Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

Hi everyone, had my Midwife appointment today and not got my next for another 13 weeks
Reviewing my notes of my last pregnancy at 20 weeks though which im nervous about.
Midwife is wanting to know now whether i want a c-section or a home birth as want to avoid anything similar to last birth. Still dont know what will be best for me and my fears IYKWIM.
It is still warm in Northampton but the sun is hiding behind a cloud.
I am glad someone else has ridiculous itching i thought it was just me.

lilmissmummy · 19/04/2010 13:53

It is a bit worrying the whole money thing. Dh had a very bad year last year, his business went into administration and we lost all our savings and had to downsize the house. But he has a job now and we will work our way through, live on a reasonable budget and enjoy the smaller things in life for a while.

We have lovely sunshine today, luckily, as I send dc in summer uniform today! where is this rain? I am in the south west and it is lovely.

roobear great package! bet you're relieved!

nymph the doctor gave me a nasal spray and it works wonders, he also gave me some chlorphenamine (piriton) to take at night and it works wonders. I can sleep now too! phew

nineth your ds sounds adorable

sam sending you the last of the mini eggs to cheer you up today

lilmissmummy · 19/04/2010 13:57

cross posts

tyson I have never liked the idea of a home birth personally but some of my friends have had them and found them so easy and relaxing to be in your own home and then get into your own bed after baby has been born.

Katy86 · 19/04/2010 14:41

very happy for you roobear x

Nymphadora · 19/04/2010 14:48

Just spoken to hosp & am changing to hosp care. Had to change consultants too but after this ams phone call to MW i can't be bothered with her.

Katy86 · 19/04/2010 14:59

i think youve done the right thing nymph now you can relax more and enjoy your pregnancy. I also read your other thread on your midwife and you need someone you can trust and feel you can ask questions
xx

Katy86 · 19/04/2010 15:01

also have any of you eperienced dry skin on your faces that you have never had before? Moisturiser (sorry if thats spelt wrong) is not really helping...just wondering?x

RooBear · 19/04/2010 15:08

I have Katy86 I found using baby products on my body and just face wipes for my face (simple are great)never had dry skin before but find the less products I use the better it is x

Katy86 · 19/04/2010 15:11

oh brilliant thanks roobear ill give that a go!x

floozietoozie · 19/04/2010 15:21

Tyson, what happened last time? I planned to have a home birth with ds.... Best laid plans and all that. One of my sisters had both her kids at home and my mum had me and her at home too. This time I have to be consultant led but if I get to 37 weeks then I can do what I like apparently, but I think I'd go for the hospital's midwife-led unit rather than home. Although i do now have a big corner bath in this house, if we haven't got rid of it before babes arrives .

Thank god I'm home and can lie down. 5.30 alarm today for work at 6.30. I never sleep well the night before it.

Hevster · 19/04/2010 15:32

RooBear hurrah for the civil service, ther the mat benefits and part time working conds are great lets hope we still have a job after the election!

Nymph well done on getting your care changed, we shouldn't have to put up with extra crap when being pregnant is so flipping hard anyway. Tyson what was so bad last time that midwife is offering a choice? I want a section after last time but don't know if i have a good enough case so am delaying raising it till after 20 week scan.

tiredfeet · 19/04/2010 16:35

I am so impressed at all you people who are managing to study. I am having to drop out of my masters because I missed so much due to hyperemesis. I miss going in to uni and the learning side of things, but not sure I could have stayed motivated to do much extra studying now the sun is out!

Nymph good for you for changing your midwife, I really hope you start to get better care now

Hermya321 · 19/04/2010 16:52

Roobear Nahh not an option for us at the moment as we're still in rentsville (yay for us), we couldn't afford to buy a shed where we live anyway at the moment. I think we will cope financially, we just might not be able to afford a holiday in the Algarve otherwise known as Skeggy this year .

Nymph Brilliant news about changing to hospital care and changing your consultant. Hopefully now you'll get better care.

floozie and Hevster i was abit odd after having ds and slept for nearly 2 whole days and punched and kicked a MW and Doctor so missed those precious first hours but i suffer very bad migraines and felt one coming on before i went 'crazy' but on my notes they have pretty much classed me as 'crazy' so reviewing my notes to try and get that removed as it is wrong. Also had a second degree tear which was horrid and couldnt have sex for a year after ds was born
Aiming more towards home birth at moment as dont really want to be stuck in a hospital as they kept pumping drugs into me which made me sleep so long to my belief.
Woke up loving baby and feeling normal, thank god.

Elsa123 · 19/04/2010 17:23

That must have been awful for you Tyson- yes you do need the loon marker removed to be replaced by liable to severe migraine post birth or something. Well done for swapping care Nymph.

I went shopping today and Monsoon has a tonne of stuff that's floaty and suitable for maternity, so I bought 2 tops, a shrug cardigan and also a pink shift dress with a dead baggy tummy. I then found a lovely maternity and baby shop- called Mummy and Little Me ( I think) they didn't have any size 8 trousers, but are going to get me some- but they did sell lovely Hot Milk underwear and I bough a bra and knickers (32FF eeek) that look actually nice! A successful day all told.

Hevster · 19/04/2010 17:47

tyson what a nightmare they should def remove that, at least if you had a home birth you wouldn't get drugs pumped into you.
Elsa123 nice work on the shopping, I invested in a pair of GAP maternity jeans today but need a bumpband to keep them up!

Hope everyone else has being enjoying the sunshine

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 19/04/2010 17:53

Tyson- it's well worth having a look at different options to afford triggers from your last experience, and find a sympathetic mw. Have you got money for a doula? Someone constant who can stand up for you during labour? I hope they remove the crazy tag from your records.

Elsa - good shopping skills! I had a look too and decided it was only really mat trousers I need to buy- the normal shops are full of float empire line things that are so much nicer!

Hermya321 · 19/04/2010 18:35

Tyson How awful for you, I'm not surprised you're going for a home birth.

Elsa Muchose respect on the shopping skills.

Yay Nunnie fantastic news!!!!!!!!!!!

Hevster · 19/04/2010 19:38

nunnie excellent news, I like this business of getting next scan date when you have the first scan.

BackAgain · 19/04/2010 19:42

Nunnie - really pleased about scan news

Hevster - I am the same with my Gap maternity jeans - forever having to pull them up

Had a lovely day with DD today but rain no sunshine for us (Nottinghamshire) - back to revising now though.

Good luck to everyone else who is studying

NinthWave · 19/04/2010 20:53

I'm not bothering with under-bump trousers/jeans at all this time round - spent far too much time showing my builder's bum/hitching them up during my last pregnancy!

I've just ordered some maternity leggings from Next online, I've got plenty of tunics/dresses that will look fine over the top until I get huge. Though I seem to be the same size at 15 weeks as I was at about 20/22 weeks last time!

ATM I've got one pair of amazing comfy flattering over-the-bump trousers that I wear nearly every day...thankfully htey're tumble dryer safe!

floozietoozie · 19/04/2010 20:56

Hurrah for scan nunnie!

Tyson, if the actual birth was ok apart from tear I'd definitely go for home birth. Much less stressful all round (no consultants to punch either!!). That's crap they've labelled you in such a way.

I still, despite two scans and the nausea, can't quite believe I'm pregnant. I didn't tell work today, was a bit of mad day with lots of people in and my manager not really available so am deferring till tomorrow when the mix looks better. I'm a bit nervous about telling my manager because she's absolutely lovely but has been ttcing for a few years now and is 41. We've had lots of chats about it and she knew I'd decided to go in for ivf this year and I know she'll be thrilled for me that it happened naturally in the end because she's not petty in any way but I know from experience what it's like when everyone but you is getting pregnant. I don't want to hurt her iykwim even though I can't help this of course.

VMumToBe · 19/04/2010 21:45

Aw Floozie that's v sweet to think of your boss. Happens to different people in different ways, but I cannot believe that anyone has never not been delighted at the news, I think it's human nature!

Just got some piriton from the doc for hayfever, which is a bit bizarre as it's banned for preg women in the states. But then they get clarityn, which is banned for us here! strange.....

Got wonderful M&S black jersey wrap dress today - highly recommended. Makes me look half human!!
