Libras - I used the sickness bands in my first pregnancy. I suffered from terrible travel sickness and nausea, and they helped for that, not sure I'd say they'd stop you being sick though. Boots ones are quite expensive. You can get 'own brand' ones for about £3, just need to shop in local chemists, especially now the summer holiday season is getting closer, there will be lots more around.

fromheretomaternity · 13/03/2010 21:09

Went on a short walk today (1hr) which involved lifting my DS in a few places over some muddy bits... felt I pulled a muscle, got really exhausted at the end and when I got home I had some abdominal pains.

They went after about 15 mins but worried now that I overdid it... Didn't think I had to be too careful at this point about exercise / lifting but is that wrong? Could I have done any damage?

funbun · 13/03/2010 22:45

Hello, can I join. FOund out yesterday, think I'm about 5 weeks. This is no.2. My DS is 2 and a half.

funbun · 13/03/2010 22:51

Not very good on the acronyms. Had to look it up but had a BFP yesterday afternoon and again this morning.
DH is a bit shocked as took several months last time but this time we were 2nd time lucky. He's been pretty quiet.... coming round though.... fella's take time don't they

hmmSleep · 14/03/2010 09:31

fhtm I have been told many times that the reason you're not supposed to do heavy lifting in early pregnancy is because of the damage it can do to you, not sure of the science but something to do with hormones weakening muscles (i think to enable expansion of womb etc)which means you're more likely to pull something, and that it really can't harm the baby in any way. Hope that puts your mind at rest, perhaps someone with better knowledge will fill you in a bit better!

Hope you haven't pulled anything too lasting.

Welcome newcomers!

its also to do with the back muscles and accomodating the baby. like others have said the baby is pretty secure, its just damage to you and not the baby, but do try and take it easy use it as an excuse

loopy are you 4 weeks pregnant or is it 4 weeeks untill something? [thicko]

Crikey, that is a looong list, and only the 14th!

Thanks boots, was contemplating doing it earlier but it all looked a bit exhausting!

Booboobedoo · 14/03/2010 12:45

Happy Mothers Day everyone! To all you first-timers, I'm sure your lentil-sized babies are feeling very grateful in there.

I'm seven weeks tomorrow, and feeling like CRAP. Pretty sure I've got a chest infection, which is compounding the MS and just.... urgghhh.

All those of you hoping for MS, just try and wish for the kind where you get a little wavelet of nausea at some not-to-incovenient-moment, and then are fine for the rest of the day, because it's awful.

Got a nice card and some choccies this morning. DH dragged DS out of the room (the telly was on so he didn't want to go). I heard lots of whispering, then he walked in holding the chocs and staring at the telly. After a bit of nudging from Daddy, he remembered to give them to me.

DH: "What do you say to Mummy?"
DS: (Absentmindedly) "Thank you".

(That's what he usually has to say).

Eventually I got a "Happy Mothers Day" and a snotty kiss.

Threelittleducks · 14/03/2010 13:23

Happy Mother's Day!!

Hope it's a good one for all concerned

I woke this morning with what can only be described as humungaboobs!
Still pretty tender, but they look awesome! Going to enjoy them for a bit before they onslaught of more growth and bra-buying extravaganzas.
Love the boobs - hate the waves of sickness. Hopefully I can stave it off for our family gathering this noon. God knows how I am going to turn down a drink without looking suss. My family have ths thing where all the ladies and men get together on Mother's day and the women get a glass of wine topped up reguarly through the noon.

Think me and hubby wil be doing a Tom and Lynette Scavo (the scene where she is preggers and gives Tom all her wine - he gets drunk and makes a tit of himself. SHe looks like a seasoned drinker).

PrivetDancer · 14/03/2010 13:49

Gawd, there's going to be a lot of us by the end of the month!

So how many of us are here because of 'one born every minute'?? I swear that programme is going to cause a baby boom! After the first episode we had the talk about whether / when to try for another bb and here we are

addictedtomn · 14/03/2010 14:02

lol, privetdancer, i'm addicted to that programme at the moment, although we were trying before the series started.

threelittleducks my boobs have got so big they can barely squeese in to my bra i started with 32dd i hate to think what they are now!

tanmu82 · 14/03/2010 14:20

lol, that scene was a classic....I don't see why not drinking has to be such an obvious sign of secret pregnancy though... I just say that I have an early start or that I am cutting down and no-one bats an eyelid...

I will be 7 weeks on Tuesday, but I am not getting much MS at all. In fact, I did another pg test this morning, because mostly I am just tired. I was so relieved when the line appeared even before the test line did! So, instead of worrying about lack of symptoms, I'm going to enjoy not feeling terrible, because I sure did with my other 2!

clearBlueSavannah · 14/03/2010 14:25

You gals sure like to chatter - dunno how I'm gonna keep up with this thread!

Still all feels weird and unreal but already we're kind of making plans (e.g. Christmas and a newborn which is also strange.) Feel excited and nervous and scared and TIRED!

Congrats all for your BFPS - hope to be able to keep up with you all.

I am living in a diff area than I was with my first pg, so I am wondering where to give birth - there are really only 2 options = one 20 mins away (CL) and one 50 mins away (MWL) and I dunno which to go for. Last birth was q quick.

Hope you're all having lovely Sundays.

privatedancer one born is scaring the living crap out of me, I keep watching it from behind a cushion saying "I dont know if I cant do that again", with dh chuckling away

rollerbaby · 14/03/2010 15:17

Booboo that is SO sweet!!! It won't be long before they're old enough to make you breakfast in bed... start training early I say.

Clueless having not been through this before, I am actually liking it and must say finding it jaw droppingly addictive and really quite informative (probably because I have no idea what hell they are going through). I thought the last girls paramedic mum was amazing and exactly what you need to coach you through... I can imagine just wanting to give up...

Clueless, I think it's actually a classic sign of transition to say you can't do it and want to give up, so yes you probably will at some point!
I remember very earnestly telling my husband I was too tired and I didn't want the baby anymore and I just wanted to go home and try again tomorrow. He said I couldn't though

gingertoo · 14/03/2010 15:53

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mums and mums-to-be!

I've had a lovely mum's day so far. Was woken up by 3 excited boys jumping on my bed clutching various sticky, glittery cards and presents.
Down to church where my eldest read a poem that he had written about me which made me sob (in a nice way!)
Cooked lunch for my mum and all the familyand then went for a long walk across the fields with family and dogs.

All good - but exhausting! All I want to do now is sleep! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Is everyone else finding that they are completely exhausted or am I just a lightweight??!!

harmonyb23 · 14/03/2010 16:05

Hi Gingertoo I am also feeling constantly tired. I had a huge lie in on Saturday but still found myself falling asleep about 10:30pm last night [which is really odd for me].

ThreeLittleDucks how many weeks are you now? I am really worried my boobs will start expanding, and I am already a 32F to start with... Your post made me start to panic at the thought of having to buy new bras... They are soo expensive!!!

Happy Mother's day to all!!! x x x

addictedtomn · 14/03/2010 16:05

ok thats it, i've had enough. at 2pm i ate a full rather large roast dinner and polished it all off, then at 3.30 i was really hungry so ate lots of toast and now i'm really hungry again, i really could eat a whole roast again.

I,ve decided this little one has to be a boy, because a girl would be more considerate and understand that mummy needs food too!

Now do i make pasta or more toast, hmm
