Well really pleased with the progress on baby's room! It at last looks like something has been done! Now I just gotta nag DH into getting on with the attic so we can completely clear and get on with the fun bit of decorating and putting together her furniture and all those lovely finishing touches!

After the tip we went to the boating lake for a walk around. It was lovely - I'd forgotten how nice it was and lots of improvements had been made since I was there last. I think it will definately be a place to go for walks with the pram in the summer/autumn!

Unfortnately have got home to find a near destroyed sofa from the cat. She has clawed some of the fabric out! Ahhhhh! We're always telling her off for clawing at it (and we've tried the deterrent sprays etc, nothing works), and one arm was already a bit frayed but now; . Got Mum on her way with needles, thread, experience to help the situation etc to try and make it look better! What makes it worse is that is bloody brand new, only got it in October!!! Maybe wasn't the most durable or sensible choice of fabric. Nevermind, learning experience - let it get completely ruined in the next few years with cat, and possibly baby and then we'll get a very expensive leather sofa. She never goes for for the leather sofa at DH's dads when we stay up there. (Take her with us when we respite care for DH disabled step-brother).

Enough of my moaning.

aendr - we're calling bump "Belle-Bump" now, its not very original really, its just her name! Haha!

Hope everyone had a great day in the sunshine!

Emster30 · 11/04/2010 10:58

Hi all!

We spent yesterday clearing stuff out of the spare room - we have moved four bookcases into the living room which actually makes the living room look bigger, strangely - I really like it. We are keeping the desk and two bookcases in the spare room for the moment, plus a little bookcase that we have put all our old children's books in. We currently have a big sofa bed in there that we're hoping to get rid of soon, plus a shelving unit with a load of junk that we need to go through and freecycle/put in the attic/chuck. We have piled all the baby stuff we've been given up in one corner and the room looks an awful lot better now! Now we need to start buying stuff I guess - we haven't actually bought a single item of baby stuff yet, and I'm 25 weeks today.

girlsyearapart have just managed to catch up on thread as not been on for a few days and just read the thread you were commenting on.

Would like to swear but will keep it clean. Cannot believe she is asking for advice and as soon as she gets something she doesn't agree with she turns on you. Silly me - I thought it was a discussion board.... as on this thread not everyone has the same ideas on stuff - which doesn't make us bad people it ust means we are all individuals.

It kind of reminds me of the group of girls in the playground picking on someone they have taken a dislike too and their attitude and comments show they are thoroughly childish and pathetic in their arguement.

Please don't feel sad/worried - they asked for advice you gave it, if they cannot understand what you are saying or do not like it then they should discuss it not behave like children.

Sorry - got me annoyed as you seem like quite a nice person (you could be an axe murderer in your spare time but I have no evidence to prove this )

bouncingblueberries · 11/04/2010 19:26

Hello girls!

Gosh, what a busy lot you've all been! Been off work since Thursday, so another lovely 4 day weekend for me

Mum came to visit for a few days but dh has been poorly, so it's been exhausting! Reminded me just how much of a team we are and how much I rely on him. Seems to be on the mend now though, which is good considering he's running the Brighton Marathon next Sunday (fingers crossed he's fit enough! eek!). Will be sooo upset for him if he misses it, he's been training for so long but now seems to have shin splints (very painful running injury for all you non-runners). Poor thing.

Anyway, not much to report really. Although can totally empathise with you not feeling very loved at work lizzie. I logged on to my work email on Thursday night to discover one of the freelancers had been using my lovely shiny laptop all day AND using my email account (ok, so it was all work related, but still...how rude!). Just made me really annoyed . Want to say something to the freelancer in question tomorrow, but I know I'm being unreasonable. Will probably just fester instead!

Off to checkout the pregnancy weight gain estimator. Have a good start to the week everybody!

CellyD · 11/04/2010 21:26

Hello! Can I join your group? This is my first baby so absolutely everything on this journey is new. I had my second scan last week and everything was fine. I?m due on 11 Aug (team surprise).

starshaker · 11/04/2010 21:52

Hey all just popping in to say hi. I have not yet committed murder however if i dont appear by wed the i clearly couldnt control myself anymore lol.

Taking dd out to the local country park loads and she is loving it.

Is anybody else having really bad swelling on their feet and ankles already?

CazEM · 11/04/2010 22:39

Hey! Thought I'd pop on while I'm mentally preparing myself for going back to work tomorrow! I really don't want to go to work, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays - so starting my 14 weeks countdown until school finishes for summer and the start of maternity leave!

Welcome to CellyD - I'm sure Cherry will update and add you to her wonderful list sometime tomorrow!

Hi star - who are you on the verge of murdering?! No swelling of feet or ankles here yet. But is anyones tummy button feeling sensitive as its stretching? Mine is sort of 'hurting' - not super painful, but sensitive/uncomfortable to touch... I assume this is normal?

Right going to bed, not that I'm sleepy yet, but need to get back into work routine! (Boohoo!)

Night all!

parkgirl · 11/04/2010 22:49

Hi Everyone - especially CellyD. I too would like to pull up a bean bag and join the party (that is if I could get myself up from the bean bag afterwards). I am due on 16th August - had my anomoly scan last week and have to go back this week as baby was very sleepy and wouldn't move for all the measurements!! Its my first (am 39) and very excited!!

weehector · 12/04/2010 01:23

Welcome, CellyD & Parkgirl. The beanbags are Fatboy ones to take the strain - we're starting to feel a bit fat here because of the babies but more likely because we've been scoffing cakes.

Happy Monday everyone - it actually quite nice to hear that people are starting to countdown to mat leave...makes me feel like slightly less of a slacker, looking forward to you all having the same easy life I current have. I am actually working this week a bit from home and also doing a couple of days in the agency - I was in one day last week and I forgot just how much I miss agency life...brainstorms, creativity...as much as I like my loafing life, I do miss the buzz.

The functional purchases only/no buying until 24 weeks rule is now well and truly broken (though I am now 23+6). I've just spent £60 on welovefrugi.com and another £20 on Amazon buying a Sophie the Giraffe & Lamaze butterfly.

Midwife tomorrow. Wondering whether to fess up that my sister was diagnosed with thrombophilia when she was preggers (though she only found this out years later when pregnant again). She's a bit of a hypochrondriac and I've never got a straight answer from her as to whether it is really hereditary though she seems to think I should mention it. Bloods taken so far haven't flagged up any issues, my aunt who is a nurse said to take no notice of her and I would be really pissed off if I had to have an extra 8 vials of blood taken off me tomorrow just beacause my sister is overly fond of Holby City...but hmmn.

weehector · 12/04/2010 01:26

Actually, I can't count...just in case my Aug 7 buddies, CazEm & Nichynoo are eagle-eyed..I'm only 23+1..duh.

CazEM · 12/04/2010 07:10

weehector - now its "happy" Monday we're 23+2! (Every day counts towards the 24 weeks rule!!)

Welcome to you also Parkgirl

Hi-ho-Hi-Ho its off to work we go... Have a lovely day everyone!

girlsyearapart · 12/04/2010 08:13

thankyou sparkle that's kind of you. Someone else came on and posted that they saw what I meant and I had been misunderstood and suprise suprise since then the OP has gone quiet.. (bet she was a hair-flicker at school)(aka Popular Girl)

And no I'm generally too tired to even lift an axe let alone murder anyone with it!

blueberries let us know how your dh gets on in the marathon. Before this pregnancy I was doing ok with my running. Did 5k,10k and 15k then was signed up for half mara but doctor banned me from running in this pregnancy.. deferred to next yr though.

Have a good day all-I'm off to take the dds swimming.

Burkoid · 12/04/2010 08:21

Hiya
It is too late to join this August club? My second one due on 14th August. Have second scan today! Not gonna find out sex...i dont think. Booked a holiday a while ago to France and have just realised ill be 31 weeks preggers so will need a docs cert. Flippin hope I get one othewise we'll have wasted lots of money. Had high BP last time so fingers crossed its not the same this time. Im so stoopid. x

bouncingblueberries · 12/04/2010 09:16

Welcome Burkoid, CellyD & Parkgirl! Come join the madness!

Grr, It's Monday. Had a rotten sleep last night but pretty sure it was down too much chocolate and caffeine Bad girl.

So today I'm kick starting my healthy pregnancy lifestyle - anyone want to join me? Laced up my trusty MBTs and trekked across Green Park this morning, stopped off via Sainsburys to buy stack-loads of fruit and low fat greek yogurt and I'm determined that my wobbly bit will not be anymore wobbly by the time I give birth

Was rather peeved to find that the freelancer who 'borrowed' my shiny laptop (it's a macbook pro for all you fellow mac lovers - that's why I'm so precious about it!) didn't even bother to put it away in it's hot pink neoprene channel-look-a-like bag

And of course, guess who would get it in the neck if it got nicked? So I'll be taking it home next weekend I reckon. Better safe than sorry.

CherryPie3 · 12/04/2010 09:26

Hello lovely ladies

Hope you all had fabulous weekends and enjoyed the rare lovely sunshine.

Welcome to CellyD and parkgirl - as you were promised I have added you to the growing list.

We still have vacancies for ladies due on 20th, 23rd and 28th Aug tho - wonder if they'll ever get filled?

I had a very nasty day with SPD yesterday, dh was at work so was running limping after the kids all day. I couldn't bribe them to go outside in the garden because theres a lot of tiny spiders on the fence and the grass. . I told them to play spider stomping , but they weren't interested.
When dh got home I just collapsed on the sofa and didn't move til it was time to put kids in the bath, then I went and got in bed. At 7pm .
Very nearly didn't come to work this morning cos it hurts just to drive . Roll on July so I can give birth and banish SPD forever!

Morning ladies. Welcome to Burkoid, CellyD and Parkgirl - gosh lots of newbies - how exciting!!

Am super tired this morning - had a row with DH last night so he slept on the sofa time for him to get back to work me-thinks.

GYA I wanted to pile in on that thread and tell her off but I thought you might get annoyed with me. It's nice that a stranger did it though - makes it obvious that nothing you said was unreasonable when read by an unbiased third party. Part of what annoyed me was some of the "you go girl" attitude of some of the other posters. And I would have been nasty had I said anything cos I was wound up on your behalf . It is clear to me that the posters friend had just been expresing her own opinion which the OP took the same unreasonable way that she took your comments and for some reason the lady doth protest too much...

I think I've just won a really cool international project at work - all on my ownsome. Pity I wont be around to complete it but at least I should get the credit for it in my pre-maternity leave appraisals.

Annoying everyone at work now - I've just made a countdown board counting down the days to my maternity leave

I mentioned to DH on Saturday about it being only 10 weeks until my mat leave and he had to spoil it - he point out that 10 weeks to mat leave means just 14 more Saturday lie ins with coffee and fresh chocolate croissants. Men!

Blueberries - I'm impressed. I've been wondering about starting to walk home from work now the nights are lighter but so far have not remembered to not wear high heels...

mrsZaC · 12/04/2010 09:40

hey ladies, phew! at last I managed to login again... just about to try and catchup on all that I've missed, hope your all well.

mrsZaC xxx

babyducky · 12/04/2010 09:53

Hi all, I can never find time to post, Ive been reading though!

Hope you are all well, welcome to the newbies

Have a good day everyone, will try catch up properly later!
(welcome back mrszac aswell )

bouncingblueberries · 12/04/2010 10:04

Well done on winning that project aussie! You go girl! Treat yourself to a pair of fab trainers at lunchtime then you've no excuse not to walk home

LCRLCR · 12/04/2010 10:10

What thread was it girlsyearapart - I tried to have a nose but couldn't see where it was?

14 weeks to maternity leave but OMG it's only 5 weeks until our wedding.....arrrgh! I do hope that I don't grow TOO much between now and then so I don't waddle down the aisle but I think waddling is what it will be.....however for the first time in my life I boast an impressive cleavage and I am def going to show those puppies off!

Quick question - do I need to invest in special breast feeding tops or will vests under my top do? Can anyone recommend reasonably priced ones if I do?

Have a great day everyone!

Alicetheinvisible · 12/04/2010 10:22

Morning

Blueberry i am trying desperately to snack on healthy stuff. Found the pg weight gain estimate has helped me a bit.

Aussie i'm sure you will get more lie ins and breakfast in beds. You will just have an extra person to share with! DD (2.6) loves breakfast in bed, although we only do it on the day the sheets are due to be changed toddlers drop lots of crumbs!

This baby kicks so hard! DD kicked a lot, but never any that hurt, i got kicked so hard last night downwards that it was the same feeling i got as my waters broke last time Is it possible to have ADHD in the womb?

Aussieng · 12/04/2010 10:23

Ooh yeah - I want a pair of those trainers that supposedly tone your bum while you're walking!

LCR I'd forgotten about your wedding but you have been very un-bridezillaish (at least on here). How exciting!!! Do you have a lovely bump defining dress?

Sorry about your SPD Cherry

Oh sorry and no idea about the belly button. Mine is fine so far (no sign of it becoming an outie though which I was quite hoping for)

CherryPie3 · 12/04/2010 10:41

My bellybutton is also unlikely to ever be an outie, so I'm with you Aussie. Huge well done on winning that project chick

LCR I'd also forgotton your wedding . So sorry, you must be so excited!!! Only 5 weeks to go . Will you post pictured afterwards for us all to nosy at, pleeeeeeaaassse???

About feeding tops - I've never used them!! I bought bf bras but never clothes, I just either pulled my top up, or down, and then put a cotton pram sheet over us so as not to reveal my boobs to the world. (not that I would've cared that much - feeding my child is not a secret)

Alice - ADHD in the womb

to everyone else

LCRLCR · 12/04/2010 10:47

I've got a very structured dress which I haven't seen since first choosing it in Feb with a cushion stuffed up there so really really hope that it will accomdate me ok ! It's being made with a lace up back so should be ok. So very excited and then we have a lovely week in the Greek Islands afterwards, the last holiday of us being a twosome. Promise to post a piccie!
