becky take them to mcd's for lunch or do you have one of those indoor play areas near you? Thier good as you can put them in and sit reading a magazine, also gets rid of excess energy. Or do girly stuff if you have old make up, let them give each other make overs, you may get roped in too lol x

beckyg123 · 06/04/2010 11:52

Thanks girls- Cinema out so is play centre as all costs money i don't have lol!!! should have mentioned that.
Old make up is coming out! thanks stac will look like a clown soon but sure it will be great fun going to take them to tesco now for lunch stuff- i don't even have bread in the house! will see if i can get junior pictionary or something like that too!

stac14 · 06/04/2010 12:17

If you have paper/pens/scissors/glue/etc laying around the house then how about getting them to make a 'Get Well Soon' card/poster for your SIL?

If you don't have the things for drawing, but have a pile of old magazines, they could cut out nice pictures from the magazines to stick on instead.

Spirael · 06/04/2010 12:39

Oh, alternatively, if you're playing with makeup anyway and you have a digital camera, why not let them loose with doing a 'photo shoot' once the makeup is done?

Then you can download the pics to the PC and print off the best ones for them to take home. Or email them over for their parents to print at their pleasure.

kkfairybrains · 06/04/2010 12:43

stac thats gorgeous i love it! go for it i say!

violetbubbles · 06/04/2010 12:47

becky - I used to love making chocolate corn flake cakes when I was about that age. You can stick some mini eggs on top to make it seem more like an Easter activity

Here's a link to a cheap and easy recipe (I'd recommend substituting the dark chocolate for milk chocolate though...or for 4x Mars bars - v yummy).

I've got my first physio appointment today at 2pm so need to rush off...must leave enough time to find a parking space at the Southern General!

stac14 · 06/04/2010 13:10

thanks kk dp defo wants to go for it, and it goes really well with his surname, sounds quite irish which gives it a nicer ring

violet hope your physio goes well, the southern is a nightmare for parking. Let us know how you get on?

spireal and violet they are fab ideas for rainy days, I should store them up for when lo's older

I have been getting pains downstairs when moving, anyone the same? xxx

becky i just had to walk past that thumper blanket i love it so much i think that will go into next weeks shopping, i got a baby grow and bib with the very hungry caterpillar on it i loved that book when i was little! out asda doesnt do maternity clothes but i find no one has anything nice at the mo for maternity unless you want to pay a fortune! i have a brother and sister who are 3 and 10 and when i have them i get this baking kits with the cartoon sugar paper toppers they are about a pound and i get them mixing it all themselves, and keeps them quiet less mess than measuring out flour for them!
spireal a week off together sounds brilliant to get the baby room done!

violetbubbles · 06/04/2010 15:58

Physio went well. The official name for my condition is Unilateral Extended Sacrum. I have tried to Google it but there seems to be very little in the way of a layman's explanation. Anyone have any experience of this? I've to go back for more treatment and invest in one of these attractive pillows. .

Stac14 - I couldn't believe it - I just drove right into a parking space! First time this has happened at the Southern! I have also been getting some new aches and pains this week. Feels a bit like the Round Ligament Pain we felt at about 16 weeks...is that the kind of pain you're talking about?

stac14 · 06/04/2010 16:23

violet the only way I can describe it is by saying its like I have hurt downstairs and the ache you would feel afterwards, dont seem to be feeling much stretching pains at the moment. Tends to be sore when I walk a lot or when I move like getting up etc, i googled it and it seems to be part of the spd so may need to ask the physio for advice. Bet your looking forward to that cushion lol, bet it helps loads though xx

OP posts:
memphis83 · 06/04/2010 17:05

stac that pain sounds like what i went physio for they said its part of the SPD they told me pelvic floor exercises and to be careful getting up like swinging legs out of car or bed together, always forget to do that one, then when i swing leg out of car and get a rush of pain i remember.... bit late by then though lol!! your pics are great i still need to get an album! love the one picking her nose i have one like that 2 it must be interesting for them that they can get a finger in there or somethin

has anybody bought a body or bump pillow to get comfy with at night? looking at getting one but not sure if i would be better with a long pillow or a wedge?

stac14 · 06/04/2010 17:18

memhis I have the dreamgenii from mothercare which I love and use every night

Thanks, love these pics think she looks more baby like if that makes sense lol. If its the spd then I am better looking at the info I got from physio, thanks hun

Memphis the Dreamgenii is really great. I also have one of those v shaped pillows from my previous pregnancy. But Dreamgenii really sorts me out

Jojobil · 06/04/2010 17:24

stac I also have spd. Sometimes I feel like someone hit me between the legs with a bat at some point. It's a hollow pain... Sometimes my right bum hurts. But yoga really helps

stac14 · 06/04/2010 17:34

jojo is it you that got the pregnancy yoga dvd online? x

OP posts:
stac14 · 06/04/2010 19:03

hey ladies, i posted a thread on mn asking what people thought of rilliegh and it was a resounding NO! Back to the drawing board me thinks lol x

OP posts:
Jojobil · 06/04/2010 19:22

Stac yes it was me with the dvd

But surely it's about you liking it? I think Rilliegh is nice. Would not be my first choice - but there is nothing wrong with it! Everyone likes something different... Otherwise every girl would be called Ellie, Maya or Katie and boy Jamie, Ben or Ollie!!!

kittykat77 · 06/04/2010 19:35

Hi everyone. Haven't posted in ages! Everything seems to be so busy at the moment.

Have been doing lots of decorating over the Easter weekend. Baby's room is all painted, and also did DD's and DS's rooms while we were at it . I am sooo tired now though! Feel like I could do with a week off to recover!

Stac - I wouldn't worry with the names. As Jo said, if everyone liked the same names then all the babies would be called the same thing! This is why we are not discussing names with anyone before the birth - it's hard enough picking names that both DH and I like - never mind asking anyone else their opinion! Speaking of which - we still haven't completely agreed on a name!

Hope everyone else is well.

memphis83 · 06/04/2010 20:18

stac i agree with kitty it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks your baby your choice i think its lovely, very unusual, i think people go for very safe names at the moment as to not offend others, my original list of final 4 names 90% of people hated all of them, thanks to you and jojo for advice on the pillow i will go and order one!

Jojobil · 06/04/2010 20:23

stac the dvd I got on amazon is pregnancy yoga with tara lee - it's good

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/04/2010 20:32

stac I just read the first page of that thread you started about the baby name, I think they were being a bit harsh, I actually really like the name!

I also have the dream genii from mothercare, DP's dad+partner bought it for me and I use it nearly every night it makes such a difference, it stops me rolling on my back which is what my body wants to do all the time when I sleep!

memphis83 · 06/04/2010 20:33

ooh and just to add on my last post, ive just looked at a review online for the dream genie pillow and a woman had to stop using it as it gave her orgasms in her sleep when her dreams got a bit raunchy! lol
