Just a little whinge:

I feel terrible!!!!

Can't even read the threads about chocolate without feeling sick!!

Right glad to get that off my chest. I am booked into UCH London but pondering changing to Whittington.

PrivetDancer · 18/03/2010 22:40

tillybea - yes - I only ever get cordial from sainsburys nowadays, they only use sucralose which is not generally considered dodgy. Got a bit paranoid about asparatame in first pg as I drink a lot of squash and try to avoid it now.

God I sound like a paranoid health freak on this thread no caffeine, no asparatame.... plenty of booze and junk food though, honest!

loopy when I posted about second breakfasts I was going to mention hobbits...then I got confused and thought maybe it was Homer Simpson that eats second breakfast. You've reassured me that I'm definitely on the Bilbo Baggins diet at the moment

Had to buy new bras today as boobs getting very uncomfortable. Turns out that while I may only be 5weeks pg I have gone up 2 cup sizes. Surely if my boobs keep up this rate of expansion they will have exploded long before my due date

I'll be giving birth in the North Shore hospital in Sydney - is anyone else adding an international element to the thread or is it just me in foreign parts?

addictedtothefirsttrimester · 19/03/2010 08:15

i was born in st. Mikes!

But hopefully i'll be giving birth in cheltenham general

Bunny i noticed yesterday that my bra is digging into my back so i'm going to have to go and get re-measured, the cups barely hold my boobs atm so i wouldt be surprised if i've gone up a couple of sizes too.

Loopy i'm starting to hate pregnancy too, i just dont see how i'm going to cope. I've had enough

Romilly70 · 19/03/2010 08:48

bunnygirl80 you are not alone giving birth overseas. I will be having my baby in France. (in French! ) Haven't even seen a french doctor yet, but have seen my UK GP and am booked into see the UK midwife whilst I am getting my paperwork sorted out.
(The french social security system is very strict, you can't pitch up and deliver your baby, without landing a 5000 euro bill!)

Will be interesting to compare the 2 systems. I do know they check you every month and then you get 5 days in hospital after delivery...

Kyuri · 19/03/2010 08:49

Either at home or at Edinburgh Royal. Haven't decided yet, will need to chat through options with MW. Has anyone ever had a HB in Edinburgh before? I've read that first timers are good candidates for HB as labour tends to progress pretty slowly so there's plenty of time to transfer to the unit if necessary (and am only 3 miles from unit). Not sure I would share the plan for HB too widely though, suspect I wouldn't be very popular with the mother-in-law!

Staying on the 2 breakfast theme - have had bowl of porridge (feeling the healthy eating smugness) and then a sausage roll with ketchup when I arrived into work (pride comes before a fall) .

Happy Friday everyone!

CardiCorgi · 19/03/2010 08:56

Well, after a visit to gynae yesterday, I guess I belong on this thread. Due on 7th November.

bunnygirl80 I'm another international one - Germany where they give you umpteen appointments, checkups etc.

I'm still waiting for all of the good things like larger boobs (still barely an A), skin clearing up etc. So far I feel normal apart from a bit of nausea and would absolutely love a gin and tonic

Tillybea · 19/03/2010 09:07

Morning all

Welcome and Congrats CardiCorgi

Just a quick post this morning. Wanted to thank those who mentioned the Aspartame and where I can get non-nasty cordial. Luckily there's a Waitrose not far from where I work, so I'll pop there at lunchtime.

Feeling slightly icky-er this morning so think I'm going to need a few hours to feel human. Hugs to those of your who are really sufferring.

IssyStark · 19/03/2010 09:29

Greeting from Southampton on what is a damp and dismal day down here, hope the weather is cheerier where you are!

addicted I'll be 5w on Sunday (have had an inkling for the past 2w and got my positive last Friday). this earlier stage does drag so. Btw, I love you username

gaga82 I had quite a bit of brown discharge with my son between 5w and 8w but I never had any with my mmc (go figure). as addicted said, as long as it is dark it's old blood working it's way out, possibly from the implantation, and nothing to worry about.

tilly if 4 cups of cup = 2 mugs of tea then you're within the current guidelines but if you mean 4 mugs then that's probably over the v. cautious limits they set. Check out www.eatwell.gov.uk/agesandstages/pregnancy/whenyrpregnant/ for the latest info. That said when I had my son in 2006 4 cups of tea was within the limits then so I wouldn't stress about it.

Babybean1 · 19/03/2010 09:38

Congrtas CardiCorgi and welcome....

Hey crumpetsolo! Nice to have another Bristol bean growing

I live closer to Southmead so will go there i think. Its also closer for family and i know they will be dying to get into see the new arrival so be easier all round. Its also supposed to be one of the best maternity units in the country so that works for me
After talking to the MW the other day i think i may try the birthing suite. Ebb also said this was really nice.

My friend gave birth at St Mikes and was told to go home as she wasnt ready....she then ended up phoning for an ambulance shortly after getting home and having to tell the paramedics that the she was DEFINITELY ready as the babys head was between her legs! They still tried to tell her no, and it was only when she pulled her trousers down for them to see they believed her! She ended up giving birth in the middle of town in the back of the ambulance! Sorry if TMI!
Kind of put me off a bit as you can probabaly imagine

Your due the day before me!....We could all be there at the same time
How are you able to get an early scan? Did they just offer it?? Not having my booking appointment until im 9+1 but want a bit of reassurance before then if poss.

Threelittleducks · 19/03/2010 09:45

Anyone else in sunny Scotland? Ninewells Hospital?

Got my booking appointment yesterday - 29th April. Seems an age away! This is me getting an early referral because of blood pressure problems last time. early??

craftykamo · 19/03/2010 09:49

Just saw GP about my back, ruled out a kidney infection and thinks I've just pulled a muscle. Sorted my booking in appointment - 29th April! I'll be 11 weeks by then! Think I'll definitely pop down to the EPU at work to see when I can buy a reassurance scan...

VodkaGirl77 · 19/03/2010 09:50

Hello All

I'll be having this baby at St James (Jimmys) in Leeds. Was hoping to have a home birth, but due to shoulder dystocia with dd2, my midwife has advised against it, and I can see her point.

Planned a home birth last time, but transferred to hospital due to lack of progression, however gave birth 30 mins after arriving - was good that I was there though due to the shoulder dystocia as mentioned.

Am currently off work with really bad back pain. Went to see doctor on Wednesday and he has said paracetamol, a hot water bottle and rest, but doesn't seem to be helping much. Am really worried as had SPD last pg and am hoping this is just a pulled muscle.

Anyway, hope all are well.

Thanks Loopy, very useful info!

Threelittleducks am in Scotland too (Edinburgh)

MarthaFarquhar · 19/03/2010 10:38

Kyuri I tried for a HB with my first. I did end up transferring in as DD was compound presentation and needed ventouse. But the transfer was managed very calmly and I would certainly have no qualms about HB in the future. My midwife has provisionally booked me for HB this time, but I'm already finding this pg a lot harder, so might change my mind.

stuffedmk · 19/03/2010 11:24

Am thinking of HB this time. The local hospital, Milton Keynes General (where I had DS with no probs) is under investigation at the moment

Suppose I should get my arse in gear and make an appt at GP

Feeling a bit grim today....have to say I am going to buck the second breakfast trend(for now ) My appetite has gone down, even when I am feeling fine. Mind you when I start eating a meal it is gone in seconds lol

addictedtothefirsttrimester · 19/03/2010 11:52

my appitite has disapeared completly so atm i'm eating just what i feel like, so for breakfast i had an apple and chocolate ice-cream and am making a chip butty of lunch am thinking this could be a healthy day

rollerbaby · 19/03/2010 12:10

Wahey just heard my baby's heartbeat and saw our cm long little bean! Feeling MUCH happier and more reasured today now. Promised mr moo no more scans until 12 weeks...

From here to maternity I can't eat chocolate either, makes me feel sicker!

Cannot wait to stop feeling nauseous. Please god though I don't start barfing. Presumably if I haven't at 8 weeks I'll be ok???? Anyone?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 19/03/2010 12:15

Afternoon all, I am sticking to mostly plain food atm even tho i really want Pizza Expresses pizza and salad buffet at the same time thinking of it makes me feel ill. Also weirdest pregnancy symptom for me at the moment is the thought of coats makes me even more nauseaous, which means it's pretty cold when I go out.

I will be having Jnr 2.0 at Frimley Park Hospital which has a fab maternity department.

I wish I had the guts for a homebirth (DH is a doc and he would never want it), a fellow NCT-er had a home water birth for her first using hypnobirthing (yes you will get sick of me mentioning it but its FAB) and it sounded lovely.

addictedtothefirsttrimester · 19/03/2010 12:32

libra my friend did the hypnobirth thing, i keep meaning to ask her what it involves. I cant have gas and air and the thought of needles make me sick (even before pg) so i was thinking it could be an option for me

balijay · 19/03/2010 12:33

Afternoon all. 5w today here, no MS yet, am just waiting for it to rear its ugly head!

Think it will be Poole General or the Royal Bournemouth for us - anyone else down this way? x

stuffedmk · 19/03/2010 12:43

Just had leftover macaroni cheese and salad for lunch...Yes SALAD!!! lol
chocolate is now only manageable in small doses so I have a packet of minstrels in the fridge for when I just want a taste
when I was pg with DS I was obsessed with bacon sarnies and proper coke and when not consuming the former it was general junk food so actually fancying salad and fruit might mean I put less weight on this time (fingers crossed)

Babybean1 · 19/03/2010 12:48

Aww thats lovely honeymoo. I want to see mine too!!

Know what you mean about loss of appetite! Havnt really wanted anything, then when i do fancy something, the thought of it also makes me feel sick! glad im not the only one!

Had a strange want need for Mcdonalds yesterday even though i never normally eat it! Didnt have it though as i thought i should try and fill my body with a little bit more goodness! But when eating dinner, the thought of any food, including Mcdonalds made me feel even more yuk!! Pregnancy sure is a weird and wonderful thing

I have up until today only felt sick....but when sat in the office after eating a plum, MS or just S!! decided to rear its ugly head! Guess the baby isnt a fan of plums! sorry again if TMI! Strangly though it feels quite reassuring!

Is anyone else feeling really thirsty?? (this may have been said before - think pregnancy brain may be setting in!)
