hi, everyone, i am 36 weeks already, so really close now, everything ready but for a couple of details, just waiting around now, i even had the letter from the health visitor to come visit, scary...

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/04/2010 19:06

stac yeah I love playing with all the little bits it comes with, theres a tray just under the handle where I can put drinks and keys etc for me

becky Im def glad its so tiny, feel sorry for the people having to push out 9/10lb babies!

Hello alle not long to go now for you then! Is this your first?

alle01 · 02/04/2010 19:12

yes, first baby, a boy apparently

stac14 · 02/04/2010 19:27

dh my first was 10lb 6 so i'm hoping smaller lol, i dont know bout those bits i'm just thinking bout my cosytoes and how cute it will all look

Hi alle you must be so excited, cant wait till i'm that close. You all organised?x

OP posts:
alle01 · 02/04/2010 19:35

yeah, all done, cot, bath, clothes, even the hospital bag,...
i don't really know yet, my baby seems small, the 34 wk scan estimates 2.2 kg, but ii don't have much of a bum, everybody seems bigger than me at this stage

memphis83 · 02/04/2010 19:39

stac its crazy that people would change their cars to get a car seat to fit, i love my car my dh just wants to get something bigger as with pushchair baby and dog there wont be room for anything else when we go away next year, i remind him ive had my car longer than ive had him in my life lol! he wants an estate but he can get stuffed i wouldnt be able to drive something like that there is nothing i hate more than women with big cars who cant park them!!
had strange experience today showed MIL 3d scan and baby cothes and she didnt seem bothered at all by them then went to FIL and showed him the same and he was like a kid at xmas so excited and watched my bum move in awe really found it odd, dh's family apart from his dad dont seem bothered no matter how involved i try and make them!

alle01 · 02/04/2010 19:50

what is it with men and changing cars again? i think baby is just a great excuse to buy a new one,
memph don't worry about what other people tink, the important thing is that you and the dad really want this baby

kkfairybrains · 02/04/2010 20:13

memphis i know exactly how you feel. dps family never even comment about the baby except his little sister. feels a bit disheartening especially when my family and everyone else is so excited. but supposedly the mother does be talking about it to other people and she is excited . oh well who cares we'r excited and thats all that matters!
dh yeah that little tray thing is so cool! does yours have a flip up lid in the middle of it? brill idea for putting phone and keys so you dont have to go rooting in bags!
jojo forgot to say earlier thats awful about dd piggy bank. nothing gets my blood boiling more than a thief.well thiefs and liars.the same thing happened to me a few years back i was saving all my tips to but a good hairdressing scissors and a "friend" helped herself to it one day.didnt find out for ages who it was until i caught her robbing from me again and realised it was her that time too.needless to say she's no longer a friend. your poor dd though its so horrible

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/04/2010 20:57

stac yeah that is quite a large baby, hopefully this one will be smaller for you lol.

kk yeah it has the flip up lid in the middle! Ooooh I love it all and cant wait to use it. I was wheeling it round the flat earlier haha!

Also just upgraded my mobile online, Im getting the Palm Pre and really excited about it

alle Im having a boy too talking about changing cars, DP wanted to as well cos our pram doesnt fit in the boot, even without his sub in it so we will have to put it on the backseat which is a PITA but ill make that sacrifice cos i love the pram!

Jojobil · 02/04/2010 21:11

Thank you I feel better now and DD did not notice really... It's just coins to her as she is only 5. Still horrid to steal especially from a kid!

I need to go and get a mattress soon as my friend is visiting with her 4 month old from Canada in 4 weeks.. I'm getting a cot from a friend.. It just means I will have things a little early I'm also getting the maxicosi after another friend. So that sorts us out nicely.

stac14 · 02/04/2010 21:29

alle don't worry bout that they told me ds was only 7lb 7 and he was 10lb 6.

dh me too lol. What kind of car do you have?

memphis i don't want to get a new car either. Dp's family are the same, to be honest i think its cos they have spoilt dps son and didnt expect any other grankids, tbh i'm not bothered, their loss lol

Your having a busy time of it jojo do you have everything else sorted? X

OP posts:
Jojobil · 02/04/2010 21:52

Pretty much stac I'll pop in to John Lewis next week Getting lots of the stuff How about you?

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/04/2010 22:31

stac our car is a Seat Ibiza Cupra 3 door hatchback so really going to be a struggle getting car seat/pram in and out

jojo you reminded me I need to start looking into mattresses soon, we are picking the cot up from DP's sister 2mo instead now so will be cleaning that up and putting it up.

I got a £10 gift voucher from babies r us today for buying the travel system so will be going back there and getting something, could put it towards a mattress!

stac14 · 02/04/2010 23:19

jojo its a nightmare as loads of people have offered to buy stuff for us, so think i need to set up a cut off date for when i need it in, not that im ungrateful, just makes me feel really disorganised.

dh did you join their baby club? I love their i love bears range so cute, thats the moses basket and cot bed set. x

OP posts:
kkfairybrains · 03/04/2010 00:27

same as that stac people have said they're buying things but kind of want to have everything before baby comes just to know if im going to have to buy anything myself. dps friend rang him the other day and said he has a changing table to give to us with the bath and all built in and it was barely ever used so delighted with that!
dh i have a 3 door car as well.an audi a3 and the pram fits in the boot but nothing else will fit in with it! bit of a pita when i have to bring my hairdressing gear with me too when im coming to my mums as i have clients down here too. if i can sell mine i will but if i dont its not the end of the world cos dp always has a 5 door but he's always buying and selling cars so wish he would just settle with one!
just back from cinema with mum! we went to see remember me.very good and robert pattinson is just yummy!

memphis83 · 03/04/2010 08:14

what a relief that other dh's families are the same, its their loss, we have my family and his dad and friends so im not bothered about his mum and sister too much it just seems odd to me! it will probably be her last grandchild and 1st grandson!
stac totally agree with you on people buying stuff, as i want it all bought soon! my dad bought us a gliding crib rather than a moses basket as it will last longer i know he has it but i want it here now!!
had an accident last night i came out of bathroom and forgot how big i had got and metal catch on door scraped across stomach it hurt so much i jumped, pushed the door it hit my foot and rebounded back into belly with a bang, my belly button is bruised and got 2 big scratches it hurt so much i nearly fainted, my dh has told me im too clumsy as i do something everyday but this really shook me up, LO is still moving a lot though!

violetbubbles · 03/04/2010 08:34

Well, after attending my first NHS antenatal classes the other night I am so glad that I have signed up for a hypnobirthing course because it will give me a more balanced approach to birthing. The midwives at the antenatal class were both really nice and the other people in the class were lovely too but I'm just not happy with the content of the classes for the next 5 weeks. There seems to be too much focus on pain relief & equipment; & what happens when things go wrong I know it's important that we're prepared and if I need it I will definitely be taking the pain relief and begging for intervention....that said, I was disappointed that there was very little (if any) chat about the power of our own bodies and minds to deliver our babies naturally. It was as if it was a given that we'd all be in excrutiating pain...but it would be worth it in the end. Perhaps I'm being naive but I'd quite like the birth to be at least in some way enjoyable....hopefully hypnobirthing will teach me some useful techniques to help make this possible

kapars kkfairybrain Stac Becky- My hypnobirthing classes begin in May and I'll definitely share anything with you that I think you might benefit from. Flexab - looking forward to hearing how you get on in your classes!

memphis83 Just reading that book by Marie Mognan is making me feel more confident about the birth so I'm sure the classes will be great! Glad to hear you're enjoying the CDs. I get the CDs as part of my course fee so holding off on buying them until my first class.

I just keep telling myself that my body has been built with childbirth in mind and so it should be even more natural for my body to birth than to sit at a computer all day. (i've also been inspired by Eddie Izzard and his 'mind over matter' approach to marathon running - but I digress

violetbubbles · 03/04/2010 08:40

Time for a TMI post I think - sorry - this time about discharge...

So, I'm now 27 weeks and over the past week my discharge has changed from being that little bit creamy and gooey to being completely clear. There's not lots gushing out or anything (again, sorry, TMI)...but i can definitely feel that it's 'wetter' than before. Should I be worried? Is anyone else experiencing this? I don't want to start obsessing about every little thing but I would totally appreciate any advice you might have.
Thanks x

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/04/2010 09:15

stac yeah the lady at the till gave me a leaftlet about their mother and baby club and when I got home to join I realised Id already joined it lol.

kk I think what Im planning to do as I drive the car during the week as DP has a work van Im going to put the car seat on the passenger seat (obv with airbag off) also its also rear facing so if he was in the back I wouldnt be able to see him.

stac14 · 03/04/2010 10:13

Morning ladies

kk and memphis i am lucky on the basis i can pick all the stuff but we are thinking we need to say when we need the stuff for cos if i get a section then i'l be early

memphis pregnancy is making you clumsy as your centre of gravity is shifting, so don't blame yourself. I've looked drunk at times lol

violet that would be great if you can pass on info, were are your classes? Re: discharge mine has changed a few times during pregnancy, at times i did feel it was gushing. When i read about it, its apparantly normal unless its a dodgy colour like brown, yellow etc

dh think its a good thing if you will buy lots of stuff from there, we used to buy lots of toys for the boys so no doubt it will be the same for lo. Also getting cot bed from there so hoping they have a discount on that

How is everyone else? I have my 2nd gender scan today then taking the boys shopping for new trainers. Its starting to brighten up, but probably freezing lol

OP posts:
kkfairybrains · 03/04/2010 10:50

aw enjoy seeing LO again stac! very jealous as dont think i'l be seeing mine again til july!
violet that info wil be great looking forward to it!although im a wimp and dont think i'l be doing it without pain relief!the midwife from the ante natal classes rang me at half 9 last night while i was at the cinema!funny time to be ringing! anyway we start 10th june for 4 consecutive thursdays.
had another broken nights sleep last night, courtesy of a drunken phone call at half 3 from dp in manchester! was fit to kill him!.no plans as such today.have to go get some red nail varnish and red lippy for my outfit for tonight! such a novelty getting dolled up when your not used to goin out!hope everyone keeping good today!xx

beckyg123 · 03/04/2010 11:08

Morning.

violet thanks for the info on birthing- i think i have a similar attitude about the birth (keeping an open mind about pain relief but would love to think i could be strong enough mentally to manage without too much!) I'm sure the birth will require a lot of mind over matter thinking! Maybe this is just first time mum thinking!!!
My discharge has also changed a few times, i really do need to wear panty liner most of the time now as can get pretty heavy!

We will definately not be changing car anytime soon! I just paid it off last month so would like a couple of years payment free!!! Thanks stac will go into pram centre this week, would like to get it sorted and another thing ticked off the list!

Off to my cousin's little boys 4th birthday party- its up in fife so better get my skates on Got him a bubble machine and now want to keep it for myself! lol!
