Had my first GP appointment today, just usual blood pressure, weight (have lost half a stone!)then midwife booking in appointment made. This won't be until 15th April by which time I'll be nearly 12 wks. Am tempted to see if I can have a quick chat on the phone with midwife though, as if I decide on nuchal scan will have to sort it privately prior to this and would like a bit more info first.

As for caffeine, I don't like tea or coffee, but I could easily get through 400g of chocolate a day, fortunately ms has really put me off it!

PrivetDancer · 18/03/2010 15:31

Caffeine in chocolate doesn't count.

When I was pregnant with dc1 midwife told us at antenatal class that milk chocolate was good as it contained calcium, think she was just trying to make us feel better, but who am I to argue with the advice of a professional?

LadyBee · 18/03/2010 15:52

hmmSleep, I didn't even get blood pressure , had my GP appointment today and he just said congratulations twice and wrote down the name of a couple of websites that he recommended as they don't have any literature now to give out.
I asked him about the swineflu, and he checked with the nurse. She said that she would recommend having it done, but they didn't have any vaccine in at the moment and then when I went to book at reception the ladies there were adamant that they weren't doing it anymore and I decided I wasn't going to fight this battle so gave up.
So I guess now it's a matter of waiting for a booking in appointment. The GP checked my phone numbers so I wonder if they'll call rather than sending a letter .

I went off tea this morning.
But to compensate I have since had: two glasses of strawberry milk, half a slice of toast, a packet of crisps, a rhubarb yoghurt, a salami sandwich (I know, I know..bad bad, but it was the only thing I wanted to eat), a nectarine, a chocolate and a ginger biscuit. I feel like I'm loading up before the nausea strikes. Nearly cried when I saw nectarines in the shop though, I don't know why but they were my number 1 craving last time too.

Privetdancer does the caffiene in choc really not count? I just coppied stright from the book

Babybean1 · 18/03/2010 16:25

Me to loopy that did make me chuckle hmm

Just when I was thinking guilty about tucking into a cream egg..... going to go for it now

Big waves to you too Ebb who knows if your not early and I'm a bit late we could be in at the same time!

Been feeling really sicky today, and sad to say but very happy about it! Can only say that when were preggers hey?! It's been happening during the evenings the last few nights. DH has been loving the seconds!!

I already had the swine flu jab last year as I work with vulnerable adults and was in an at risk group so pleased I haven't got to worry about it now. Have just refused a Hep B jab though until after babys born as was due for a booster

Gonna go and enjoy my choc now

lizardqueenie · 18/03/2010 17:11

Hi Booboobedoo

Thanks for replying. No I am at a hospital in Bromley for the Midwife appointments (which is the one at 12 weeks) then from the info I've got looks like they book you in for the Kings scan afterwards which I guess includes testing as well as the normal scan.

It is my first pregnancy its just that I thought 12 weeks was kinda a long time to wait to see someone.

Also, cant help but be concerned about something going wrong, and although I know I scan wouldnt change that I just want to check everything is ok before mid April.

kawaiiko · 18/03/2010 17:44

funbun I reduced my intake to one proper coffee and one diet coke a day for the first few weeks but now (7+5) I have gone completely off coffee My dh thinks I'm bonkers (he's a 5-a-day man)

mylittlebubble I've been having palpitations too. Feels weird but googled it and it seems to be part and parcel of that pg...of course! Everything is a bloody pg symptom!

kawaiiko · 18/03/2010 17:58

lizardqueenie I'm a bit confused about the appointments too - I got my booking in one for the 23rd of April. When I spoke to them they said it was fine to have this anytime before 13 weeks. On the 23rd I'll be 12+6! Just seems like their taking the piss . No scan date yet, either. Still, I suppose this is what you get having a baby in central London!

lizardqueenie · 18/03/2010 18:06

Kawaiiko - agree with you exactly! Whereabouts in London are you? I'll be 12 weeks dead on and then I reckon that you get referred for the scan appointment (maybe at King for you too) at your booking in appointment which unfortunately (as I have read on this site) has caused a few ladies appointment window to be missed .

I have given the Fetal Medicine Centre a call today and I am going to try to get an appointment with them for next week will talk to DH tonight over dinner. The thing is as I said before I know that having a scan wont change the outcome but I want to know where I am really (I don't even know if my EDD are right) and I would feel better seeing someone before 12 weeks. Wishing you lots of luck

Gaga82 · 18/03/2010 18:58

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced any dark brown discharge???? (Sorry to those with MS still rocking on!!) According to books/websites nothing to worry about but still have nagging feeling as a first timer. I am seeing midwife for first time on Monday (when 7weeks)so will mention then, but just wondered.

addictedtothefirsttrimester · 18/03/2010 19:14

hi gaga, i have on tuesday eve actually if you look at past posts there are others as well. Mw told me brown blood is old blood and probably just finding its way out. If it gets heavy or turns red you should be concerned. Hth

crumpetsolo · 18/03/2010 19:29

Ooh, just noticed lots of Bristol people Babybean1 Harmony and Ebb - hello! Is anyone going to St Michael's? I'm still undecided, but St Mikes is a bit closer to us.

addicted that wasn't a medical opinion, just mine

Gaga82 · 18/03/2010 20:29

Thanks addicted good to know. Normally I'm quite level headed, but think the ritual 5am wake-ups my body is giving me are starting to take their toll! Appreciate your reply.

PrivetDancer · 18/03/2010 20:32

Should we put our hospital down in the stats too? Seems to be a few people at the same place! I'm stoke mandeville, anybody else?

hmmSleep · 18/03/2010 20:48

I'll be at Harrogate District Hospital, get the feeling I'll be the only one!

cluelessnchaos · 18/03/2010 21:06

hmmsleep, I had my dd1 and dd2 in edinburgh too, ds down south and then even further north for this one.

Tillybea · 18/03/2010 21:14

Evening all

All this talk of food.. and I think for each item listed on here, I thought 'oooh'. I have just polished off a midweek roast, but couldn't quite manage the cheesecake to finish.

I keep thinking about giving up caffeine but I drink 4 cups of tea max per day, so don't think I'm over the limit. I did notice the additives in my cordial on my desk earlier today and I think I need to give that up as it's got all those nasties Aspartame and Acesulfame K - is anyone else concerned about these sugar alternatives?

As for chocolate, I've also been told Dark Chocolate is even better as it is full of iron, so get the Green and Blacks out ladies!

As for hospitals, I'll be at QMC in Nottingham.

Mylittlebubble · 18/03/2010 21:18

Evening Ladies, I'll be in Bath RUH.
Sat under the duvet ready to fall asleep I think.

Gaga82 · 18/03/2010 21:33

I'll be in York, hmmsleep, you're not alone as a northern voice on here!
