i'v read a few thing about hypnobirthing violet, mainly on here but dont have a clue what it entails or anything so would love a bit of inside knowledge on it just to know if its something that might interest me!good luck with the ante-natal class! that reminds me i rang last week to book mine and they never rang me back about it

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/04/2010 17:08

Can someone clear something up for me. How is everyone counting their months. For example Im just over 24 weeks, does this mean im 6 months? I dont think of myself as 6 months until the 18th April as thats when it'll be exactly 3 months to go til my due date IYSWIM.

Just wondered how other people were counting it.

memphis83 · 01/04/2010 17:15

violet ive bought hypnobirthing cd's as the course is quite a drive away the pregnancy relaxation one is brilliant not that i have stayed awake til the end, but apparently info still registers b4 i got that i wasnt sleeping at all and i was very negative about pregnancy but now im loving it and sleeping a lot!!

Evening ladies, haven't posted for a while due to various things going on but have been lurking! This post moves so quickly! We had an offer accepted on a house in last fortnight so all being well we'll be moving when I'm 35 weeks pregnant - yikes, that will be fun.

VioletBubbles I am doing a 4 week hypnobirthing course with DH which starts next Weds eve and cannot wait. I've always been v freaked by birth, couldn't used to look at pregnant bellies so surprisingly chilled in my first pregnancy but don't want to flip as soon as contractions start! I'll let you know how it goes. Annoyingly my last lesson clashes with my first NHS antenatal class (got the letter yesterday) so need to see what I can do about that after the bank hol.

Enjoy Easter everyone, so glad to have 4 days off - hurrah - day time naps ahoy...

Becky big sigh of relief for you, take it easy.

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/04/2010 09:32

Morning all, still having trouble with the whole travel system business, I was told graco isnt the best make now as they have alot of probs apparently so DP and I are going to take a trip to toys r us and have a look at what they have instore and also maybe get a member of staff to recommend whats good etc.

Also the pram I want is 15kg and apparently thats really heavy, I didnt know how heavy that was in comparison to anything but my friends pram is 9kg and she said thats heavy enough.

Oh hells bells this pram lark is such a faff!

mlic thanks for the advice on the big stores. I really only want to go there to see a physical pram! Also just have a general look to see what they have in there.
Maybe I wont ask the staff for advice, ill go to a smaller shop for that but really this trip is just to give me an idea of styles and weights of different prams so when Im looking online I can think "oh yeah pram x was that weight" etc.

Thanks for the advice though

stac14 · 02/04/2010 11:35

dh mind make sure the car seat will fit, my car doesnt have isofix and apparantly quite short seatbelts (ford focus 2001) so we had two choices maxicosi cabrio or gracco first plus with bases. We went for maxicosi but i didnt want thier travel system so went for a silver cross 3d, very light and folds great. But obviously it increased my price. Soz to waffle on but it was a pain trying to get a seat to fit. Also got far more attention in the independant retailer.

mlic your so right i keep saying it in weeks but when i got to 5months i felt cheated as my weeks were closer to 6months. Oh well baby will be here when she comes eh?

Lovely sunny day here, ds has went out with friends so i am abandoned lol. Going to hang a washing out and then not sure. Anyone else up to much? X

Hello! Happy Easter!

Yes I am 27 weeks on Tuesday! When I think that it is just 13 weeks to due date or 11 weeks if I have an elective it really does not feel like a lot!

Really gutted today as someone took £ 20 from my DD piggy bank! She is getting pocket money every friday and was saving for a Wii... I noticed this week that it was very light and decided to count it again. Last time we counted a month ago... We only had 3 people around. Her bedroom is upstairs so it narrows down the potential person a lot.... Anyway of course we will not go accusing anyone. But it is awful.

I hope you girls have a better start to the bank holiday!!!

Happy Easter Weekend!
That's crap jojobil about the money.

My DH is working most of the weekend which is rubbish but I have just got myself into a frenzy of happy excitement reading through posts of what to pack for hospital and made myself a list.

Going pram shopping tomorrow with DH when he gets back from work in the morning so very excited about that.

Hooray! Not long now.

stac14 · 02/04/2010 13:14

can you believe how fast its going in? I am 25wks so like you jojo its 15wks or 13 if i have cs. Omg need to check my lists lol

jojo i hate that too, especially as its dd's money. Best put the bank out of the way in case they try it again. As you say its hard as you dont want to accuse anyone, buggers!

kapars thats the one list i havent wrote lol will need to start looking at it.

Do you need to take nappies into hospital? When i had ds they were supplied. Im thinking i'l take my own, whats everyone else thinking? X

OP posts:
kapars · 02/04/2010 13:21

I am 26 weeks today.

Yes you need nappies although it might depend on the hospital.
Here is the thread I was reading - it's got great advice on it so I have made my list up from taking everything out of these lists.
I had no idea you need all this stuff!

hey everyone! 27 weeks today here! only 13 to go! think i'm in 3rd trimester now am i right??? cant believe how quickly its going! my friend was saying yesterday how it seems so little time but then she's counting my weeks on her calender(she's very excited) and she says how it seems so far away too cos we have the whole of april, may and june to go! she was also saying that she does be saying to people at work that she hopes she's around when i go into labour and dp gets real queasy and faint and he wont be able to stay in and she'l be able to come in then! and she'l make me so thick and mad that i'l have pushed the baby out in no time! lol!
well its horrible here today! wet and windy! dp left at 4 o clock this morn to go to manchester for the weekend for the man u v chelsea game.that was my christmas present to him and he was like a big child all excited goin off! brought extra cash to buy loads of man u baby stuff so i guess i'm gonna have a man u baby! lol!have few appointments today and then im going down to my mums for the weekend and going for meal and drinks tomorrow night with a few friends for my birthday!
whats everyone else up to for the weekend? xx

memphis83 · 02/04/2010 16:29

stac yes i just put hypnobirthing into ebay, or try natel hypnotherapy. i agree to look at carseats as i have a 2001 fiesta so ive ordered the maxicosy baseso that car seats fit as i have same problem with short seatbelts, i cant bear the thought of parting with my fiesta everytime dh talks about getting a bigger car i change the subject
jojo that is awful about the money box it makes me angry just reading it!
its been awful weather here, got the bouncing chair this morning, and the free changing bag from boots for joining the parenting club, im going to take this into hospital rather than the expensive one i bought to match pram! then i will keep essentials in it at my mums to save me carrying so much to hers when she babysits!
i made mistake of having a filter coffee at 10 last night after dh took me for a meal, caffine really effects me and LO kicked like mad til 3.30am so coffee is off the menu until july!!!

beckyg123 · 02/04/2010 17:14

Hey girls, thank you so much for all your thoughts! feels strange when we have never met to be able to share so much! thanks
I'm feeling loads better, cramps have calmed down and bleeding all stopped now! what a relief! Had lots of rest yesterday and took it pretty easy today- DH and i went to but paint of baby's room and MIL has offered to decorate next week. B&Q have buy 1 get 1 free on dulux paint just now! so not too expensive! We also popped into toys r us and got the bear wall stickers- going to do something arty with these and canvases once room is finished i think!

Been reading with interest the posts about hypnobirthing- thanks violet -will be really interested to hear how you get on with the classes. I have been considering getting cd to put on my ipod- someone mentioned doing that a few weeks ago!

violet can't believe you hve dates for antenatal already- it's really getting close now!

regarding the car seats- where do you find out if you car is suitable or not? I need to get maxicosi cabrio for pram but now dreading the fact it might not suit car (i have a renault clio, 2002). AGH! never asked about it in pram shop as it was more expensive in there than in other places!

jojo a similar thing happened to us before we got married- i had one of those tins you can't get into to save for my wedding dress- someone stole the tin from a shelf in the livingroom- it was awful and i hated the fact i mentally accused every one of our friends and family! I never mentioned it to anyone but was so upset about lack of trust! our money banks are never on show anymore. makes me sick thinking about it!

memphis lol about the coffee, although i'm sure you weren't at 3 this morning!

MLIC thanks for the tips on feeding, will go have a look. I'm clueless about it but hoping it won't be an issue if BF works for me! Will the camcorder be going with you to the birth? I'm not sure how i feel about that one although sure DH would love it!

KK is it your birthday tomorrow? Have a great time with your friends

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/04/2010 17:28

I bought the graco travel system today! We've spent the last hour putting the wheels on the pram and checking all the bits fit where they should.

The car seat and base both fit in our car as a lady in babies r us kindly came out and fitted it for us before we bought it so we knew it would fit.

I cant believe Im going to have a tiny baby that will fit in this car seat and pram its amazing!

beckyg123 · 02/04/2010 18:01

Sounds like you've had a productive day DH It is amazing to think that in a few months we will have our babies- i do get quite overwhelmed about how small everything is! but then when you think about how its going to come into the world and the space it has to fit through i'm quite glad its so tiny
