Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

hi everyone

I am new to this discussion, have come from the other october group, would like to keep touch with both when I have time to.

shieldbug · 18/04/2010 22:12

seashells As you say, such sad news really makes you count your blessings. How awful for his family.

Sorry, can't remember who asked about the aches in the bump. I have had aches throughout pg so far, and they get much more intense when I am tired. They act as a good indicator that I have been overdoing things. Neither the mw or the consultant have seemed worried about them . Their philosophy seems to be as long as there's no bleeding, it's all ok.

I am also a student, so feel for those of you studying at the moment. It's not as bad for me though as I am doing a PhD so there's no exams and I am working to my own schedule (until the funding runs out of course!)

nymph everything still tastes horrid to me too. Unfortunately I then feel like I have to eat more to try to get rid of the nasty taste. Stupid, I know!

shieldbug · 18/04/2010 22:14

welcome waterbabemum. When are you due?

Nymphadora · 18/04/2010 22:27

shieldbug I have taken to esating things with chillies and onions to disguise it. Loving spring onion & tomato sandwiches at the moment! I have started on chocolate again and drinking pepsi a bit.

Hi waterbabemum

lilmissmummy · 18/04/2010 23:26

Hi to everyone and all the newbies since Thursday! love the new bigger group!

It was my ds 9th birthday Saturday so Friday I had a house full of boys and then Saturday the family descended and now i am absolutely exhausted.

I didnt answer Friday questions:

I met dh at a Firework house party, opened the door and it was love at first sight for both of us .

First gig I went to was the Backstreet Boys concert and All Saints were their warm-up band.

The place that I would rather be would be in Turkey - LOVE Turkey.

The best thing about pregnancy is the way that my dh looks at my tummy .

Dh will definitely be changing nappies.

Everything tastes horrid to me too, I am really really itchy and I have absolutely zero energy after about 20 minutes of doing anything! I have done very little housework since I fell pregnant and it is driving me crazy so hoping the energy comes back soon. I've been getting stretchy achy pains too. 6 months to go!!

I have my second 12 week scan on Tuesday and also FINALLY my midwifes appointment so I hope to reporting good news to you all then!! Still a bit worried but have had 1 scan showing our baby so that has put my mind at rest a little!

lilmissmummy · 18/04/2010 23:27

sorry bout the long post!

Hermya321 · 19/04/2010 08:59

lilmiss Gosh I know what you mean, I'm the same at the moment. I'm so so tired and have fallen pray to heartburn and insomnia, fantastic isn't it!

Nymphadora · 19/04/2010 09:25

I've been on tums for weeks for trapped wind & indegestion. Just waiting on heartburn now!

Spoken to MW and can get my form on Wed so hopefully can make my tablets last til then. Can't see my GP til next week as he is on holiday so am waiting rather than seeing someone else and crying about MW to them.

Asked MW about hayfever and she said don't take anything except eyedrops/inhalers. Going to have to ask GP about something for allergies though as I have a tendancy to react more in pg.

NinthWave · 19/04/2010 09:50

SeaShells that's awful, your poor boss's family

Nymphadora I checked in my NHS pregnancy book, and it says that a GP can prescribe small doses of Loratidine (i.e. Clarityn) for allergies/hayfever, if your symptoms are bad.

I can't believe how long it's taken them to get your exemption certificate to you - my chemist let me tick the 'exempt' box befoe I got my form, but I remember you saying on the previous thread that yours wouldn't let you. Do you think you can get a refund on the charges you've already paid?

I'm not in work today - had some annual leave to use up before the end of April, so am off this morning and again next Thursday I only work 18 hours a week, so am enjoying some nice long weekends! Plus it's the May bank holiday in 2 weeks, and then I've got ANTOTHER 2 weeks' annual leave in May - my 30th birthday is the 26th so am making plans for Nice Stuff to do with DH and DS while it is still just the three of us.

My DS has gone from being a bit suspicious to being really lovely about the new baby...he gives my tummy a kiss every night before bed, and today asked if he could say 'good morning' to the baby...he gave my belly a kiss and a hug, it was so cute I nearly cried! He tried to feed the baby some toast the other day, that was...sticky

dontstopmenow · 19/04/2010 09:58

Morning all!

Just to add to the other posts - I am also a student. Student nurse in this case and it is slowly killing me off! Working shifts + pregnant + uni work + a 3 yr old DS are, it appears, not a good combination! The dissertation is done though so happy days there!

I think I had better stop internetting and start ironing! How sad.

Nymphadora · 19/04/2010 10:08

don'tstopme I guess you are nearly finished your course then?

ninthwave Should be able to claim it back but whether it works or not...

Katy86 · 19/04/2010 10:08

morning everyone! hope you all have lovely days in this glorious weather!x

Elsa123 · 19/04/2010 10:17

Morning! Day off today- managed to walk the dogs before it started to rain which was cool- off to the uni now to get some books for the next module- joy of joys.

Nymph- don't forget to call the doc!

Have a good day everyone x x

Nymphadora · 19/04/2010 10:23

I've got rain today! Well only a bit and I have workmen outside so I'm stuck upstairs anyway

Katy86 · 19/04/2010 10:26

oh no not rain!!! its gorgeous outside at the moment...the rains probably on its way over booooo x

sam12 · 19/04/2010 10:44

It is raining here! Plus it is the first day back at work after the Easter hols and I hardly slept a wink- not in a good mood today!

RooBear · 19/04/2010 10:50

Morning everyone! feeling great today as I was worried about maternity pay and how we'd cope ( as I'd lose over £700 a month) but my boss told me this morning I qualify for their enhanced maternity package - full pay for 6 months!!! I can finally relax now and enjoy the 2nd trimester (HOW EXCITING)

ILoveGregoryHouse · 19/04/2010 11:00

RooBear. Good for you. What a relief.

It's sunny here btw. As usual.

Nymphadora · 19/04/2010 11:20

roobear that's a good package!

Hermya321 · 19/04/2010 11:22

roobear I'm the same we'll loose over £700 a month as well when I go on maternity leave. I'm really hoping that tax credits will help us out a little otherwise we're going to really struggle and I would have to go back to work earlier. My Dh has really struggled to find work this past year and has now finally managed to find a permanent job, but the pay is terrible. I mean it's better than nothing, but it means that we'll still rely a lot on my wage. You got to work to live haven't you, the bills won't get paid by themselves (I really wish they would though).

OP posts:
RooBear · 19/04/2010 11:41

hermy321 before we found out i'd be on full pay we thought about dropping our morgage to interest only for a couple of years as we are only young so it wouldn't matter, is that an option for you? btw I read somewhere that tax credit is- £45 a month basic (if joint incomes are between £22k and £60k a year) plus an extra £45 a month if DC is under one year old , child benefit is £20 a week regardless of wage. Its our first so trying to find out everything!

Nymphadora · 19/04/2010 11:59

Is it bad I haven't even looked at finances? Dh has a good job & hopefully my house will have sold but potentially we have 3 morgages

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 19/04/2010 13:09

No nymph it's not bad! I daren't look or I think I'll cry!! Finances ruined by ds' mat leave, no additional mat pay (1500 a month income drop) then relocation and I'm part time temping and only ma if I'm lucky this time round!! Oh, and 5 degrees between us.

But we cope, we are not extravagant and we have our food shop as our luxury each week- no busy social life with ds and relocation

we keep reminding ourselves that in 10 years time we will both be working, have 10/12 yr old kids and still young enough to enjoy it. Our friends will not have saved (blowing it currently on surf boards and motorbikes) and be older and in the thick
of it all.

We reiterate this to ourselves nightly!!

Ver very envious of some of the mat packages here-6montgs full pay!!!!wow!!!

Pension plan = lottery win

Nymphadora · 19/04/2010 13:22

In 10 years time dh won't be far off retiring

RooBear · 19/04/2010 13:27

yeah I know I'm lucky, work for the MOD so am one of those annoying Civil Servants the Daily Mail rant on about its not a bad thing nymph me and DH are both the type to worry and plan ahead about these things! quite proud of us though, we save save save so at the age 22 and 26 we have money in the ISA, no debt and a healthy morgage, while our friends still live at home and waste money away. Although I'm envious now I know (like seashells) in ten years or so our expenses will be a lot less and we can enjoy ourselves later on, maybe be one of those couples on escape to the country who have half a million to spend on retirement! dreams..............
