Crumpetsolo I was offered Southmead or St Michaels and ( I think Bath RUH ). I opted for Southmead as it was easier to get to. I did have a bit of a panic that I wouldn't end up at Southmead as my waters went about 8.30pm on the Saturday night so was told to come in to Southmead to have a trace and they were full so I didn't get a bed til 11.30pm. I got home at about 1.30/2am and contractions started almost immediately and were every 2 minutes right from the start so we headed straight back in. Luckily everyone had given birth and the MLU was empty which was great as we got the birthing pool and a midwife for the whole duration. I intend to check the midwife rota and make sure I go into labour when 'my' midwife is on duty. She was fantastic!

Loopy I ended up with an emcs last time, there is no way I would risk a HB this time.

I sometimes wonder if HBs are safer for low risk women because women who want to HB tend to educate themselves about the birth and alternative forms of pain relief and therefore are better equipped to deal with labour which of course in itself could lead to less interventions. So it's not the environment per se it's the education of the woman.

hello this is the thread for november babies?

i got a faint positive this morning on a first response test, only day 26 of my cycle, so should have waited a few more days really but was desperate to test and a positive is a positve

this is baby no 5 for me, and due date is the 28th november (tho my last four were all late so i expect this one to be a december baby all going well)

havent read back, a toddler not giving me that chance, so i hope everyone is well? xxx

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 19/03/2010 13:07

Cheers Loopy I appreciate the links but I think the problem is DH has seen first-hand how horrible things can go so then telling him it only happens in 0.001% of cases is irrelevant.

NBelle · 19/03/2010 13:18

I will be having an international baby too, I am in Stavanger in Norway. Have no idea how the doctors appointments and what the hospital facilites are but once we can tell people I have loads of friends who have had babies to ask.

addicted i desperatly want a chip butty now, although not sure if i could eat it as MS seems to be creeping in, only been sick once just feeling sick most of the time. As others have already mentioned though, it does make you feel a little more reassured.

Almost weekend!!

cluelessnchaos · 19/03/2010 13:24

Libra I had ds at frimly park and loved it, I had the best midwife in the world who compltely followed my lead.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 19/03/2010 13:39

Hi all. I have been really reassured by the fact that other people have been having some discharge too. For me I had some faint spotting on Thursday and on and off a faint bit of brown when I wipe since then. No pain though. Still, it really upset me, so it's great to hear it's not that uncommon and others are going through the same!

I'm international too! If all goes well, this would be a born in Belgium baby.

I think MS is just starting to kick in for me (6+1). I get waves of quite strong nausea. The thought of my usual lunch (vegetarian salad) has been really making me feel grossed out, so I've gone back to big sandwiches with lots of lovely fillings!

I've jacked in the coffee - it's not that I think it's a problem, but I was so addicted I was getting withdrawal headaches, so thought it would be good to nip it in the bud! Mainly drinking mint tea now.

IssyStark · 19/03/2010 13:54

Am now beginning to regret the banana sponge and custard I had at lunch. I didn't need it, I even had a pear in my bag which would have filled the spot but I thought I might as well given that in a week or so, food will be the least of my desires once ms arrives.

As I sit here with my head swimming and my tummy leaden, I think I have learnt my lesson

stuffedmk · 19/03/2010 14:10

Loopy the proper coke was even better because it was the post mix in the staff canteen at work and they alwyas put more coke in than anywhere else I have ever experienced......yummy!!!!!!!!!

stuffedmk · 19/03/2010 14:11

always

stuffedmk · 19/03/2010 14:15

I'm sure the next 8 weeks are going to drag!
Keep seeing cute baby things that I can't buy in case I tempt fate.
Would love an early scan but need all my cash for the baby stuff that I can't buy yet lol so I will have to wait for the 12 week.

harmonyb23 · 19/03/2010 15:08

Hey everyone, well I am 5+3 today. Have not been suffering with MS as of yet but have been finding my sleep pattern is all over the place. I keep waking up at about 4am, I feel wide awake and can't get back to sleep. Then I fall asleep about 5 ish and wake up when my alarm goes off at 7:00am. It's not usual for me to have these problems sleeping, anyone else having problems???

Somethingsuitablywitty I have been getting quite a bit of discharge as well. No spotting for me, which is a relief because last time round that spelled the beginning of the end for me. I think I'd probably flip out if I had spotting this time round, but it is really common so nothing to worry about I wouldn't imagine.

I can't wait for my scan in 2 weeks, really hoping that everything is in the right place this time...

Hope everyone is well!!! x x x

Afternoon

Well I've been a good girl and have bought some caffeine free teabags alongside my Aspatame free cordial.

Lots of talk about HB here. When pg with DD1 all I wanted was to be at hosptial where I had the safety of intervention close by. I'm glad I did. However now I'm on #3, if I had the opportunity I'd definitely consider a HB. Having had a previous c-section and having GBS in last pregnancy there's not much hope for me now. I was a HB baby and that was waaaayyy back in the 70's, so how things must have moved on since then!

Stuffedmk - Oh me too. Even though I have bags and bags of baby things I'm already drawn towards the shops which stock baby items. I have an urge to buy, but it's too early, even for maternity clothes. Sales are beginning to start too which makes it even more frustrating.

Hello Ladies,

We were all set up for a HB with DS. Had the pool - everything.

Unfortunately, though, I went two weeks overdue, and then they found I had oligohydramnios (no waters left), so I was induced in hospital.

It was fine, in fact. I only needed a couple of pessaries, and didn't need any intervention. Just Gas&Air and DH rubbing my back like a demon.

I'm booked into Kings, but we're hoping to move before the birth, so who knows?

Now the antibiotics have cleared up my chest infection, I'm feeling worryingly well. At this stage last time I was barely able to move.

Fingers crossed...

BorisTheBold · 19/03/2010 16:11

Hi all,

I'll be having this one at PAH in Southampton waves at IssyStark. Dd1 was back to back and I ended up with a lovely long (45.5 hours!) labour followed by a forceps delivery. Dd2 had shoulder dystocia and came out with a broken clavicle, so I think the hospital is probably the best place for me! .

Still fairly asymptomatic here, mild nausea on occasion and a few stretchy cramps but that's about it. After the 9 months of insomnia I suffered with the previous two I am positively relishing the tiredness which is conking me out for at least 8 hours each night!

Got a letter from the m/w unit yesterday confirming that they'll be in touch to arrange a booking appointment when I'm 10 weeks - so I can assume that my 12 week scan will be late...

Hope you are all feeling fine this afternoon.

BtB

crumpetsolo · 19/03/2010 16:21

Babybean1 - Hmmm, not fancying the idea of having a baby in an ambulance! My cycles were all over the place, but I know when I ovulated and I did tell the midwife, but she insisted on doing the 28 day wheel thing, so that's the EDD they used to generate my scan appointment - so I think they think I'm about 9/10 weeks when I'll actually be only 7. Nevermind, I'm going anyway. No way I can last until 12 weeks!

I think you can get an early scan if you've had any spotting as well - I had a 6 week scan with my DS at Southmead Early Preg Unit.

pyjamalover · 19/03/2010 16:30

Hi everyone! I'm 5 weeks today, had to work night shifts this week (am an A&E doc) which weren't too bad considering, but the smelly patients (sorry, but some of them are) are REALLY smelly to my pregnant nose. Also a patient needed a dr with them in xray so I made my junior go, I'm sure he thought I was pulling rank as obviously can't tell anyone yet.

Told my mum by taking a photo of my BFP and putting it in her mothers day card.

This is my first pregnancy so it's all very new, am scared of all the many things that can go wrong, ignorance would be bliss really.

floweryogi · 19/03/2010 18:42

Evening all... wow - I haven't had a chance to check the thread out for a week and - blimmin' 'eck - it's massive! Welcome to all the newbies - congratulations.

Playing and boots - really sad news... take good care and good luck.

Honeymoo - amazing stuff, how lovely - I'm so I haven't had any news yet from the hospital (Whittington) Will need to call as I'm 8 weeks and want a date for the scan/booking.

I am still wondering if I am actually pregnant! No MS but boobs still big and tender. I'm wearing maternity bras now and I'm really loving them (only a 36B but bigger than normal!) I was craving protein last week and now I have preg head! Judgement is all a bit odd... I drove the car at about 5mph into a wall by the garage yesterday. Just scraped down the bumper but got really upset and showed DH and he made a joke to which I just burst into tears! Being forgetful and have had to go back and check I've locked the front door on 3 occasions now. Hmm.

Anyway - it's been lovely catching up and have a lovely weekend.

xxxxx

Gaga82 · 19/03/2010 20:19

Feeling very sorry for myself - going to a wedding tomorrow away from home without DH and with a group of 3 friends who have no idea and who I do not want to know yet! Dreading having to avoid the not drinking issue, having to be up past 10:30, sharing a room and been given a meal to eat that I have no say over!! At least I look so rubbish (the bags under my eyes now have bags!) that a mystery illness should be quite believable...eek.

Tillybea · 19/03/2010 20:46

floweryogi I have bumped my car with both my previous pregnancies, my friend has with hers too. I'm sure it's almost an expected symptom - pregnant = inability to drive!

So tired tonight an early night beckons for me.
