just saw my reflection in a shop window and i stopped in my tracks im sure ive got bigger in last few days i was really shocked at what i was looking at!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/03/2010 15:35

Hi all, just got back from my sister's house. Saw a friend I havent seen since I was 20 weeks and she said my bump has def got bigger. I mean I know it does but I dont think I really notice it unless it doubles in size.

Our friends dropped a present through our letterbox today, its a silver photo frame which says "baby's scan" on it so Ive put our fav scan photo in it its really sweet.

Ive had a very good day today but now Im so tired my eyes act dont want to stay open!

spidershavearrived · 24/03/2010 20:41

Evening Ladies, just spent an age catching up on the the latest and I don't seem to able to recall an awful lot of it... Baby brain...., what a great excuse eh! So I'm hoping that you are all well.

Saw obem last night and couldn't believe that one of the babies was born at 23 weeks, eek given that I am 25 weeks today - can't imagine how the poor love must have felt.

Stac I had a bad tear with DS, think we may have touched on this before (apologies if I'm repeating). I have been offered a VB or a CS, there are pros and cons for both. After talking to MW recently, who incidentally wasn't my normal one but was better!, DS was small, I had an episiotomy and still tore badly. MW suggested it could be my tissue so I'm going for CS.. decision made. Got an appointment with Consultant next week to discuss further.

DH DS was up at 6am today and now I'm feeling like death warmed up so I'll be off to bed soon.

Must go and get myself some preg vits as my diet is not the best, just fancying rubbish, rubbish and more rubbih and because oh is away tonight that's exactly what I've had!

stac14 · 24/03/2010 21:36

memphis thats great news about the dog hun, you must be relieved he is on the mend hun. Trying to avoid eating as much but it is too hard lol

dh I feel as if I have really sprouted since 20 weeks, didnt really pop till then lol thats a lovely gift, we have quite a few scan pics and I am trying to find a decent album for them, think I may be better going to a book store or something

spiders think I may be in the same position as you regarding the cs but as we are not sure if they will get my notes I am concerned they will make me go for vb which as you know can cause lots of complications. Just need to wait till my appointment in April

LO is getting far more active my the day, you can actually see my belly move but everytime I try to show dp she stops lol

Going to visit my dad tomorrow, havent seen him in ages (we're not very close) but my brother's oh had thier baby and dad seems to be being kept in the dark so felt sorry for him. Preggers hormones are defomaking me soppy lol

Hi all
Memphis glad your dog is on the mend

Thanks for all cat suggestions, will get round to ordering a plug in when I get a mo

I am having horrid back ache. It was actually better today than yesterday, I think because I spent more time standing today, sitting down is not good. I have a fairly upright armchair which seems to be the best for sitting comfortably, hot baths are really good too. Am going to try to get into doing my yoga dvd again and have an exercise ball which is good for core strength (as recommended by my PE dept), just need to get round to blowing it up.

Yoga then bed is the order of the evening, just got out of a really long bath where I munched though half a big bar of Green and Blacks - have had such a draining day, glad I'm not back in till Monday. When I can sort out peoples problems I love my job, when the issues are ones I can't help with it is really hard, I need a magic wand, if all my kids had healthy supportive parents I could get them all reading and getting on with each other and going to class..

viksam · 25/03/2010 09:42

stac the funeral is today. Im not looking forward to it one little bit but at lease it will be over before we know it. Its funny what you said about the baby movement stopping when you show DP, its exactly the same for me! really annoying coz i really want him to feel involved, especially at the moment.
wonder sounds like a challenging job, it must be really difficult not to speak ur mind to some parents, such a shame some kids have a crap start.
Did everyone watch OBEM? That 23 wk baby was amazing, how tiny. The mother and father seemed sweet, isnt it amazing what we women blame ourselves for. I wonder if she had gone on to develop ok. It was quite disturbing really though, dont know if i prefer to see horrid labour than poorly babies.
Right better go get sorted for the vile day we have in front of us
xxx

stac14 · 25/03/2010 12:14

hope all goes well today viksam i'm sure your hubby is finding the baby a welcome distraction over the past while. Dp caught lo unawares last night and felt her kicking loads, he said it makes him feel more involved too.

wonder are you a teacher? Its harder for kids when they dont have support at home. We live in whats meant to be a deprived area luckily most of the parents at my sons school put thier kids first and are supportive of thier needs but i struggle with the ones you know are havin a hard time. Oh dear best get off my soap box probably not making sense lol. My back ache gets worse if i'm standing too long. Have you tried a support band?

I dont think i will watch obem, my friends daughter was born at 24wks due to pre eclampsia and it was a horrible time for everyone. Luckily shes a healthy 8 year old now.

Whats everyone up to today? I'm going to see my dad, can't be bothered terrible i know lol x

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 25/03/2010 12:56

Im having another sofa day today, need to venture out later to get dinner for tonight.

I watched obem, it was really sad, couldnt believe how tiny that 23 week old baby was. Really glad they both survived though.

Have a strong craving for smarties atm so will be getting some of those today!

Ill be getting my travel system within the next week, the sale on kiddicare finishes next Wed so want to get it before then. MIL said she will help us with the cost which is very generous of her

LO has been kicking SO much over the past few days but everytime DP puts his hand on my tummy he stops! Its quite frustrating cos he literally kicks all day long lol.

memphis83 · 25/03/2010 13:20

its lovely and sunny here today, which is good as i can open our french doors, to stimulate our dogs appitite ive been told to give him dried fish skin which smells terrible!
LO kicks constantly i 1st saw my belly move at 18 weeks which was early so i thought they may have got my dates wrong but my midwife says its just because of lack of fat on my tummy!
obem was an emotional one to think that they were born not as far along as i am now scared me stac lovely to here your friends child pulled through that must be so terrible for anyone in that situation

stac14 · 25/03/2010 14:46

its good to know that babies can go on to have a normal life when born so early. Dp was also 3months prem, and hes 34 lol. Got some bad news my stepbrothers daughter who was born on sunday is in intensive care, they think she has fluid on her brain. Weird situation as we're not close, but still feel for them. Just hope everything will be ok, soz for the downer x

stac thats sad about your stepbrothers daughter hope she will be ok.
mlic lack of fat on the tummy, still have a big bump, and there is definatly not a lack of fat on the thighs, hips (hideous muffin top), bingo wings and chins haha, wont be long b4 i develope cankles either i reckon, its strange as everyother part of me is fatty but tum is just like a medicine ball is up my top! you have been busy today i bet when he woke up you wanted to doze off

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/03/2010 15:26

stac sorry to hear about your stepbrothers daughter, hope shes ok.

Ive just got back from Tesco, its raining here got a big bag of smarties! Also just eaten the crispiest juiciest apple yum!!

I havent got tummy fat either so I can see LO kicking all the time. He seems to be at his busiest in the morning.

kkfairybrains · 25/03/2010 15:33

vik hope today goes ok for u both x
stac really hope she's ok thats horrible news x
funniest thing happened me today! called up to see my friend as haven't seen her in ages and she was due on 21st april.anyway i walk in and she's holding a tiny little baby and i was there 'oh he's so scrumtious who's is he?' and she says 'are u serious.........he's mine!' couldn't believe it! i heard her waters broke a couple of weeks ago but i never realised she had him! felt so silly! he's absolutely gorgeous and his name is danny! cant wait to have my own one!
hope everyone ok today!xx

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/03/2010 16:05

Aww kk how sweet and funny you asking who's it is! It was originally due on my birthday!

Ive been watching my LO kick me all day, I really cant wait to meet him Im so excited!

kapars · 25/03/2010 16:08

vik hope funeral is ok

I had my midwife appointment today. I wanted to ask how the care is in other parts of the country as in London it is just crap.
The midwives are lovely just vvv overworked.
I saw someone for the first time at 12 weeks - she was an hour late and then rushed me through in 15 minutes. Considering I had a miscarriage last year and was a nervous wreck I could have done with more time for my questions and feel I should have been seen earlier. (in my first pregancy I was seen at 7 weeks).
My second appointment was in the hospital at 16 weeks and that was only for 10 mins.
Then today at 25 weeks I met my actual midwife for the first time. She was half an hour late. I had tons of questions for her but she just rushed me through and I didn't feel like asking her my more silly questions then.
I just think antenatal care in this country is in a sorry state of affairs due to shortage of midwives/funding etc..
Is anyone else experiencing this or have you had better experiences?

Wonderstuff · 25/03/2010 16:20

Hi all - dd woke at 5.30 - she hasn't napped - I am so shattered. I did 'close my eyes for a minute' when she was watching cbeebies - woke up to find her in the kitchen decorating the floor with about half a box of washing powder! Could have been much worse really.

Am currently sitting in the dark because she has pulled all the curtains so dolly can nap.

Stac really hope your stepbrothers lo is ok, must be scary.

Hope the funeral goes well today viksam

I have eaten so much chocolate today - must stop it or I'll be the size of a whale before long. Yesterday was so draining, I am an SEN teacher, one of our parents died suddenly which was just heartbreaking and I am doing alot of work with a girl who is in care whose life is just crap atm, I found it so hard to relax and so I went to bed late and so could have done without her waking up with the sun this morning. Finding it had to be motivated to do very much - we have watched well over the recommended daily allowence of TV, washing up is only half done, house is a tip..
Tomorrow is another day though, I will eat healthily, get my house straight and not give in to dd's every whim tomorrow...

stac14 · 25/03/2010 16:27

thanks ladies, i'm sure she'l be ok. Will keep you posted.

Re fat on tummy that seems to be where all mine are but with ds it was everywhere. Can see lo move loads but more so when i lie down.

mlic you must be shattered, take it ds will be worn out too

kk thats lovely, how many weeks early was he?

dh i got lovely crunchy apples from tesco too but somerfields are crap. I got lovely fruit jellies from there though yum

kapars all my apps have lasted about 30-40mins but mine are cons led so that may be why. Our mw's are overworked too due to the closure of one of the maternity hospitals in glasgow, think if you get an afternoon appointment it can be a cattle market. Luckily my cons is a monday morning. Is that what you mean? Also if you have a healthy pregnancy your in and out x

OP posts:
stac14 · 25/03/2010 16:31

poor you wonder you must be shattered. How are things with your cats. is a sen teacher special educational needs? I am a bit dense at the mo with the preggo brain x

OP posts:
kkfairybrains · 25/03/2010 16:35

he was 6 weeks early.she has a dd also she's 1 and a half and she was 12 weeks prem. whatever it is she just cant carry full term.
she also gave me loads of maternity clothes too! theres a lovely wrap dress in it so im very happy with that! she says she def wont be needing them any more as this is her last!

Wonderstuff · 25/03/2010 16:43

Yep SEN = special educational needs - I'm in mainstream but about 35% of our kids are on the SEN register. I work with kids with poor literacy and others with autistic spectrum issues.

Just discovered the cat has peed on the sofa again, feel like crying but that won't help will it? DD has just this minute fallen asleep - i'll give her half an hour I guess. I wish I could get her to sleep in the day. Her grandparents manage it - they have a really solid routine going on - I've never been able to establish one - just not organised enough or strict enough I guess.
Off to order blackout blinds and cat valium..

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/03/2010 17:14

Ive eaten most of the bag of smarties I bought earlier

DP is going to be late home hes in London so takes him a good 2 hours to drive home so guess I wont be doing my carbonarra tonight which is a shame as I was craving it after watching Masterchef last night.
I know its not his fault that hes going to be late and I blame it on hormones but I always feel annoyed when he says hes going to be late, its like hello Ive been here all day by myself grr.

memphis83 · 25/03/2010 17:15

kapers our midwife service is brilliant in leicester, i had 1st app at 4 weeks as they thought i was further along then 12 weeks 18 weeks and seeing her again next week only lasts about 10 mins but she always asks how im feeling and if i have any questions no matter how sill, she always has a midwife assistant with her which i guess is a student, ive been told midwives in the labour ward here are awful though and that the antenatel classes arent even worth going to which is a worry!
stac a lot of people told me b4 i knew what i was having that it was a boy as i had fatter hips and bum but if its a girl you have all weight on your bump so maybe they were right?
