Cosmosis · 14/04/2010 17:10

yes mine is also v faint. Apparently if it goes to your belly button you're having a girl, if further up, you're having a boy. mine does not reach my belly button. further artichoke proof methinks.

rollerbaby · 14/04/2010 17:27

Poo! Am very much hoping you won a baybee. Have no idea what your chart means. I gave up on all of that when I was a) having sneaky drinks of an evening b) couldn't read thermometer in the dark mornings. However, I am well versed in the dark arts of clearblue fertility monitor which is much better for simpletons like me.

Okie there is a weird psychic link going on here. I have literally just spent 30 minutes researching central and sw london yoga and pilates (also considering meditation) and have cmoe to the conclusion that it is f**king pricey. £62 for a private pilates session. WTF? I am not madonna. Will keep looking.

Skater glad you had a nice time in the upsidedown place. And you got a bump.

My latest form of irritation is a nice big juicy ulcer right on my gum. Bonjela anyone?

iggypiggy · 14/04/2010 17:42

moo I found a yoga class near me and is £10 a session. Which is ok? I am se London tho...

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 14/04/2010 18:22

Hello hello. I have had to reform my appalling work habits, so if I am on during the day, slap me. Really, it's too much of a distraction and I don't have the self-discipline to handle it (pathetic).

Poo your chart sounds very encouraging. I never plucked up the courage to launch myself into the world of charting, thereby outing myself to boyfy as a bit more obsessed than I had led him to believe, but triphasic is v. encouraging according to TCOYF. I have everything crossed and agree that it only takes one lucky SWI!

Sorry about the tonsilitis horror ski. All the penicillin based anti-bs are fine and I think they are the ones they use for that anyway. Hope they work really quickly.

pony I think that a low sugar diet might use some of the same principles as the "candida diet" that a friend of mine once had to do for a generalised yeast infection. You could google it for a pretty comprehensive list of foods to avoid (including quite a few fruits actually...)
BTW: as someone else mentioned, your "lumbering giant" bon mot did make me snort out loud too.

reggie you've stumped me with your liquorice lettuce. I haven't had much salad really, what with the toxoplasmosis scare-mongering, so I'm at a loss.

I am interested in this linea negrea cos. I have nothing yet obviously, but I feel sure this awaits me, to join with and enhance my charming, feminine line of horrible black hairs running down from my bellybutton, that pre-date all this. Sure the sonographer will love them...

I'm glad to hear all the peeps here in good form in general. I got an email from a friend today who I hadn't seen in a while, telling me she'd recently had a miscarriage at eight weeks. Sad, sad, sad.I had no idea.

reginaMonologue · 14/04/2010 19:38

switty toxoplasmosis, yeah that's a worry, though I'm sure I've inadvertently had my hands in cat sh*t at some point in my life, so what's a girl to do? Just make sure I rinse everything thoroughly I guess. Soz to hear about your friend, makes you realise how big the 12 week hurdle is .

No Negrea here, or mask of pregnancy, though I do have a fine set of Montgomery's developing ( I have resisted the urge to squeeze, though I've noticed secretions...nice!) Have also now firmly decided my uterus is noticeable, if not on the outside, I'm defo aware that it's growing on the inside, a bit like bloating I suppose, but a bit more OTT. It's quite cool in a way, because I feel like I'm walking around with something going on.

CurlyCasper · 14/04/2010 19:56

leetle jealous of the linea nagra. I doubt someone as pasty as moi would ever get one. I think I'll aim for a freckle cluster instead...

OkieCokie · 14/04/2010 21:00

honey my psychic friend I am happy joining a class and they all seem around the £12-£14 mark which is still a bit steep but less Madonna-esque than private lesson. I found a Yoga class very close to me (Annouska's yoga if you care to google) but diffed classes are 6.00 Sun eve which is bang on bath time (for wee one, not me) or 11.00 Tues morning for all the SAHMs and clearly I work. There are some evening classes at the Vitality Centre which could work out. Bit of a trek for you but you can hop in your 4X4 you can be there in a jiffy

Also, I have mouth ulcers! I have had them one after another since 4 weeks! In fact I am soooo fed up I am going to the dentist in the morning to see if there is some underlying ishooo. I have tried early nights, Corsodyl, bonjela and none of them have worked (I draw the line at a salt water mouth wash but if that what dentist says I have to do then I will).

Pony excuse my ignorance but I am still fairly new but why the crutches? Is this pregnancy and SDP related? Sorry to hear you are less mobile than some OHPs although I do like the idea of having a tartan trolley and can see great benefit in having one!

SkaterGrrrrl · 14/04/2010 21:18

Chaps, if anyone needs to buy maternity pillows, this website is doing free delivery, chucking in free pillow cases plus a 10% discount with offer code 'spring10'.

www.pregnancypillow.co.uk/

According to the wisdom of MN a good V shaped pillow helps sleeping in pregnancy, is a good breastfeeding support later on and you can prop the baby up in it when s/he is learning to sit.

CUNextTuesday · 14/04/2010 21:42

Can someone answer me a bit of a naive question - what does one do on a birthing ball and how is it meant to help?

skihorse · 15/04/2010 05:02

skater We talked about pregnancy pillows last week whilst you were swanning around in Orstralia - general consensus seems to buy two... because you will return from the loo in the middle of the night to discover your dear precious wrapped around it with a contented look upon his face. We all love them.

cunty According to rots it does good things for your pelvis & skeletal system in general and makes the baybee go head down.

I have no linea - and no hope that the sickness will leave me. I think I'm just one of those unlucky bastards - or maybe I've done a deal with God and I'm "taking it for the team" - really, no need to thank me!

OP posts:
SkaterGrrrrl · 15/04/2010 07:20

Thanks for suffering on behalf of international PESH-hood!

SkaterBoy will get a sharp jab in the ribs if he snaffles my pregnancy pillow!

skihorse · 15/04/2010 08:54

Longwee got a win! Can't wait to compare midwife/healthcare with her!

Skater I'd do anything for the PESH-hood - within reason of course, I'm not doing vaginal varicose veins for any of you. Not even my own son!

OkieCokie · 15/04/2010 09:05

Ski you know what they say about sickness throughout pregnancy? You will "do birth well" so every cloud and all that!

I am so confused about which pillow to buy I still have not got one. The dreamgenii doesn't look to be great for after the birth and I want a multipurpose one ie for sleeping, feeding and proping baby up. Any suggestions oracle of the PESH?

Off to dentist now to see if he can fix my ulcer ridden mouth, and manky pregnancy gums.

skihorse · 15/04/2010 09:07

Okie I have honestly never heard that one - but I love it!

OP posts:
OkieCokie · 15/04/2010 09:08

Oh and cunty as Ski says balls are good for baby positioning rather than slouching on the sofa. I personally found it annoying and not great for watching the TV on, but I know some rate them highly. The most use I got out of mine was in the early stages of labour and then it was tres tres comfortable.

CUNextTuesday · 15/04/2010 10:10

Did you just bounce to take your mind off the contractions?

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 15/04/2010 10:54

Great news on a new BESH win. Hurrah for more Peshes to come and swell the ranks.

I have a question for everyone: did you all get those Montgomery things that honey and reggie have? I read in my shiny new book last night that they are considered a pretty standard symptom in the first tri. Well, I have absolutely NO sign of them and that, together with a suspected reduction of other symptoms, have been fanning the flames of total paranoia.

I know, I know, but it's hard not to worry - the story of cunty's friend was really sad, not to mention my own poor friend that I mentioned yesterday. So, it's been nagging at me a bit. Boyfy feels sure that if anything was wrong, I would know. But that doesn't really help, 'cause I know it's not true.

So views on the tubercles please. I do have a scan on Monday by the way. So, I'll have a clear answer on how it's all going then anyway.

Ponymum · 15/04/2010 10:58

Yay for longwee!!

Forgot to mention weird gender comment from the midwife yesterday. She asked if we know what we're having and I said we think it's a boy, to which she replied "Oh, it will be great if it's a boy because then you won't have to do it again." I assured her most emphatically that whatever pops out, I am not doing this again. MrP was horrified when I told him, as if there is some obligation on me to produce him a male heir. Very weird.

okie Yes my crutches thang is because of SPD. Basically my pelvis is falling apart and gives me stabbing, throbbing nasty pains if I move. To get about I have to wear a weird massive belt with six arms to hold myself together. Otherwise wheelchair. But I count myself lucky as with the right exercises it will go away after the baby is born. My physio said "There's nothing actually wrong with your pelvis, it just doesn't like being pregnant." (A bit like its owner.)

Pregnancy pillows - I have one of these: a Widgey pillow which I used for breastfeeding plus baby support last time and thoroughly recommend. I honestly could not have done without it and tried to take it everywhere with me! But I never thought to use in as pregnancy pillow too so will dig it out and give it go tonight.

Ponymum · 15/04/2010 11:01

switty no sign of Montgomery's for me.

rollerbaby · 15/04/2010 11:02

Okiepokey ta for the yoga research. I will have a look at the vitality centre (where is that?). Sunday could work well for me... can you not get mr pokey to take over bath time on sundays? hope you get your ulcers sorted. Weirdly mine popped up after some extra fiery salsa and then went right away. Fine by me.

I love pillows. I might buy them all.

Does anyone have any big maternity boulder holder bra recommendations? I bought 2 from Jo jo maman and they are SHIT. My boobs have formed one giant monoboob.

Witty stop worrying. Consider yourself fortunate not to have pus filled spots on your bazookas.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 15/04/2010 11:36

Ta for that pony it cheers me up no end. So sorry for the SPD hell though. It sounds so horrendous. You are very brave. In fact, gentle hugs around your giant belt.

Guilty snigger at the monoboob. No point telling me not to worry honey - all your fault for flaunting your tubercles at me.

rollerbaby · 15/04/2010 11:58

Ooh okie I LOVE the look of vitality centre and v easy for me to get there (5 mins max in the bus). I'd like to do pre natal yoga and pilates and maternity fitness. Me want buns of steel pleeze. My pelvic floor is woeful. It's a miracle I make it to the loo sometimes.

OkieCokie · 15/04/2010 12:23

Pony that sounds painful. Good thing it is relatively short lived.

moo-ster get yourself down to Amelie's Follies (Webbs Road) for an over the shoulder boulder holder. I too have large ones and theirs were pretty good (not the nicest looking but hey, us with big ones are never going to fit into Elle Macpherson maternity ones). Or try Hot Milk, I think Blooming Marvellous do them (Bellvue Road). Re yoga/pilates email me at okie cokie at google mail dot com and we can discuss!

cunty yes the ball just seemed to each ease pressure during mild contractions. I tried to use it in hospital too but I had so many wires getting in the way it was grief but I would have liked to use it more.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 15/04/2010 12:36

ROFL @ ski doing ANYTHING daintily
ROFL @ bouncing on preggo ball "taking your mind" off contractions

OK I'll stop insulting everyone now, but cunty will post asap re benefits of sitting on balls. Oh hahaha I'm so funny. But really, I will. 60 year old woman in AT on Tuesday said how much she likes bouncing on balls. Small minds, blah blah.

YAY for long!!! FABULOUS.

pony why are you worried about breech a) this early and b) when you're getting a CS? Grip woman. .

Love yas, sorry to post and run.

BTW I don't like my dream genii. More laters.

Ponymum · 15/04/2010 13:36

rots No, breech is not such a bad thing for me - in fact obviously if someone has to be breech rather me than one of you hoping for a polite cough home birth thing.

I guess it's just a bit of a downer because it indicates to me that I'm doing all the 'wrong' things in this pg - not leaning on balls and keeping active, but slouching on the sofa with my fat legs in the air. I am also wondering what is going to be harder on my pelvis towards the end - a head wedging itself downwards, or a bottom? I am hoping that the bottom simply won't go down and he will keep lying crossways further up, possibly putting less direct pressure on my pelvis? But I have no idea how these things go.

Also, I'm not that far from the end, only 8 weeks to go. I had a wail to myself last last night, as assuming that cheggs has popped (Cheggs, where are you?) there are no other PESHes left ahead of me in the baby queue! I had the most horrendous kicky pains last night like he is desperately trying to violently bash his way out, and I can't bear the thought that he's only going to get bigger and more violent, but there's no-one else ahead of me to provide reassurance.

And I don't know whether being breech is making him really uncomfortable and unhappy. Could that be the case? I used to think that the kicking was him having fun practicing his break dancing moves, but now it just feels angry and painful.

Or is it all in my head? If so, please, excuse pg menkulness?
