Well hello Foxy and welcome back, MrsZac.

I'm just on for a quick whine this am as I'm unlikely to get any support from Mr Weehector who is in the huff with me because I booked him an appointment with the doc this am to get his sebaceous cyst looked at.

I seem to be huffing & puffing a lot and I think my ribcage is starting to lift. Nothing is sore exactly, I just feel uncomfortable and like there's no more space inside me...I've come back to bed as I feel faint & a bit peculiar which in turn is making me feel weepy, useless & guilty. How the hell am I going to manage another 18 weeks? So jealous and wonderous of Cherry and Aussie planning holiday adventures...I could happily walk along a Cornish beach dreaming that next time i'd be there building sandcastles with Baby Hector (and scoffing cream teas) but I'm not sure I could do Barcelona without cava for lunch...

tunise · 31/03/2010 11:01

Excellent, so i wont bother drinking too much more than usual this morning. Am really looking forward to finding out what 'it' is. Already have 2 boys who are 11 and 12 and a girl who is 5. I suspect that this one is a boy just because the pregnancy seems more like the first two, but would be secretly delighted to have another girl.
I'm a bit worried that they wont get a great view as the 12 week scan was very blurred because i'm a bit chunkier than i should be, however i've only gained an extra 3 Lbs so far,( i think because i had extra to start with)
Oh come on time, move.....

girlsyearapart · 31/03/2010 13:23

I got told to have a full bladder so they can see if cervix is open or not (?)

Did have then had to go to wee half way through so get baby to move around so they could see the spine...

ps went to Barcelona on my hen weekend was very fun

have just booked champneys for june- they have great offers so you 'bring a friend for free' works out 120-140 per person for 2 nights 3 days all meals included.

pamplem0usse · 31/03/2010 14:51

You're all quiet today.......
And I'm bored....
Typical!!!
I might go for a walk (ahem to waitrose to buy some custard tarts)....

neenz · 31/03/2010 15:28

Tunise that's terrible about the mugging! Little sh*ts. Glad you are ok.

MrsZac, welcome back, we were all worried about you! I said you would laugh your head off when you came back and saw how we'd all been worrying

BB, I really want to read that Sheila Kitzinger book and The Politics of BFing. I think the latter will just make me really angry tho!

We are going camping first week of June in North Wales for a week. Can't wait - love camping and hopefully I'll not be too big to enjoy it.

Had a Beck's Blue last night - really nice!

I never found those pillows to work for me in bed - altho lots of people swear by them. Nothing really worked for me toward the end last time . It was horrendous not being able to sleep!

CherryPie3 · 31/03/2010 15:29

Prague is great Cherrypie, and don't get me started on football! My DH has been to two European Cup finals in the last five years at a cost of about £1,000 each! Last time I said well if you're spending £1,000 on a football trip I am having £1,000 to spend how I wish . We could afford it then so it wasn't so bad but first time it was just before we got married and we could hardly afford the £1k. He had a great time though.

He used to go to other Euro away games too but it's finals only now that we have kids. I have told him he can go the Europa Cup final this year if they get there (Liverpool). His mates can hardly believe it as they are not allowed to go! He has found a barrister friend who will go with him though . To be fair I am a Man City fan and go to most of the home games - we might be winning European Cups too soon so I am definitely due a couple of trips to finals!

It's funny isn't it how they are rubbish at organising phone chargers etc but they can manage to get to Hamburg and back and organise tickets etc when it's for the football!

I am actually hoping to take the baby with me to home games next season in a sling - I have heard of other people taking young babies to sports events... do you think it is do-able?

LilyPad72 · 31/03/2010 16:07

Cherrypie Venice is gorgeous but - two things - don't leave it too late, as it has (holds nose) sewerage issues meaning it's smelly when it's hot - and two, it's all very pedestrian, so unless you're going to spend a fortune on water taxis and gondolas, you need to go early to be willing to do all the walking around.
We went a couple of years ago, having been wanting to go for years and years - it is beautiful and def worth doing - but plan carefully or you'll be knackered!
Stockholm is lovely, Berlin is a personal favourite of mine, would have said Moscow, but maybe not so much this week, and have a hankering after Talinn which I haven't got round to sorting out yet.
We're sticking with this country this year - which is just great for me - hate flying and used to fly lots with work, so is a treat not to have to. North Norfolk coast - here we come!

LilyPad72 · 31/03/2010 16:09

Oh, and could you update some details for me on the list? I'm in Berkshire, and the Nuchal Scan was fine. 2 weeks to go till the Anomaly scan...!!

Thanks

CherryPie3 · 31/03/2010 16:18

£1000 each!!!!

Dh suggested I let him go the champs league final if Manu get throug (though after their performance last night I'm not holding my breath!!)

You've said my point exactly when you said their organisation skills are suddenly excellent when organising tickets/flights.hotel etc when its for the football.

Bloody men!!!!!

Dibbydab · 31/03/2010 16:34

Ooooooh CherryPie we did Venice as part of our honeymoon last October, 'twas v. romantic (apart from me having a cold and not really being in the "mood for love"). 3 nights would be perfect - lots of walking involved as LilyPad says, and DH put his back out when he misjudged a step on a bridge (God, don't we sound like a perfect pair!) Tonnes of churches to look around, ice creams (gelati?) to die for, but v. expensive - we must be the only people who spent a night of our honeymoon in MacDonalds to try and save a bit of cash - an average meal out for 2 was about 80 Euro not including drink (not that that's an issue for you at the mo .)

Rome is great as well, but a lot of walking about. Don't suppose you'll get him to stretch to NYC for a 5 nighter, now that's a great place.

Aussieng - about the bathroom cabinet, it was from Homebase - I did say this yesterday when asked the same question, please keep up - anyone would think you had a life outside of this thread!

Tunise - just reread about your horrible experience, big hugs, what low lifes - they'll get theirs I'm sure. I had to do a line up (not in it, had to pick someone out) for a stabbing I was witness to, and the police were lovely. I was a bit like you - unsure but they did give me some ahem "helpful" reminders before I saw the scrotes and picked out the right one.

neenz · 31/03/2010 16:48

Dibydab is that true that the police hinted which person to pick . My Dh is a criminal defence solicitor and he would be horrified (though not shocked probably )

Yes £1,000!! , because of course they can't be expected to fly there on the morning of the match and fly straight back afterwards, cos then when would they have fun drinking and singing football songs? It's been the same for every FA/Carling Cup final too - you can't get to Cardiff and back in a day apparently

Dibbydab · 31/03/2010 16:59

Yep Neenz, they did offer some helpful reminders - it was many years ago - not quite the Gene Hunt era, but nearly, and I expect things are a lot stricter these days.

One thing that surprised me though was that I knew the guy had distinctive tattoos (sp?) on his hands and because the police couldn't find enough similar looking men of age/build/height with tattoos they all had to sit on their hands so I couldn't identify him from that - seems the crims get more than a fair crack at disguising themselves (mine also shaved his head before line up), so I think the police were just trying even things up a little. I can't feel too sorry for someone that stabs an innocent man in the street for "looking at him the wrong way".

LCRLCR · 31/03/2010 17:41

Ahhh 20 week scan done and dusted so quickly! Amazing to see LO again, all is fine and we are team SURPRISE! It all felt a bit quick and rushed though I understand the sonographer has a job to do but she kindly allowed Granny and Grandad visiting from ireland to pop in at the end of the scan for a peep at their grandchild. Very moving and hard to get my head round that the next time I see it will be in August! Now I can concentrate on and believe that we are indeed having a baby wow!!!!!

neenz · 31/03/2010 17:52

LCR, great news!

Dibby, I know where you are coming from, but what if, say, your DH had tattoos on his hands, and he was brought in as a suspect to be in the line-up. But the man who had actually done it was not in the line-up. If none of the other 'suspects' had tattoos on their hands, then of course the victim would pick your DH. Even though it wasn't him. iyswim. Glad you nailed the nutter anyway

Work done for the day so just swinging by to see if there was any scan announcements...

LCR How lovely that granny & grandad got a peep & well done for holding out on finding out (if you did...we seem to be on a run of surprises , both disciplined people & shy babies just now..)

Tunise You must be due to report in soon..hope all well. Really to sorry to hear about the mugging. So not what you need.

Loving the holiday chat ladies...we have no pennies so I'll have to live vicariously through you all. I'd kill for a Shake Shake burger with cheese fries & a chocolate malt in the park & a mooch around FAO Schwarz in NYC but Venice in springtime (no crowds, strolling, cheesy panini & peoples watching in cafes..) sounds equally fabulous...

lovesaruby · 31/03/2010 18:11

Hi all - havent been in for a while - I cant keep up with you lot! Thought Id update the list after 20 wk scan today, all is perfect, actually the best and most informative sonographer Ive had and we are team Pink (again!)!!! My dd's are v excited that they are getting a little sister, everyone around us lately has had or is having a boy. Dh looks a bit green around the gills and announced that perhaps he wont have the snip in the autumn now - just in case!!! Oh, and that from August onwards he will be found in the shed, which will be a haven for his star wars collection and a boys only zone Keep up the good work you chatty lot!

Aussieng · 31/03/2010 18:36

Sorry Dibby will try to to better [sticks tongue out]. Not so much a life as a job alas!

Oooh - city breaks. Well. Prague is about at the top of my "to do" list and Budapest is also pretty near. I second the fact that Berlin is an awsome city - definitely one of my faves and far far far nicer than anyone who has never been there ever imagines and very interesting too. Also it has a special place in my heart because it was coming back from Berlin on our first overseas trip together that DP (as DH then was) nearly got deported and we had to sit with an armed guard for hours at East Midlands Airport until a tired Borders Agency person decided that I looked trustworthy and DH could be released into my care on a limited entry (5 day) visa. Talk about shock to the system!

I'd throw in Bruges for a quick to get to lovely alternative to Amsterdam & Venice combined.

Congrats on the scans ladies. Surprises are clearly in vogue but it was nice to see a Team Pink there Ruby.

Tunise sorry - I overlooked your mugging. How awful.

CazEM · 31/03/2010 19:48

Evening all!

So glad to see you MrsZaC! and Tunise - how awful for you! I'm so glad they were caught. What little shits!

We've just booked our last baby free weekend away for mid-May, nowhere glamourous or far away mind! Will be of all those lovely city breaks! We've settled on a Travelodge for 2 nights in Bangor so we can visit Caernarfon, Portmerion, Snowdonia, Llanfair...gogogoch! etc! Muchly looking forward to it! Last time we went away was our honeymoon last summer and that pretty much ended with near disaster with a very ill DH and in hospital for 10 days on our return! We should've got a Dr out over there really but DH refused and just wanted to get home, scared he'd be made to stay out there and then he refused to go to a London hospital and would only go to our local one. In hindsight I should've just ignored him and taken him to Gatwick hospital straight on landing instead of the 3 hours car journey too - I drove like a nutter down the M4 to get him home! At least my honeymoon is unforgetable! Haha!

Hows everyone day been?! I've had a lovely day shopping with my Mum! But I'm shattered now! I've tried to take in the 4 extra pages on here over the day and like many I'm finding my brain is going extemely mushy these days and I can't retain what I've just read!!

After enjoying myself for 3 days; tomorrow I should really get on with some school or uni work for a few days! I have a 4000 word assignment due in end of April which I haven't started yet! I'm losing motivation!!

Bubbabear · 31/03/2010 20:13

Hello, was only at work for 3 and a half hours this afternoon (i 'work' at home Wednesday mornings) & im completely exhausted! Still, school holidays now - wohoo! puts a small mountain of easter eggs & lovely chocolates on the table to share courtesy of the v. generous children/parents from my class)

Thought i'd add to the stories of weird & wonderful comments received by rude well meaning people. i popped into Asda on the way home. Was having a bit of a hot flush so took my coat off & was aimlessly wandering around attempting to get my baby brain to remember what i'd gone in there for...then some random middle-age woman (not exactly a small build herself) came up to me, gently put her hand on my arm & said "just a little word of advice dear, i wouldnt wear tops like that, makes you look pregnant" Bloomin cheek lol!!! I tried telling her that i didnt think it was the top that made me look pregnant, was most probably the baby but she just said i didnt look old enough to be expecting & walked off. Bizarre!

Didnt take offence, im actually quite a small build & think its quite obvious now that im preggers & not just been eating too much cake. So there you go, the weird & wonderful people you come across in the world of Asda. i thought it was pretty funny, so did another shopper who was nearby who turned away tring to hide her smirk.

Plus i then got asked for ID buying non-alcoholic wine, so all in all a bit of an odd afternoon.

All this talk of holidays is making me think we should be planning somewhere before bump becomes too big, esp as its my 30th in June. DP has told me that he has 'something in mind' already for my birthday but like many of you have said he's a man & they're not the best at organising things. Last time we went abroad we would have gone to the wrong airport if i hadnt insisted on checking the details myself! So now im thinking maybe i should give him a bit of a hand in getting this 'thought' to materialise into something real (& suitable). Well as im already on the net...

Dibbydab · 31/03/2010 20:17

Neenz Yes I can see your point, but I would hope that my DH wouldn't have the victims blood on his clothing, and a knife hidden about his person - if he did, he'd have some explaining to do... the victim had also managed to spray him with an indelible dye during the attack, so it was a pretty open and shut case as to who had done it. Anyway enough talk of nasty people who are a waste of air - let's talk holidays, babies and cake!

My offering this evening is a Jamaican Ginger Cake with custard - to help those of you who are still suffering from MS - it's purely medicinal of course, but there's enough to go around

We've been spending the evening putting more clutter in the loft - had a real giggle when I found my old school PE skirt - did I ever have a waist that small! - despite DH's best efforts I could not be persuaded to try and get into it (think he might have had visions of Britney Spears a la "hit me baby one more time" era, I on the other hand had visions of a transvestite Billy Bunter .)

Have we had anymore colours confirmed today or have we got a bit of a lull?

CherryPie3 · 31/03/2010 20:56

Hang on.....mugging? I'm so sorry Tunise I've completely missed it!! Are you ok???

Really am sorry!!!!!
