ooh two Team Pink members!

I had another very vivid baby dream last night only this time it was a girl- born 2 months early weighing 6lbs 5

CazEM · 22/03/2010 16:32

Thanks! Has everyone else had a good day?!

I've had the slowest afternoon every in work (too excited to be in work!!), so I left as soon as the kids left! Going to do the grandparent rounds next and show them their beautiful granddaughter! Pop a bottle of pink champers for our pink baby!

Wow I haven't been on here for about a month and now you're on your umpteenth thread! Can't keep up! Hope I am still welcome having been away for so long - I brought big chocolate cake if that sways anyone!!!

The morning sickness is showing some sign of subsiding thankfully but I'm not going to count my chickens just yet.

We've decided not to find out sex of the baby so I assume this makes me team yellow.

Updating the list with my new due date and other info!

possiblenewmum · 22/03/2010 18:18

Wow, i also haven't been on here for a few weeks and seem to have missed a couple of threads in between but never mind. Went to the midwife today and everything good. Thankfully my BP is back down to normal again so i don't need to worry about being told to give up work before i had planned to start maternity leave. I love hearing the heartbeat. We have our 20wk scan on friday and will find out if its a boy or girl so i'll update the list then.

I only started feeling the baby move last week (19wks), i had felt some wierd things before but took me ages to figure out it was definitely the baby and not wind! but now i'm pretty convinced i can feel it moving and kicking. I'm very behind but i guess most of you have felt it for weeks? I can't get enough of it now. What a tremendous feeling!

cazzybabs · 22/03/2010 20:17

I had my hosptial meeting as had cs last time...it was a bit all depressing, but it sounded like they would let me go overdue and are happy for a VBAC...but have to have monitering esp. as have history of high BP ..

so all in all am a bit depressed about the whole thing although it hasn't come as suprise

Alicetheinvisible · 22/03/2010 21:37

Hello ladies

Cazzy is that at addenbrookes? I found the consultant really helpful wrt VBAC, but i suppose everyone wants different things/ways to do it.

Caro i feel the same as you atm. Nothing fits, i feel huge, unfit and bloody starving all the time.

Exactly 20weeks today and have scan on friday.

cazzybabs · 22/03/2010 21:40

Yes - no they were helpful .. but a hands off birth it is not going to be...

full monitoring which I don't want, no water birth - oh well ...I just need to get my head around it more

Alicetheinvisible · 22/03/2010 21:49

That is pretty much what i was told. I was pleased with the fact they wouldn't let me be in active labour for 24hrs again though
My plan will be to rest for as long as possible in the early stages, and then to be quietly mobile for as long as i'm allowed and to resist the pain medication for as long as possible.
I'm sure the biggest issue last time was the fact that i was recovering from a badly broken leg and had only been off crutches for about 8weeks. I tried to keep as active as possible during the early stages thinking it would help things along, all it did was make me so exhausted that i had pethidene then an epidural and although pain free, i don't think it helped as everything slowed right down.

tunise · 22/03/2010 22:07

Hello there! Is it too late to join you all? Have quickly skimmed over the last full thread- it seems to move very quickly!
Am expecting baby number 4, due date August 12th, 20 week scan on 31st March,i'm 31 and in Suffolk.

CazEM · 23/03/2010 07:16

Good morning all!

tunise it is never too late to join! Welcome, I'm sure Cherry will add you to the list later on!

Had a lovely evening last night, everyone is very excited about our little girl and enjoyed their pink champagne! I'm shattered today! Haha all my scans have been on a Monday and then the busyness and excitment wipes me out for the rest of the week. V early night tonight I reckon! Glad for 2 weeks off after this week!

Oh had about 3 mouthfuls or undercooked chicken last night, how worried should I be?? Didn't notice till 3rd mouthful because it was the middle that was still pink and squidgy. (I didn't cook the chicken btw, I'm religious about overcooking chicken, was at MILs house...)

Have a good day everybody!

ElusiveMoose · 23/03/2010 08:21

Hi everyone, sorry I've been quiet for a few days. Welcome to Tunise, and congratulations to all team pink-ers. Caz, I shouldn't worry about the chicken - if it didn't make you ill at the time, then I think you're fine.

All's well here, though I'm starting to get quite tired. Only partly due to the pregnancy - also because DS is waking earlier and earlier because of the lighter mornings. He's gone from averaging 7.30 to averaging 6.15 in the space of a month or so . Roll on the clock change on Saturday night - at least that might buy us a happier few weeks before the 5am wakings start in June .

Also, DH is quite grumpy at the moment - he's got a school trip coming up over Easter, which he's very stressed about, and then a big internal inspection at the start of next term. Bless him, he's not very good at separating work from the rest of his life, so he's quite tired and stroppy at the moment. Hey ho, at least we're not having the baby now; he should be nice and chilled again by around May .

BTW, blueberries was it you who had your carpets cleaned recently? I keep thinking about it and feeling a bit glum that I've actually NEVER had my carpets professionally cleaned . And mine are oatmeal too. Probably won't do it until after loft conversion and baby, but just wondered - how much does it cost, roughly? And how much of a pain is it? Do you have to move all your furniture???

CherryPie3 · 23/03/2010 08:29

Morning Girls Just had pineapple for beakfast - yum!!! At my desk Its a sunny day - I wanna go home now dammit!!! (unreasonable me? Nah.....)

Tunise HI Welcome to the thread, I have added you to our very long list of August mummies and babies

CazEm Just wondering.....what would you have celebrated with if it was a boy?
I think you should be ok with the chicken, I'm pretty sure british chickens have all been treated for Salmonella. The same goes for runny egg yolks as well (Mmmmmmm boiled egg and bread soldiers ) Oh and I'm very of your 2 weeks off!!

Cazzy Big hugs for you hun, theres plenty of time to still talk things through with your mw, a lot can change in the meantime. Only going by what I've been told by my mw, but she's now suggested that we don't make plans for the birth until we know which position baby has settled in as for all I Know now - cherrybaby might decide that being upside down just isn't for him/her Am desperately hoping for a water birth either on CLU or MLU - having to fight for it tho, is fighting an option for you?

Moose 5am wakings in June, Multiple wakings in August . Would a blackout blind make it easier for you? I'm also very much looking forward to the clock change as both my children are also up at 6:15 too (I don't have b/out blinds yet - on my list of things to buy at the weekend). Hope your dh chills out a bit, sounds like he's got stress upon stress at the moment bless him.

Welcome back possiblenewmum and sparkle - How've you been? Thanks for the choccy cake (who says its too early???)

Morning all!

Welcome tunise never too late to join (well, September might be a bit late, but you know what I mean).

Caz yay to team pink. Urg I wasn't going to find out but I think I'm going to cave..... and I wouldn't worry about the chuck, assuming you're still feeling fine this morning!

Elusive being married to a teacher can be hard work can't it?! I don't think many people quite understand just how high pressure it can be (and how many of your evenings/ weekends get subsumed by marking and prep). An August baby will give him time to get stuff done at the start of the hols and then to get into the holiday swing of things.

Cherry can I have some pineapple. I didn't have dinner last night because I had a migraine/ felt sick. And now I've just loaded on toast and butter naughty.

Have my '16 week' midwife appointment at 9.30. Hoping she'll let me hear the LO's heartbeat and it isn't as much of a disaster as last time (when she left me with a trainee who was incapable of spelling my name/ address right/ getting my due date right, hence my 16 week appointment at 18 weeks). Off to pee into a pot....

Have a good day, lovely and sunny hear but I've loads of work to do

Morning! Working from home today so going to be super disciplined and NOT spend my entire day on Mumsnet

Anyway, elusive yes I'm the one with the super clean carpets The guy we get to do them is fab. He's very reasonable (£100 for living room, 2 bedrooms and small hallway including stain guard) and very lovely. What we do before he comes is give the carpets a quick hoover (more out of pride than anything!)then lift everything off the floor that we can - so all the stuff that's stashed under our bed gets put on the bed, ds's toy boxes, rugs, small tables that sort of thing. Then he puts tin foil under all furniture legs and moves what he needs to move to clean the carpets. Some things we tell him not to bother moving - like a large chest of drawers in our bedroom that would fall to bits if leaned on and the TV cabinet, which would also fall to bits if moved. But the house feels sooooooo clean now. Waiting for them to dry is a bit of a pain if the weather isn't great, but it just means you have to remember to wear slippers for 24 hours. We have them done about twice a year - makes such a difference. I can give you their number if you like - we live South Croydon/Purley area so not too far from Kent so he might travel out to you or recommended someone else.

Welcome tunise

Right, off to do some serious work now - so keep it down to a dull roar in here please and don't try to distract me. I need to be professional today!

(oh, and I've got to take ds for his pre-school boosters today so might need a hefty chunk of chocolate cake to see me through!)

CherryPie3 · 23/03/2010 08:44

pampletoast and butter sounds lovely - I seriously overloaded myself with it over the weekend simply because I couldn't stand very long and it didn't take long to cook.

Damn, now I want some toast!!!

Hope your mw appointment goes swimmingly

oops, sorry blueberries, didn't see you there!

I need a bit of cheering up today so thought pancakes and maple syrup might do it.
I've got a stonking cold with a lovely chesty cough and DD's got another crappy fever so she's been up all night for 4 nights in a row. All I need are a couple of decent nights of sleep and at the mo there's no way I'm going to get them I'm feeling miserable today and I can't even go out to the toddler group to pass the time - double
Hello tunise!

soontobefatnat · 23/03/2010 10:07

Morning all - pancakes and maple syrup Chulita...mmm...if only I could be arsed...that said, I am going to Toronto and then NYC in a couple of days, so perhaps I should hold off for the real deal? Museli and yoghurt it is! Anyway, hope you and DD feel better soon.

Am at home today, even though work is manic and I've got loads of stuff to finish off before I leave for N. America on Thurs...

I was at work in our Surrey office yesterday (usu based in London) and realised that I had a horrific bout of cystitis. It cropped up from nowhere... tried valiantly to finish off some worky bits, but then went to the loo and found some bleeding too. So effin scary - so I hightailed it out of there and back to London.

Went to the Maternity Assessment Unit at Kings and got checked out after a few agonising hours waiting. Yep on the UTI (although I did not need them to tell me that as I howled on the inside and ran to the loo every 5 seconds...) but really wanted to find out about the bleeding.

It turns out it was from my cervix - which I initially felt freaked out about - but the doctor said that it was quite small and was because my cervix was 'friable'. Never heard this word before, but guess it means sensitive/prone to bleeding.

Feel slightly worried about travelling given all this though, but the dr said it was fine as long as the bleeding eases/doesn't get heavy (haven't had any since yesterday) and my MW said the same this morning when I called. Still feeling a bit worried and sore from the stupid UTI, but I guess I shouldn't overreact and cancel going to a friend's wedding/seeing my family over something very small?

Sorry, Jesus - talk about an essay.

Oh, and to all of you with your lovely scan results, congrats! Keep em coming. So nice to hear about. (Roll on April 23rd for me!)

Rubena · 23/03/2010 10:55

Hello,
Scan last Fri was all good. baby was in terrible anti-social position so was instructed to go for a walk and have a coffee so they could hope for a different position to complete the checks! All worked evntually. We found out sex but keeping it a surprise.
Appointment with consultant tomrrow and getting my CS date.

Same problem here with earlier wakings from ds - although today was normal it has been up to an hour earlier than usual. Off to Argos tomorrow as they do blackout blinds for £5 I think.

Feeling very fat and Carol I can totallt understand. It's hard. I'm the same.

vix206 · 23/03/2010 10:55

Welcome to all the new people I do wish mrsZaC would come back I am really worried about her

A question about midwife appts, I think mine's a bit too chilled out about stuff. Aren't they supposed to actually check stuff when you go? Here's my experience so far...

10 weeks booking in - urine tested, blood tests, blood pressure and weight taken.Given a pot to wee in for next time.

16 weeks - results from bloods, urine tested, DS blood test. Given a pot to pee in for next time. No blood pressure or weight taken, no examinations of me at all.

18 weeks - results for DS. No blood pressure or weight taken, no examinations of me at all. gave her my urine sample and she said 'I'll take care of that for you' and just threw it in the bin!! Gave me another pot for next time.

Next appt is at 25 weeks.

In my books it says they are meant to check height of fundus, blood pressure etc. at every appointment. Is everyone else having these things checked?

Hope everyone is feeling well, I am starving as always and had a really mopey day yesterday for no good reason. Feeling the stress with the house on the market and people keep asking me about maternity leave which is stressing me out seeing as I don't think I'll be taking more than around 6 weeks before I'll be forced to come back part time. As its my own business I have to keep things going or we'll have no livelihood. Hoping to have moved into a larger house by then so work can be at home for a while, otherwise the baby will be coming into the office with us every day
