Emster I'm sure you're right - Cherrypie double-check that, I think the cut-off is 28 weeks but okay with Doc's note then the absolute cut-off is 32 weeks.

I'm going to France at 31 wks for a wedding and there's even a cut-off for ferries at 28 wks!! So will need to get doc's note too!

girlsyearapart · 30/03/2010 20:25

finally caught up with the thread!
have had no internet since thursday.

jenny so so sorry hope you are as well as can be expected.

A friend of ours went for her 12 week scan today only to find that the baby had stopped growing at 10 wks. She will have an op on thursday. for her, I was texting her last night and she was so excited..

Well we had our 2nd scan and still surprise wrt the sex,DH missed it though as couldn't get parked (only taxi driver unable to find parking space in an hour )placenta anterior too. Everything was fine with the baby, lovely sonographer, went in twice as couldn't see the spine the first time. Just as well we didn't want to know the sex as baby was hiding both times!

Discussed retained placenta with consultant- she said that it was more likely to happen this time as had it last time, and they will put me on a drip to keep contractions going after baby is born. She said def have the injection though.

Having another scan at 28 wks to look at growth and also glucose blood test to look at gestational diabetes as had 9lb baby last time 11 days early and they want to rule things out..

SassaB · 30/03/2010 20:25

Cherrypie - Re: travelling, I travel quite a lot with work and it depends on the airline. I spoke to BA the other day and they require a doctors note from 28 - 35 weeks and they will not carry anyone from 36 weeks onwards.

I hope this helps!

Jaysfourth · 30/03/2010 20:28

Hi all
sorry but there is NO WAY i can keep up with you guys, i feel so inadequate

that book looks good Neenz, i might give it a whirl....all my births i have gone with just G&A but i am of the mind you cant get enough 'experiences' to help you through it all! - i have to admit, and i cant be the onlyone (??) but i LOVE labour, i love the whole feeling of actually doing something at the end of the nine months. Its totally awe inspiring and very empowering, i am getting excited about it all just thinking about it!! - and thats not to say that all the births have been easy...no way.... but in general thats how it makes me feel!

Joey, it is amazing what your body will and CAN cope with. Dont pay too much attention to these kind of comments ( am sure you dont) they normally dont mean anything bad, they just dont think about how comments might affect someone else!

Talking about breaks away ( other than Glastonbury) we are getting away, on our for a change, just to York for the weekend. My Mum offered to stay the weekend to look after the kids, who i am to refuse !

Will try and keep up a bit more, i do read most posts but have the mental capability of a goldfish with regards retaining information!

19wks

cazzybabs · 30/03/2010 21:07

Joey - I've had 2 with no pain relief ..much easier than my CS ... it is unlike any other pain .. you'll be fine (well its a bit late now )

We are off to the lake district on Sat ... can't wait! Going to take the girls up some large hills!!!!!

And my friend from work is going to call her dd one of my favourite names - she is due in June - so

marzipananimal · 30/03/2010 21:39

the names thing is funny isn't it? My friend had a baby in January and took my favourite boy's name - I haven't decided yet whether I can still use it or if i still want to.

Congrats to everyone with the scans

cazzybabs · 30/03/2010 21:42

mind you would have to convince dh anyway...

neenz · 30/03/2010 21:52

Yeah it's tough with names but I think unless it is close family you can have the same name. You might not even be in touch with current friends in five years, esp from work.

Jaysfourth, it's amazing how with no.3 (me) and no.4 (you) we still feel the urge to read about labour! I knew I had to read the books again (going to read the hypnobirthing book next) because I had forgotten it all. I really think it helps your labour when you understand what's happening and why. It also gives you the confidence to say no to interventions if you don't want them. I was told I would 'have' to have an epidural cos I was having twins but I knew that's not what I wanted. I was open to the idea of an ep but I wanted to give g&a a go first. It was a close call because it was really painful really quicky and I thought I would never cope with hours of that, but after a while I got into a real rhythm with the g&a and managed to ride it out .

I am really looking forward to labour this time too!

Emster30 · 30/03/2010 22:14

I'm going to France by train at 32 weeks and from Googling I have seen that Eurostar doesn't require a doctor's note - but am wondering whether it mightn't be wise to get one anyway!

Rubena · 31/03/2010 08:28

hello I haven't been able to catch up much but had a quick skim through. I work for an airline and if pg is single and uncomplicated - up to 28-36 weeks is ok with docs note.
Didn't know about ferries I have to go on one at 34 so will check that out

mrsZaC · 31/03/2010 09:01

hey!!!!!

my goodness ladies you've been chatting away haven't you. I'm afraid it's been too long and I don't have the time really to read through all that I've missed (loads and loads I'd imagine)

Mnet wasn't working on my work computer for ages, and I was away on my holidays had a nasty cold etc. etc. so I haven't been on here - sorry! bad mrsZaC!!!

Not much to report from me really, got my 20 wk scan 2 wks on Friday Had some back trouble but yoga seems to have straightened things out for me, going every monday evening now and I think I might step it up and find another class for during the week. Getting some little movements which is lovely

Is everyone OK? did I miss anything big? Anyone care to fill me in on the edited version!?

marzipananimal · 31/03/2010 09:04

Hi MrsZaC! We've been worrying about where you'd got to - glad to see you're ok!
Lots of people have been having scans so the list has lots of boy/girl/surprise on it.
I'm hoping to start yoga soon, starting to feel a bit like I waddle when I walk

mrsZaC · 31/03/2010 09:18

hey marzipan so sorry to have caused worry... I felt really guilty about it... stupid work computer!

owh I didn't notice all the boy/girl/surprises! really lovely to see... makes me kinda jealous, but I'm deffo a surprise

bouncingblueberries · 31/03/2010 09:20

Oh girls! I've been so busy at work these past two days it's really interfered with my mumsnet time!

Anyway, I have read everyone's posts but I'm knackered and my brain is mush, so I can't remember enough to type responses to everyone - sorry!

But Neenz totally with you on the reading up on everything! I romped through the New Experience of Childbirth by Sheila Kitzinger and am now onto the Politics of Breastfeeding. Also re-discovered Suzanne Colson's website, which is just fabulous. I just can't read enough about birth and breastfeeding at the moment, even though I've 'done it all before'. Only once though, so not quite a seasoned professional

Grr, work calling, better get back to it!

Dibbydab · 31/03/2010 09:22

Oooooh helloooooo MrsZac - call off the search party she's back! You had us all worried for a while there -

pamplem0usse · 31/03/2010 09:38

Oh my word! mrsZac we were really worried about you!... you should just have a look through this thread to see how many times your name was brought up (if it's not too scary!!!)....

I've been a little AWOL this week I'm afraid. Was reading your Mum/ MIL comments.... Mine is a rather odd one, my Mum is irritating as hell (she has many many issues) but my MIL is great. We had our weekly shopping/ lunch/ coffee catch up yesterday and I managed to stock up on various baby bits that DH considers boring and therefore not interesting enough for him to want to buy!

Lots of work until Easter, another 4000 words to write!

Sxxx

Aussieng · 31/03/2010 10:07

Hello MrsZac! Gosh we were worried! You seemed to disappear right around your scan time and you know how this thread has been! Welcome back

On that note - sorry to hear what a terrible time Jenny had. I've occassionally looked over on the TC boards and it is sad to see how many of our ladies are on there and how togugh a time some of them have had.

Welcome to Foxy - I obviously did not catch up very well as I missed you joining until someone else said hello.

Thanks for the sympathy re my mum. I really don't know what is the matter with her. She has never been Miss PMA but is getting quite extremely negative. She is coming for Easter weekend (we're also hitting Mama's & Papas clearance shops) so I might try to speak to her about it over a coffee. Whilst not as bad as she is I can also be a bit negative at times (especially compared to my Mr PMA DH) and I see now where it comes from!

Dibby - your bathroom looks fab. Can I ask where you got your storage unit - it's lovely.

Cherry - very jealous of Barcelona. Even with DH fining a new job so quickly anywhere overseas still seems off the agenda. P'raps Cormwall in June.....

Aussieng · 31/03/2010 10:09

Oooh - and thanks for the book tips Neenz - I am just starting to turn towards thinking about labour and [sssh] giving birth. Not sure I'll ever hit the stage of "looking forward to it" though

pamplem0usse · 31/03/2010 10:15

Oooh and can anyone recommend a good mateernity/ nursing pillow??
Sleeping is becoming rather uncomfortable!

vix206 · 31/03/2010 10:16

Oh MrsZaC you have made my day (and its my birthday today so thanks!) So glad you are okay!

tunise · 31/03/2010 10:33

Hi all, I have my 20 week scan in about 3 hours and time is ticking by sooo slowly. At least i think that's the right time as i cannot find the letter and am going by the scribble on my calender. If i get there and i've missed it i'll be a sobbing wreck.

I've been a sobbing wreck most of this week anyway, at the weekend some bunch of utter scumbag teenage (14-15 year old) boys tried to mug me!! Luckily the strap on my bag broke in my favour during our tug of war and my fishwife style screaming and swearing at them did make them back off! By some miracle the police caught and arrested them and at some point i need to look at an identity parade. Trouble is pregnant confused brain cant seem to remember what they looked like.
Anyway i am over the shock now and just very grateful that it wasn't any worse.

Will update with scan results later, is a full bladder as essential this time??? I've done all this 3 times before and then promptly forget all the details.

pamplem0usse · 31/03/2010 10:35

vix Happy birthday! Hope your OH is spoiling you....
tunise a full bladder it is.... well a pint of fluid 1 hr before the scan anyway! Looking forward to hearing about it; are you finding out what you're having??

cazzybabs · 31/03/2010 10:42

No - you don't need a full bladder for 20 week scan with dds1 and 2 I was told to go to the toilet as my bladder was in the way () so this time I didn't bother

mrsZaC · 31/03/2010 10:50

owh ladies, I'm so sorry, thank you all for the lovely welcome back, I'm very embarrased about worrying you all so much. I won't dissapear again, well at least without warning i promise, hope work don't block this site again!!

Happy birthday vix hope your having a lovely pampered birthday.

pample I was going to ask the same thing, been thinking about a dream genii but I'm not sure if I like the look of it, I think I might prefer one of those giant sausage shaped things.
