Thanks for the reassurances re. weight Jojobil, kkfairybrains, stac14, DH21, memphis83 & Viksam. I've gained about 1.5 stone so far and I'm only 25 weeks so I was starting to get worried that I was gaining too much...especially when I have another 15 weeks to go! I'm going to try not to focus on my weight for now and just think about the good stuff. Got yoga tonight so hopefully that will put everything back into perspective!

violetbubbles · 23/03/2010 07:37

Wonder - we have a cat too but he's an indoor cat. He's still quite young (3 yrs old) and likes to hit us with his paws so we'll need to be careful of that when the baby arrives. We're investing some time in preparing him for the baby just now and trying to be sensible about buying a little net for over the cot so that he can't get in with the baby for a cuddle!

Jojobil · 23/03/2010 08:25

Wonder - Firerise is right get the Feliway! I have 2 cats and one is very freaky - when we moved to our new fat last summer she scratched the s*t (excuse my French) out of me. Anyway Feliway really helped her settle.

Viksam you can ask for a toxoplasmosis test. They just take your blood and check if it's in positive. If your pet has it you will have it too...

I've had a bad night DD vomiting all over the bad 4 times... Managed to keep the fever down with Nurofen. And she is eating an apple and a pancake now. Fingers crossed!

memphis83 · 23/03/2010 08:52

firerise regards to icandy apple i got the travel system for the opposite reason, were all short so we wanted adjustable handles so they werent near our chins! but they expand really high which is a plus for if anyone tall wants to walk our LO! ive had mine set up for over a month i keep going to FIL and playing with it!!
My friend is now officially overdue and very bored i suppose its a sign of things to come!!
is anyone having strange dreams? i keep having dreams that my teeth are black and falling out, think its because im having a brace fitted next month! happy tuesday ladies!

Chulita · 23/03/2010 09:11

Morning ladies!

memphis, I sold my motorbike a couple of months ago. I took forever to heal after the cs so couldn't hold the weight of it til about 11 months after DD was born and then I got pregnant again...don't think I'll get another til our family's complete, just a waste having it sat around! Definitely miss it though!

DD's got a fever and I've got a cold/cough so we're both miserable...I need my mum for a couple of days - shame they live 6 hours away

stac14 · 23/03/2010 09:17

memphis i lost bout that too and thats seems to be what i put on. Huge boobs and belly lol go you with the motorbike

wonder defo seems like behavioural problems due to the changes in your house. Cats are very habitual. Why not try some of the websites? Or call a pet training centre they are usually good for advice. Hows your back? Physio gave me a bump band.

viksam hope all goes well for dh, i lost my mum and could never have been so brave as to say a eulogy. Hope your ok too. You starting to feel a bit more organised? When does the conservatory work start? X

OP posts:
stac14 · 23/03/2010 09:25

hope dd's get better soon chulita and jojo

Anyone who's having thier 2nd/3rd etc feel they have sproute quicker and bigger this time? I feel huge even though i havent put on loads of weight. Oh well worth it in the end. I just realised its only 16wks to edd or 14 if i get a section, need to get more organised

kapars · 23/03/2010 10:32

Morning ladies. On the weight issue I think it is best not to worry - we have enough to think about as it is. I have been relatively healthy, lots of fruit and vegetables but I am still enjoying eating lots of cake etc..
I have always been skinny and I have now put weight on my bum! I am in bigger knickers but I am not too worried as I am doing yoga and walking lots.
I think we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves.
memphis yes lots of wierd dreams and really vivid so I remember them clearly in the morning. Last night I dreamt I could see the baby moving cross my stomach - really sticking out. It was very odd. Think it was prob cos the baby seems to be kicking all the time. I haven't worked out lo's sleeping pattern. But then my dh apparently was a crazy lively baby so perhaps lo will take after him!

kapars · 23/03/2010 11:00

emster I just saw that you had posted on a whipps cross thread and wanted to see if you have had a tour of the maternity ward yet? I have never been offered one but have my midwife appointment on Thursday so will ask about it then. I know it was having work done then was partly closed cos of norovirus.

GlastonburyGoddess · 23/03/2010 14:11

Wonderstuff - I totally sympathise with the cat issue. we have three and the two girls have taken to peeing in really inappropriate places, used to be once in a blue moon, but since this pregnancy they are doing it several times a week. have tried literally every trick in the book and nothings worked. I would suggest trying your cat on feliway, although check out VET.UK as they are MUCH(£10+) cheaper than buying it from the vets.
yesterday on of the little gits peed on the hob of the cooker, dp went to make tea, didnt realise the back hob was wet and it got hot....my god the smell...it was truely awful that I have to say was the last straw and today I have rang around the rescue centres and theyve put them on waiting lists for rehoming, I just cant cope with that no matter how much I love them.

I went to tesco this morning, got some bargains, theyve got baby sponges half price, and brush and comb sets reduced.
If anyone has older children- I got some jeans for the boys with belts on them-marked up at £9 a pair, went to the till and they went through at £4 & £5 a pair, so I went back and got them 4 pairs each! lovely!

Also if anyones after cot sheets- on tesco direct two neutral printed pattern fitted sheets are dowhn to £6 something

Chulita · 23/03/2010 16:04

I had to pass my cat on after DD was born (and I know that idea is frowned upon on MN), he would wee/poo in her pushchair/bouncy chair. I just felt I couldn't wash things hot enough and when I was bfing he'd try and squeeze in between me and her, literally pushing her off the boob. Bearing in mind I had a cs too, a fully grown cat leaping onto my stomach was not welcome. So yea, I miss him but the stress was just not worth it (he's far happier now btw, spoilt rotten by a couple with no babies!)
I finally got 40 mins kip in when DD shut her eyes for an hour but I'm counting the seconds til DH comes home then I'm back in bed. I'm exhausted, sick children are no fun!

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/03/2010 16:11

memphis Im having strange dreams indeed, mine seem to be VERY raunchy, nothing is off limits in my dreams apparently lol. The other night I think I may have even orgasmed in my sleep

I spent the day at my sisters today helping her steam clean her carpet, and then Im back there 2mo with a load of friends for lunch!

Think I might do spag bol for dinner tonight, havent got any garlic bread though

Also LO has been kicking alot today which has put my mind at rest a bit

stac14 · 23/03/2010 16:28

the cat we had when ds was born didnt do the loo all over the place, but he did think the moses basket, pram and cot were for him even when ds was in it, he eventually stopped it but it was worrying at the time as i thought cat was trying to smother lo.

Thanks for the info glaston dh sure your spag bol will be fine without garlic bread. We're having steak pie yum.

I seem to feel hungry all time, need to keep the fruit stocked up lol, any other snack ideas?

Hope you get a good sleep chulita and dd is better soon x

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 23/03/2010 16:39

stac yeah I must say I do make a good spag bol

I eat bread sticks with humous for a snack, really quite filling and good for you.

Also bananas

Firerise · 23/03/2010 17:43

Just thought of another cat tip which could be used to disuade them peeing in the wrong place and that is orange zest! We used it when ours were kittens and it stopped them from doing it in one of the corners...I guess it may also stop them jumping in Moses baskets/cots if you put a bit on the edges as they don't like it?!

Memphis hadn't thought about handle height from that perspective but would be another plus point as half the family are giants the other half are tiny and nothing inbewteen!

Really looking forward to yoga tonight as it should help both my back and stress levels! Getting stressed at work and finding it really hard to let things go which I know I have to as it's not good for the lo but easier said than done!

memphis83 · 23/03/2010 20:31

stac ive been hungry all day today and only healthy thing ive eaten is a plum and bowl of cheerios! everything else was covered in sugar or butter!
dh apperently raunchy dreams are normal and more graphic if your having a boy according to some books ive read! i had a dream the other week that the baby climbed out of the belly button and walked off which was strange! but no raunchy ones for me!

taking my lovely dog to vets tomorrow lunch im worried as ive got to go alone!
LO started kicking up near my ribs today for the 1st time so now hes starting to take up more room! another strange thing ive noticed is when my belly rumbles with hunger it rumbles at my ribs not in pit of my stomach

viksam · 23/03/2010 20:49

wonder I was going to suggest the plug ins to, let us know how you get on if you choose to use one.

JoJobil I had read about the toxo test but not sure what I would achieve having it, need to look in to it properly and speak to my midwife, yet another thing to be riddled with worry about.

chulita I know how you feel ur Mom being so far away, what will happen when the baby comes, will they come visit?

Stac He is brave, i just hope i hold up for him. Sorry about ur Mom, its a horrible horrible thing. I have a visit from the conservatory people on friday to finalse details and sort a date, hopefully it will be mid may, that would give us time to bed it in. I do feel more sorted i must admit.

Glasto Such ashame about ur cats but i seriously dont blame you, thats too much. They are clearly not happy as that isnt normal cat behavour. It must be hard but it seems you all would be happier.I dont think any decision anyone makes should be frowned upon, what right for you at the time has to be right in the long run. Honestly not sure how I will like having them around LO stuff but at least with the conservatory we will be able to seperate the house a bit more and that will help.

I have had giant back pain in the evenings for the past week or so. Its as some of you have said, like rib pain but, MAN, it hurts. I am sat on a fold up dining room chair in the middle of the living room floor because i dont think the sofa is doing me any good. What are you guys doing for the pain, its really bad tonight. Also does anyone get really bad pain at the botton of ur bump? I can only asume its round ligament pain, i really need to get off my feet more often at work i think, but its easier said than done isnt it.

Jojobil · 23/03/2010 21:18

I've had raunchy dreams too! Lots of!

stac14 · 23/03/2010 23:31

thanks viksam it was 12years ago so i am fine now. When is the funeral?
dh when i was preggers with ds i had loads of dreams and wanted lots of nookie but this time not many dirty dreams and i cant be bothered with nookie either. Have had vivid dreams but not bout the other lol maybe its the boy hormones

Soz bout your cats glaston will the kids be ok bout it?

memphis feel like a greedy bitch lol all part and parcel eh? X

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 24/03/2010 09:21

memphis yep def having a boy so that would back up the theories!

stac Yes same here with the wanting lots of nookie lol. It prob is the boy hormones, maybe this is what its like to be a man!

stac14 · 24/03/2010 09:33

Probs dh its defo the closest we will ever get lol this time though I'm not bothered, typical girl lol

whats everyone up to today? I am doing housework and moaning at dp for not sorting things when he should have men eh!

violetbubbles · 24/03/2010 09:57

Hey stac - I'm packing up the flat today. Also, waiting for appointment to come through from physio for my coccyx and back pain...am off work at the moment because of it....although trying to work from home

wonder - we got those Feliway plug-ins when we first got our cat and they worked a treat!

violetbubbles · 24/03/2010 10:04

Viksam - just saw your post about back pain. The only things that seems to alleviate the pain for me is lying in a hot bath. I've also found hot water bottles to be useful when I'm sitting at my desk. Other than that, my pregnancy yoga class is good for strengthening core muscles and making me feel a bit stronger. And aqua natal helps too. I've also been taking paracetamol when the pain gets too much.

Chulita · 24/03/2010 13:06

had a dream last night that I didn't so much birth the baby as have a giant orgasm and the baby popped out - wish it were that easy!
I find bobbing around in a pool is good for back pain, that Dreamgenii pillow seems to make a difference too.
Off for a nap now, I'm shattered!

stac14 · 24/03/2010 13:57

love my dreamgenii pillow it has really helped with my back and pelvic pain x
