chulita i'm with you on indegestion, had to get pepto from the pharmacist so painful

viksam my nails and hair are fab but skin is as dry as an old stick especially on my face. Gp gave me dermol which is used like soap the applied as a moisturiser afterwards.

kk sounds like you have had a great day and yay bout dps job. You could still have a baby shower, the girl i know doesnt know what shes having and people were really imaginative with gifts some for her and some for lo.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the baby shower thing, really wasnt expected. Now i cant wait x

I'm spotty as hell too! But this is maybe because I'm trying to economise and haven't replaced my clinique face wash (which I love!)
Anyone else having night sweats? Keep waking up with my back and backs of legs absolutely soaked-although I don't feel hot in bed. It's grim! and really doesn't help getting back to sleep after 50th dawn loo trip

Jojobil · 08/04/2010 06:56

Congrats to DH on the job kk ! And happy birthday! It's ovey when they raise to the challenge isn't it? My one was a week ago and DH got me a chocolate and cherry cake when I least expected to share with my mates it was lovely too.

Great news on the baby shower stac that is very lucky indeed and lovely of your mates.
I'm getting lots of hand me downs and pressies and my future God Mother suggested a baby shower but none of my mates had them so I would feel strange....

viksam the rib thing is very common and there are some really good yoga exercises, stretching with arms up and wiggling gently helps! It's a baby expanding bones softening during pregnancy and posture thing. Notice how you sit (especially at meals). Do you arch your arms to the front and round your back. Try sitting straight and take slow deep breaths in and out and stretch gently It really helps! Also with you on the skin front - I am much spottier and my lips are so dry. I splashed out on some lovely Jurlique cremes and body washes and oils and exfoliators... I know they are very expensives, but I am pregnant and the are all organic/ natural and I really feel lovely using them so there!

Ordered a changing mat from ZPM with clouds on blue and a mattress and sheets etc from John Lewis! I used a JL voucher I got from my mate for my birthday and spend 2/3 of the £ 190 pregnancy grant. That was useful! My friend is visiting with her 4 month old from Canada for a week so I will have the cot and everything ready for her!

Anyone else started waking up at un-Godly hours??
What are you all up to today? x

Spirael · 08/04/2010 09:17

Morning all. I hope everyone is doing well today.

I can't really complain, myself. Getting a bit fed up of the 4am wakeup to use the bathroom, as then I struggle to get back to sleep afterwards. Also having a bit of trouble with the muscles down the insides of my legs beginning to ache - presumably as my posture is changing due to the weight? But by the sounds of things I should consider myself lucky I only need to get up once during the night and can still move about relatively freely!

I've been quite lucky with skin, hair and nails too. My skin is fine at the moment and clearer than normal, while my hair and nails are growing non-stop...except for body hair which seems to have stopped growing entirely. Not that I'm complaining, mind!

One thing I have noticed though is that I need to wash my skin with just hot water at present, as shower gels were causing me to itch - I think because they were drying my skin? So if you're not already, maybe just try good old fashioned hot water and elbow grease for a bit, anyone suffering their skin drying out?

I'm unlikely to get a baby shower. Most of my RL friends are male, for a start! Of the RL female friends I do have, none are really mature/close enough to consider organising a baby shower. My family are all a minimum of 150 miles away, so no help there either! However I know a few of my extended family are getting me things like blankets and baby clothes, which is lovely. My parents and ILs have already got us the travel system/cot respectively.

Incidentally, is anyone interested in getting the BabyBjorn Babysitter Balance Bouncer seat for their LOs? It appears to be generally considered to be one of the best bouncers from the reviews I've been finding on MN and elsewhere.

I ask because it's usually a hefty £99 in price, but Amazon have it for £64.70 (black/silver) at present. They dropped it down yesterday from where it was £75! Hopefully this link should work... But if not, then go search it on Amazon.co.uk. You might have to go into the 'other sellers' option to find Amazon with their price (and free delivery) as it's currently 2-3 weeks delivery time.

I figured I'd share in case anyone else was planning on picking one up. Hope that's ok!

In a fit of spending yesterday (just got my bonus at work...) I also got myself a new washer/dryer. My current machine is reaching the end of its life and the dryer part is now refusing to work at all. I took it all apart earlier in the week (Nothing like the sight of a pregnant woman armed with a screwdriver and contorted into a washing machine!) and cleared everything out. However it didn't fix it, so looks like the heating element/sensor and/or fan box would need changing.

DH and I did the maths and replacing the parts really isn't worth it, considering the cost of the parts and cost of a new machine. We're becoming such a throw-away society! But anyway, found a really good deal online for a shiny new machine, with £100 off. It's being delivered (and fitted) a week on Monday, the same day I get the travel system!

So many new toys, so little time...

memphis83 · 08/04/2010 09:39

spireal i think im the same as you, witht he hair issue, i was going to ask on here about body hait as mine seens to have stopped growing too and i thought this was odd!
stac same with my skin, my nails and hair are fine but my skin feels so dry! feel like my back skin is cracking which in reality it isnt as i make dh rub oil on my back every night and on my face is dry too, bought an organic dry skim cream for face that got good reviews but it smell awful!
jojo the early mornings are killing me 2, takes me ages to get to sleep then i wake up early dh went to work at 4.30 then the birds kept me awake so i just got up! ive got a blackout blind to put up hoping that will help!
ive got neurologist this afternoon apart from that ive got a lazy day, he will have a shock last time i saw him was week b4 i found out i was pregnant now ive got a football up my shirt!!!

stac14 · 08/04/2010 10:50

Morning all, how are you today?

mooky i do have a few more spots but the dry skin is a nightmare. I am in and out the covers in bed constantly, must be the hormones fluctuating.

jojo none of my mates did either but the last kid was born 7yrs ago. Think its just more commen now, if your friends want to you should let them, it's a nice way to get all your pressies at the one time. I feel like i'm awake 20 times per night, mainly to get comfy its a pain. How long did it take for your grant to come through?

Wow spireal your handy, i would have no idea how to do any of that. Thanks for the tip on the bouncy chair, i'm going for a look. Wish my body hair had stopped growing, its worse than ever lol.

memphis i just got verticle blinds before i found out i was pregnant and now i need to get black out curtains as lo will defo be up at the crack of dawn. I have loads of different creams, some are oily or too heavy. The dermol the doc gave me is great for everywhere and i use it to wash in as well. Let us know how you get on at the neurologist hun x

Spirael · 08/04/2010 11:48

Hee, I'm a bit of a tomboy, Stac. Whereas my beloved DH is surprisingly domesticated! It's really not uncommon in our household for me to be doing car maintainance or taking appliances apart, while DH whips up a tasty cake and cleans the house.

I can't help but wonder sometimes what effect this will have on the LO, as we reverse gender stereotype around them.

I often wish DH could take the maternity leave time instead of me - he'd be so much better at it!

stac14 · 08/04/2010 12:41

pity you the new law hasnt come into play yet spireal as DH would have been able to take 6 month paternity leave. I'm sure lo will take traits from both of you, so will be domesticated but can fix things too. My grandpa was like that

OP posts:
memphis83 · 08/04/2010 12:59

spireal i wish my dh could cook, he isnt that great at it or DIY so its me with a drill in one hand and a whisk in the other!
stac neurologist has had to cancel the appointment so im not going until june 3rd now!! just been down the park with my sil and her kids its so sunny here, trying to get my dog to cheer up hes having a bad day with his illness again! im going to treat myself to a new camera ive had mine 3 years so its a bit tired and i figure i can justify it as we need to capture the LO on camera, saw a good deal at currys 199 down to 75 and then im going to treat myself to some more creams!

kkfairybrains · 08/04/2010 14:04

memphis what camera are you going for?i want a new one too as the one i have is fine but it takes ages to actually take the pic and by the time its taken the moment is gone!
i was in stitches laughing at your post spireal!
quick question for you all-nearly fainted this morning. its the 4th time its happened me since being preg and its quite scary! my head just goes really funny and i lose control of my body but always manage to pull myself out of it by sitting outside and breathing in the fresh air.my friend was here this morn when it happened and she got such a scare! really dont know what it could be.i mentioned it to a midwife ages ago and she didnt seem concerned by it.anyone else have any experience of this?

GlastonburyGoddess · 08/04/2010 15:20

.

Jojobil · 08/04/2010 15:45

stac I got the £190 very quickly. Maybe a week or 2 weeks max!

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/04/2010 15:55

Hi all, Im sitting at my dining table as its right in the sun and lovely and warm!

Ive had a good day today, went to my sisters mates house and all the kids were playing in the garden.

Ive got my friend coming over with his son who is 10 mo soon. We stayed round their house on Sat and they had bought us a photo frame with 3 sections, 1st scan, 2nd scan and when the baby is born, its really lovely.

Hope everyone else is having sunny days!

memphis83 · 08/04/2010 16:10

kk it was a samsung that looked really good for its money, but the stupid sales people were so pushy slating every camera under £100 he was determined i had this camera that i didnt want so i left empty handed the one he showed me was brilliant but it had so many features i wouldnt have used it i only wanted to take a bloody picture! on the fainting thing ive had a few like that i mainly get them now when i bend down, my mum always used to say she knew she was pregnant when she fainted, she never faints and only ever did when she was pregnant, my midwife says its because we have more blood pumping through our body! worth bringing it up to her again though
dh weve got glorious sunshine 2, i dragged my gliding chair in front of the french doors at lunch but must remember to move it back b4 dh gets back or he will tell me im doing too much!! according to him when your pregnant you cant do anything!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/04/2010 08:55

Morning all,
Its sunny again today yay! Im going out for a wander round town with my mum soon. Also DP is going to a colleagues leaving do tonight so I dont have to cook which is a bonus

Im quite proud to say my belly button is still an inny!! DP says its got wider and shallower though lol and he thinks its a bit freaky haha.

Hope everyone has a good day today

kapars · 09/04/2010 10:15

Morning ladies,
It looks like I have a urine infection. Nice.
My usual need to go to the loos every 10 minutes has turned into a constant need even when I have just been and I have pain as well so the midwife is sending me off to the GP this morning to get some antibiotics.
Has anyone else had this in pregnancy before?
Im sure it's nothing to worry about as I believe it is quite common in pregnancy but then you can't help worrying.

On a happy note, my cot arrived from Kiddicare yesterday so am very excited about that. It's our first major purchase.

stac14 · 09/04/2010 10:18

Morning all, got my grant form filled in and sent away so cant wait to go shopping. I got lo the cutest dressing gown with matching slippers, it was only £7 from peacocks. They do boys too. Well i have a house full, step son came over and ds had a friend staying. I'l be getting them dressed and throwing them out lol. I am going to ds's football dance tonight with the girls can't wait for a good catch up. How are you all today? Any plans? X

OP posts:
stac14 · 09/04/2010 10:23

kapars i had one in early pregnancy you will be fine, they just like to catch it quick. Once the antibiotics kick in you'l be fine. I was advised to drink robinsons fruit barley and as much as possible it really helped. Hope you feel better soon x

Morning everyone.

My belly button is still currently an 'innie' too, DesperateHousewife. Like yours, it's stretched a bit and is a lot shallower than before - I can actually see the bottom of it now! Rather than being freaked, my DH is fascinated by it and keeps commenting that it'll be an 'outie' at some point. I'm not convinced... I think it'll just end up as a stetched mess myself!

Woo for the cot arrival, kapars! It's so exciting having all the new things arrive - it's like Christmas over and over again! The cot I ordered is currently still sat flat packed in the box in the conservatory, DH won't let me build it until the nursery decorating is done and it can go straight into place. Sure that makes sense but... I want to put it all together noooow!

My day is the usual dull work and Mumsnet distraction, Stac. I was able to head to the office a bit later than usual though because DH is doing some first aid training this morning so could drop me off outside the door. I get to leave a bit early too as I have a MW appointment this afternoon. Nice short Friday! Hopefully I'll get to hear LO's heartbeat again later.

Some minor amusement this morning for me, however. There's a Grand National lottery being run at work for the race tomorrow and I managed to randomly draw a horse called "The Package". Appropriate?

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/04/2010 16:36

kapars I had a urine infection just before I was pregnant but have heard its very common during pregnancy as well, they say its nothing to worry about as long as you know you have it, I think its if it goes undetected it can cause harm but theres nothing to worry about! Congrats on the cot arriving that must look lovely, have you put it up yet? Our spare room still doesnt look like a nursery, just looks like a room with loads of baby stuff in!

stac Ive also seen the dressing gowns in peacocks they are so so sweet!

spirael yeah I think mine will end up as a stretched mess too! Good luck at the midwives, I love hearing LO's heartbeat
LOL at The Package!!

kapars · 09/04/2010 17:33

Well the GP tested my urine and said it seemed fine but he has sent off to the lab just in case and has also given me antibiotics to take tomorrow if my pain etc doesn't get better.
It is still as bad now so I would be surprised if it wasn't an infection and not sure what else it could be. Dr said it couldn't be the baby dancing on my bladder all that time!
I think he is sick of the sight of me as I have been to see him loads with one thing or another ..but I don't want to take any chances at all with this pregnancy.

desperate spirael Yes I am very excited to put the cot up but my husband is away most of this month and am not going to attempt on my own! Very rubbish him being away.
We are renting our home at the moment - complicated situation but we own a flat we rent out and are renting a house. We intend to sell the flat and buy a house next year but it means there is no point in us doing up the spare room as a nursery so we will have the baby in the cot next to us and keep spare room as an office.
And cos of my husband's work situation we are very behind in getting anything done. So I have a total of seven vests, some cute outfits, cotton wool, nipple cream and a cot! and that is it.
But at least I have a list for what I need for hospital and can buy things gradually.
My mum buys baby a new outfit every time she leaves the house and keeps showing me them on skype so sure we will get there in the end.

mlic hope ds is feeling better.

memphis83 · 09/04/2010 19:50

spireal and dh i had an outie b4 pregnancy due to hernia when i was born and now i have no belly button at all, when i went to hospital last week the very heavily pregnant midwife even said oooh you belly button has totally disappeared, it freaks dh out!

been work today and im so tired, we didnt have what a woman wanted and as she walked off she said she hopes i burn in hell! i said i hope so too i like to be warm and heaven isnt for me as i dont really like heights!!! how rude!

dh is away next week so he is taking me out tomorrow to stratford upon avon for the day starting with breakfast then a ride up the river and hes going to do a picnic too so looking forward to that after my lousy day

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/04/2010 22:46

kapars thats a shame about your DH being away. I wouldnt have wanted to attempt putting up the cot on my own either!

DP is still out atm, ive just got home from my mums where I spent the day and was putting some washing away that was dry, while folding a pair of socks together my hand slipped and I punched myself in the boob, OMG it hurt! My nipple is really sore now

My gran gave me a toy elephant she won in the raffle, its got stripes all over it in really bright colours so Im sure Dylan will like it, bless! Its currently sitting next to me in bed where DP should be haha!

kkfairybrains · 10/04/2010 00:13

hey everyone! my first chance to check mn all day! was very busy with hair today thank god! first busy day in a while so hopefully its a sign things are picking up again! finished at half 8 and then friends were here all evening and just left now so just crawled into bed. sciatica very painfull this eve after my busy day though.at one stage i couldnt sit on my bum on the right side. also nearly fainted again this morn! but apart from that had loads of energy today and was well otherwise!
dh mine is stil an inny too and dp is the same as yours tellin me its gonna pop out! i dont think it will though as have quite a deep belly button(for which my dad gives himself the credit for for doing such a great job on cutting my cord!lol).and memphis im intrigued my the description of ur belly button(or lack of!).would love to see a pic if you're brave enough to post a pic of your bump on your profile?!also that ignorant woman what was she thinking coming out with a statement like that?!some people.....
kapars poor you with the infection.they're the most horrible fristrating thing ever.used to suffer very bad with them but haven't had one since being preg thank god.loads of water and cranberry juice.and they tell you not to drink it but i found tea brilliant! cos you always really need to wee after drinking tea and that used to feel like relief for me!
mlic hope ds has improved since this morn.you'd feel so sorry for them when they're sick! also interesting about the baby bjorn.gonna try and look into getting one of them! although think dp is just so impressed with the ones that have all the extras but i'l pass on this info and see what he says!
stac the dressing gown sounds so adorable!
