Nice bump pix ladies. My dh took pregnant Demi Moore style pix of me the other night but they won't be going on here!!!
Can't believe how huuuuge I am now.
Had 28 week appointment with midwife. All well, baby's heartbeat strong.
I sympathise with those of you not having enough support from your partners. My dh is away this whole month - only saw him one night this week so I feel like I am doing this all alone at present. He's very focused on work at the moment.
But hoping it will mean he can have lots of holiday when baby comes.

Jojobil · 15/04/2010 16:01

Well my DH came home and apologised and he has been very nice. He has been giving me lots of hugs. So I feel much, much better. Woohoo!

Desperate you need maternity clothes when the ones you have do not fit you anymore There are no guidelines. Every one is different. Some people just open their trousers button ans other people need maternity clothes in two sizes bigger (like me). So just consider yourself lucky!

Deelite I think you should be fine. Babies sleep a lot and you should be more exhausted then baby. Only problem is you will need an extra suitcase for babies nappies, clothes etc... You would not believe how much stuff is needed! Also babies are not very keen on change of routine, scenery and many people in rooms altogether. Even more so different people handling them. So as long as you guys have some privacy... A room you can retire too - you will be fine. Hope that helps

I had my glucose test today. It was at 10.10am, I had to fast of course. They did not have me on the list but after investigation they discovered that my appointment was a lady who delivered already. So some computer mishap. I was out after 1pm. The cup with half a bag of sugar is nasty! I've got a headache and a bruise where they took the blood...

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/04/2010 16:58

jojo its odd cos Ive needed maternity jeans since about 16 weeks but my normal tops are still fitting me fine, I think the strecth marks on my bum is a sign that its not just the tummy thats getting bigger!

Well I say all my tops, alot of them dont fit, just the extra long ones are still ok.

Hope everyone had a good day today, I had a nice time at my sister's house today, the weather has perked up too, its still chilly but sunny at least.

DP is working in London today I hope hes not late home its boring here on my own at the best of times its even worse when hes late.

kapars · 15/04/2010 17:38

Forgot to say midwife said my baby is transverse at the moment so lying across my belly. Anyone else's baby doing that?
Can mean c-section if doesn't move but there is still loads of time to move but then I'm already being re-scanned at 35 for low-lying placenta so that may be why baby is transverse.

DeeLite · 15/04/2010 17:46

Thanks jojo, that's really helpful advice. I think we're going to take the car and rent a holiday cottage while we're there so should be okay on the space front. My big worry is the driving. I read somewhere that newborns shouldn't be in car seats for too long at any one time. Two hours was mentioned as a limit and I'm wondering whether it would be okay to leave it in the car seat for two hours and then break for lunch for an hour and then another two hours etc.

Glad to hear that things are sorting themselves out for you at home .

kapars at my last mw app (25 weeks) my LO was transverse, mw didnt seem concerned at all, PLENTY of time for them to move, she said hes in a little hammock
Im also having a scan sometime in June due to a low lying placenta.

DeeLite · 15/04/2010 18:05

That's really helpful, MLIC. I think the situation you've described is pretty similar to mine. I will talk to DH tonight and see about booking ferry tickets. It will be so nice to have a holiday to look forward to. Also, having support of family and friends will be lovey as we are all alone and clueless here!

Good luck with your appointment tomorrow. Mine is next week. Can't believe how the weeks are flying by.

kapars · 15/04/2010 18:34

desperate I like the idea of the little hammock. At 25 weeks my baby was hiding down by my pelvis and only started to come up the last couple of weeks.
Do you think we have transverse babies now because our placenta is low? read that somewhere on t'internet that is one of the reasons.
I am just wondering if this is making c-section more likely now or not. Though I know there is plenty of time for it all to move around. Guess will know more at 31 week appointment which is on May 6 - election day!

stac14 · 15/04/2010 18:43

Hey ladies

Busy on here today. jojo why do you need to drink a cup of sugary water? I have no idead about this glucose test just that I have an app on monday @ 27weeks

dh I have some tops and bottoms that still fit but others dont so I have a mixture of maternity and normal clothes.

dee I am sure you will have a great trip as mlic if you stop regularly so baby can get out the car chair you will be fine

mlic sounds like a fab day, everyone seems to getting treatments done. I defo need a pedicure for the summer sandles lol

kapars I was told baby was tranverse but also that she would probably move before birth. They still have plenty of room hun

Well today was eventful, DP had to get a cyst removed from his chest so he quite sore, we are fighting to see who can help the other lol. Needless to say we are much more sorted today. Then we got home and my step son had to go to A&E as when he was out playing the other night he kicked a pole while playing football. We thought it was just staved but double checked with the nurse to see if we should get it checked. Turns out he had broken it in 2 places, so it is strapped up and he has to stay off it for 6 weeks. He is gutted as this mean no footy or going with friends.

Whats everyone else been up to? Xx

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/04/2010 19:55

kapars yeah I dont think a transverse lie at the mo is a concern, I think at the scan if the placenta is low then they will arrange a c-sec, baby will move down (hopefully head down) around 34-36 weeks so if baby is still transverse then they will try and turn them.

stac yeah thats what I was trying to say, your way made much more sense!

nessmay · 16/04/2010 13:49

Hi everyone,

I'm 27 weeks (with #1) and have only recently discovered mumsnet - what have I been doing all this time? I'm due 18th July but will probs be 2 weeks earlier than this as I'm a type 1 diabetic, I'm hoping I don't give birth on my 30th birthday!

Can't wait now

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/04/2010 14:22

Welcome nessmay Im also due on the 18th July, but will prob be late as it is my first too!

Im at my mum's atm soaking up the sun in the conservatory, its so warm and lovely Im falling asleep!

Im going out tonight to an all you can eat restaurant, they do chinese, indian and thai food. All the family will be there as it is for my birthday which is next week, Im so looking forward to it

What is everyone else up to today?

Chulita · 16/04/2010 15:02

Hello nessmay! stac your poor DSS, one of my younger brothers did his knee in a couple of years ago and since then he's had surgery/physio etc but the upshot is he'll never play footie again which for him is a massive blow so I know how much 6 weeks will put out a footie player! Hope he doesn't get under your feet too much at home!
I came over all dizzy and nauseous when I woke up this morning, DH nearly called in sick at work. I just couldn't stand up without toppling over and of course DD won't wait for me to feel better. I just closed the living room door and let her get all her toys out then had a 3 hour nap when she did and I feel a bit better now, just a bit shaky. Days like these are when I wish my parents lived closer so I could ring up my mum to help!

kkfairybrains · 16/04/2010 16:43

chulita its horrible isn't it! scary when it happens and your by yourself too.
dh enjoy your night! all you can eat sounds like the perfect night out to me!
everyone must be out enjoying the sun today! i was awake at 5 o clock this morn and could not for the life of me get back to sleep so i got up at 7 and drove up to northern ireland to go to an asda! got garden furniture for £50! table 4 chairs and an umbrella! and the exact same one in southern ireland where i live is 170 euro so about £150! and i started stocking up on nappies. got 2 big packs of size 1's for £10.someone told me thats very good value so just said i'd let you all know cos its no harm to stock up while they'r cheap! got some size 2's aswell.opened up the small ones and they'r sooo cute! can just imagine their little dimply bum in it! made me all excited! been working all day then and just waiting for my next app to come so sitting out on my new garden furniture enjoying the sun!xx

Jojobil · 16/04/2010 16:59

kk don't buy too many newborn nappies as LO could grow out of them asap. Also some brand fit and some don't... My DD was out of the 1st size after a week!

Sorry to hear about your DS stac

Welcome Ness Im 28 + 2 due on the 6th, but will have an elective a week before or so... Waiting for the date now.

Chulita · 16/04/2010 17:18

It is horrible! I remember it happening with DD as well but I was anaemic then and I could nap when I wanted. At least DD wasn't in a whingey mood

I'm really craving pizza, our neighbours have garlic bread every night and today especially it smelt soooo good.

I'm not seeing the MW for another 2 weeks and I want my maternity grant [sulks] got my eye on some summer nursing tops that I want to get and a nice hospital bag (got to make it sound relevant to pregnancy I suppose, lol!

nessmay · 16/04/2010 17:29

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I shall be spending the weekend relaxing in the garden I think, first free weekend in a while (and for the next 18 years!) so intend to make the most of it. I have however just heard that my sister, who is 38 + 5 has been admitted to hospital with possible pre eclampsia. They may have to induce so I shall be waiting by the phone to hear the news!

kkfairybrains · 16/04/2010 18:42

oh crap sorry welcome nessmay! knew i forgot something earlier! im a pure feather brains! hope everything goes ok for your sis.
jojo yeah i was thinking that so i bought size 2's aswell so gonna leave it at that with the newborns and see how i go with them and stock up on the bigger sizes.
just home from swimmin as my last app cancelled til tomorrow so feeling all refreshed now! will definately be in bed early though after that day!
mmm pizza chulita!think thats what i'll have for my dinner as im home alone this eve!

violetbubbles · 16/04/2010 19:49

Welcome nessmay - hope all is well with you and your sister.

stac -sorry to hear about your DS- the next six weeks is going to suck for him hope you're DP is feeling better now too.

Had my growth scan today and baby is a perfect size. He/she is lying low and is all curled up snug as a bug which is why I am measuring so small. So relieved! Was lovely to see LO waving today

dh21 enjoy your night out tonight - food sounds yummy

Anyone heard from becky? Hope she's feeling better!

Still no Internet at the new house so typing this on my phone. Also-can't figure out how to upload photo of my bump from iPhone-anyone else figured it out?

My sister is fine. Her blood pressure has come down so they are just going to continue to moinitor her (and baby of course). It's likely she'll be induced, but they haven't said when. I think my mum is more worried!

MyLifeIsChaotic I'm in Gloucestershire, whereabouts are you? Last year we planned on going to New York for my 30th, don't think we'll be doing that now!

Chulita · 17/04/2010 12:51

mlic DD has massive tantrums too. She actually slept the whole night through last night, yay! But yea, we went for a walk here this morning and every time we tried to put her back in the carrier she'd lie on the floor and scream til I distracted her with mini cheddars/satsumas. And these are going to get worse aren't they? Must be an age thing!
nessmay where will you be having your LO? We were in Gloucestershire til October last year.

Gracie123 · 17/04/2010 14:04

Hello again ladies!! I lost you all for what seems like an eternity!

Nasty MS is finally over (Yippee!!) and I feel soooooo much better for it. Bump has even started increasing in size - so much so that MW reckons LO could be due as early as the 14th now!!!

I haven't started stocking up on nappies yet, but was wandering - is anyone else considering reuseable ones?

I used terry nappies with DS until he was about a year old, but I'm not sure I can face it again. It was fine whilst he was small, but as a 2yo he causes me so much laundry, I'm not sure I could add nappies to it too.

Still pretty undecided, but if I do decide not to bother, I could pass them on to someone who doesn't mind a second hand freebie?

Chulita · 17/04/2010 17:08

Hello gracie! Glad your MS is over I use Bumgenius nappies with DD and I'll get a few more in for the next one and keep using them. They're a birth to potty stuffable nappy so they'll both be able to use the same ones just un/poppered up. It's an extra 2 washes a week and with LO it'll probably be an extra wash every other day but they work well for us. Definitely be on the Huggies for the 1st week though!
