Hi, sorry to hear so many of you are suffering ms, at least it's a postive sign!

I have no ms or nausea but I feel absolulty starving, even after I've eaten a full meal I feel as if I could eat it all again! Every half hour I'm getting empty stomach cramps - trying to eat healthy but I'm getting sick of apples! Would love suggestions of healthy snacks, I put on four stone in my last pregnacy and it's taken me 2 years to lose (almost all of) it - really want to eat healthily and keep active thoughout this pregnancy.

My booking in appointment is next week, I'll be 9 weeks by then but it won't seem real till I have that first scan!

marypoppinswannabe · 10/03/2010 19:40

Hello all!

Can I join in? Am new to mumsnet so please excuse me if I don't get the lingo right straightaway.

I'm expecting my fourth baby on November 3rd. I'm pleased to see a couple of you are also on number 4 - I don't feel such a freak! I'm pretty nervous this time as I had a missed miscarriage in the autumn, having been lucky enough never to have experienced anything like that before. Am v excited in spite of nerves though!

My older children are 8 and 6 (boys) and 3 (a girl) and I work part-time. I've never had morning sickness (there's always a first time!) but I'm absolutely knackered. I slept for an hour and a half this afternoon while my dd gawped at cbeebies. Felt v guilty afterwards but much refreshed!

Looking forward to chatting to you all. It will be especially nice to be able to talk openly about pregnancy during the next couple of months when it's (mostly) a secret. I hate being dishonest with everyone around me!

marypoppinswannabe · 10/03/2010 19:58

Forgot to say, am 37.

rollerbaby · 10/03/2010 20:27

Hmm I feel so bad for you, you poor poor thing. That sounds rubbish. Are you stuffing yourself with as much food as possible? I literally eat 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, cake, ANYTHING to keep the nausea at bay!
I was so smug today when I had eaten loads in the morning and did'n't feel sick. And then at noon - bang, was practically retching at my desk and couldn't look at the sandwich fillings in the deli for wanting to vommmm!

Hi marypopps, I am surprised and relieved there are so
many of us on no. Doesn't make me feel quite so mental.

LadyBee · 10/03/2010 21:26

Hi ladies, still haven't managed to get a GP appt, got to call earlier tomorrow morning and try for next Thursday. Gah! I want to get in the system.
I've added in some new joiners but a few details are missing. Check and correct if you need to!

I'm taking energumene off the list too, I thought it might be painful for her to come back and still see the due date there.

Hello, can I join you?

Just discovered I'm pregnant (after one try!) so slightly reeling here... It's number 2 for me, I'm 31 with EDD of 13th November. Got a 2.5 year old - eek - how's all this going to work! Very happy and excited too!

Lovely to read all your posts so far...
Anna

Ugh, I have just had such a rubbish night's sleep. Woke so many times, had odd dreams in between and at about 4:30 waI s completely awake. I've been listening to my iPod trying to get back to sleep but gave up and decided to come down and have some breakfast and MN under a rug instead.
I do remember this from last time, it's such a pain.

BTW if any of you like listening to podcasts, I found these last time around and have continued listening to them. It's an american group of women getting together to chat about their pregnancies and they have guests and special topics each week - covering all sorts. There are a lot of birth stories as well, which I find really reassuring. The differences in health system don't seem to matter and lots of the women are into midwife-led, hypnobirthing, breastfeeding etc so you get a broad range of perspectives. They're on iTunes too. Anyway - I haven't found anything similar that's UK based.

I was thinking about winter baby v summer baby. DS was a spring baby so we did do quite a lot of trying to get to parks etc with my mummy-friends but there was quite a lot of fretting about sunscreen and shading, so maybe that's an up for a winter baby?
I take DS out to parks to play even in winter (and usually try to choose one that has a cafe!) so I don't think it'll be that different, and at least this way there'll be a point to all the baby-knits my mum is going to produce when I tell her

cluelessnchaos · 11/03/2010 06:34

Hope you are ok mumcha X

gingertoo · 11/03/2010 08:03

How's things today mumcha? Fingers crossed for you x

I've got up to find some bleeding this morning - also got mild period type cramps

I've had some spotting / bleeding with every pregnancy so far so I'm trying not to worry...

Pidgin · 11/03/2010 08:40

Morning all and hello and welcome to new people.

Hope you're doing OK mumcha, fingers crossed for you.

I'm also off for a scan shortly - had some spotting on and off and a bit of cramping so when I went to the GP yesterday she organised a scan for today. Feeling a bit nervous and veering between being excited at maybe hearing a heartbeat, and nervous at potentially bad news.

Thanks for the tip about the podcasts, LadyBee, those sound interesting - I'd like to hear some birth stories - although it all still feels so far away and uncertain at the moment!

Hope you're doing OK too gingertoo - I keep reading that spotting and cramps are normal, so fingers crossed for both of us.

marypoppinswannabe · 11/03/2010 09:28

Thinking of you all mumcha, gingertoo and pidgin - hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about!

My other children have been spring and summer babies so I have no idea how it will be to have a winter baby. But I know I'm glad that this baby will be one of the oldest in the class when s/he goes to school, rather than one of the youngest. I have two August-borns and it's fine but I do think the older children have an advantage in the early years - developmentally they're just more ready.

SilverBoots · 11/03/2010 09:34

Morning all!

Good luck to those waiting for results &/or scans. It's a worrying time - I hope all goes well.

Earlier this week I posted my referral letter to the midwife dept at my local hospital, just waiting now for them to get in touch - first appt is at home. Seems to make it more 'real' once you're in the system!

No ms here (yet!) but enjoying the nightly trips to the loo, feeling dizzy & very forgetful.

Boots x

MarthaFarquhar · 11/03/2010 10:38

Hi everyone
welcome all
energumene, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I wish you well for the future.

mumcha - it is early days. Fingers crossed.

My macbook has decided to stop letting me MN , so I can now only catch up at work.

Am feeling rough as anything, and dog tired. Hope everyone else is fairing better. Am also finding my clothes increasingly tight .

addictedtomn · 11/03/2010 10:45

hi everyone, ms has hit me like a ton yesterday, 2x as bad as what it has been so far, hoping to keep it at bay today.

Really hope that everyone waiting for scans and results are ok. Sending positive vibes, really hoping for good news for you all

I started off with a lot of nausea and headaches, but now only have tiredness, heartburn, sore boobs now and then and the odd wave of sickness (mostly if hungry) This has me a bit worried, but it is still early days, so am actually looking forward to MS so it can all seem a bit more real iyswim....

floweryogi · 11/03/2010 11:14

Hello ladies - can I join you too?!

It's been so nice reading through your postings... having a few giggles and a cry.

This is my first pregnancy and we're very excited (trying not to get too carried away though!). I'm 34 and EDD is 2nd Nov. Can you add me to the list please? This list is growing with us!

I've had cramping but that died down early this week - no nausea as yet but now craving some foods and going off other things. I want to eat big hearty cooked food! It's just my boobs - I had to buy some new bras (including a sleep bra which is soooooo comfy) and if I walk around naked I have to hold them in my hands!!

I can't wait to get that scan to make sure things are all ok - just thinking positive and taking it as easy as I can.

My birthday is Nov 5th - Nov babes rock! Looking forward to this journey together. xx

Ebb · 11/03/2010 11:26

What a week and we're only half way! I'd just about recovered from my D&V bug when Ds got poorly. He's had an ear and throat infection on top of a really bad cough. He's on antibiotics but he has to have them 4X a day which sounds fine until you find out he has to have them on an empty stomach so half hour before food or 3 hrs after food. He's only up 12hrs a day! I decided to sneak one in at night and he promptly projectile vomited everywhere. He's been in bed with me the last four nights and has slept very little, just coughing and moaning and wanting to stroke my hair all night. Subsequently, I've had virtually no sleep at a time when I could quite happily hibernate for a few months. Today he's actually gone down for a nap in his cot. This week he's just wanted to sleep upright on me. I can finally mumsnet do some housework.

I'm still feeling nauseous but boobs aren't really sore anymore. Would love an early scan to put my mind at rest but doubt I'll get one. £100 is quite a lot to pay for a private scan especially as I'm not working at the moment. I have a few bits of temp work coming up though so might think about it.

Mumcha keeping my fingers crossed for you. Hope you get good news this morning. X

redbird79 · 11/03/2010 11:28

Hiya, can I join too? Due date 6th November, first pg. Nausea comes and goes but no actual sickness yet, cramps, sore boobs not as bad as they were, still feeling tired and rundown though. Also really bloated so there are already things I can't wear (at 6 weeks-eek!). Went to see GP last Friday (apologies for cross-posting from another thread btw) and he was so disinterested and completely lacking in helpful advice, I wanted to shake him! Am half-tempted to ring up the surgery and check he did actually bother referring me for the scans etc. Probably me just being tetchy, ho-hum....

floweryogi · 11/03/2010 11:37

Hi Redbird and Congrats! I know what you mean re the GP - mine was fine - he didn't really do much but in the back of my mind I'm like "has he done the referrals?"

Ebb - get well soon to you and the family. xx
