A new thread for the gabbers.

Hopefully we will find out during the course of this thread whether dear cheggers has laid a baybee or two yet!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pandora69 · 29/03/2010 17:00

Just another thing to add - by the time you are 40 weeks you get up every morning shouting 'BRING IT ON!' ready to do anything to get the baby out. And, hey - if baby arrives early and you're not ready for it - bonus! Less time being huge and fat! (Within reason of course. I'm talking days or a week here, not weeks or more.)

rollerbaby · 29/03/2010 17:19

Cokie I beat you to that today. (felt too guilty to mention, but not guilty enough to get my arse up and out of here).

Cheggers kidney infections is no joke, I ended up being off work for 3 weeks after one particularly bad episode. So you is totally in your rights to be feeble and knackered. All I keep hearing is that these ante natal classes are a load of bollocks for anything other than a group of mummy phone numbers...You are probably the only really prepared one what with your planned unzipping.

cheggers · 29/03/2010 18:20

i'm still trying to avoid the unzipping honey

spend a fair portion of the day on my hands and knees (phnarr) or face down in a deep bath - with my mask and snorkel on (much to my feller's amusement )

hanging your belly like a hammock is sposed to encourage them to turn the right way.

staring at the bottom of the bath however is extremely boring - has anyone seen any waterproof iPhone covers out there??

that being said - if i do end up with a crack at proper birth i am unprepared and have not been massaging perinatally - is that something you can cram

re: classes. mine was geared towards active birthing and being completely clueless, i did learn a lot. plus she did a bit of the breastfeeding stuff which i didn't realise might be so tricky. and i actually like the group of mummy phone numbers. great bunch of girls who are all off work at the same time, who you can be a complete baby bore around without worrying.

admittedly i've not been able to 'lunch' for that long without screaming back aches but it's still been luverly

rollerbaby · 29/03/2010 19:01

Oops sorry Cheggers was under the impression that planned was your preference...

I'm sure some perineum massage is better than none... maybe you could get mr cheggers down there pronto this evening? He might quite like it you never know.

yes mummy phone numbers are v good idea, I just know people that said hospital courses were more useful than NCT but i suspect that is down to the course leader as much as anything.

At the moment Mr Moo and I are in low level dispute about who should be there... I would quite like my mum to stick around for moral support but he feels it should be him and me. Hard to say who's right really and don't want it to be something he resents me for forever. Am I mad to insist do you think?

cheggers · 29/03/2010 20:12

no i've got a tricky breech baby. grr.

i'm prob not the right person to ask re: extra birth helpers as i wouldn't want anyone there except my bloke. he is the only person i would feel comfortable around with tits and fanny akimbo.

that said, you are the top priority - and you should do whatever makes you feel most comfortable. you're not mad to insist at all. surely he wants this to be as easy on you as poss?? and from what i've learnt the right support group can make the world of difference to getting through labour.

i can see why he would feel put out though, but it's really not his call and he'll get over it

right off to see if mr cheggers fancies giving me a massage

CurlyCasperReturns · 29/03/2010 20:56

the lovely cheggs is right moomoo it's not his call. My Mr has stepped back and said what I want I get - he'll tell me if he thinks something is unjustified, but says I can have it if I want it because it's me going through it.

I have discussed having mum there (if she can get to us on time). I've discussed it with her and she reminded me that I might not want her there when it comes to it. And we both agreed that as long as we both know that might be the case, we'll be just fine.

Nice to hear from you cheggs soz about the hossie trip. Keep hanging and I'm sure bubs will shift. Take care

I thought I was organised too early having done so much baby shopping. Then I started making a list of what we have still to get - it's long!. Yes, we have a cot, but what about sheets etc? And then there's all the tit cream, pads for nips and vag, 'sposie pants (I'm going to use old cotton comfy ones) - all the things that aren't part of the fun buying experience.

But we have still got the joy of choosing a bouncy chair thingymubob

hey ho, I will now return to the Vertbaudet catalogue - full of beautiful things I don't need.

SilverSky · 29/03/2010 22:22

Mrs "Oh I thought my MS had disappearred - NOT" reporting in for duty.

Felt pig sick all effing day. Eating helps for about all of ten minutes. Currently sat here wondering if a caffeine free diet coke will help? Feel really hurley (not fat bloke from Lost but as in puke city) and a guy at work said his whole family has been poorly with a tummy bug. So who knows what's going on.

I am so bored of getting up to pee and each time its like the local dam has burst its bank. Last night was 1.40am then 4.30am. Could I get back to sleep after my second pee interlude, no! So when the alarm went off I was shattered and that coupled with my hayfever left me looking like a bag of shit today at work. Some would say that is my normal look!

moodoodoomoo I is going posh innit and going to make out me and Husband are loaded and swan in like Sloanes at the FMC in a couple of week's time dahling.

My MW told me that she finds a lot of her horse riding preggos are very strong down "there" and I am to start massaging regularly!! As this helps.

Feeling preggo today, as I look lardy, my tummy feels like its stretching and its itching and I keep getting headaches (think its cos of not drinking enough - or it could be the DTs from the lack of gin over the last couple of months) secondly at my desk today, felt like my kidneys were aching through my back, wasn't sure if it was cos I was sat for too long or what?!1

Once I have my scan I am going to book my NCT to make lots of nice new chums to go and sit in Pizza Express with our bumps.

Horse seems to have calmed down and is no longer a nutter, though I think that another rush of spring grass is just around the corner so I aint holding my breath!!

Enuff of my drivel for one day.

PS - anyone elses body temp going through the roof? I get so hot in bed!

SilverSky · 29/03/2010 22:34

Oh and my flatulence is OUTTA CONTROL.

Seems to be getting worse! A couple of trumps escaped whilst I was in the supermarket at lunchtime, all I can say, luckily the aisle was empty.

I am a bit of a farter anyway, but this is ridiculous!!!!

TMI? Here have this stilton on posh crackers to rid yourself of the image!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 30/03/2010 09:50

Sliver am with you on flatulence - what cruel twist of fate gave preggos dreadful stinky wind and a heightened sense of smell?

Here, lets have this huge plateful of chocolate eclairs. Nom nom.

iggypiggy · 30/03/2010 09:56

Nice to hear from you cheggs - lets hope the bath staring does the trick...

If we are talking farts - I managed one of such ferocity the other day that the dog jumped in fright...

CUNextTuesday · 30/03/2010 10:05

Satisfying though - never anything but satisfying

skihorse · 30/03/2010 10:09

Again, thank you everybody - especially VAG whose kind words made me blush and smile every time I thought about them.

cheggers Did you do your classes in your 2nd language? I'm worried that I'll feel left out and mix up the words push & clench for example. I did lol at the thought of you in the bath with your snorkel. Any chance of a nip ou to a swimming pool? Gotta be a little more dignified than arse up, belly down in the bath? Incidentally, are your kidney problems baybee related or just a kick in the teeth wrt your current healthy/bouncy state?

silver everything you're doing sounds completely normal to me.

honeymoo I think it's 100% your call. Next time he's going to give birth to something through his willy he can have whomever he likes in the room. I'm with cheggers though, my dilated cervix will be for few eyes only.

Would anyone mind terribly if I invited someone to join us? She's a BESH whom I went to uni with. She's overweight, drank and smoked her way through her 20s and when she visited a fertility "advisor" last year there were raised eyebrows and talk of "needing help at her age" etc. ? She's definitely not a babydust type and she lives near Oxford, worked in an equine therapy centre and has one dog.

OP posts:
CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 10:14

sounds like one of us then ski. Anyway, MN is public so she can come on over any time she likes. Bonus points for an amusing nickname...

Today I will mostly be eating jam doughnuts. Because the baby's worth it

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 30/03/2010 10:20

We need a new thread peeps. Suggesting something more "inclusive" just because...

Anyway, haven't been around for a while as world has gone to hell in a handbasket. Hopefully will all get better from now on. Nothing serious, just lots going on.

YOB finally felt him move last night. He was under-awed in my opinion.

Now then, labour. ski I totally understand your fear, but at the end of the day (or pregnancy) you're going to have no choice, like it or not, scared or otherwise, it's going to happen. Therefore being as prepared as possible is probably the way to go.

In my experience, there's two camps of labouring women - those who want to know what they're in for an be prepared, and those who just want to hand it all over to the doctors and walk away afterwards with a baybee. Not always, but typically the latter are the ones who get cut up more because they've not done the preparation (like good ol' cheg) and things aren't in the right place.

Therefore all I can say is, please, face your fear, find out as much as you can and the more you find out, hopefully the more you will desensitise yourself to the bits that scare you.

Just because millions of women have done it before you doesn't mean you shouldn't be scared. It's obviously a scary prospect and we all know of horror stories which make the whole thing really worrying.

Look, for every bad experience there's 10 good ones. 10 where the women found it perfectly copeable with and a difficult, but positive experience. I have no fear of labour having done it once, even though it wasn't how I planned it, as it was fine, I was fine, he is fine and I have the most wonderful little boy who is just the love and light of my life.

Please do go to some ante-natal classes, and from then look into some relaxation stuff, whatever takes your fancy.

cheg I do wish you luck with your baby turning. Have they offered to try to turn it? Is this possible with the other one on top? Would you consider trialling a vaginal breech delivery? If you ask there may be an ob who is experienced and willing to do it.

silver I don't think that perineal massage will help much with the strong horsey muscles as it's more the internal muscles, I think. But PM is definately a good thing to do anyway! I did it religeously last time and had no perineal damage at all, just a small labial tear and given that he came out with his hand straight up by his ear, making the space required much bigger, it obv didn't do any harm! I guess he scratched me on the way out which caused the small tear I got.

cunty so sorry to see your FB message re hips

For me, I'm feeling much better recently. Neck is not good but exercises are keeping it at bay. "other end" massively improved thanks to lovely doctor's cream (sorry, TMI) and my homepath has suggested a load of things to try as I can only use the cream for a week (hydrocortisone - cas but do you use steroid stuff ATM???). Not too tired as long as I get enough sleep (duh). Belly getting huge and movements stronger - I got the seeing-belly-move-in-bath thing the same day you did casper!! pandy you having an independant midwife?

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 30/03/2010 10:22

Oops I meant cheg IS doing the preparation (I was unclear) - clearly snorkelling in the bath is the definition of preparation...

CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 10:35

rotty I'm taking 5mg prednisolone daily and will be from now on. Low dose steroids are A-ok by me. Glad your bumgrapes are better

The PESH Deli - we don't care when you are due, as long as you can talk shit poo

The PESH Deli - The one where Cheggers Goes Pop

The PESH Deli - an entirely inclusive thread for women who left TTC till their 30s, struggled a bit a win a baby and are now complaining all the way through pregnancy.

Izzat clear enough?

skihorse · 30/03/2010 10:43

rots I think it's the "desensitising my bits" which is putting the fear up me! I hope things aren't going too badly with you, I will email you in the other place where I can hug you freely. Btw, bad YOB, he should've been doing cartwheels around the living room and talking about his supersperm!

I don't like it when my PESH girls are unhappy.

curly Thank you lovely, I will give her the URL. She is ~6 weeks and has yet to find a forum for her - and I can't see her doing the fluffy ones.

CHEGGERSGOESPOPCHEGGERSGOESPOP!
Btw, at the beginning of a new FRED can we maybe list who's here, what they're laying and a roll of honour for our babymamas?

OP posts:
CurlyCasperReturns · 30/03/2010 11:10

The PESH deli - the one where BESHs gave in to lists

Well, if we are going to have a list roll of honour, we all need to share our stats, cause I only know a few as per below:

dontrythisathome, laid a baby girl March 25.
Cheggers, due soon, twins
CUNextTuesday, due June??
Ponymum ???????
IggyPiggy, due July 20,
CurlyCasper, due July 21, girl
Skihorse, due July ??, boy
Carrots..., due July ??, boy

Right, who did I forget? Apologies already...

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 30/03/2010 11:18

Cool. Put me down for the 25th please.

ski desensitising? You mean getting chopped up/things getting messed up down there?

rollerbaby · 30/03/2010 11:29

ooh lovely I do like lists.

Mini moo is due on 1 November. For all I know it could be boy, girl or baby monkey in there now.

Mr Moo is happy now we have talked about the whole who's going to be there... he understands, I guess it is just one of those times where you hope that you will be enough - but my feeling is that neither of us have ever done anything so scary before so let's not leave anything to chance... it might go on for days for all we know.

skihorse · 30/03/2010 11:30

22nd please curly - although tbh, any time from the 3rd would be fine.

carrots Tbh I'm less worried about that, it'll all heal given time & salt baths. I think I'm more worried about stretching, never-ending stretching and pulling and then being whipped in to a maternataxi with blue flashy lights, wheeled under harsh, unflattering lights, people jibbering in forrin and staring at my bits, light flashing off of metal scalpels and instruments, wheeled in to theatre where upon my system crashes in to shock with general anaesthetic. game over. And/or the midwife (and her helper) leaving the house after 2 hours or so and me and jailbait left on our own with a baybee to look after with nothing but a pair of tits to wave at it.

Btw, I have a tit-lady helper organised. It's part of the service we get here in NL post-partum, she'll come to the house for 8 days (or so) to make sure I'm not going menkul/can feed.
