Happy birthday for tomorrow DesperateHousewife21, getting this in now as I seem to be in meetings for the next few days . Come Friday I will only have 9 weeks left at work though - woo hoo!

So sorry you're having a tough time memphis83, but I'm sure next weekend will be much better! Hope mw appointment goes well x

Jojobil · 20/04/2010 13:47

Sorry to hear that memphis I know how upsetting this is. I've been having arguments with DH last week.. We (pregnant ladies) are more sensitive at the moment and need more assurance. And also we are a little hard to live with at times ;) I am sure you guys will have a lovely weekend this week. Hugs to you

beckyg123 · 20/04/2010 13:56

Jojo and stac that sounds sore! I have terrible hip pain, like sciatica but its not bad in mornings and worse at night. I am also quite swollen down below but not sore like you describe. I would get to physio asap- you don't want to do anything to make it worse!

Oh memphis poor you! My DH works long hours and late shifts so we can go for days without seeing each other- i find we argue much more when we have limited time together and its usually my short temper that starts it off (although will never admit that to DH!). It is silly when all you really need to have some nice quality time together. I'm sure next weekend will be better

DH21 will try to get photo of bump at the weekend. Mine is now so big its getting in the way between me and my desk at work!

Anyone had any cravings yet? strange or normal!

Irishfairy · 20/04/2010 14:49

Hi all,

Just been catching up on the thread.

I´m stranded in Gran Canaria at the moment! Was supposed to leave on Saturday, now looks not likely until the weekend when I will be 30 weeks. So hoping flights are working again by then, feeling quite cumbersome and have some pelvic pain so don´t fancy flying to Madrid and getting a coach, ferry etc. On the plus side will only have 2 weeks of work left when I get back

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/04/2010 17:23

memphis sorry to hear your having rows with your DH, I feel like this too, I get so down and grumpy for no partic reason and little things really annoy me.
If you read yesterdays bit of the thread you will have seen I cleaned the bathrooms even though I really didnt want to and lo and behold this morning I go into the bathroom and DP has made a mess of it, I feel so mad but dont want to shout at him, hes getting my birthday present today after work but I will be having words with him.

Thanks ness hope they dont make you work too hard at work!

becky yay glad someone is still keen on the idea! Would love to see a pic mine is getting huge too I cant see my feet haha

Have had a really good day today with my friend, we sat in the garden and had lunch and it was really quite hot when the wind died down, have just battled my way round tesco and lugged 3 bags of shopping up the stairs to our flat, didnt realise I had bought quite so much

kkfairybrains · 20/04/2010 17:31

welcome back irishfairy! oh poor you! could think of worse places to be stuck but im sure its different when you're in the situation.lets hope this volcano calms down!
memphis sorry your having a crap time.i know how it feels to be by yourself alot as im like that myself lately.dp working a full time and a part time job plus his football so i literally never see him anymore and when i do we argue.not all the time but i'v been very good at holding back the hormones! its more like him who gets in moods cos he's so worn out.
jojo and stac you poor girls. really feel sorry for you both cos it doesnt sound one bit nice.
becky i have the same as you, sciatica, and the doctor advised me to take up swimming and i have and find it really helping.
dh i know how you feel about being massive cos i feel exactly the same. i feel as though im ready to give birth with the size i am! my friend was here today and she reckons im going to go before my time cos im very low?! must get my bump pic up if i can nail dp down for 5 mins to take it and oput it up for me!
was planning on spring cleaning the whole house today but only managed to get the kitchen and small bathroom done! pulled out every cupboard and washed absolutley everything so its lovely now! will do the rest of house during the week!

kittykat77 · 20/04/2010 18:13

Evening everybody (just!)

Well had first midwife appointment in ages, and all was fine apart from I am measuring big for my days - on the 90th centile! So have to go back at 31 weeks to check the growth. Both my other 2 were fairly big babies, so not exactly expecting it to be small. Just hoping that I don't go overdue...

Ness I am also counting the weeks left at work - will be 7 this Friday, and I am off next week, so that's really only 6! Decided I am not working past 35 weeks this time... although it's not like I will get much rest at home with 2 pre'schoolers to run round after, but hey ho!

memphis83 · 20/04/2010 18:35

thanks for support ladies, good to know its not just me!!! midwife went ok didnt need the glucose test as im not in a 'risk bracket' but they still took lots of blood, my right leg keeps doind its own thing when im sitting down, apparently LO's head is on the nerves for that legs movement, she thinks his head will be engaged by my next appointment in 3 weeks!!!!!eeek!
dh i know what you mean on the bathroom front, my dh is normally very good but with working away a lot recently standards have slipped (men staying in hotels clearly dont care what the cleaner sees in the morning!!) and i bought him a loo brush and bleach and put a bow on it, he got the message and has gone back to remembering to clean behind himself!
kk your comment on the fart made me laugh, im planning a spring clean all day tomorrow planning being the main word here

stac14 · 20/04/2010 19:37

Evening ladies

How are you all? I bought the last of the baby's stuff today. Asda has its baby week on and there were a few bargains. Picked up nappies, wipes etc and a couple more outfits so now I really have to put a lid on it till shes here. Cant remember if I mentioned but were given a gorgeous homemade quilt yesterday, all patchwork and embroidery from mil's neighbour and with it was a starter box of baby toiletries suck a lovely gift

memphis you and dh will be back on track hun, it just seems to be easy for them to get on our nerves at the moment too

dh you looking forward to your birthday? whats your plans

Poor you nessmay in meetings all week, hope you get on for a catch up

Hiya irish how have you been? This flying carryon is a nightmare but there could be worse places to be stranded eh? Are they putting you up in a nice hotel? My cuz is supposed to be flying to Egypt on Thursday but is doubting she will even be able to get from Dublin to Manchester

kk Do you have your nesting instinct or just a burst of energy? I did cupboards last week, now just to do more in our room in time for the painting and stuff to be done. Never ending lol

Kitty my midwife had a check the other day but never commented on size, I am assuming she is big cos she is giving almighty kicks lol Bet your looking forward to stopping work. I must admit I am glad I dont work at present

The weather is lovely but it is bloody freezing lol Hope everyone else is well xxxx

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 20/04/2010 19:49

kk my bump is low but then it always has been as my torso is so long lol.

memphis LOL at the bleach in a bow! My DP would think I was taking the piss if I did that lol.

stac well DP has taken the rest of the week off and the weather looks positive for 2mo but not sure of exact plans yet, am trying to think of things which are enjoyable and either cheap or free, any suggestions??

kapars · 20/04/2010 20:38

Evening ladies.
stac jojo that's very exciting about knowing your dates!
Can I ask - how early can an elective caesarian be? I was assuming maybe a couple of weeks before as I am being rescanned at 35 due to low-lying placenta. But then I was sent in a panic by my sil who said her friend went for her scan for low-lying placenta and they took the baby out the next day and she was totally unprepared for that especially as they had been reassuring her it would move. This was at 37 weeks.
My baby is definitely still transverse judging from the movements.

memphis My dh is away this whole month which I am not happy about especially as I work mostly from home so am having to do everything myself. The cot is just sat there unopened etc.. as don't want to put it together myself.
Can't say we have been arguing though as we haven't seen enough of each other to argue. I did go and stay with him at the weekend in his hotel although he was working for most of it. I do feel like I have gone through the pregnancy without him sometimes.
Oh I am also 29 weeks on Friday.

I feel massive too, like my belly is about to burst.

dh have a lovely birthday tomorrow. x

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/04/2010 20:57

kapars Im getting scanned at 36 I hope they dont decide to take the baby out the next day, how scary! Im hoping that if a c-sec looks likely they will book me in for a couple of weeks after that scan.
Also thanks for the birthday wishes

stac14 · 20/04/2010 20:59

dh if weathers you could go for a picnic, visit things you normally wouldnt like touristy stuff may be fun

kapars we were told they prefer to do an elective at 39 weeks unless its an emergency as baby is at more risk of breathing difficulties, but that may just be scotland. 37 wks does seem early maybe she had another problem x

OP posts:
Wonderstuff · 20/04/2010 21:13

Aww kapers must be really hard without dh. I feel like I'm about to burst too, actually in the morning I'm fairly comfy, but after lunch my belly gets all tight, one of our pupils at school is 35 weeks and she is much smaller than me, think I'm 27 atm.

Haven't been on here in ages. Trying to avoid spending time sitting down - my back is in agony after about 20 mins now - really annoying, dreading what state I'm going to be in by the time I'm due. Also getting indigestion and achy hips, finding it odd how everyone seems to get so excited everytime they see bump, I'm just fed up with it.

DD is playing us up at bed time - thankfully tonight she fell asleep in the car and went straight down, last night we had an hour of tantrums, she stripped naked, hid her nappy and told us she'd done a poo, we found the clean, dry nappy she'd pulled off and put her back in it and she screwed up her face and put massive effort into squeezing out a wee so she could demand to be changed again, she then stripped her bed, then hid in the airing cupboard and finally decided she really needed a bath and spent 20 minutes trying to run one herself (thankfully she can't reach the taps). This baby is going to have to be massivly laid back or equally determind.

Really hope the volcano stops soon - supposed to be going to NYC Friday week

memphis83 · 20/04/2010 21:15

kapers our cot was when our argument started, i ended up puuting it up alone!! never again! we never normally argue so pregnancy has defo brought the worst out in me!!
just seen a thread on here about midwives making you take wee sample and bottle home, to rinse and re use the bottle, i was really shocked that my midwife does this but relieved ahe isnt the only one, anyone else having to do this? i always feel a bit strange putting pot back in my bag!!!

Jojobil · 20/04/2010 21:18

Yes they told me 39 weeks for an elective too I think 38 is the earliest...

stac14 · 20/04/2010 21:23

ours don't do it but they may start memphis i saw that somewhere too.

wonder you must be knacked hun, is there any particular reason she is acting up? You sound sore, have you contacted the physio? X

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 20/04/2010 21:25

memphis yes my mw rinses out my pot and hands it back to me, she tells me to rinse it with boiled water from the kettle before I next use it but Im SO ashamed to admit I often forget to do this

kkfairybrains · 20/04/2010 21:35

glad to make you laugh memphis!
stac not sure what it is to be honest but definately not a burst of energy as they're few and far between these days! probably is nesting cos i have a list of stuff i want done and am very determined to get everything done in next 6 to 8 weeks cos dont want to be doing it in last couple of weeks! was wrecked after doing kitchen today so think im going to take it one room per day but really clean out evrything!
dp's friend rang him few weeks ago to tell him he had a few baby bits from his little fella and we went to pick them up today and there's a lovely changing table with bath built in and a lovely white crib! delighted with them as it saves us another few pound! lots of little things left to get so have to start getting my ass into gear! cant believe you're all done stac.quilt sounds really sweet!
wonder that sounds really trying you must be exhausted from it all.hopefully she'l have calmed a bit before lo arrives xx

Firerise · 20/04/2010 21:38

V tired and emotional today. Dh was in a crash where the other driver just drove off. He is fine but the car isn't plus we have to shell out £250 excess that I had earmarked for baby stuff.

Still had a row tonight as I REALLY want chips in pita with mayonaise and I know I'm being irrational and it's not healthy blah blah blah but he isn't getting it and is cooking something nutritious that I don't want and thinks I'm being crazy (which I may be a bit) gah!!!!!

Irish hope you are ok for accomodation etc and you won't be stuck too much longer. My parents are stuck in Antigua for at least another week and a half but everything is being covered so v jealous!

wonder hope the planes get sorted for you next week! Can't get comfortable either as my ribs are going to explode! I have to turn over in bed every 5 minutes in the night and it's wearing thin.

dh happy birthday for tomorrow! Picnic sounds like a lovely suggestion!

Now I shall go back to sulking at my tea.....

stac14 · 20/04/2010 21:44

kk dp was so happy i'm done lol. Just have to wait for the big stuff to be sent as most of that is presents, so must say i am a bit nervous lol. I'm the same as you just going to do one room at a time, get knackered with housework lol. Stuff sounds lovely, we got offered a changing station but we have no room for it i had to go for a bath seat to save space x

viksam · 20/04/2010 22:00

Hello ladies, i havent been on in ages but have been trying to catch up for a few days now, this thread moves so quickly!!

I have been on a weeks holiday and had the most lovely weather. We went to St Ives last week and it was so so nice. We stayed in a luxury B&B and it was lovely. At the end of the week i developed a cold but still managed to pick up the pram which is lovely and im dead chuffed with it, also got a nice nappy bag so all is coming together. Today the builders started putting the base down for the conservatory so thats really exciting too.

chulita I have got Lactulose liquid from boots pharmacist for my constipation, it tastes yummy like something you would have had as a kid and it seems to be very gentle but has worked for me in conjunction with fruit and yoghurt in my diet. Im also on the gaviscon liquid which really helps to settle my stomach, even from the windypops!
What i am still really struggling with though is this horrible streching feeling between my ribs just under my boobs, its very uncomfortable, it seems to abate when i lye down or sit up ultra straight, just cant seem to find a comfortable TV watching position which is annoying.
Welcome ness bet u cant wait to see ur niece, she sounds so tiny, how many weeks is she?
So i have caught up with the thread and can not remember what anyone said, prego brain! I think im like a goldfish, 2 second memory!!!
Everyone sounds well and happy though so thats good!

Wonderstuff · 20/04/2010 22:27

BBC reckons all UK airports were due to open at 10pm - BA says will take weeks to sort out, Easyjet reckon days - but should be all OK for Friday week - just been reading thread about people stranded - total nightmare for so many. Seems we are really lucky.

DD being a pain because we were soft on her during our nightmare Scotland trip and let her stay up late and sleep with us. That and she is a very determind little monster when she sets her heart on something - I'm sure if we manage to channel that determination it will serve her well one day, I was quite impressed at the creativity of her efforts yesterday - she doesn't get it from me!

firerise sorry you've had such a pants day. Hope you start getting better sleep.

viksam I'm finding comfy TV watching a challenge - my big ball is fairly pain-free but I just want to lounge out on the sofa.

Got midwife next Wed, has been ages and ages since last appointment - maybe she will have some magic solutions to back ache? We're on the last leg now though aren't we, must find where my moses basket is really

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/04/2010 22:32

Oh quick question before I go to bed.
Can someone tell me if these are braxton hicks, my tummy goes hard BUT generally only on one side, usually on the left where the placenta is, it doesnt hurt at all and wears off after a while. It can happen a few times during the day and as I said completely painless and irregular.
Thanks

Wonderstuff · 20/04/2010 22:32

Oh forgot to say my good friend gave birth to a 9lb 4 baby boy, an unplanned home birth on her bathroom floor! Her first baby was a induced labour that ended up with forceps and horrid tears, so this seems this was a more successful birth, haven't spoken to her yet but the fact that she didn't feel the need to get to hospital must mean it wasn't too painful! Giving my hope that second babies are easier to deliver
