Good luck Harmony and Mumcha

I have my scan tomorrow (will be 7+2), and wondered whether anyone might know if it's likely to be an internal U/S or the normal external one? Not bothered either way, but not sure whether I should go with empty bladder (necessary for other internal ones I've had) or if it turns out to be an external one whether I should have a full bladder? I know I could just phone the fertility unit but work in an open plan office and it's a pain to get anywhere private to make personal calls.

Grateful for your thoughts ladies!

hmmSleep · 16/03/2010 10:12

kyuri Usually they just do the external scan, last time I went I hadn't drank enough (due to fact time before I'd drank too much, just can't get it right!) and they just made me go to loo so that they could do vaginal one, with my 2 kids sat watching which was nice, not. It normally tells you on the letter they send to drink a pint of water an hour before appointment, means you're desperate for loo by the time you get there!

Tillybea I find the white company clothes come up quite large, so the xs was actually a roomy size 8, lasted me right through as you can just roll the waist band down, and then great for afterwards. They also come quite long though, so at 5ft 1 I had to take them up, but then I do with most trousers.

Good luck with scans everyone!!

Hi all, can I add myself to the list - EDD 14th November, first PG, I'm 37 and swinging between total and utter excitement and terror!

saw dr yesterday, will see MW around 18th April

been a bit nauseous, but not sick, and more tired than ever before - snoring on the sofa by 9pm the last 2 nights, much to DP's amusement! Last couple of days have been dizzy and light headed, feeling a bit faint - is that normal? what can i do to stop it?

looking forward to sharing this experience with you all

TwoDotZero · 16/03/2010 10:35

Hi all I'm 38, due on 10th nov, 2nd pg. Have 1ds of 18 months.

I'm 6 weeks pg. Not sure if I'll manage to keep quiet for another 6 weeks.

Very very pleased to join you all. No sickness yet but am imagining it all the time....is that nausea? I'd better have a biscuit just in case.

cluelessnchaos · 16/03/2010 10:47

jellybeancounter, the only thing that helps when i get dizzy is to sit down for a while, 10 minutes at least, I have tried to ignore it before and ended up in a heap on the floor so find an excuse to park yourself

ilovepeas · 16/03/2010 11:02

Hello - I am due on 17 Nov and it's my first. Went to see the doc last night - he was really sweet but it all still feels quite surreal so I think me and my dh seemed nervous. He kept saying 'Congratulations...!!'.
How long do people normally wait before telling family? I know it should be 12 weeks but we are seeing all family over Easter so would be nice to tell them all together if all is going well and me not drinking is quite unusual so think they will suspect...

Kyuri · 16/03/2010 11:07

Thanks hmmsleep! No appointment letter as it's just going to be done at the fertility centre drop-in clinic. Reckon I will go with sloshing bladder and can always empty it there if need be.

Romilly70 · 16/03/2010 11:09

Wow, all these lovely mummies-to-be! Congratulations everyone

I have just got my midwife appointment - next wednesday, I will be 8+5.
Just been flicking through the thread, trying to find out what exactly happens at the appointment - I've got an hour, so I guess she will be quite busy. Can anyone enlighten me please?!

I had my pregnancy confirmed last friday. My GP was lovely, but he just took my word for it - I feel like a bit of a fraud as all i've done is peed twice on some pg tests from the 99p store (3 for 99p). I did find a flashy Clearblue test, slightly out of date which also flashed up pregnant.

Half the time, I don't even feel pregnant, until I feel hungry and then I. Have. To. Eat.Food. NOW... otherwise I start feeling that quesy feeling which I am trying to avoid at all costs.... However, I never know what I am going to fancy eating. Luckily it seems to be fruit and veg if i have been pigging out on too much processed stuff. (this embryo seems to have strong ideas about healthy eating....!)

Other thing I have resigned myself too is insomnia - usually awake between 3am & 4am for a couple of hours with head whizzing full of stuff. This morning I was writing up my pg journal. I have been too lazy to get out of bed and do my meditation CD - which does help clear your head and go back to sleep.

Anyway, that's enough rambling from me...have a good day ladies

balijay · 16/03/2010 11:09

Morning everyone. Just found out this morning am preg with No.3 - v excited!! EDD is 19th November so how many weeks does that make me? Can't remember how you work it out

ilovepeas · 16/03/2010 11:23

Hi balijay - I am due on 17th November and am 5 weeks tomorrow. Easiest way is to find one of those pregnancy calculators and put in the date of the 1st day of your last period. Then it counts 40 weeks for you. But sounds like you are around 5 weeks too. Congratulations!

Mylittlebubble · 16/03/2010 11:29

Need some support!! Have promised my husband I will NOT tell anyone, just had long telephone conversation with best friend this is so hard!!!
Will need to use you guys on here to share my excitment in the hope it stops me telling my friends!!!

jellybeancounter · 16/03/2010 11:31

thanks clueless, seems a packet of crisps helps too!

Mylittlebubble · 16/03/2010 11:40

I am feeling really distrated today! Getting no work done at all!!!
I need to get a grip

SilverBoots · 16/03/2010 11:41

Hello!

Welcome & congrats to all those who have joined recently .

Good luck to the ladies having scans today .

I'm another who is waking at 4am, what IS so special about that time??? I eventually drift back off to sleep when it's time to get up & stagger about trying to get the DCs ready for school.

Feeling a bit . Went to the loo after I got back from the school run - very pale pink discharge. I've also slight tummy pain on right hand side. Phoned EPU - I have to be referred by a midwife or doctor before I can be seen. Am now going to try phoning MW again (have to go out to the car to make calls as having work done on the house at the mo - no privacy). Hopefully I'll get a scan tomorrow am.

Boots x

Tillybea · 16/03/2010 11:50

Balijay ? Congrats on your BFP! I Googled EDD calculator and it gave me a few sites where you can put your dates in to give you when you?re due.

Romilly (ooh forgot how much I love that name ? one for the list!) ? Congrats to you too. The booking in appt is a lot of questions, form filling and blood taking, and of course meeting your mw. Being a 1st timer you?ll have more appts and they will probably go through things in a bit more detail. If you?ve got any burning questions, write them down as you?ll probably forget on the day trying to take it all in.

Jellybeancounter - For light-headedness, try to make sure you are fully hydrated; drink lots of water and keep eating small and often to keep your sugar levels up.

Hmm - Thanks for the info on the trousers. I think I?ll put an order in tonight when I get home. Even though I know it?s too early for a bump, I am keen to get into loose trousers by the evening so these will do me fine. I?m a shorty too so will be prepared to get the sewing machine (or wonderweb if I?m lazy) out.

Silverboots Hoping everything will be OK.

Ebb · 16/03/2010 12:13

Wow! November's going to be very busy! Ds finally got a different type of antibiotics which worked ( hooray! ) so he's finally getting back to his normal, busy self. I, however, am now getting his cough, feel constantly exhausted and appear to have a severe case of wind......

I would love to get an early scan to put my mind at rest but not sure the Doctor would be sympathetic to that! I have my booking in appointment on April 1st. With my last pregnancy, she got me a scan for 10wks, which I think was because she was pressurising me to have a private nuchal scan which you have to do between 11 & 13 wks ( is that right?). I suspect she'll do the same again this time round.

Good luck to everyone having scans and congratulations to all the recent bfp's!

Threelittleducks · 16/03/2010 13:02

Good afternoon everyone! Hope you are all having a good day.

Was at playgroup this morning with ds and was resisting the urge to tell the pregnant lady in the group that - me too!!

She probably would have thought I was crazy (it's only my 2nd week there, don't want to risk it just yet). I have this NEED to tell someone though...it's eating away at me! Ahrgh!

Good luck to all the scan ladies today.

PrivetDancer · 16/03/2010 13:10

Good luck for the scans today!

I have just met up with the post natal group I met with dd - 3 of us announced we were pregnant!! That's out of a group of 6, another girl is due next week.
One girl due pretty much exactly when I am, one due September (has managed to keep it secret until 2nd trimester, I never could do that )

ilovepeas, I'll probably tell my mum in a few weeks when I see her next

silverboots, I've had a slightly coloured discharge too, but not much at all, and it's around the time my period would be due so am not too worried. No pain for me either. Hope you get a scan tomorrow.

balijay · 16/03/2010 13:48

Ooh its so nice hearing from you lot at the same stage as me! I thought it was just me doing weird things like waking seriously early (4.45 this morning)and wanting to blurt out my news to any random people I speak too!! x

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 16/03/2010 14:16

Hi there! I have been meaning to stick my head around the door for aagggeess! I got my BFP two weeks ago but only just starting to believe now!

It's lovely to see so many people here going through the same thing. I also keep waking up in the middle of the night! Didn't realise it was so common.

I have my first scan next week, so I am counting down to that at the moment. I am six weeks now.

I'm 31 and it's my first. My EDD is 10 nov (I think!). I've added myself and the other newbies to the huge list!

jellybeancounter · 16/03/2010 14:32

thanks tillybea, DP is always telling me to drink more anyway, and I've been soooo thirsty the last few days, so think maybe that's it - so I've now got a HUGE glass of water on my desk (shame the loo is downstairs, envisaging lots of exercise this afternoon!)

one more thing I'd appreciate advice on from you all who aren't first-timers - we're supposed to be getting married in Sept (yep, pg not exactly planned!), so do we go ahead with it then and I'll be looking like a whale, but won't have the ds or dd to look after, or put it off until 6 months after EDD? nothing paid for yet, so won't lose a deposit

Romilly70 · 16/03/2010 14:43

thanks Tillybea the writing down questions is a good idea. (ps Romilly is not my real name, but I like it too...! )

silverboots I think your adrenaline kicks in about 4am and wakes you. I seem to be sleeping in shifts now. Hope scan is fine for you

addictedtothefirsttrimester · 16/03/2010 15:52

hi all, sorry not had time to read all the posts just got back from my scan all ok but a few problens with size and dates.

does anyone else here have a septate uterus?

hmmSleep · 16/03/2010 15:59

jellybean I got married when I was 8 months pregnant, was great, in fact did everything a bit topsy turvy, pregnant, then honeymoon (wanted to go somewhere exotic whilst I could still fly) then wedding! Was lovely to be able to splash out on one last relaxing holiday before dd was born. The only downside was not being able to have a drink at my own wedding, but then I'm not a big drinker anyway. Think the adrenaline kicked in too, I was in 3 inch heals all day, we had a ceilidh, 3 venues, and I was still going at 2am!

So I'd say go for it, you'll be more tired 6 months after the baby arriving than a month before, the last thing you'll want to be doing is planning a wedding. If you stick to September you'll have a lovely pregnant glow.

hmmSleep · 16/03/2010 16:01

Great news addicted, never heard of a septate uterus?
