Our friends live on a farm near Ellon in Aberdeenshire, they are dd's godparents, but we haven't seen them for a really long time - going to meet their son for the first time - he is 15months. We are getting the train to Edinburgh, grabbing dinner with some mates there then hiring a car for the final leg. Last time we drove, and I'm hoping the train will be easier, flying is just so expensive, wish they would move back down south.

Ohh forgot to say my db gave me his old Maclaren Triumph buggy - it is fab, and hardly worn because he only sees his kids alternate weekends and really isn't much of a walker! I so much nicer than the Mothercare buggy I've been carting around daily for the last 18months (was al Aulto, but they don't do it anymore), lighter, smoother, better handle height, and shoulder strap will be so much easier on public transport - wish I'd brought one originally. Do not think of buying a buggy you may have to fold and carry if it doesn't have a shoudler strap - don't know what I was thinking getting the mothercare one, think I thought I would be different, but there is a really good reason why everyone gets a maclaren

mlic you could try a nice head piece and leave your hair straight or whatever way you would normally wear it if you cant get hat to match. their not the expensive things they used to be and theres some lovely ones around.
had a busy day today! went for a look around the shops with mum and got myself 4 new tops in h&m. 2 vest tops and a long sleeve and a baggy t shirt.few nice bits in the maternity which was a bonus as last time i went the selection was very poor. also went looking at sofas and absolutely fell in love with one! cant stop thinking about it as i hate the one we have.looks nice but not at all comfy and this one you just sink into it! just need to find 1600 euro now and its mine!lol! done mums hair then tonight and gave her completely new style and its gorgeous! cant wait to get my own done now!

stac14 · 29/03/2010 10:33

stac thats what I was saying, usually every year I wish for a hot summer and the one year I would quite like it to be cooler they say its going to be really hot!

MIL has agreed to completely pay for our travel system which we weren't expecting but is really nice of her.
She said she bought DP's sister one for her baby, hers cost £800

Noticed this morning I have stretch marks on my other thigh/bum now! At least I can cover them up with underwear/swimsuit!

beckyg123 · 29/03/2010 13:14

Hiya, i'm off to meet with personnel at work this afternoon to sort out mat leave plans. I'm going to stop on 27th May (just less than 6 weeks before EDD), i'm exhausted at work and was looking forward to some nice weather in june to sit out in!
Although everyone keeps telling me i'll be bored and wont want to be outside if its hot but i'm afraid i'm not listening to them- i can think of so much to do in and around the house to get organised!
I really don't think i'll get bored but am happy to be proven wrong! lol!
I just think i'll never have time like this thats just for me for at least the next 18 years!!!
Anyone else sorted mat leave dates yet?

KK i love looking at new sofas but there is absolutely nothing wrong with ours- they always look and feel so amazing in the shops tho!!!

Oh, wonder have a great time! 2 of my old flatmates from uni were from Ellon so been there a few times, lovely! Good luck with the journey- its a long one!!!

DH thats great about the travel system- mu MIL is paying for most of ours too- its lovely to get help like that isn't it!
LOL at the stretchmarks- i've also had a few since puberty but keep getting shocked when i find new ones! Round my boobs are getting a few.

Talking about boobs- does anyone else feel like theirs won't stop growing? i've just about outgrown the bra i got a few weeks ago that was left with room to grow!!! thats a 36G- how big do they go??? Also my nipples are massive!!! noticed in mirror when getting out the shower earlier WOW- they are like saucers!!!

its a rainy day here today and i have a feeling that leg cramps i have heard so much about have started! but no stretch marks yet, hoping the will bypass me, but i drink so much fluid and i use so much cream, oil and bath oils that if i do get them at least i know i have done my best to keep them at bay!
stac ive been looking for an album for my scan pics and ones of my growing bump, we now hace over 20 scan pics so i want to keep them safe, mamas and papas did one but its out of stock, but i did get a lovely memory book from there that is the made with love range its got so many lovely touches to it!

on friday i will be 26 weeks! its going so quick, my friend is a week overdue and was going for a sweep today i was telling her to go for a jog, curry, sex and eat pineapple to get her going to avoid it and her contractions started an hour b4 her sweep app!!so something she did worked!

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/03/2010 17:18

becky yeah it is really nice getting help I dont think we'd be able to do it on our own, we're not in the best financial situation to have a baby really!
Yeah I am now checking for stretch marks all the time and Im actually quite fascinated by them as Ive never had them before so I cant stop looking at them!

I think my boobs have gone up one size but they arent all that impressive, they weren't before either, unless they are waiting til the baby is born and they suddenly balloon!

memphis good luck to your friend!!

Wonderstuff · 29/03/2010 17:33

Hi all, chucking it down in Hampshire too. Not too bad a day at work though - one of my poor boys was sick which did make me feel ill and I really hope I haven't caught anything - poor boy had a great day and has a reward lesson last thing, but got sick just as he'd done all the things to get the reward! Keeping everything cross I don't catch anything!

Poor dd is shattered and fell asleep on the way home - just about to try and wake her up again, tried 20 mins ago and she just looked at me then closed her eyes again - poor poppet was in tears at tea when I picked her up because she wasn't allowed to cuddle her teddy while she ate her crumpets - normally she wouldn't be worried about teddy at all, shes just proper shattered. I went over to her and she said 'mummy my eyes are wet' bless.

My back is aching again today - I'm really worried about it getting worse in a few weeks, at the moment I am fine if I don't spend long sat down, tricky to avoid at work really. I remember the final days of my last pregnancy just not being able to get comfy and pacing around. I must have about 10 weeks to go until I go on mat leave? 3 of those are holiday weeks so shouldn't be too bad. Don't know how I'm going to entertain myself on mat leave - will have the 3 days I normally work to myself - had images of knitting and watching West Wing on DVD - but of course those are sitting down things, maybe if I do them bouncing on my exercise ball my back will be OK?

Anyho - DD has to wake up now or we'll both be up late and grotty tomorrow morning..

fab news dh21 my aunt paid for ours too its a great saving, mil is buying the cotbed, lots of generous offers as its been 11 years since I was last pg lol

becky My boobs have gotten totally huge too, I am usually a 36F which I am bursting out of, I bought a couple of non wired as I dont particularly like nursing.mat bras either but think I will need them especially after lo arrives due to the milk

memphis Its just a normal photo album I bought as all the keepsake ones only had room for a scan so I will kepp one for my book and add that when I buy one, we have about 13 photos just now and will get more on saturday but we're not going to go for 3d, think the nhs may scan me later to see babies size anyway

wonder defo fingers crossed you dont catch anything, the poor wee boy that was sick though, he must be gutted he didnt get his reward. if your comfy on your ball then you should use it hun

Last night of ds's show in school, so while its on I am going to visit friends dp was supposed to come but is now whinging, he really can be a pain in the ass or is it my hormones lmao hope alls well xx

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/03/2010 18:42

stac yeah a friend of my sister has dropped 2 bags of clothes/ blankets off at her house so am going there on Wed to pick them up.

Forgot to say earlier, I was in bhs earlier buying some non underwired bras (2 for £10, v good fit too) and the lady who served me at the till commented on how neat my bump is (which is fine) then went on to ask when I was due so told her and she looked shocked and said "your so tiny" I was a bit like oh...
I thought I had a good sized bump for 24 weeks, I was slim before so I wasnt expecting to be a beached whale straight away but thought I was progressing nicely and she goes and says im tiny. Dont know why but this just really annoyed me. Ive waited so long to have a noticable bump and now Im told its small!

viksam · 29/03/2010 19:02

Hi Ladies,
I havent had time to catch up properly but i need some quick opinions if you all wouldnt mind.......I really want to take DH on holiday to the sun and we have a week off from the 11th April. I will be 27 weeks that week. Firstly, do you think its ok to fly, and secondly any ideas where we can go sunny and not far??
Thanks guys, of to look on teletext and tinternet!! xx

Wonderstuff · 29/03/2010 19:55

Different airlines have different policies on when you can travel, but I think 27 weeks should be fine. Someone at work is going to Athens next week, is about 22 there at the moment which would suit me! Morocco is lovely and probably nice this time of year..

Wonderstuff · 29/03/2010 20:01

Actually Morroco seems not too warm - tenerife?

stac14- OMG you have got snow?? Whereabouts are you?
I agree with the summer thing-it?ll be nice to have some sun but I remember being pregnant with ds2 and having a really hot summer, it wasn?t pleasant, I wondered about in my underwear with lots of fans everywhere!

DH- wow fantastic news about your travel system, how kind of her.

Had a really lazy day yesterday after painting the porch on Saturday. We Bd?d in the evening and I sorely regretted it afterwards, I thought Id be ok as Ive had very little spd pain the last 3 weeks. Afterwards I felt like my pelvic floor was going to drop out, it was agony and had to resort to some painkillers, wont be doing that again any time soon.

This morning I got woken up at 4.15am by horrendous pain in my stomach/just below my ribs, it felt like contractions, but obviously not in the right place, got up took some more painkillers and managed to get back to bed at 5am. Hope that doesn?t happen again tonight...

Had a really odd dream the other night that I had the baby-it was a girl at 34 weeks, felt really real until I woke up and realised I was dreaming! Maybe wishful thinking as both the boys were late.

Had the pram arrive today, soooo exciting, cant stop looking at it and posted a pic on my profile Ds1 bless him has been pushing his doll (which hes taken to playing with a lot since knowing babys coming!) around the front room with his doll in it!

Working tommorrow and have got my mw appt on Wednesday so will find out how my fh is doing. Consultants have printed out a special chart individual to my height and weight and theyre apparently going to chart my progress and rescan if their concerned. Cant say it worries me too much as ime they?re not particularly reliable for estimating babys weight.

memphis83 · 29/03/2010 21:14

becky the boob thing is out of control with me 2! lol at your comment on nipples like saucers i know the feeling i hope they go back to normal size once baby is here!
vik i went on holiday at 3 months, my midwife said that between 13 and 32 weeks it was fine as long as travel insurance and airline were informed, other midwives in other areas may have other ideas but im sure they would tell you over the phone!
dh a few people told me i had a tiny or neat bump 2 and i felt like i was big but with a few months left we all have time to get big!
im looking after my half brother and sister tomorrow, my brother is 3 and has taken a fancy to spitting in past week, so im looking forward to that he thinks we should call the baby pat (as in postman) or patch!

stac14 · 29/03/2010 21:48

glaston I am in glasgow and its a bloody blizzard at the moment I cant believe it, its actually depressing . So cute ds is walking about with the pram. Why are they charting your growth?

aww how cute memphis my nephews daughter wants to call her sister rain which is a nono as her fathers surname is coates lol

dh dont worry about your bump size, so long as lo is ok then who cares. I would love a neat bump, the most I can hope for is that I dont end up huge lol

viksam lucky you getting some sun, please send some to scotland lol

mlic I'm sure you will find a house that suits you before lo comes along. I thought about my bag while in asda the other day, I suddenly thought if I went early I have bugger all sorted

Think I have been getting BH, tummys went really tight a few times. Never got them with ds but its meant to be more common in 2nd pregnancies isnt it? xx

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 29/03/2010 21:52

mlic yeah I think she was comparing me to someone else she knows as she kept mentioning another woman even though I had no idea who she was talking about seeing as this was the first time Id met this woman lol.

glastonbury yeah we really have been so lucky, Im glad im one of the last to have a baby as we're getting so many things given to us, everyone is being really generous.

memphis I have no doubt that I will get alot bigger in the coming months! Act looking forward to it

GlastonburyGoddess · 29/03/2010 22:49

Ahh its aload of poop. basically because my bmi is higher than it should be they are wanting to make sure I dont get too big.Havent put on any weight yet so far,so poo poo to whatever it says really

stac14 · 30/03/2010 00:01

i have a high bmi too, but they havent even mentioned it. Bloody cheek of them hun what difference does it make? X

stac14 · 30/03/2010 09:55

Morning all, how are you? It's still snowing, not lying yet and i'm hoping it doesn't lol. Not much to report here, dp has a sickness bug so is off work, ds is shattered but away to school and lo is kicking away quite happily lol. Anyone doing anything today? I'm stuck in the house, don't fancy facing the weather. X

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 30/03/2010 11:47

Morning, Yep! Sick of this snow! Had to go on 2 home visits this morning so just back to the office. The weather was awful and i feel really cold and shivery with red burny cheeks!
Got one hell of an appetite today! just want to munch munch munch! Might be because i went swimming last night... usually get hungry after that. Really need to get a maternity swim suit soon- mine is extremely tight now, scared the sides start ripping, could be a little embarrasing

Glad to hear i'm not the only one with explosive boobs! Think they are taking over the world!!! Not looking forward to how they react to milk coming in- will there even be a bra to fit

stac sorry to hear your DP is unwell- hope you manage to avoid it and he gets better soon.

glaston I also have high BMI and my midwife was really cheeky at 12 week appointment but hasn't mentioned since! i think they have a strange attitude and are over obsessed with weight, but then again in this country maybe they need to offer more support- the critisism i recieved was not support tho!
