yes dieting and loosing weight...i wish!

right ladies i live in jeans, t-shirts and hoodies but i can no longer squese the t-shirts and hoodies over my ever increasing bust and the jeans just wont do up over a petete little bump that is probably more fat than baby. so ladies do i buy a bigger size of clothes or do i buy maternity, i dont really want to wear maternity because 7 weeks is stupidly early to wear them but if i buy a bigger size in a few weeks tiem i will be re-buying maternity arggh what do i do?

(i should probably point out that i'm only a size 8 and elasticated stuff, such as jogging bottoms i wear at night still fit, and i have an old pair of size 10 jeans which are also a bit snug )

i'm going to have to go with maternity arent i.

gingertoo · 15/03/2010 10:10

at you being a size 8 addicted! I'm a size 14/16 before I start expanding!

Only trouble with maternity clothes now is that you might have the opposite problem in that they are too big (as they are made to accomodate your huuuge bump at the end)even the adjustable ones..

I tend to go with low waisted non-maternity jeans for as long as I can. I wear them low, under my 'bump' and then buy a pack of 'bump bands' (New Look have them 3 for £10) which I wear over my jeans but under my top to stop my (not too atrractive) stomach from showing! Although I favour the 'hippychick' type look normally so I wear alot of dresses over my jeans anyway so they fit for a while too.

gingertoo · 15/03/2010 10:13

and if you buy a couple of pairs of non maternity, next size up jeans you could always wear them after your baby is born until you get back into your size 8's

addictedtothefirsttrimester · 15/03/2010 10:19

gingertoo, i wont be trying to get back in to size 8! i'm not that bothered about my weight and size, just wish i wasnt putting so much on now that i have to buy new clothes.

but i have the dilemma of what size do i go for, teh size up will fit exactly and if i keep going at this rate in 3 weeks not fit any more but 2 sizes up will be too big and fall down.

addictedtothefirsttrimester · 15/03/2010 10:21

maybe i'm making a big issue out of something that isnt! i'm so fustrated, scared, confused and angry today and i dont even know why

gingertoo · 15/03/2010 10:28

Oh no! What's making you feel like that? Anything specific or just unexplained-hormonal-feeling crap?

gingertoo · 15/03/2010 10:33

And as for the clothes - what about going one size up but in a style that will accomodate more tummy?
I'm thinking:
empire line tops
longer jersey tshirts
tea dresses
wrap dress
empire line dress
leggings (not for me but might be ok for you!)
low waist jeans

hmmSleep · 15/03/2010 10:47

addicted My previous pregnancies I wore these

So comfy, I'm usually a size 8 too, and they fit great as I was expanding, and I don't just mean on the tummy!

tanmu82 · 15/03/2010 11:03

I'm usually size 8 too, but they are now all too tight - ALREADY! I can't wait for warmer weather so I can live in my linen trousers (non mat - size 10, bit big now, but will fit great soon enough), my maxi dress (also non mat) and skirts. I don't want to buy mat clothes yet either but I'm expanding a bit quicker than I thought....can't work out if my belly is just getting bigger because of all the 'treats' I've been allowing since Christmas (yes, THAT long!) or maybe I could be having twins cos I'm STARVING most of the time lol (and they run in my family) Now that would be a scary thought.....

umf · 15/03/2010 11:09

And another one!

Second time. Not looking forward to the sickness, which is already starting, or the gigantic size and creaky pelvis at the end. But very much to the bump and getting my maternity clothes out again - I actually quite liked them.

Had DS3 at awful London hospital, now moved to town with good hosp, so hoping either will be better here or homebirth.

Last time was back-to-back/posterior presentation, so this time plan to spend the last 4 months crawling around on knee pads. Any other tips for avoiding posterior pres??

Afternoon all

Kyuri - I can?t concentrate at work either. My mind has been whizzing since getting the BFP on Friday night and could do with a day on my own to just let it all sink in and indulge in a bit of mum to be stuff. Popped into Sainsbury?s this morning on the way to work and got some more Prenatal vits to keep in my desk, but of course now am going to be paranoid about people seeing me with them. I find telling people a real ?issue?, not sure why, but I hate the thought that people may think I?m a lesser worker for getting pregnant or that they?re going to think ?again!!? as it?s my 3rd. I know as soon as I?ve spluttered the words out I?ll be fine, but I do dread the moment. I?m so pleased of places like this though, where I can freely talk about it. When are people going to tell everyone?

Hmm - Yep, hoping for another vbac again as well. I know lots of people who recovered fantastically after a c-section, but I just felt awful, but after the vbac I felt great. I?m sure the difference was also down to having gone through 12hrs of labour before the complications that led to the c-section, compared to 4hrs with the vbac, and also knowing what to expect. I?d love another birth like my last, quick!

Lots of talk of a home birth here. I think I would consider a home birth, but tbh, it?s the mess that puts me off. Not sure I?d want to risk my carpet or my bed linen. And having had a c-section anyway, I?d worry about things going wrong. Also if all goes well, I?ll be home after a sleep and baby?s had a feed at hospital, so that?s not too long away from home.

Woke up this morning with that awful taste in your mouth that you can get when pg. Vile ? as though I?d spent the night chewing on rusty nails..bleugh. I also had a bit of queasiness too, but nothing too bad. Since getting into work though, I?ve noticed the boobs are feeling a bit tingly. I have visions of them expanding before people?s eyes ? it feels that way, but I?m sure all people will notice is the stain on my jumper instead.

As for clothes? guess who sold all their maternity clothes after their last pregnancy?? Hmm, I had a mad moment when I thought I didn?t want anymore, so I?m going to have to go shopping again. Wrap dresses will definitely be on the list this time. I would so love a floaty max dress for the summer so if anyone sees any nice ones out there please do shout out. Next have a mid season sale on at the end of the month so there might be some cheap mat stuff there. I?m hoping I?ll be able to make do with my non-mat clothes until the warmer weather ? bump bands to the rescue, I think, to tide me over.

fifisboys · 15/03/2010 12:13

wow this thread moves fast

I've spent the entire weekend with the worst sickness ive ever experienced I've not ate anything proper since thursday night but im feeling a bit better now..my mothers day was spent with my head down the toilet!!

WIth regards to clothes, i've had to go a size bigger already on the bottoms, this is my 5th pregnancy but 3rd baby so my stomach muscles are non existent

I will be having a cs with this baby, i had emcs with ds1 after 15 hours labour and very little progression, and elcs with ds2, so i think another cs would be the best option for me.

Welcome to all the newbies

pyjamalover · 15/03/2010 12:17

I just found out this weekend I'm pregnant, EDD 17th nov - it's my first pregnancy. Never knew about the weird taste in mouth thing being a symptom, thats all I've had. Otherwise feel entirely normal which is weird given what's going on inside!

Kyuri · 15/03/2010 12:31

Tillybea we haven't told anyone yet, and planning on keeping it to ourselves until the magic 12 weeks are up. Mostly because of previous MC so don't want to tempt fate. Would ideally like to wait until wk 14/15 as could then tell my parents face-to-face (they live abroad and we have a trip planned).

Even though it will be the first grandchild for my parents, am kind of dreading sharing the news.....the problem is that my EDD is 5 days before my sister's wedding (also abroad) and I am supposed to be chief bridesmaid. Whoops! So it's pretty certain that I won't even make her wedding, never mind be able to carry out my bridesmaidly duties. Feel pretty sad about it, and then guilty for feeling sad cos lucky to have fallen pregnant!

rachaelsara · 15/03/2010 12:45

Hi Loopymumsy! Congratulations!!!!! Never say never hey? Hope you're all well? We're moved to Northamptonshire, close to the rest of the world (and Mat's work!). I'm still a doula, though no work lined up in these parts as yet, once I get started I'm hoping to get a reputation! Good luck with number 4, it's fabulous!

hmmSleep · 15/03/2010 12:47

That's reminded me, we gave ALL baby stuff away after ds was 12 months, I was adamant I wasn't going to have a third, but dh talked me round. So if all goes well this time we'll either be buying it all again, eek, or hoping those we gave it to haven't yet passed it on or indeed need it again themselves, just toted up, probably about £500 worth of stuff !!

MarthaFarquhar · 15/03/2010 13:36

same here hmmsleep - gave away all maternity gear and baby stuff saying "never again" .

I'm sure what we can't borrow we can get cheaply on ebay. bring on the health in pregnancy grant .

Tillybea · 15/03/2010 13:45

What is that Health in Pregnancy grant? Never had it last pregnancies. I had a look in the govt website and it said something about needing/getting health advice from a mw or GP. Bizarre. How can you quantify that or do we just get it automatically if we ask our mw's nicely?

gingertoo · 15/03/2010 14:26

Health in pregnancy grant as far as I know is available to everyone regardless of income once you get to 25 wks pregnant. If you go to the Direct Gov website you can register and they'll send you a reminder when you are 25wks so that you can then claim it. It's £190.

I'll be glad of it too - DC3 was supposed to be our last so we got rid of everything and here we are expecting DC4

harmonyb23 · 15/03/2010 14:41

AAAAAHHHH!! Just been to the Doctors to send my details off to the midwife and stuff and have been told that due to having an ectopic back in November 2009 I will have to have a scan tomorrow to determine whether this pregnancy is ectopic or not. I am soooo nervous and worried that this pregnancy will be ectopic too... Will the embryo even show up on a scan at just 5 weeks?

I suppose it is good in a way as it will mean if it is ectopic it has been caught early, and if it isn't I can actually stop worrying and enjoy this pregnancy... Wish me luck ladies!!!

NBelle · 15/03/2010 15:02

Wow! I think keeping up with this thread might be a full time job, but considering how much actual work I have done today it could be my new job.

I had the dentist today for a check up and she wanted to give me an x-ray to check on a root canal I had done previously but i had to proudly say, no sorry I am pregnant It felt nice to tell someone and she was so nice and was chatting away about it. The only other person I have told is my boss but she knew we were having treatment for IVF so she needed the update. My boss is lovely so at least that was an easy.

My clothes are tight already but mainly because when i was on the IVF drugs i put on 8lbs in 10 days! I had hoped this was just water retention and it would disappear quite soon after I finished the drugs but no such luck. I am 11 st 10 lbs and 5ft 4ins so an extra 8lbs is not good, Oh well I can worry about it when the baby comes.

We made our appointment today for an 8 week scan to check that everything is where it should be, since it was an IVF cyle, it's not for over three weeks yet!

As long as everything goes OK I am not sure how long i can wait to tell people? With the rate that my boobs are growing people will either suspect I am pregnant or had a boob job

Nice to hear everyones updates and finally be on a pregnancy thread!

Take care

NBelle · 15/03/2010 15:04
