First baby due November 2010...am I the only one?

Anyone, anyone? It's early days I know...

Afternoon Ladies

Just had a little bit of a scare, went upstairs to talk to my husband and as I turned to come back down, I lost my footing and fell and really banged my head and a huge egg came up on my head, I got such a shock but my instant thought was "thank god, I didn't fall on my tummy" Husband promptly turned into Super Husband and got me to the sofa and got some ice to reduce the big egg and checked I wasn't suffering from concussion. I am perfectly fine now, but thinking of safety precautions to implement before baby comes, maybe not wearing just socks on a wooden stairs would be a good place to start.

Hope everyone is having a nice relaxing weekend. My copy of the Mumsnet Pregnancy book arrived today so I am on the sofa reading that.

loopy my mum was v v embarrased when my brother and girlfriend were pg. She found it difficult throughout whole pg but completely changed to utterly proud granny the day the baby came. So stick with it even though you may not get a positive reaction at first.

ladybee. Love the ups and downs suggestions

down- had to walk with 2 heavy bags instead of take a bus, as I was with a friend and had to fake nonpg normalness. Was knackered with achy back afterwards.
Must just claim general tiredness/hungoverness(lie) next time and bus as required.

Up- dp is looking after ds so i can get an extra hour sleep but I'm in bed on mn chatting to you lovely people. How nice.

This first bit is so hard keeping the pg to myself when it fills 90% of my waking thoughts.

LadyBee my ups and downs are as follows;

Ups

1. No symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy this time and I actually feel pregnant, which has meant I have less to worry about.

2. I am excited that in just 1 week and 3 days I shall be having a scan to see if everything is definitely in the right place!

3. I have a month off of work [as I work in a school] which means I have plenty of days where I can lie in, which seems to be a necessity at the moment especially with my weird sleeping pattern lately!

Downs

1. The increase in hormones has caused me to have several migraines recently. Also I am unable to take my migraine medicine as it is an emmenagogue and thus can cause menstrual bleeding [was worried this may cause me to miscarry]. So I'll just have to put up with the headaches.

That's about it really, I am feeling pretty good other than that!!! Hope everyone else is well. I am on holiday next week so I will be disappearing for a while, will have to devote the following week to catching up on this thread... It moves so fast!!!

ebb - thanks, it's nice to know that someone else has been in the same situation and knows what it's like! DP's parents aren't at all religious though, but he did try to talk to her on the phone this week and the conversation of babies came up again, and she again warned him that he MUST get married before we go down that path (little does she know!) and so he tried to pin her down as to her reasons WHY she thinks like this, and the only reason she could come up with is that if we split up, he would have rights if we were married and if we weren't then he wouldn't have any rights.....which as he rightly said is B*llocks. He's gone to theirs for the weekend, and i think he plans to try and talk to her a bit more. We really don't want to tell anyone until after the scan, despite me bursting to tell the whole world (mumsnet doesn't count really does it lol) but he's hoping if he gets her to admit now that it's not the end of the world, then she might be genuinely pleased when she knows!

hmmsleep - yes we live together, we've been together just over 2 1/2 years and the day after BFP was the anniversary of his first 12 months since he moved in with me Re his mom, it's ironic, she isn't at all religious and when we stay there we are allowed to sleep in the same room/share a bed....whereas at my folks, we have to sleep in 2 single beds in separate rooms as my mom is very religious. Can't make it up!

twodotzero - i hope she does switch into loving granny, it's my DP who has got me mithered about it all, but facts are, she had to threaten divorce before she was allowed to have DP, he is an only child and so if i have anything to do with it, the only grand children she will get will be from me (really love DP, and hope it lasts forever - i am divorced and i think when you've had a really bad relationship, it makes you realise when you've got something really special) so i hope that she will come round and love them, my mind is telling me it will be ok in the end, as she must like children to risk losing her DH in her fight deal with her being disapproving from now until November !

It boils down to money though, and unless she is going to offer to pay for it herself, we simply can't afford to get married this to have her DS which is now my DP. But would rather know that she is not against it before we tell her, so that i know she is genuinely pleased for us rather than have to year, as what spare money we have will go towards things for the baby. but doesn't stop the endless thinking and worrying and this site is great for just talking about things i can't yet talk to anyone else about in the real world!

Oh, and i'm with you all re the constant knicker checking.....i still feel that it was too easy to fall pregnant, that we were too lucky to do it in our first month of trying, and that something is going to go wrong because of this....to anyone who has already had a child, how long before this paranoia will subside?!

Helped at a NCT Nearly New Sale today and had to resist looking through the new born bits. Had a quick look 'pretending' to help a v pregnant woman look for things for her bump. Also managed to have a quick look through the Maternity rail - pretty average stuff.

UPS

1. lovely having my secret bump. Quite enjoying not telling people - I'm usually rubbish a keeping secrets.

DOWNS

1. Little bit of MS - never had it last time.
2. Bloomin well waking up in the middle of the night - I'd forgotten about that

Hello everyone - just checking in

I'm shattered today. Have been swimming with my three boys which was really good fun. Don;t know whether I've done myself any good though.
I was sitting in the jacuzzi bit with my eldest and after about 10 mins noticed the sign saying 'not suitable for pregnant women' Ooops
Then (even worse ) after going down the enormous slide about 10 times with DS3 on my knee, I realised that maybe that wasn't a good idea either - sure enough, the sign said ' not suitable for pregnant women'

Not sure how to play that one though. The kids don't know I'm pregnant yet but I take them swimming every week and I always take them down the slide

Have not had time to completely catch up with the thread yet, it moves so fast, but I hope you are all well x

Love the ups and downs! More downs than ups at the moment as I'm a bit anxious about being pg and my mood is not being helped by France leading 12-7 over England

Hi girls,

Hope you don't mind me adding myself, I got a BFP on 12th March and 3 more since then!! I'm still quite shocked as it was only our 2nd month of trying and it took me 15 months with my 1st. I had a miscarriage before my first pregnancy at 7 weeks so very nervous about this one especially knowing so early on. Only symptoms so far are 'metal' mouth and absolutely knackered. I'm hoping that such an early BFP means he/she will stick for us. My first DS is 18 months old.

Loooopy, hopefully the knickers checking / anxiety will go away once you get to 12 weeks and after a successful nuchal scan. That's when I start to relax a little, and you can look forward to feeling movements, but even then you're counting to the magic 24 weeks, and then to 28 (dh was born at 28 weeks so I see that as an ok gestation!) 28 weeks is when I'd start daring to buy things, although can't think what I'll actually need to buy this time around.

My ups - being pregnant! So pleased and excited. I loved being pg before and missed my bump after I'd given birth. Got to try and savour it as we will most likely stop at 2.
Really not feeling too bad, bit of nausea the other morning, but ok again since.

Downs - the exhaustion. I'm not having trouble sleeping but just never seem to get enough, and finding looking after dd hard going in the evenings. She's fab but I just want to get her in bed sometimes so I can flop on the sofa. Hopefully this will pass after first trimester as I want to enjoy having her to myself while I can.
Dh eating my lunch. I think he is suitably repentant though.

Hi gracie! My dd is 18m too

I'm still doing regular tests to see the line getting darker. Only one cheapie left though, and 1 fancy digital, but I want to leave that one a bit longer to make sure I get a 3+ on it else I know I'll end up buying more until I do!

Welcome gracie. ginger, I was at softplay going down one of those bumpy slides the day I went into labour with ds, come to think of it, probably why I went into labour with ds . Having said that I daren't go down water slides even when not pregnant, far too scary!

Downs - ms, diarrhea (tmi?), spots, irritability.

Ups - losing weight, ms(trying to see it as a positive too, although getting harder by the day!), watching my two gorgeous dcs sleeping just now, and knowing there might soon be a third.

Until coming on here I didn't understand why the pharmacist asked me how many test kits I wanted haha "Why? There's only one possibly pregnant woman in my household!"

Oh dear, England just lost, work is going to be irritating on Monday morning (I live and work in France)

Ups: Never thought I would get preggers so quickly (three months TTC) since all of my friends have had huge issues (two couples with impossible fertility problems and one with months trying then several MC).

Downs: Now feel that I was a bit too lucky and therefore loads of knicker checking (thanks for introducing THAT phrase into my vocabulary, ladies!).

Also, why did no one tell me that the exhaustion with no sleep starts now? I thought that was when baby arrived!!!

looopy I'm with you on the knicker checking! Hopefully I'll relax a bit once I get a scan, but it's booked in for 6 weeks time which just seems ages away

fenouille when I went to my GP she took bloods to confirm pregnancy, and I said that there was probably no need as I'd already done loads of HPTs. She said the average number of tests women have done before seeing her is 7!

Downs: feeling so exhausted I can barely muster the enthusiasm to move from the sofa

getting a new spot every time an old one clears up

Ups: boobs expanding to the point I have killer cleavage even in non-wired bras

DH having to spend all day yesterday oiling our patio furniture while I lay on sofa as the oil is not suitable for pg women

Today's Ups: 1) DH cleaned out the litter tray with significantly less complaining than usual
2) Although I managed to shave off a hunk of DH's hair while cutting his hair this morning I blamed it on the pg hormones and got a hug instead of shouting!
Today's Downs: I spent half an hour crying over the hunk of hair...

I've got my second night out with v close girlfriends in 2 weeks. Last time I claimed I'd just got my period and was feeling rough so no alcohol. ( thought this was a master stroke as totally deflected any baby suspicion)

what can I use now. 2 non drinking nights out in a row will raise eyebrows.
I'm not even a drinker. This is usually my only drink of the month just don't really want any at the moment.

Suggestions on a postcard please.

I'm so happy to have found this website and this thread! It's taken me a while to pick up how it works, but I've added myself to the list now. I have done 5 tests, all positive and am going to the dr on Wednesday. I'm getting very impatient though...

UPs: It only took 2-3 months trying, which considering I've had CFS for the last year was fantastic.
I'm very petite in the bust, so the growing boobs is like the puberty I never had!
Mild MS, tenderness and middle of the night hunger - at the moment I even like all of these as they make me feel pregnant!

Down: I can't wait for the first scan and for the wee one to become bigger than a lentil!

1. I am so grateful we've got a play date today. I can sit here on the sofa, feeling shatered, which two elephants, I mean pre-schoolers, get on with having fun ustairs. It's been a tad hectic here recently - friends down from Sheffield on Thurday night and all day yesterday at Legoland with another family.

1. Not enough sleep, really didn't need to be awake from 4am yesterday before a day out (even if it mean I got the ouse tidied before we left!).
2. The phony pregnancy stage, i.e. lack of ms to give me additional reassurance that everything is still on track.

I had given my SIL my maternity clothes a couple of years ago. She gave them back shortly before DH agreed to TTC. I don't remember getting rid of them but can't find them anywhere, so have a feeling they may have gone to the charity shop with a load of other stuff. Oh well at least I will have an excuse to go clothes shopping at some point

Thanks for all the virtual support! We currently live in Canada, which is great but they are a little Holier Than Thou here. So going on rides marked "not safe for pregnant women" would be terribly shocking. You're not eating all organic food while pregnant OMG!!! It's nice to get sensible, normal advice. Also great to see some older mums here.

BTW my DH thinks I am spending too much time on the web as this is his domain. He is trying to find out my nickname. Anyone else's DH jealous of MN?
