Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Evening

Loads of people asked if DD was planned (she wasn't exactly ) but i was so about how rude they all were. What does it matter to them? I know for certain that a few people were spreading rumours that i had done it on purpose to 'trap' my DH (then DP) despite the fact that we had been living together very happily for over a year. Grrrr (still a sore point!)

Obstetrician went well, have a cs planned for 10 days after my due date if i don't go into labour before. The pains are nothing to worry about, most likely because i am doing too much lifting etc. But the plan is to go for a VBAC.

Is anyone else going for a VBAC this time?

vix206 · 03/03/2010 19:51

Lizzie, I've had the right buttock pain too - really painful. Apparently a lot of pregnant ladies get it and think it is sciatica, but actually its just pregnancy-related back pain. I found mine got worse after sitting or lying down, when I am active it seems better.

Elusive, I haven't felt any movements yet (I'm 16+2) but when I was 10 weeks I was constantly getting the 'on a swing' lurchy feeling, god knows what that was too early for movement and I haven't had it since 11 weeks.

vix206 · 03/03/2010 20:12

Just to add to my last post LizzieA, obviously what you are suffering may well be sciatica - I don't know your history- didn't mean to assume

Hopefully though its just common-or-garden pregnancy aches and pains like mine ;)

LizzieA · 03/03/2010 20:36

vix206, don't worry I hope its not too, I hadn't even heard of sciatica until yesterday when I moaned about having a sore bum in work and then had to explain that I wasn't suffering from piles (yet!), I work with lots of lovely people with under 5's who have been brilliant with the advice and horror stories! I think they're all looking at me as Freecycle without the bother of posting... so far I've been offered six prams and twelve cots . I have wondered whether I'm offending people when they offer me things and I turn them down, I'm considering just accepting everything that's offered and then dropping any tat off at the tip on the way home.

vix206 · 03/03/2010 20:49

For me it is a really deep down 'gnawing' pain in my buttock, and it spreads to my hip and thigh as the day goes on. Really nasty but not so bad today. I read that it is to do with the subtle change in posture and that sitting and standing up straight should help.

Missus84 · 03/03/2010 20:58

Hi everyone, haven't checked in on the thread for ages so just catching up on all the posts!

I had a quick question - hoped someone could put my mind at rest. I'm working in a nursery and loads of the kids today came down with spots (so probably chicken pox). Is chicken pox dodgy in pregnancy? I think I had it as a child in which case is the baby protected anyway?

cazzybabs · 03/03/2010 22:09

Aussieng - I am glad you are feeling sick too (if you see what I mean)...I feel sick still about 3 days a week but when I am not feeling sick I think I imagine it.

Missus84 - you can have a blood test to check your immumity - most adults are immune. I had 3 in my class who had it with dd1 but I was immune.

cazzybabs · 03/03/2010 22:10

Missus84 - meant to say it can be dodgy in pregnancy but if you are immune to it it is fine

Chulita · 04/03/2010 08:49

alice, I'm hoping for a VBAC, I'm seeing the consultant next week all being well so we'll see what they say.
DD had a massive fever all day yesterday and woke up with one at 5 this morning but at the moment she's destroying the living room so hopefully she's fought off whatever it was. It was over 39degrees yesterday and I was worried sick!
missus I'd get your immunity checked ( I sadly remember having chicken pox very clearly ) or ask a parent, they seem to remember most childhood diseases we ever had!

bouncingblueberries · 04/03/2010 08:53

Morning girls, will catch-up with all your posts a bit later but I just wanted to say:

I love Joy from OBEM! Watched it last night and the end scene with Joy and baby Ellie TOTALLY reminded me of why this is SO worth it! Every ache, every pain, the heartburn, even the morning sickness!

Have a good day everyone

soontobefatnat · 04/03/2010 08:59

Blueberries with you on the Joy love - and ol' Fabio. They cracked me up!

babyducky · 04/03/2010 09:18

Morning all,

yep agree with you there blueberries, & Joy was so funny aswell

Still catching up on the posts, hope you are all well, Ive got 16 week midwife ap today, taking ds aswell so hope she will listen to the heartbeat as he hasnt heard it yet!

Have a good day xx

Alicetheinvisible · 04/03/2010 10:16

Morning

On a go slow again today. DD still poorly so we are sat snuggling on the sofa. Feel very hormonal today - very unusual for me.

On OBEM, i wasn't surprised Kelly was having her 5th if her labour was that easy!

vix206 · 04/03/2010 11:08

babyducky I'm off for my 16 wk appointment at lunch time today as well

Making sure I keep my blood sugar up because they're doing blood test for downs today and I don't want to feel faint with no DH there to hold my hand today

I'm pretty sure I'm getting movement now, those little swooshy, hump-back-bridge feelings right where the baby is (I know because of using the doppler). Its so exciting!

CherryPie3 · 04/03/2010 11:08

Morning girls, beautiful day

Sorry wasn't very chatty yesterday, will have to admit to also forgetting almost everything I've just read from all your posts Sorry!!!

Finally watched OBEM last night - thought Joy was funny but very bad tempered with Fabio - felt really sorry for him!!

And Kelly......bet she's still floating from all that gas and air - she really did not want to give that up did she

I found loads of people asked me whether the pregnancy was planned. I think it's a bit rude but generally didn't get annoyed - only when my MIL asked (how dare she?!). What do people expect you to say? 'No we were just being careless' or 'no this baby is unwanted'?

pamplem0usse · 04/03/2010 11:43

Cherry I also felt sorry for Fabio.... in fact Joy quite annoyed me because of the way she spoke to him (when it seemed he was trying really hard to take care of her!!) she was admittedly a bit better tempered after the epidural though....

Aussieng · 04/03/2010 11:47

LOL - My dad asked me whether it was planned. Now - I realise that I have got to 35 years old without having any children or appearing particularly maternal and I admit that my dad and I are not super close but for God's sake man - You've known me for 35 years!!!!

I liked Fabio and thought they seemed pretty happy together afterwards. I can imagine being as grumpy as Joy (so can my DH) only without the excuse of the diabetes!! Looks like there is a waterbirth on OBEM next week.

Hope your 16 week appts go well. Mine was a bit blink and you'd miss it!

cakeywakey · 04/03/2010 11:51

I was very on Kelly being able to continuall toke on the gas and air on OBEM. I had it taken off me at one point when having DD because I was so completely off my face . Fantastic stuff.

It was taken off me for the second stage though as the MW said that I needed to concentrate on pushing - although it took me four hours rather than Kelly's two tokes to get my DC out

Nikalah · 04/03/2010 11:52

Morning!

Slightly jealous of all the ladies feeling swoops, lurches or butterflies - I can't wait to feel the baby kick so far nothing boo!

I tried to change the date of my 20 week scan as I can't make the appointment (on holiday) and the receptionist was really rude. Told me there was nothing available and they were very busy. So I asked her to cancel it - she refused to and said I had to speak to a midwife first. The midwife phoned and said there is only a 6 day window, which I would be missing. They 'may' not be able to get all the shots they want as they baby 'might' be to big and I should know this, but it's very unlikely, in fact highly unlikely so don't worry about it at all and will the Wednesday do?

I didn't realise there was such a short window for the 20 wk scan?

If I book a private scan should I tell the NHS? or should I go for both? The 12 wk scan was not a brilliant experience with the NHS, kept me waiting for ages (with a burstingly full bladder - ouch!), sharp, unhelpful sonographer, blurry scan photo and I could go on.

Chulita · 04/03/2010 11:58

I don't have swoops or butterflies, nothing as graceful as that - I just get poked
nikalah that sounds like rubbish to me...some people on the other thread are having their 20wk at 24 wks...

Nikalah · 04/03/2010 12:06

Thanks Chulita That's what I thought? Bizarre. I'm so leaning towards a home-birth!

A 'poking' that would be nice

CherryPie3 · 04/03/2010 12:31

Nikalah* Thats sounds wrong, With one of my kids I had the '20 week' scan at 19 weeks, and the other I had it at 21. So I clearly missed the '6 day window'

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 04/03/2010 12:34

Nikalah- I mahaving my 20 week scan at 21 weeks. I guess you could say there is nothing you can do and having one is better than nothing even if they can't get all the measurments etc they want to.

Dibbydab · 04/03/2010 12:48

I'm having my 20 week scan next week at 19+1.

I think I've gone a bit mental - bought this yesterday matching mum and baby outfit Have kept the receipt just in case - in my defence I liked the top in the shop and didn't realise there was a baby outfit attached until I got to the till...
