone is crap and wouldn't load fast enough!!

AAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!

I am not a happy camper (in fact I hate camping and would rather go for the repeat coffee with Gordon Brown).

Can I still do Friday questions on Sunday?? I guess so...

Sue is to blame that I have had a headache for the past 3 days.

I dont think DC has had botox. I think he is naturally line free although definitely too much foundation.

I would shag GB to get him out of the way (I would have to be really really drunk though) I would marry DC and befriend NC.

We have bought 2 babygrows, very cute yellow ones.

This weekend I have had DD to stay the night then I am going to visit the inlaws and on Monday we ae going swimming. Nothing very interesting.

I havent got much to report on the baby front, no cravngs, havent been sick for over a week yay! got a HUGE bump though!

Right off to iron ds clothes

AbFabT · 02/05/2010 17:08

Quiet on here today. DH and I went to a baby-items shop today, mainly to look at the hammock we are thinking about getting, but then spent some time looking at prams. There is just too much to think about. The one I like the most doesn't come with a suitable car-seat, you have to spend extra for the attachment and then are restricted to which car-seat is suitable, and I don't especially love the car-seat you are restricted to. Why don't they make it easy!!!

Tyson86 · 02/05/2010 17:14

I love the Graco quattro deluxe, it comes with everything and it is affordable. What is your pushchair called AbfabT?

PatsyIsPreggers · 02/05/2010 17:31

Hi all

This is my first time on Mumsnet. First pregnancy and baby due on 17 October. 16 weeks today and starting to get more and more excited!

Not showing at all yet - is anyone else the same? Keep getting convinced there's nothing there despite seeing it bouncing around and heart beating at 12 week scan.

Will probably regret wanting a bump when I'm 39 weeks, can't move and covered in stretch marks!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 02/05/2010 18:17

Welcome Patsy.

I am a great big fat heifer and am 14+1. But this is DC4.

Hermya, the only way to do e-bay is to obsessively sit at your 'puter and refresh every nanosecond. As you know . Sorry you didn't win the auction - I hate it when that happens.

Right, off to watch Dr Who on iplayer if I can get the streaming to work. Grrrr.

Hermya321 · 02/05/2010 18:17

Patsy Welcome to the thread, congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm due on the 24th Oct and have no bump to speak of whatsoever. In fact I only look as if I've had a big lunch. Oh well. Is this your first or second/third/fourth?

OP posts:
PatsyIsPreggers · 02/05/2010 18:25

Thanks Hermya and ILoveGregoryHouse, Hermya glad to hear not everyone shows early.

This is my 1st, but my best friend had her 1st last yr and was already really showing at 10 wks. Haven't had any sickness or anything, and really just want to FEEL pregnant!

Oh well, already giving me good excuses not to do things I don't want to. DH is downstairs painting the hall, but managed to persuade him paint fumes may be toxic for baby!

moonstorm · 02/05/2010 18:27

Ab -I was warned off car seats that came with prams as they are not as safe as the specialist car seats.

Sorry toeveryone who has had losses since I was last on the thread, my thoughts are with you xx

Thought I'd ask the 2nd/ 3rd timers etc to share what they remembered from pregancy last time:

  • I had lots of aches around 14/ 15 weeks - apparrantley (sp?!) this is normal and after this my bump formed both times and the aching settled down

  • I feel the baby moving now, but can have days when I don't- I am sure on those quiet days, the baby is growing lost as everytime I have a break from feeling nything the kicks seem stronger next time

Can anyone else think of anything to share?

Xavielli · 02/05/2010 18:53

AbFab - I think the only pushchair that comes with a car seat REALLY suitable to keep a baby in is this one which goes with this pushchair.

If I were you and you were going to be doing alot of car journeys get a proper rear and forward facing car seat that stays in the car. I honestly wouldn't worry about disturbing a baby whilst doing this. You just picking them up is actually highly unlikely to wake them in the early weeks.

I am getting (without a doubt) this lovely bit of kit!this is what it looks like as a stroller for after 6 months. I am stupidly excited about it! I love buggies!!

AbFabT · 02/05/2010 19:21

Welcome. Patsy. I wasn't really showing at 16 weeks. I am 18 weeks tomorrow though, and do now have a small bump.

Tyson, the pram I have had my heart set on for a while is the Stokke Xplory. www.stokke-stroller.com/en-gb/ I love how high my child will be, close to me.

Thanks for the info, moonstorm. I am reading more into it, but if you have any pointers, do let me know.

Xavielli, the lady in the store recommended the Jané seat you linked to! And I liked the green a lot. I just didn't LOVE the pram - she recommended the Rider version. DH does like it though, and I am pleased he is having input. He isn't as won over with the Stokke as I am. I am just still aaargh, head done in!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 02/05/2010 19:35

Welcome Patsy!!

Xav/abfab that jane is the one I have-comes highly recommended!

I'm shattered, need more iron

Elsa123 · 02/05/2010 19:52

Hello all. My sister had a good point about car seats, for UK citizens, all car seats do have to conform to British safety standards, so they are all much of a muchness and choices go down to comfort, fit, etc.

Hermya321 · 02/05/2010 20:57

(Does happy dance) I won my ebay auction for the fabbity fab skirt that I REEEEAALLLLLYYYYYYYY REALLLY wanted!!

OP posts:
Tyson86 · 02/05/2010 21:23

AbFabT the stokke looks very nice, im on a tighter budget this time round so the graco quattro deluxe is fine for me.

Elsa I agree with what your sister said, my ds #1 was in a cheap Graco, £100 travel system and the carseat was fine.

This Graco is better quality. Still tempted by the phil and teds though but dh really wants the Graco.

Hermya321 · 02/05/2010 21:53

Elsa I think you're right as well, it is just down to personal choice at the end of the day. I quite like the Quinny Buzz and we're being given a car seat that'll fit the frame. So I think we'll be good.

Abfab We're on a budget as well, so it'll be an ebay baby (not for carseat obviously).

OP posts:
lilmissmummy · 02/05/2010 22:16

I was torn between the phil and teds and the icandy apple. Until I saw it and then fell in love! They are very similar Xavielli, the cherry and the apple! Have you chosen your colours yet?

Hi Patsy and welcome!! I am HUGE too but this is pregnancy number 4! With my first I didnt show until I was 6 months and then I ballooned! It will come (and then you will be bored of it! )

Hi Moonstorm nice to see you again!

My best friend is getting the Graco quattro deluxe, it is a nice pushchair at a great price! She is getting hers from Babies r us - they had an online special (dont know if they still have!)

Sooooo hungry, cant stop eating!!

AbFabT · 02/05/2010 22:22

Your sister does have a point there, Elsa. Though we were talking to the lady in the shop today, and she advises AGAINST the Isofix bases as they are so rigid, and if you are unlucky enough to be in a crash, the seat-belts give a little bit, which is good. Made sense to us, so I think there are some that are safer than others.

Am still liking the Jané Matrix Light for the car-seat, but it doesn't go on the Stokke base, so not very practical in that regard.

We certainly don't have money to burn, but I absolutely love the look of the Stokke, and believe in the benefits of having my child higher and thus closer to me (better interaction, away from the typical cigarette in hand walkers, away from slobbery dogs), and hopefully this will be our first of three children, so it would get lots of use and we'd make it worth the money. Plus DH's parents AND my mum both offered to buy the pram (this was before I'd even looked!). I think both would still like to pay for the whole thing, but they could split it!
I'm just stuck on how practical it is for us. We don't really drive a lot, so I think we'd mainly use the pram out and about without having to faff about with getting it in and out of the car, but perhaps will do more trips once we have our baby - we don't know!
