Funny you should say that addictedtomn. I'm normally starving all of the time when I'm pregnant (3 boys) but this time I can hardly face food and have lost 5lbs in the last two weeks so I'm wondering whether this one is a girl!

LadyBee · 14/03/2010 16:21

gingertoo that sound like a lovely mother's day.

Oh, and that happened to me last time around - I completely went off food, ended up losing close to 16lbs in the first two months. I had a boy

So far that hasn't happened to me yet - I'm about 5+4 I think, and I don't think my nausea got bad until about 7 weeks last time. But I've got the tireds - dragging at 7pm, manage to stay awake til 10 if I'm trying. But then I wake at 4:30 and struggle to go back to sleep.

Boobs seem to have gotten a bit bigger but not a lot - they were big to start off and I only went up about 1 size, cup and back.

I'm starting to get way too far in my thinking about birth (love the one born programme too) - I know I want a doula this time, and that I want to go for a vbac, but I'm already trying to decide about fighting for homebirth or not. Sooooo too early to be thinking about this stuff.

gingertoo · 14/03/2010 16:37

ladybee you're messing with my 'It's-a-girl' theory!!!

cluelessnchaos · 14/03/2010 16:43

honeymoo thats my point exactly, it is soo real, that is exactly what it is like, privatedancer when I have been in labour I am head down and get on with it, really introspective and quiet, it is right now I am thinking I cant do it again, saying that I am with you ladybee and really considering the homebirth, I have had 3 fairly straightforwrd births so unless any complications come up I might just do it at home.

addictedtomn · 14/03/2010 17:35

maybe it is a girl then ladybee right now i have eaten so much i feel really sick! not morning sick sick but i cant fit any more in sick - i probably shouldnt have eaten the easter egg

one born every minute is giving me the confidence to actually give birth, i was really scared but watching this searies and seeing every type of birth there is (in hospital anyway) has started to make me tink its not that scay and i can do it after all!

PrivetDancer · 14/03/2010 17:39

Sorry clueless, I meant to say that to honeymoo.

I planned for homebirth last time (had a pool in the living room, the works) but my waters went 2 days before I went into labour so had to go to hosp for anti-b drip. In the end I didn't mind being in hospital. Not sure whether to try for home or not this time.

Happy Mothers Day everyone. Got a beautiful glittery card and mini basket made from clay which had a handle but it fell off. Will treasure it forever obviously.

Been to Longleat today - beautiful day.

Interesting about feeling ravo. I think I'm having another boy, was starving all the time last time and feel the same again. Not much MS.

MS74 · 14/03/2010 19:04

Hi all,

I think I'm due 3 November (need to have scan to be sure) and this will be my first so v excited!

So far I've only had sore boobs and been a bit tired but haven't experienced really bad nausea...hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones!

Look forward to sharing the next 7 months sharing experiences.

M

happy75 · 14/03/2010 19:23

Hello!

Just found out I'm pregnant. We've been trying a while but for some reason it is still a bit of a shock. I seem to fluctuate between feeling pregnant on some days - sore breast, tired, thristy, needing the loo, had a couple of nauseous moments but nothing serious - and other days I feel totally normal (like today - breast don;t seem to hurt at all)

This is the first so not really sure if this is normal or not.

Haven't been to the doctors yet - might book in this week.

dh is working out of the country at the moment and will only be back occasionally through the pregnancy so quite nervous about doing it all alone - he's excited and supportive but still worried how he will react to my changing body.

Sorry for prattling on - good to find others in the same boat.

Gaga82 · 14/03/2010 19:39

Hi!

Another newbie here (27 years old)! Found out I am pregnant for the first time 4 days ago. Happened in first month of trying, so feel quite shocked really, but very happy. Just keep doing tests to convince myself, feel pretty similar to happy75 in terms of symptoms. Booked in for drs this week but think due date will be 16th November.

Now to go and learn all the abbreviations for this place!!

Hello Gaga 82 good to read your post! - I calculated I should be due November 14th. Glad to hear you're feeling similar - it's all a little confusing symptom wise so hoping doctor will make me chill a bit.

Tillybea · 14/03/2010 20:20

Oh boy can you lot talk - hope I can keep up!

Hope you all had a Happy Mother's day.

Funny you talking about One Born.. DH said he'll be watching it in a different light this week. At the moment, the labour isn't the one thing I'm worrying about. I've had 2 completely different labours (one emergency c-sections, the other a quick 4hrs VBAC) and noone really knows how it's going to go - we can hope though!

I'm also suffering from a few aches and pains. Hoping it's just from lifting my girls rather than anything untoward. You can't help be nervous can you? Still lots of tiredness. Dh convinced me to go out for a walk today which I'm glad I did as otherwise I think I'd have collapsed on the sofa and would never have got up!

hmmSleep · 14/03/2010 20:46

Tillybea your situation sounds so similar to mine, also have 2 dcs, dd, just turned 4 and ds 2.5, also had emergency c-section followed by 4hr VBAC! Really hoping for another vb, hated the aftermath of the emergency section!

And now I'm off to bed, not tired, just want to stop feeling sick again .

mrsws · 14/03/2010 21:15

Happy mummy's day to you all x

I found out last week that I am pregnant after a very strange few months. I had actually just been referred to the hospital for further tests (abnormal cycles). After some breast tingling' and eating like a horse I thought I should do a test before I rang for my appointment. Got the shock of my life when I got a BFP! I have been referred for an early scan but at the moment I am due 1st Nov.

So here I am to join in if its ok?

I'm abit worried this time - with DS I ended up with CS (gestational diabetes, persistant breach and low fluid!) but had an IM who held our hands through the whole 9 months! she was great! But not sure we can afford one this time tho!

Anyway... sorry to ramble!

Congratulations to us all x

PS Anyone else STARVING!!!!

craftykamo · 15/03/2010 06:57

Oh I'm eating far too much. Had been dieting while TTC as I'd been reading far too many scare stories about being big and pregnant - but they said it'd take me longer to get pregnant, so shows what they know! Again, working in a hospital has its benefits, as I've had a sneaky look on our intranet at maternity's policy on bigger mums and it looks like it won't affect things too much anyway - as long as I don't get too much bigger!

One question for all you ladies who've done this before - what did you do about "doing the deed" in the first few months? We tried last night but I just couldn't relax, read everywhere that it shouldn't be a problem, but it'd be reassuring to know what you all think?

Hi crafty, congrats!

I've been on a diet since the new year too and am actually planning to stick to it for now, at least for first trimester. Saying that I have allowed myself a few treats over the weekend, but starting afresh today. My first baby was built on a diet of muffins and cream cakes, so keen not to repeat that

RE the sex, personally I think you have to kind of grit your teeth and do it the first time (gently)! Once first time safely out of the way you might feel a bit better. Or you could just do other stuff for the first trimester! I was much more into it by second trimester, by the end of the third it was a chore again and we were just doing it to try and get the baby out!

Mrsws, congrats! Does that mean you are likey to get gestational diabetes again, if you've had it before?

Hello all, Just added my details in above. Wow look at the length of this thread! Privet & Crafty I am going to be starting back at Slimming World soon. I got my old consultant to send me over the info. I was on a diet when I conceived too - the Cambridge diet- really strict shakes & soups - not good for growing baby beans so now I am gonna go onto SW once I have seen the midwife. Hope she feels relieved rather than wanting to hit me with the fat stick! Would really like an active/ water birth but not sure if I would be high risk due to my weight

craftykamo · 15/03/2010 08:26

Ta folks, might try again later in the week if I feel up to it - otherwise I'll be telling DH to hold fire for two months!

I'm trying to stick to healthy food too - but I only seem to feel either stuffed full and queasy or, more commonly, starving and queasy. Rakusens crackers are my saviours at the moment - only 18 calories each!

Kyuri · 15/03/2010 08:37

Morning all. Anyone else arrived into work and feeling like they just can't be bothered? Finding it difficult to find my mojo at the moment given the significant secret distraction! I'm officially 7 weeks today - hurrah. Looking forward to the scan on Wednesday, all being as it should we will hopefully see a HB and then I think it will feel more real....

In other idle wonder-ments, has anyone had a home birth when they lived on the 3rd floor of a building with no lifts? I'd really like to consider one but not sure if the midwife will laugh in my face.

hmmSleep · 15/03/2010 09:05

Kyuri I haven't, but I do have a friend who had a home water birth in a 6th floor flat with no lift! They had to get a surveyor in to make sure the floors would withstand the weight of the birthing pool.

Must admit I personally hate the idea of a home birth, but have plenty of friends who loved it!

As for all you dieters, a nice healthy bout of morning sickness works wonders, My Mum came over for mothers' day yesterday and commented I'd lost weight, I only saw her a week ago!

gingertoo · 15/03/2010 09:21

Losing weight here too hmmSleep!

I've done that through all of my previous pregnancies - I lose weight first before I start to gain.
It does have it's benefits in that it decreases my overall weight gain and my pre-preg clothes fit me a bit longer!
