Jojobil · 25/03/2010 17:25

Stac really hope your stepbrothers lo gets better!

Hope the funeral went well viksam kapars same here! I am in London, second one and it is appalling! I had a emergency c-section first time round... I am meeting my midwife for the first time tomorrow and I am close to 26 weeks.... They postponed once and the one time I met a doctor I waited 1 and a half hours I got rushed through and treated like a piece of meat...

violetbubbles · 25/03/2010 18:07

Stac - I hope your stepbrothers daughter is okay - such a horrible thing to happen - keep us posted!

Kapars - I'm in Glasgow and although the midwives are really busy they still seem to have time to discuss whatever I want to discuss with them. I have had an appointment at 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 22weeks and 25 weeks. Next one scheduled for 28 weeks. Each appointment has lasted between 10-15 minutes. I've seen three different midwives over this time and I'd be happy with any of them delivering my baby. Sorry to hear you're not having the best experience in London. Hope your next appointment is an improvement

Viksam - hope everything went ok today x

kapars · 25/03/2010 18:21

Thanks for feedback on midwives ladies. I think it really varies depending on where you are living.
They cut the 22 weeks appointments here. It is on my schedule but crossed out. So they only see you at 12, 16 and 25...then more after.
I guess it is because I am having a healthy pregnancy (touching lots of wood) this time around that it is quick.
It's just the hospital where I went for miscarriage in Cheshire (i was at my parents) told me on my next pregnancy if I was there I could go and get scanned very early on and pop in and get scanned weekly to ease my anxieties in first few weeks. But in London my Gp requested an early scan cos of previous mc and I got one at 13 weeks! So I went and paid for my own but still..
Oh well things will improve here on in I am sure. It feels like they just let you get on with it which is a bit daunting for first time mum after traumatic experiences before.
I suppose lots of questions will be answered in antenatal classes etc.. and I should just rela.

kapars · 25/03/2010 18:21

relax!

Chulita · 25/03/2010 18:53

wonderstuff sorry about the cat peeing around the place, why do they always pick when you're down to piss you off? Hope your DD sleeps longer and you get to catch up on some sleep tonight!
DD is finally over her fever which is brilliant! Only problem is she's been up for over an hour every night for the last week and I've got a stinking cold so I've been staggering around absolutely shattered. Today she was bouncing off the walls and I couldn't get the energy to do anything...and she didn't nap, of course. She's down now and I'm going to follow her soon, DH is on freaking guard duty overnight so I've got nothing to stay up for!
stac hope the LO gets better quickly.
viks hope all went well today and that your DP is managing.
kapars I was in Gloucester for DD and the MWs were brilliant. Here in Dorset I feel like I'm just rushed through and I forget to ask questions cos they don't stay long enough...it's crap tho!

Wonderstuff · 25/03/2010 20:10

Chulita hope you get a good nights sleep tonight - is so horrid when you are both tired.

MW's here are busy but have time iyswim - I am always waiting ages for appts, but they do have time to listen when you finally get to see them. There is one who is rubbish at paperwork who was my community mw last time and did my booking in this time - v. ditzy and I know her life story now, but much rather that than feel really rushed. When I was at hospital after having dd I did that I was a bit on my own because it was so very busy I didn't want to disturb anyone, I couldn't work out how to wrap dd up in her blanket and she kept waking up and crying and not being able to latch, and I didn't know how to change a nappy but everyone was friendly. I was 24 hours on a 4 bed ward and 6 other women went through while I was there.

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/03/2010 20:52

DP still isnt home he said he'd let me know when he dropped his colleague off on the way home which is 45 mins away from here, so when I do hear from him he'll still be 45 mins away but expected to hear from him by now.

stac14 · 25/03/2010 20:56

hi ladies thanks for all your kind words. They are waiting for a scan to see how bad it is and how she may be affected, but shes feeding and they have held her so its looking better than it was.

wonder soz your cats still peeing on your sofa, maybe spray with citrus oil, diluted of course. She may be returning cos her scents still there (not suggesting you've not cleaned it properly) as my dog did it at certain spots in our house and only stopped when we deep shampoo'd the carpet

Just wanted to remind anyone who has a 25wk app coming up or if its been see your gp to get the form for the health in pregnancy grant, everyones entitled and its £190. You have to get your health professional to sign the form to prove you have been going to apps. Also if you have tax credit or are on benefits you can apply for a maternity grant which is worth £500. Soz long post again lol

chulita hope you get a good nights sleep hun x

viksam · 25/03/2010 21:16

Hi Guys,
Thanks so much for the thoughts. Today was ok, my DH was brilliant, he did his ulegy so well, how he held it together i really dont know, he fell apart afterwards though, to be expected. His waister of a drunk brother had a fit before the funeral and ended up in the hospital, where he is still now. Thing is, he is from brum and atm he is in exeter hospital and has no money and no way of getting home. DH doesnt want anything to do with him as he really is scum but DH's mom (who is also in brum)is so worried and i bet we will end up having to get involved, its so unfair on DH after the day he has had, what the hell is wrong with these people, i just dont get it!!
Sorry guys to be going on, i can see some of you have had a really hard day too, hope things calm down for us all.
xxx

GlastonburyGoddess · 25/03/2010 21:41

Chulita- lol at your orgasm dream, if only?.

memphis83- Unlucky about your car and the dog being sick, always the way. One of my cats always gets car sick, but at least shes contained in the cat carrier so it doesn?t actually go on the car! At least hes getting better though.

DesperateHousewife21 -How sweet of your neighbour. Its lovely when people do things like that isnt it, makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside!

kapars- Think care is like that country wide at the moment, the state of maternity services is appalling but no one seems to be owning up to that fact or doing anything about it. When I was on placement 2007/08 it was manic, a horrible atmosphere to learn in too as everyone was so stressed about their job and their changing roles and the fact they had no option but to go along with it. We were so busy we didn?t get proper lunch breaks, it was a sarnie on the go and a quick cuppa before clinic started. They need another 9000+midwives at least to be able to provide a ?good? service and that?s without even allowing enough for the ?one mother, one midwife campaign?.
You should ring your surgery if you want another appointment though-just because they state-we will see you at 16,22,28 wks etc etc, doesn?t mean you cant have appointments inbetween those if your feeling worried and have questions to ask. Also if you are having problems with your midwife you are well within your rights to ask to see a different one.

I had some good news yesterday, one of the animal sanctuarys I rang earlier in the week rang yesterday to say they have space for my two cats, Im taking them in tommorrow, sad but I cannot cope with the peeing everywhere and I think this is the kindest thing I can do without them or me getting over stressed.

Picked up the cot sheets from tesco today, they seem good so have popped them in the attic with the vast amount of other stuff Ive been slowly collecting!
The pram is being delivered Monday so Im taking the day off work to wait in for it-very excited! After that?s here Ive only got a few more things to get, a bath/tub, some sheets for the pram, changing bag, a breastpump+pads and the chicco rocker.

Anyone else received their tesco pack yet? Still havent heard anything, may phone them up and ask hehe Im impatient!

Also to add onto the reminder about the £190 HPG, don?t forget MATB1 too, I expect most of you would already have these, but I cancelled my 22wk appt and made for 25+2 so that I could pick up both forms at once!

GlastonburyGoddess · 25/03/2010 21:44

viksam sorry to hear about your dp brother, what a horrible situation, families eh, more hassle than theyre worth sometimes. hard too when they are siblings and share the same mother. Hope everything turns out ok.

viksam · 25/03/2010 21:58

Thanks glasto the whole situation sucks.
It will be sad to let the cats go but i believe what you have said is right, its only fair to them to get them rehomed and settled as soon as possible.
You sound mega sorted, you have made me worried now that i need to get my ass into gear! maybe we will after all this malarky is over with. The conservatory man is coming to finalise details tomorrow and hopefully give us a date for fitting, after we have given him a giant wad of money
I have my MW appointement on tuesday, and i have plenty of questions this time round so hope they have the time. Tonight i have got really painfull trapped wind, making my stomach really bloated and painfull,.......TMI alert.......I relieved my constipation last night and now i have this painfull trapped wind Rrrraaahhhhhh!!!!

stac14 · 25/03/2010 22:06

glaston i got my tesco pack two weeks ago, it was a voucher i had to take to tesco, when did you join? Send an e-mail.

viksam glad to hear dh got through today as well as could be expected. Typical you two will be expected to pick up the pieces after bil going to hospital, i take it the siezures are drink induced? I hope you simply have to put him on a bus to brum x

OP posts:
Chulita · 26/03/2010 07:44

Morning! I slept last night, only woke once to resettle DD Feel soooo much better for it.
I must hassle tesco, I joined about a month ago.
viksam I really hope your bil doesn't cause anymore issues, what a nightmare!
glaston glad someone can take the cats for you, must be a load off your mind.
right, bablet's kicking so I'd better go and give it some shreddies or something. Happy friday!

Spirael · 26/03/2010 08:46

Morning all! Tesco do seem to take a long time to process their applications to join the parent and baby club. I signed up right near the beginning of pregnancy and only finally got my pack a few weeks ago!

I also got sent a couple of letters saying they couldn't add me to the club because I was already added. Not sure whether I accidentally tried to sign up multiple times (forgetting I'd already done it!), or whether their system is just rubbish.

Anyway my welcome pack included a magazine, parental parking permit and some vouchers, including one for the Pampers Hamper. My hamper was exactly the same as other people have described... I passed the various makeup items to my Mum, since I never use such things.

Wonderstuff, regarding cats relieving themselves on soft furniture... I had problems with my boy kitty when he was young, he decided that the middle of my bed was the place to go. I tried all kinds of things, but in the end completely new sheets was the only thing that worked. I can only assume a scent about my (admittedly very old) previous sheets made him want to mark the area.

Not sure whether it'd be feasible for you to get your sofa re-covered? Or you might be able to peel off the covers and hot wash them with something really scented? Maybe get some of the 'anti-stain' fabric spray and liberally coat the cushions, so it smells different. Putting some room fragrance nearby might put kitty off too.

Alternatively, if your kitty has a favoured blanket or bed, you could put that on the sofa for a time. They won't normally use their own bed as a bathroom! Or pile any other random stuff onto the seat so that kitty doesn't have room to go for a while. Then they might head for elsewhere, hopefully the right place?

Good luck! It really is a most aggravating thing for kitties to do, and very difficult to stop! But it is possible, just keep trying different things - something is bound to work eventually!

Not much other news here... Just bumbling along with everyday life currently! Starting to feel more regular kicking which is nice, and my DH has finally felt some kicks as well. Not got my next MW appointment for a couple of weeks, after which time I can start organising a few more things and making the arrangements with my work.

Hope things are going ok with everyone else.

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/03/2010 09:40

Morning all, still not much to report here, DP didnt get home til 11 last night and didnt get to sleep til about 12:30 (that may have been my fault ) and he had to get up at half 7 to go to work so havent really seen him recently.

LO still kicking away very happily in there

Im off to see my mum today, its nice that she has Fridays off work means I get to see her regularly.

Hope everyone has a good day today

viksam · 26/03/2010 10:30

Hello,
Just a quick update, we are waiting to see if we have to go and get DH brother from the hospital now. Just waiting for the doctor to go see how he is. its a shit coz i wanted us to pop for a blow on the beach with the dog but b';;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;................................
hahahahaha ha that was the dog trying to sit on my lap while im typing!!
BUT, we have to wait to see if we are needed. The thing is DH's mom wants us to bring him back to our house and i seriously dont want to do that, i vowed he would never cross our thresh hold, but we are between anrock and a hard place as DH's mom has already had two heard attacks and she is well stressed out, so i guess we have to do what we can to cut her stress levels.........Sucks so much!!!!!!!
DH so nice that you can see ur mom.
Had the conservatory man here and paid the first installment, hope to get fitting under way by the first week in June, hope this baby comes on time or late! DH is also looking at prices to go to Paris on the eurostar!! thats quite exciting too!!
Have a good day everyone xx

Chulita · 26/03/2010 11:19

lol @ dog typing, can't spell can it?!

wonder when we can cat peeing problems we bought some stuff called Urinoff from ebay and used it wherever he'd gone. Seemed to get rid of the musty stink, might be worth a go!

I'm not hungry but I want to eat waiting for sofa to be delivered so might be boredom...

Wonderstuff · 26/03/2010 12:38

Hi all - I have a very tired dd at the moment who is refusing to take a nap (for a change) woke at 5.55 this morning which is a slight improvement, but not much - she went to bed at 8!! She is crying every time something
Thanks for continued cat advice - she knows she shouldn't be doing it and she knows where to go - she actually weed on some clothes dh had left on the sofa - seems less about the sofa, more about weeing on our clothes, both times she weed on the sofa and when she weed on our bed it was on our clothes, when we first got her many years ago she started going in our laundry basket.
