Thanks Floweryogi- congrats to you too and like you, have been getting a bit teary in front of the computer reading other posts.I am off work with a cold (!) today- can't believe how it's making me feel wiped out and obviously haven't told anyone at work yet so feeling like a bit of a wimp. It's so nice to be able to talk to people (albeit anonymously) at such an early stage and not have to come up with excuses for feeling ill/tired/not drinking etc!
Yes, Ebb, will send you a snotty hug and a get well soon too x

floweryogi · 11/03/2010 12:12

Hmmmm... yes - it must be so hard keeping it quiet from work colleagues. I work for myself so I don't have that problem but I teach yoga so suddenly I'm not demonstrating certain postures and I'm feeling self conscious about my boobs - roll on the 2nd Trimester when I can spread the news!

Funny, a friend of a friend who is 13 weeks has had to keep it quiet from her small office team. She was soooooo sick all the time, manically chewing gum and only wants to eat McDonalds and drink fat coke when she usually eats so healthily! She was like "what must they think of me?" and then she told them (such a relief) and they hadn't even noticed!

Thanks for the welcome Honeymoo and thanks for setting up our group! xx

gingertoo · 11/03/2010 12:32

mumcha That's good news.

Well, I'm feeling a bit better than I did this morning - thanks for your kind messages
The bleeding has stopped and the cramps have subsided to a dull ache so, fingers crossed, it's my usual early pregnancy scare and all will be well!!
Despite have symptoms like this during all of my pregnancies I still worry

Nice to see more November mums-to-be joining the thread

And nice to see some other brave souls mums expecting their 4th like me. Don't know many people with 4 or more in RL - people are going to think I'm mad!

Anyone else as restless as me? Each day is just draging by - I just want wk 12 to come along so I can relax and settle into this pregnancy. There are so many sad stories on MN that I find myself panicking from one minute to the next. I have gotten myself obsessed with reading about foetal development stages and wishing time away so I can have my booking in appointment and scan (which I still as yet have no date for)just for reassurance that I am actually pregnant and that things will be ok!

What are you guys doing to pass the time?

clearBlueSavannah · 11/03/2010 12:43

Hello
May I join you?
This is a long thread, Got a BFP today.
AF due today and I am feeling a bit period painy and have NO symptoms at all other than having been a complete hormonal state over the last fortnight and a bit knackered.
On the test it was there right away - I'd just had time to wash my hands and there it was.
Due 17 November
Really can't quite believe it.
This is dc2 but I was in another borough before and can't remember what I need to do.
Would like to make some more mates so am going to sort nct right now
do I make an appt at GP?
What else?
Will go back and read through everything now.

Tanmus82- am mainly passing the time by eating, treating DH like a slave and trying not to obsess over everything; not doing very well though! I would just like to start getting scans etc and be able to spread the news. I know it's terrible to wish the weeks away, but like you I am just sooo excited!
clearBlue- in some areas you can just refer yourself to a midwife but goodness knows how- couldn't find any info for my city so just went to my GP.

I've managed to by pass the GP stage and will be having in my booking in appointment next week where the midwife said she will scan me which I was surprised but pleased with. I have never had any problems so wasn't expecting an early scan, I think I'll only be 7 weeks.

I've had to tell work already as my job involved heavy lifting so I had to be moved onto lighter duties, word soon spread and now most people know which is scary as it's so early.

hmmSleep · 11/03/2010 13:32

Great news Muncha, hope the next scan and bloods go as well .

That sounds awful Ebb, just what you need when already feeling a bit tired and rough isn't it!

Managed to eat some lunch today, really had to force it down but feel much better for it, yey! Went to bed at 8:30 last night, wasn't tired, just wanted to go to sleep so the sickness would go away, then woke up at 5 am and threw up! Going to put a packet of crackers by the bed and try and nibble on them when I wake in the night. Was reading through the morning sickness advice on mn and this made me laugh;

And a little self-pity probably is in order, as this mum explains:

"My aunt recommended sitting on the bathroom floor wailing 'oh please, just let me die'. I felt more comforted by her telling me that than by all those who offered more conventional advice." Eemie

So very true, people can go stick their ginger and sea-sickness bands!

gingertoo · 11/03/2010 14:16

Thanks for the link loopymummy will come over and say Hi

Feeling you pain hmmsleep re the sickness. I did my deliveries today (I'm an Avon Lady) with a bucket in the back of my car
Only had to use it once though

Your post has made me think about the lifting I do TalkingBack. You should see how much bubble bath these old ladies buy and it weighs a ton! I had SPD last pg so I want to be extra careful this time. Might have to get an old lady shopping trolley to take it round - very glamorous!

Playingatmotherhood · 11/03/2010 15:42

Hi all, can I join you're thread?

Technically (according to the silly wheel) my EDD is 27th October but I never have a 28 day cycle so am sure it will be a November date when it comes to the scan.

I'm 27 and have one DS already who is 1, so if this bean sticks they'll be a 20 months age gap.

Went to the gp yesterday and got a "you're brave" sort of look and not much else. Wish I didn't have to bother, they are never any help. I got home and just rang the MW for a booking in apt, got to wait till 10 weeks though so haven't got an actual apt date yet.

No sickness or nausea yet, I know its early days and I'm just trying to enjoy it while it lasts but there is a little part of me that is worrying as this time in my last pg I was being sick 4 times a day.

Re: telling work, I don't have that problem this time but last time i told my boss as soon as I started being sick. I wanted to make sure that if someone walked past the loo and heard me that the rumour would not spread before he knew. Plus my head was anyhwere but work as I was feeling so rough so I wanted him to know the reason why my performance might have been below par in case I made some kind of stupid mistake. It paid dividends though as by 10 weeks I was signed off work for a week and then my boss and I arranged for me to work a 4 day week for the next month, I don't think I would have got through it otherwise. I just told my colleages that I had lots of holiday to use so had decided to make the most of the summer and have long weekends I waited to tell the rest of my colleagues till after my 13 wk scan and none of them had guessed despite drinking far less tea than normal and constantly leaving the room in a hurry to be sick!

Pidgin · 11/03/2010 16:00

hi all, great to see such a nice long list!

Glad things went well for you mumcha, sounds promising.

Well done on the lunch hmmsleep!

I had my scan and all seems OK - no heartbeat yet but the doc thinks it's too soon - I'm 6 weeks exactly going by LMP but only 5+3 going by when I ov'd. So I'm feeling reassured. They booked me in for another scan in two weeks so should gat an hb then.

Hope the MS eases for those suffering from it.

craftykamo · 11/03/2010 16:44

Hi all, can I jump on? Got my BFP yesterday after only two months of trying so can't help feeling it's been a bit too easy so far! Bang on 4 weeks today - is this too early to be getting symptoms like MS? Feeling really rough but can't tell if it's pg or if I'm actually poorly! Feeling pretty anxious all in all, have known quite a few people who miscarried their first pg (thankfully all have healthy babies now) and DH is refusing to get excited as he now thinks that's what happens to first pregnancies... me, I'm just worried I'll sneeze too hard and it'll get dislodged. I'm crazy.

Craftykamo pg1 Age 32 EDD 18 November

floweryogi · 11/03/2010 17:15

Hi, Tanmus82 asked what we're doing to pass the time - I liked Redbird's eating and trying not to obsess theories!

I'm finding it hard to focus on anything but being pregnant! Looking at this site has been one of my occupations and lying on the floor relaxing I've also been doing some meditation (God - do I sound really sad?!) it's helping me be more present and not obsess about things that could be. Also lying. listening to my breath with my hands on my belly sending positive thoughts to the bean.

Trying not to spend too much time looking at nice baby things, buggies, maternity clothes and some nice wool to knit a lovely blanket!

mumcha - good luck with the next scan - but sounds good.

I want a scan!!!!

Playingatmotherhood · 11/03/2010 18:12

Crafty - I know exactly how you feel. I am surrounded by people who have struggled to get pg/had several mcs and you just kinda assume its not all that easy and it will take time or it will all go wrong. I got pg instantly with DS and was waiting for it to go wrong the whole time as it had all happened too easily but it never did. Even this time round I was sure it would take longer as I was so lucky last time, but once again it happened straight away. Still can't shift the feeling its all going to go wrong though

Flower - waiting for that scan is hard. Last time I caved and paid £50 for a private scan at 8 weeks, as if you see a heart beat at 8 weeks I think they say 98% of pg are sucessful. I am so tempted this time as well, even though its now £60 its hard to have the patience to wait.

hmmSleep · 11/03/2010 18:33

Don't want to worry people, but am I the only one who doesn't want an early scan?

When I miscarried last year I found out at my scan, which I had at 10 weeks, the sonographer said I had miscarried at 10 weeks , which makes sense as I then went on to mc naturally 2 days later.
So I guess I'm worried if I have an early scan, all will be seem OK, then I'll be really shocked if I then miscarry a few weeks later.

fifisboys · 11/03/2010 19:09

Hello to all the newbies

hmmsleep I know what you mean with the early scans, although i had mine yesterday, im still terrified and know that things can still happen, even though once the heartbeat has been seen the odds do drop further.

mumcha Good luck with your next scan

Is everyone else struggling to stay awake past 7pm??
I cant keep my eyes open, ds2 has been bad wih a sickness bug so ive been up and down with him, plus my hourly visits to he loo through the night don't help much

I am not planning having an early scan, partly because I tend to obsess about things and it would only satisfy me for the minutes I was in there, and a little while after, I kind of go on automatic pilot until I can feel movements, on a totally different subject what the hell is this heartburn malarky all about, I have never had heart burn before.

craftykamo · 11/03/2010 19:43

I work in a hospital and was debating today whether to pop down to the early pregnancy unit and find out about when I could get a reassurance scans. However, I just know I wouldn't be able to stop at just one! I think I'd want reassurance every week, especially with it being available in the same building!

So, for the moment I'm thinking I'll just sit it out - though I might change my mind in a few weeks...
