neenz · 31/03/2010 23:04

lol Dibbydab!! That is very funny. They didn't really need your identification of him then . He sounds like a complete nutter.

It is my scan tomorrow . My dad went with my little sis for her 20wk scan cos her dh works at sea, and he said even he could tell it was a boy, and I thought he meant he could see his willy but apparently it was the balls he could see - he said they were massive, unmissable! So there you go, I will be keeping an eye out tomorrow cos dh dopesn't want to know the sex so we are not finding out. I might upload the pic to the crazy nice ladies at in-gender.com though to see what they think!

Jamiki · 01/04/2010 00:06

Hi Girls!
Are you still missing a "due August 27?", cos here I am!

I have two other DCs born on 27s. Have my 20 wk scan today, am up early and v v excited!

Nice to meet you all and yes, I like a bit of cake, thanks.

ElusiveMoose · 01/04/2010 07:32

Hi ladies,

Sorry I've been a bit absent recently; I've been having one of those weeks. DS and I have both had rotten colds, and I seem to have had a million things to do before Easter. Feeling seriously bleary-eyed this morning - I (and DS of course) had to drop DH off at school at 6.15 for his Italy trip, so even though it's only 7.20 I've already done quite a lot of playing . DS looked so cute when we woke him up this morning, though - all sleepy and disoriented . DH less so . DS is quite confused now, though, about who's going on a coach and an aeroplane and up a volcano (Vesuvius), and suspects it might be him...

Tunise I'm at your experience - you poor thing. Horrid at any time, but doubly so when you're pregnant.

Great news on all the scans - and a warm welcome to Jamiki. You've made me realise, though, that we still need a 23rd and 28th August - roll up, roll up!

Very jealous at all this talk of weekends away. When DS was born, DH and I promised ourselves that we'd try to have one weekend away per year, to keep ourselves sane. We did Paris first year and Rome the second, but no money to go away this year , and I'm not so sure that my parents will be happy to look after 2 DC next year rather than 1 . Oh well. I second Rome as a good weekend away suggestion - beautiful, warm, great food etc. And so much to see (though DH and I are both classicists, so we're biased). Oh, and can I also throw Athens into the mix? Went a couple of years ago, in May, and was surprised by how much I fell in love with it.

Off to my parents for the weekend later today (didn't fancy the idea of just me and DS for the bank holiday weekend, so thought I'd draft in the grandparents ). Will try to keep up with the thread, though.

If I don't, though, have a great Easter, and remember, pregnant ladies, try to avoid sugary snacks that don't provide much nutrition for you and your growing baby - try some dried apricots or a toasted bagel instead .

bouncingblueberries · 01/04/2010 07:52

Dried apricots instead of Easter eggs!!!! That's the best April Fools so far!! very funny elusive!

ElusiveMoose · 01/04/2010 08:28

Damn, I forgot it was April Fool's Day. If I'd remembered I'd have left off the grin and waited to see how many of you thought I was serious. None, I suspect .

mrsZaC · 01/04/2010 09:32

hey ladies, thanks for all your welcome's back.. so sorry again to have worried you all (very very embarrased).

This will make you all laugh.. when I was down nr clitheroe for a wee break with friends, I was worried about being left out as they were boozing in the hot tub.. neither of these i could partake in however they were most sweet and turned the hot tub down to 36 and bought me some non-alcoholic beer - awh cute, so there I was bad mummy in the hot tub drinking beer ;)

I have to say though, the beer was tasty!

Was well chuffed as we went to the mamas and papas factory outlet whilst we were down there and got a dress, joggers and two vest tops for £11! they also had some prams/buggies reduced by about £300, most of which are still sold in the shop full price! I think i might be back.

welcome to newbies, and congrats of fabby scan results

cazzybabs · 01/04/2010 10:36

Tis my wedding anniversary today - am feeling a bit crap!!! Not only have I not bought him anything I also was really bad at getting the children ready for tennis this morning as I was feeling sick and made him grumpy and late for work (bad bad wife)

carolondon · 01/04/2010 10:39

Team blue!!!!!
Hello all, Cherrypie could you please update me to team blue.
Really chuffed, DH is over the moon as we were both convinced it was a girl and he was secretly (or not so secretly as i knew) hoping for a boy.
Quite a stressful scan as they couldn't view the kideys properly as the baby wouldn't turn and i kept getting sent off for walks to try and wake him up. They managed to suggest that something was wrong with the kidneys but thankfully brought someone in for a second opinion who immediately found both kidneys and pronouced them completely healthy. Phew! DH and i were both mentally donating our kidneys for a while.

Apparently i have only one artery feeding the umbilical rather than two which hapopens to roughly 1 in 200 women. They said it could affect the growth but all measurements are normal so not to worry.
The lovely doctor said not to go home and google the condition as we would encounter very scary stuff which is probably inaccurate and she wasn't worried at all. Bless her.

pamplem0usse · 01/04/2010 11:28

Hello girls,

I wonder if anyone has any ideas on the maternity/nursing pillow front yet?

tunise apologies for missing what sounds like a horrid experience for you. In a way it's probably comforting to have the excitement of a baby to distract you? And congrats on your little girl!

carolondon yay, another boy! And it's lovely that your doctor was so comforting!

cazzy hope you feel better soon and enjoy your wedding anniversary!

Cherry just because I haven't said hi to you for a while! And loving the properly formatted list!

mrsZac congratulations on your bargains.

So how are you girls doing getting through your baby-things lists? Especially first timers? I'm not really sure how early it's acceptable to be getting the 'big things'!

bouncingblueberries · 01/04/2010 11:36

chocolate

bouncingblueberries · 01/04/2010 11:36

poo - that didn't work!

Dibbydab · 01/04/2010 11:51

Hello girls - have had a quick look at the scores on the doors, and so far we have confirmed...

9 boys
6 girls
20 surprises

Cazzy sorry to hear you're having a poo day - it's still early so don't write it off just yet, it could get better.

Tunise and Caro congrats on your scans, must be very exciting. Caro your doctor sounds lovely and reassuring.

Pample we bought pram and cotbed at 13 weeks - DH doesn't "do" superstition, though my mum was "touching wood and whistling" for all she was worth when we told her we'd bought "big stuff"! I'm afraid the January sales dictated when we bought stuff, rather than how far into pregnancy we were

We've got plenty of newborn stuff (sleepsuits/vests/babygrows - not actually sure of the difference between any of these items - lack of sleeves/legs - who knows??) All in neutral as we aren't finding out flavour until baby is born - the baby will be lost in a sea of white/cream/beige, in it's beige pram or it's cream/beige bed linen in the cream room. Might have to put some sort of tracking device on it

We also got a ton of nappies/wipes/muslins when Asda/Sainsbury's/Tesco have their "Baby and Toddler" promos.

Oooh, we got a couple of sleeping bags as well from TK Maxx for about £10 each.

CazEM · 01/04/2010 11:51

Morning girls!

carolondon congrats on your little boy!

cazzy Happy wedding anniversary! Hope you feel better later on and enjoy your evening with DH!

pample - We got our pram and cot when I was 12 weeks! I felt a bit weird about it cuz it is really early, but Mum and Dad bought the cot that I really wanted in the January sales, and the pram was supposed to be in the sales too but then I went and changed my mind and ended up getting a brand new model full price one! Haha! We're hoping to buy the bedroom furniture, car seat and baby monitor (I think they are all the most expensive things?!) by the end of May... Its all living at my parents house at the moment until the babys room is ready for decking out! I need to slow down on the little bits now, since finding out baby is a girl I've been finding it hard to resist all the gorgeous girly pink things as I go past shop windows etc! Haha! Need to get strict with myself for a good month or so now!!

Had a fright in the night, got up at 1.am to go the toilet and there was blood. Sorry is TMI! Not loads, but on paper and a evidence of it in bowl too, proper bright red. I hardly slept a wink the rest of the night and got myself in a right state, poor DH didn't know what to do with me. Anyway, there was no blood on the pad I wore through the night and there's been nothing else going to the toilet today so looks like a freak tiny episode. Feeling really unwell today from lack of sleep, faint and sick. DH must be worried cuz he text an hour ago saying he's asked to come home half day so he'll be home in a bit. I'm glad cuz I didn't want him to leave this morning, feel like a baby, especially as theres been nothing since. We had a simular couple of episodes at 13 and 14 weeks that went on, on and off for a few days each week, emergancy scan etc. but everything fine, no reason found for bleeding. I've totally overreacted last night, exhausted now. You'd think as it has happened before and everything was fine I would've kept it together better really!!

pamplem0usse · 01/04/2010 12:16

Thanks ladies! I'm really struggling to 'hold off'!! Plus we've got a voucher that will save us 10% on our lovely mamas and papas chest so might have to get that soon!

Think I'm going to order my breast pump later on DH's credit card!!!

Caztry not to worry about the blood. If it'll help you can always ring your midwife and get her to listen to the little heartbeat?

If no reason is found for the blood on a scan it's likely to be cervical. My midwife is pretty sure this is what I have... I got lots of bleeding (including clots!) until about 12-13 weeks and I've had several small episodes since (the earliest was a tiny amount a couple of days ago after sex). Basically it sounds like cervical erosion to me. Have you been having too much couple time on your holidays?!! Have a big hug, I know it's really distressing, but I've just about got to the point of being able to pretty-much dismiss it when it happens now.

Aussieng · 01/04/2010 12:17

Congrats Carolondon & Happy wedding anniversary to Cazzy. Hope your day gets a little better. Have a good weekend Elusive - jealous at your DH's trip though. I'm missing Italy not having made it there skiing this year.

CazEM everything is harder to keep in perspective during the middle of the night. Stress and tiredness are not a good mix. Have you called your MW?

I have started my Easter hols now so feeling happy to have escaped all the form filling at work and it is bright blue skies - yay! I currently have a pussy cat trying to sneak on to my knee very sureptitiously. I am tryin to hold him at bay with one wrist and he is obstinately pusshing against it averting his eyes in an "if I can't see you, you can't see me" kind of way

Pample I'm starting to get frustrated about our lack of purchases now or indeed progress at getting our house sorted. DH last night started querying my choice of room for the nursery and I got quite frustrated as this was decided weeks ago. Apparently "I decided" weeks ago not DH! Aaaargh - well if he'd actually joined in with the discussion at the time! grrrrrrrr Anyway he finally agreed but only after we'd been right through the house, why is a guest bedroom needed, where can his home office be, where can he put a computer with 2 screens AND a laptop, how long will we be converting the conservatory into a dining room for all of which I thought was resolved. Keep up dear! So we're just about ready to start moving the office furniture and my lovely antique bed out of the nursery. So no-where near buying stuff yet. That said, I am ready to buy a cot and dresser and a few things BUT we are having most of that stuff bought for us so I feel a bit at the mercy of people buying it for us (sorry if that sounds ungrateful) in terms of timing which I know wil start to make me anxious in the not too distant future because I want to get organised.

DH had a meeting with the Directors of his new job today. Unfortunately the guy who offered him the job has left the company (since Tuesday!) and we're not quite sure what has happened there. DH thought everything went well today but on the drive home (he's still driving) started to rehash some of the things said over the course of the meeting and started to have doubts as to whether he still has the job or whether this was kind of a further interview and they still need to decide. B*gger! Hopefully he is just being overly cautious.

pamplem0usse · 01/04/2010 12:18

Caz just had to check your age on the list.... I'm 25 and apparently cervical erosion is much more common at our sort of age. So at least (fingers crossed!) subsequent pregnancies might be less fraught!

pamplem0usse · 01/04/2010 12:23

Aussie hopefully your DH's job situation will resolve itself soon, it must be pretty stressful for both of you.

I know exactly what you mean on the people-buying-you-stuff front. I keep being told by my MIL that X, Y and Z people will want to get me specific things (to the point that I'm convinced she's asking them for those things for us ). She's lovely but she also keeps telling me to hold off buying things like cot bedding (we have a moses basket for at first) until the LO is born so that people can offer to help us out with it. You'd think we hadn't a penny to rub between us, but in fact our savings account is going up and nothing much is getting bought!!! What are you going to do with your bed? I have to say I'm slightly jealous of you having to decide which room is the nursery. We only have two beds (rubbish commuter belt house prices) so it's my office that'll be the nursery! Can't really complain though, we managed to buy our house last year sans mortgage, which is a major load off my mind (and bank balance).....

Aussieng · 01/04/2010 12:53

@ Pample Yeah - I' starting to get a bit stressed out now. Need to remind myself that it was a joint decision for him to quit his job and not start to take my stressiness out on DH. If it wasn't for the bank hol weekend I'm sure it would all be sorted this week, it's the waiting that will cause the problem.

LOL at your MIL and for you at the same time.

I'll match your jealously at my nursery decision with my jealousy at your savings going up

Furniture is a bit of a toughy. My ExH and I had quite a large house much bigger than where DH and I live now (fortunately the fact that DH and I like being in the same room as each other helps us cope ) and although I did not take much furniture with me when we sold our house I did take couple of favourite pieces including the antique bed (just a single) and the kitchen dining table (left the actual dining room table - too formal and meh) and these are both causing a bit of a problem now in terms of space - we need a double bed in the guest room and the kitchen dining table will not fit in the conservaotry (we have a lounge diner and I want the dining "area" for a moses basket/playmat and in time a playpen etc so I want a small round glass table and chairs to go in t' conservatory. BUT both items that are getting in the way at the moment are among the very few items that I will want to ship out to Australia when we move there so something has to be done with them in the meantime. Garage is the obvious solution but we have a leak in there at the moment and we need to do something to improve the use of the garage as an accessible storage are not just keep filling it with excess stuff. Decisions decisions.

cazzybabs · 01/04/2010 14:16

Caz - I would phone up the midwife - that is what she is there for... whilst I am sure its all fine better to be safe than sorry

marzipananimal · 01/04/2010 14:34

I haven't bought a single thing for the baby yet! (although we've been given a vest and some socks ) Mainly because we're moving in a few weeks so I didn't think there was any point adding to the amount of packing to do. Really looking forward to moving and getting stuff for the nursery though!

I hope everyone has a great easter, DH has 5 days off, woohoo! And my contract at work finished yesterday so now I'm just doing bits of voluntary work until August.

cazzy hope your anniversary turns out better than it started

sam86 · 01/04/2010 15:19

very happy to hear all the good scan news!! cant wait to find out what our 20 surprises turn out to be and how the statss look then!

DD has had a little accident next to her potty so i have to go before she slips but will check in again later! congrats to everyone! xxx

neenz · 01/04/2010 15:25

Caz, how scary about the blood - I am sure it is nothing, but maybe tell the mw just to be on the safe side.

Aussie, hope your dh's job gets sorted, what a worry for the weekend .

We started buying stuff at about 24wks last time - it felt more real then and like it was definitely going to happen.

We had our scan today - it went fine, we didn't find out the sex, but I have already posted my pics at in-gender and waiting for a reply!! I think the baby was hiding tho cos the woman was struggling to get all the pics she needed. She saw everything she needed in the end tho.

Caro, great that your scan went well in the end and the doc was so reassuring.

Anyone else having mad dreams? I dreamed that the baby's foot came out of my stomach, it was like a bird's foot, then the whole baby came out (it was a boy) and I thought 'how am I going to get it back in my tummy'

Then last night I dreamed that my Sheila Maid (drying rack) broke cos I put too much heavy stuff on it - I was heartbroken!

Alicetheinvisible · 01/04/2010 15:32

Dammit!!! Just written a huge post then lost it not got time now, be back later

vix206 · 01/04/2010 15:35

Pamplemousse I am having terrible nights now. I have excruciating pain in my right buttock that shoots all the way down to my toes and aches like hell. To start with if I laid on my left hand side it didn't hurt, but now it hurts however I position myself. I haven't bought any maternity pillows because having read reviews I am not convinced, but I did buy a V shaped pillow from Dunelm for 6.99 that is really comfy to prop yourself up with. I also sleep with a normal pillow between my knees at the moment.

I guess it will only get worse from now on so I best get used to terrible night's sleep! ;)

Dibbydab · 01/04/2010 16:00

Glad your scan went well Neenz, let us know what the nutters nice ladies on in-gender say. They said girl for me from my 12 week scan - still have no idea what a nub is!

My mum just emailed me this joke - not like my mum at all, she must have had a bang on the head!

"A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in for the baby's first exam.

The doctor arrived, and examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned, asked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed. 'Breast-fed,' she replied.

'Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered. She did. He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts for a while in a very professional and detailed examination.

Motioning to her to get dressed, the doctor said, 'No wonder this baby is underweight. 'You don't have any milk.' I know,' she said, 'I'm his Grandma, but I'm glad I came.'
