Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

Anyone had this?

I got up of the sofa this afternoon and got like a twisting pain in my side really painful had me hunched over, it went within seconds and now nothing feel brilliant now.

Should I be worried, or could it just have been a bowel issue (everything is bowel related I have noticed in my pregnancy).

Katy86 · 29/04/2010 20:52

Thank you all for the congratulations ladies it does feel very real now he is a 'he' rather than an 'it'. dilly I'm really leaning towards the name Samuel but this will no doubt change lol...is everyone well?
Xx

RooBear · 29/04/2010 20:53

I get pains in my side when I sneeze! its really quite painful but goes within a few seconds as well. If your really worried mention it to your midwife, I've never been pregnant until now so just taking everything as it comes!

Katy86 · 29/04/2010 20:54

nunnie I had the same issue I raised it with midwife she said very normal due to stretching etc...if ur worried give yours a call but I'm sure your absolutely fine x

VMumToBe · 29/04/2010 21:01

nunnie I had sharp sharp side pains in my lower belly at 5 weeks which ended up being an ovarian cyst. If it continues being seriously strong (ie too much hurt to talk through, making you catch your breath etc) please go and see a doctor as whilst stretching pains are totally normal for us now anthing like that needs to be checked out. For your sanity if no-one elses! x

nunnie · 29/04/2010 21:04

Not a cyst I had one in the last pregnancy and no sign on 12 week scan of another. Think it was my body telling me to stop lying on the sofa in the middle of the day to be honest.

Thank you though, if it happens again I will ring midwife and get some advice.

VMumToBe · 29/04/2010 21:13

Aw bless you nunnie! Take care

I am going for a nice bath to unwind after one of the most horrid days I have had at work for a long time. Everything that could go wrong did, which was quite an achievement in its own way!!!

SilverSky · 29/04/2010 21:13

I too have been overdoing it I think, making me have an achy tum with the occasional sharp pain.

Having my risk assessment at work today has scared the crap out of me, as I am not supposed to pull, drag or lift nothing, which is kind of unrealistic but I do see their point and am trying to not do much, in fact hoping to not do a lot.

Sitting here I just felt like a bubble rising up through my tum, could that be the baby?

I have my 16wk appt next week and I can't wait as desperate to hear the heartbeat again.

Being preggers is totally a rollercoaster on the old emotions for sure. Husband has been great support, we have had some dingdongs for sure but are back on track now. His outlook is very good in that what will be will be but does tell me to not to do too much and tells me off when I do, then cuddles me when I am in tears (which is a common occurrence!).

As my preggers pal at work said with your first pregnancy you need a scan or a listen every week just to keep you sane.

sam12 · 29/04/2010 21:14

Katy love the name Samuel but we can't use it as I am Sam! think we are going to have it as a middle name though.

I get the pains in my side when I sneeze as well. They did find a cyst- well she said it was something that looked like a cyst- at my 12 week scan- I was really worked up about it cos not sure what it meant but mw said they'd just look to see if was still there when I have next scan. Have tried just not to think about it.

Being pregnant really makes you aware of your body doesn't it?

nunnie · 29/04/2010 21:43

Don't be too worried about cysts, mine was 8cm with last pregnancy and once they knew it was there they monitored it well. It was there right through but never grew, was gone when they did a 6 weeks post labour scan, they decided it probably burst during labour.

They will offer for you to have it removed whilst pregnant, which involves taking ovary aas well as they like to get in out very quickly when operating on pregnant women. Mine wasn't causing me any serious pain so I opted against it.
They will also say if you get a pain that means you keel over in agony, can't talk, can't breath due to the pain then you ring 999 as the ovary might have twisted.
They will go over it with you and risks etc. But please don't worry it is quite common to have an ovarian cyst and they will monitor it.

nunnie · 29/04/2010 21:46

That should have said they may offer for you to have it removed, it is dependant on size etc.

Something just came to me in a flash, I was told at my scan I at a retroverted uterus (think that is right), could the pain have been related to that does anyone know? I know they say it could tilt back I just wondered if that caused any discomfort if it did?

nunnie · 29/04/2010 21:51

Sorry I read my post back and I sound ike a know it all, really don't mean to just wanted to reassure ladies with cysts that it isn't always as bad as it sounds.

Three posts on the trot I am on waffle form tonight sorry

Vikks · 29/04/2010 21:52

Hi Everyone, I'm keeping up to date, but soooo busy at work I have to post at 9.45pm! I've just finished now and about ready to collapse. Oh well, I do have a holiday to look forward to in a weeks time. I think I?ll just use it to catch up on my sleep.

Had my 16 week appointment today and heard the little heart beating away! It's such a relief. A good friend of mine has just had a 15 week MMC and I've been so anxious. But I'm assured everything is as it should be.

BTW has anyone elses boobs just ballooned? I had to buy my second batch of maternity bras, 38G!!!! WTF! Needless to say DH doesn?t mind but I?m starting to get backache.

Elsa123 · 29/04/2010 22:01

No boob ballooning for me. I've gone up one size. I'm jealous of the midwife appointments with the heartbeats. Not sure of when I can next get a midwife appointment. Hoping for this coming Wednesday or Thurs, but they are the only days she works and if she's been on call the night before, day appointments get cancelled and she only comes to the GP clinic every other week. ARGHH!

My DH has just told me we're invited to someone's 40th birthday party on Sunday. Its black tie and I asked shorter or long dresses for women? The reply- whatever you want, which I hate as its so easy to get wrong. To top it all, I have a nice dress but its too big and the dresses I have that fit, would make me look fat round the middle. I haven't told anyone at work yet, but my DH has so I'll end up with loads of people coming up and doing the old congrats and I'm not yet comfortable with random people knowing esp as they could tell the people I work with (same company). Moan moan moan!!

floozietoozie · 29/04/2010 22:21

Sam12 and Nunnie, I've got a cyst too, 3cm, have previously had some removed when not pregnant. As one was 7cm and one 3-4 and they touched at the back, not worried about this one, especially now - too much else to worry about!! Nunnie, I've got, or at least in last pregnancy had a retrovted womb and it didn't cause any pain.

Dilly, my Down risk was 1:164 , which was the combined nuchal, age and bloods. The bloods on their own though were 1:24, so bloody glad I had the nuchal done. I do know that having a good nuchal result doesn't mean it can't happen - a woman who was in special care with my sister when my nephew was born had had a nuchal especially because there was Down's in her family, and got a good result, but her child did have have it. Hey ho, as they say, it's risk factors not answers (apart from the bloody bloody amnio, aaarrrgggghhhh!!!!!).

I'm currently debating whether to go to Scotland tomorrow or not. There's a family gathering on for my cousin's baby, a welcome day event, and I was planning to go but put off booking flights during the horrendous nausea phase, then the ash happened which also deterred me, and then it just got too expensive for me and DS. So I'd have to get the train with him - 6 and a bit hours up. . He was very good on the train last tim but that was only 3.5 hours. I was also not pg then, or rather I may have been but right at the very, very start before the sickness kicked in. I do think though that it would do me a world of good to have something to distract me for a few days.

Hermya321 · 29/04/2010 22:36

Nymph Poor DD1, oh well better luck next time for her. You feeling any better?

Floozie My word that is a lot of money, the consultant sounds like he's quite good with that sort of percentage to his name. But that is a heck of a wad of cash, how does your hospital compare? I'm glad that you've got a trip to bonny scotland to look forward to. I hope you have a good weekend.

Silver Unless you farted afterwards (like within a minute of bubble feeling), I would safely say that was your baby!

Katy Congratulations on your little boy!!

Flyingdoll I'm hunting on ebay for maternity stuff, we're still a bit skint from DH being out of work and plus there are NO maternity clothes within a twenty mile radius of where I am. Searched high and low for jeans and have just given up. The pregtent is looking more and more like a viable option.

sam12 · 29/04/2010 22:59

nunnie- you didn't sound like a know it all at all- I found it very reassuring as the mw said very little and then I came home and googled it and found some horror stories that scared me half to death!! Mines 5cm and so far no pain fingers crossed. It did me good just hear what will or could happen so thank you.

yep Vikks my boobs are huge I am bursting out of the new bras that I bought already- i have more comments on the size of them than I have the size of my bump!

Floozie hope you get off to Scotland- it is always good to have a couple of days away.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 30/04/2010 06:51

Hermya, e bay is great for maternity clothes. I've had loads from there. Just make sure you go for the good brands as they're the ones likely to still be in good shape. I have to say anything I've bought from topshop, sadly, has gone all mis-shpen very quickly, but next, h&m, mamas & papas all good as is isabella oliver (but £££ and is stil pricey even on ebay). I just got a dotty p dress for £5 the other day. Now just need to get it to Bahrain ha ha.

I've given up on maternity jeans - i've never found any that fit properly. Nearest has been Next.

Elsa is that an excuse for a shopping trip I see there? Get something like a sequinned tunic? It's supposed to big round the middle.

Katy congratulations on expecting a son. Isn't it lovely?

Nymphadora · 30/04/2010 07:10

Had a good sleep so feeling a bit better. May still see about finishing early if I feel rough

floozietoozie · 30/04/2010 08:06

Nymph I forgot to say yesterday at you fainting and I really hope you feel better today. Just gojome if you feel rough, it's just not worth the risk.

And Katy many congrats on your little boy!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. About to start packing in minute. Xxxx

Elsa123 · 30/04/2010 08:25

ILGH= it probably is as I'm organizing a giant cocktail reception for work next month and will need something for that. Deep joy. I'd rather not be spending money on a frivolity when I could get lots of other clothes instead!

My dog is going in for a hernia op today- so what has he just done? rolled in a pile of crap on his walk. I've just had to scrub him down whilst retching in the process....git. I hope the vets won't mind being presented with a wet dog.

Hope you're feeling better today nymph. Katy- its so strange to know a sex of a baby if you know what I mean! Technology is great. Congratulations!

Katy86 · 30/04/2010 08:43

floozie im sorry youre having such a hard time, i wish i could say something to make you feel better, sorry
nymph i really hope youre feeling better today. Try and rest if you can
Dilly i hope things are looking better today

hope everyone is well!

Off to do some blue shopping xx

DillyDora · 30/04/2010 09:10

Morning all, thought I'd better report. Came home about 9.15 to find a big bunch of flowers in the hallway with a heart shaped note saying sorry (he had cut it out himself!!! toooo cute!) and an offer of mussels and chips. Bless. So, a very sorry boy and although we'll have to have a bit of a talk at the weekend I wasn't going to be a grump last night. Thanks for all the support!!

Floozie Hmm.... such a tough decision, I'm so sorry! Maybe it's worth that £400 - mind you, who has £400 kicking about spare? Hope you get some clarity over the next few days.

Glad you're feeling a bit better Nymph. Katy I love the name Samuel, it's on my list too, a fine choice.

Gotta run now - student presentations all day but have a good day everyone.
xxx

Elsa probably better a wet dog than a crap ccovered one!

RooBear · 30/04/2010 09:13

where did you ladies get your boobs measured for materninty bras? I figured its about time I got it sorted!

jennimoo · 30/04/2010 09:38

I went to m&s for bras(at about 8 weeks) and they were OK, but I had to insist on going up a size for a bit of room, and good job i did as I've about filled it up now at 17 weeks!
