Or maybe he thinks all this is too much for you at the moment? Shame he sounded like a keeper. Time will tell I guess.

starshaker · 21/03/2010 08:12

Dont think ive stopped crying since he said it, Abd to make a crap weekend worse dd landed on my stomch this morning and i need to go up for a scan to make sure everything is ok with the babies. Pretty sure they are fine cos im not bleeding, just sore.

girlsyearapart · 21/03/2010 08:23

oh what a nightmare. should be fine though, babies are pretty well cushioned inside - nice to have another scan though..

cakeywakey · 21/03/2010 09:04

Really sorry Star you sounded so happy yesterday

marzipananimal · 21/03/2010 09:45

star you poor thing. I hope you can stay good friends. It might just be a time thing - there's clearly a lot going on in your life at the mo and he may feel it's not the best time to start a relationship.
Did he say why he just wants to be friends (sorry if being nosy)
[Big hug]

Aussieng · 21/03/2010 10:30

Star - that's awful, I'm actually quite for you and . Perhaps he should have thought properly about what he wanted before jumping in with both feet.

Don't lose faith honey. I love my DH to bits, couldn't imagine being with anyone else but nevertheless think there are several someones out there for everyone. What you're going through at the moment - it is natural I think to want someone to share that with but I really do believe it will happen when you least expect it.

I'm sure the twins are fine. Everything seems more worrying when you are down, you'd be taking this in your stride if you were feeling more positive. [hugs]

CazEM · 21/03/2010 11:18

Oh star - whats with all the mixed messages?! So sorry for you.

Hows everyone else? My internal central heating has been turned up a notch or two today, boiling!!

Hoping to get out in the lovely weather if I can tear DH away from the bloody xbox. Supposed to be meeting up with friends we went out with last night before they go back home to W.Wales. Lovely extra bday weekend I must say!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone, start or another working week tomorrow!!

LizzieA · 21/03/2010 12:22

< slopes up to cake table and sneaks on a tub of M&S mini-bites while grabbing a plate full of lovely home made delights>

Star , I hope it all sorts itself out.

I'm loving the sunshine, I've hung two loads of washing on the line already this morning.

I'm having a bit of a clothes crisis at the moment, I'm still surviving in my "fat" jeans (I was a 16 when I got pregnant but have been at a tight 20 before now) but I think the time has come for a shopping spree. I'm still at the "is she fat or is it a bump?" stage and can't really get my head around the fact I need maternity clothes. You'd think by 19 weeks I'd have got used to the idea I'm preggers now but I still feel like it's all a lovely dream and some nasty person is going to wake me up. Anyone seen any black maternity jeans about?

A bit of a random question, but when do we get free prescriptions? Is it when we get the form at 24 weeks or as soon as you are pregnant? There's nothing seriously wrong with me but I need some new inhalers and need to speak to the doc about how I'm going to survive summer with no antihistamines for my hay fever. I've had awful hay fever since I was a tot and none of the herbal remedies or eating local honey etc have ever worked. I'm being tight careful with the pennies and thinking that if it's free in a few weeks I'll wait.

Caz didn't you know it's illegal under European Law to mention Monday and going back to work until after Antiques Roadshow on a Sunday evening!

Aussieng · 21/03/2010 12:45

Y'know I'm so in winter mode, I never even thought to put the washing on the line [dashes out to the tumbler to drag the sheets out]

My free dental care has kicked in already so I presume that you get free prescriptions etc right from the start. Here, we don't get the MAT1B until week 25 but if you need prescriptions etc they will give it early (if needed) and my dentist's receptionist just glanced at my maternity notes and accepted that.

DH and I are going to the pub for the afternoon (newspapers and J20 for me of course).

weehector · 21/03/2010 14:04

Star I'm so sorry. He sounds confused but hopefully you'll be able to talk it through with him and stay good friends.

Today is the day of the posh wedding. The good news is that the pair of dressy Whistles trousers with the satin stripe down the side still fit under the bump. The bad news is that paired with the only top that still fits, a strappy sequin number that is an old favourite to go with jeans for girlie cocktail nights, I look like an out of condition shotputter dressed up for Sports Personality of the Year. It's so not the effect I was hoping for and with hours to go, its too late to say to hang with it and splash out on something fabulous from Isabella Oliver to look like the fabulous, if slightly plump, mother-to-be of my dreams.

To make matters worse...I'm going to encounter a previous colleague from hell - an extremely insecure & judgemental older lady who's never had kids and and is a graduate of 1980's courses such as 'Women into Management' - for the first time in 4 years...who'll positively delight in my unemployed status and heiferish looks. My evening is going to be like the jellyfish woman scene from Bridget Jones' Diary.

Anyways, I'm cheering on my friend who is finally, finally about to get married (she's 40 and been planning her wedding since she was about 5). I guess its time to stop moaning, scrape away yesterday's fluoro multicolour mani & pedi courtesy of my 5 yr old niece and get DH to make an executive decision between the shotputter outfit or the black wrap dress that makes me look like an elephant going to work.

Laters.

Missus84 · 21/03/2010 14:12

Lizzie - did you get a Maternity Exemption card? I got mine just after booking in. That's all I needed to show for free dental.

starshaker · 21/03/2010 14:26

Just back from the hospital and both babies are good. Have a feeling 1 is a girl but the nurse scanning me said she couldnt confirm or deny.
There is a new pic of them on my profile.
I have told the guy that i hope i dont lose him as a friend but havent heard from him. Gonna try and not stress about it, not like i can do anything to change things.
Anyway hope everybody is having a good weekend

Missus84 · 21/03/2010 14:34

Glad to hear the babies are good

girlsyearapart · 21/03/2010 14:45

good news star- I can't` remember did you have a preference for the gender?I guess at least one girl would save on the money for clothes..

starshaker · 21/03/2010 14:53

I would love 2 girls but i was convinced it was 2 boys. Will need to wait till the 15th april to find out for sure

girlsyearapart · 21/03/2010 15:07

my mums birthday so I will remember that one!

marzipananimal · 21/03/2010 18:21

Lizzie - I got a form from my doctor as soon as I found out I was pregnant to send of for a maternity exemption card so I've been getting free prescriptions. Maybe you should ask your doctor? We're definitely entitled to free stuff already

CazEM · 21/03/2010 19:08

Hi everyone, good day? I've enjoyed a nice day out in Cardiff, DH bought me a t-shirt with "Mind the Bump" on it cuz he thought it was cute - he's getting excited now! Haha and I'm so excited about tomorrow! (Scan)

I've had my exemption card since about 10 weeks or so... it came not long after I had preg confirmed at GP by the midwife.

CazEM · 21/03/2010 19:09

LizzieA - sorry for mentioning the dreading "w" word on a Sunday!! Haha!

Emster30 · 21/03/2010 21:47

Thanks for the reminder - I still haven't had the free prescriptions form. I had to get a dental prescription a few weeks ago and had to pay but the chemist gave me the form to get signed and also filled in another form and attached the receipt so that I can get a refund when my form comes through. I stupidly forgot to take the form to the midwife to get signed last time I saw her, and she didn't have any forms, but I am seeing her again tomorrow (we have a 22 week appointment here) so have just put the form in my bag!

kcoffin27 · 21/03/2010 22:20

Hi just qicikly popping on to say hello, and have a m&s mini bite
How is everyone tonight?
star glad babies are fine, and sorry about the new guy
cazem I also have my scan tomorrow

Bubbabear · 21/03/2010 22:39

Hello everyone, just a quick queston about seat belts. We have been driving around lot this week & im getting a bit paranoid about the lap part of the belt being so close to bubs & just end up pulling away as much as i can! DP suggested looking for a pregnancy seat belt adapter. Ive had a look online & found some at cheap prices but cannot find any advice on whether they make much of a difference & which are recommended. Any experiences? x

aendr · 22/03/2010 07:37

I've got one which is a pad you sit on (held to the seat by a strap) and then a flap comes up between your legs and goes around the lap strap and poppers down again, preventing the lap strap from riding up. It works. It's Mama's and Papa's but I can't find it on their website.

CherryPie3 · 22/03/2010 07:54

Morning

Good Luck for all scans today

Sorry not popped in for a few days - very sore pelvis Been off work and in bed so I don;t have to walk, got to the point where I could get in and out of the car. Think I just overdid it on Wednesday but....OUCHY!
Back at work today - don't wanna be getting in too much trouble for my absence.

Blueberries Hope your director has apologised!!! How terrible for you, can't believe they went in guns flaring without having evidence to back them up!!

Star Whats going on with him? So sad for you, hope he comes round and shakes his scaredy-cat-ness away.
And I'm so glad the babies are ok!! What a scare!

WeeHector Did you find something to wear? Hipe you had a lovely time at the wedding and hope you told the snooty ex-colleague to sod off!!
