Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
marzipananimal · 02/03/2010 08:16

pample yes I'm hoping she will. do they always at this appointment?

Chulita · 02/03/2010 08:32

They did at mine marzipan, was lovely But yea, since then I'm waiting 5 weeks before the scan and I really want to hear the heartbeat again. Can't justify a doppler I don't think...
Gorgeous day outside, we're off to a toddler group to pass the morning and if it stays nice we might pop to the ford and see if we can spot some ducks.

pamplem0usse · 02/03/2010 09:08

I'm pretty sure that they will if you ask at 16 weeks - worth a go, hey?
What will we all be like when we've had our 20 week-ers and no more seeing baby until it pops out?!!

mrsZaC · 02/03/2010 09:09

morning ladies,

welcome rucky

My mum made us some rocky road for DH coming back home.. it's the nuts! would you like some..?
[passes round a plate of chunky heavenly looking rocky road]

Going to pick up my necklace today - yippee! chulita I agree, you should buy it yourself, they do a ball one if you don't fancy the heart shape. I bought it as I knew I would just wait forever for someone else to get it for me. That will teach your DH to be mean to you!

weehector did you survive without your haribo & ginger beer?

mrsZaC · 02/03/2010 09:13

BTW, this is an awful strange question but do you usually get maternity pants?, or just get them in a bigger size? my pants are ok but itching like mad accross the band at the top, especially with the lacy numbers.. think i'll have to get some microfibre ones or something.. any advice?

Alicetheinvisible · 02/03/2010 09:31

Morning

MrsZac i just get the slightly higher cut cotton multipack from M&S (i use them to ride in)

Marzipan i pee into a plastic cup (the sort you chuck away) then pour it into the pot, less mess and more likely to catch it all

I have been getting some very painful stitch pains and they woke me up this morning, but have got my obstetrician appointment this afternoon, so can talk to them about it.

YummymummyKJulie · 02/03/2010 10:30

Aussieng · 02/03/2010 10:42

Morning all! Working from home today but it looks so nice outside. The garden is calling and DH has already started with his "since you're at home can you just...". Also I've just realised that I have forgotton about an internal conference call at 10.30 am this morning and so am trying desperately to crank my work laptop up to get the dial in details and log in before the call is over. Stupid slow computer.

Thanks for updating the list Vitapulchra.

FOr anyone who did not notice, we have a newbie Ruky. Ruky had posted on one of our old lists so I linked her across to here.

babyducky · 02/03/2010 10:49

Morning,

Lovely weather here too, we are off to the park

mrszac- I love those necklaces, Im going to get one aswell.

yummymummy- My friend organised a baby shower for me when I was pregnant with ds, We had it on a friday night when I was about 35 weeks, she put balloons & banners up & we had nibbles & cake etc, we also played a few little games like guessing the weight of baby & day he'd be born.
Got lots of nice little pressies for baby & for me aswell, stuff like nice bubble bath & chocs.
It was really fun!

babyducky · 02/03/2010 10:50

Welcome Ruky

CherryPie3 · 02/03/2010 11:02

Hello you lovely lot!

Welcome Ruky

Soooo.......who had snow last night? I passed so many crashes on my way to work this morning!! Was 20 minutes late for work as well - our stand-in manager pulled me over and said it was unacceptable that I didn't call ahead to tell them. I fumed at her saying if I crashed would they take the blame? If I got 3 points and a fine - would they pay it? No they bloody well wouldn't so have put in a complaint! Honestly the stupidity of some people!

Moving on....

Marzi I bought a small asda smart price jug too pee into - easy as pie then to tip into the tiny pee-pot. Hope the midwife can listen to the heartbeat for you - it's sooo lovely to hear

MrsZaC I don't bother with maternity pants - just get cheap cotton ones in a bigger size. In fact this time I'm planning on using Asda smartprice ones as disposables. £1 for a 3pk, bargain, actually cheaper than disposable ones

Hector Did you get your sweeties?

Lovely and sunny (and deadly icy) outside today

I had my pregnancy riask assessment today, bless my heath and safety rep - shes sweet and awesome. I told her about the issues I've been facing about going to the toilet (I have to ask my managers permission ) - she says to just go, they have to deal with it as it preg related. Also she's gonna get me a desk fan because I've been getting hot flushes , Love her!!!! She also gave me a list of pregnancy related risks so that I have the proof here in case any team leader questions me for anything!!

Hope you're all well!!

ducky I quite like the sound of a baby shower - not so much for the presents but the games, my friend is planning one for my leaving do (in 14 weeks )

OP posts:
Aussieng · 02/03/2010 11:26

Cherry good for your H&S person.

When is your scan? I think you are just ahead of me - mine is a week today.

I second the Asda pants. I bought a load and some of their shorties too because I was told they were good for after the birth when using maternity pads (not so good before the birth because they cut in quite low). BTW - I was a bit horrified to learn that you bleed for weeks after giving birth. I spent ages looking forward to having no periods while pg. No-one had ever mentioned that you just get it all in one go after the birth!!!

Back to the pants: I sent DH to Asda to pick up the belly warmers and when he came back I was quite since they are huge! But I slipped them on and - oh ecstasy! They are so comfy. DH has taken them in his stride - he just keeps referring to the Coupling episode where they state the longer the relationship the bigger the knickers. Doesn't bode well for us since we only met just over 2 years ago does it???

Yummy a baby shower sounds like fun but I admit that I have nver been to one or been aware of any of my friends having them. I'm probably not going to be a trail blazer in my circle on this (everyone will think I just want the presents) but the games etc that babyducky suggests sound lovely. I shall just have to live vacariously through yours and next time one of my friends is PG I shall suggest it to them!!

pamplem0usse · 02/03/2010 11:36

Aussie I too was looking forward to having no periods while pregnant. In fact my pre-pregnancy self saw pregnancy as an entirely positive thing because of this. I completely failed to consider the possibility of morning sickness!!!!!

weehector · 02/03/2010 11:39

I resisted the sweeties last night(just too lazy to go out) and have assuaged 'bad mummy to be' guilt by knocking a gallon of orange juice & a banana smoothie into me this am.

Marzipan I somehow managed to have 2 midwife appointments last week (16+2 & 16+6) and heard the heartbeat both times with the doppler. I'm trying not to buy into the old wife's tale about it being a girl if the heartbeat over 140 as my gut tells me I'm having a boy. Where did this new found superstition come from?...I'm the most cynical person I know.

On a similar note, has anyone else felt themselves retreating to childhood comforts? I thought the cake baking was just me trying to be a yummy mummy around the house after 15 years on the advertising treadmill but when I consider that I've also been reading 'Anne of Green Gables' again, I'm not so sure.

Hello & welcome, rucky.

It's another fabulous day here in Hectorland too and I'm off to Glasgow to see a friend that's just home from Oz after 2 years. Yay!

weehector · 02/03/2010 11:46

Oh, and Cherrypie, your stand-in manager sounds like an uptight cow. There's probably a reason why she's the 'stand-in' manager. Don't waste any more of your hormonal energy on her.

Aussieng · 02/03/2010 12:02

LOL Pample - I agree. When I did think of morning sickness, I thought it would just be a case of feeling a bit yucky but mind over matter, pushon through it etc etc. Innocent, naive fool that I was

Weehector we will have to compare notes. I have hb of around 150 but also have a gut instinct that it is a boy so we shall see.

vix206 · 02/03/2010 12:16

I feel so lucky I didn't get morning sickness at all, feel so sorry for you ladies who suffered so badly with it

In good news, if you're looking for large cup size bras this website is doing a 24hr sale on lots of great bras. I just bought 2 Freya bras for much less than I should have paid!

CherryPie3 · 02/03/2010 12:16

weeHector Yes, I did use rather a lot of my hormonal anger energy on her this morning. Think I scared her a little actually. Well....shouldn't mess with a pregnant lady!!
I do feel for her because it was a message from senior management that she'd been told to pass it on to me. So I sent them a copy of the road safety policy along with my complaint. Will also take it up with my t/l when she comes back next week. Twunts!!!!

[wipes rocky road crumbs off chin]
alice, can you pass on what you're told about the stitch pains please? I've been getting them especially at night and they're very painful!
I think I will get a necklace, I was looking at the ball one, I'm not such a hearty person. DH was just grumpy last night, I made a point of not saying much and then when we turned in and I said goodnight he said 'I don't like it when you don't talk to me' so I told him he shouldn't tell me to stop wittering then . We don't ever shout/argue but we do a good sulk when we need to!
It's lovely today isn't it? I've actually got the washing on the line!
And welcome rucky, I did notice you but forgot to say hello sorry!

pamplem0usse · 02/03/2010 12:24

Can I ask a silly/personal question?
I had my bloods done 8 days ago and was told I'd hear within 10 days if there was a problem.
I've managed to convince myself I might have something seriously wrong (i.e. HIV). I don't have any reason (I haven't been wreckless about who I have unprotected sex with or anything) and in my heart I know I'm just being paranoid, but my head is really beginning to annoy me!
I don't know what I'll do if a letter from the hospital arrives in the next couple of days! Argh, silly head.
Has anyone else had concerns like this?

bouncingblueberries · 02/03/2010 12:37

Morning, or rather afternoon, girls!

Welcome rucky

Grr, I'm in such a bad mood today. Just noticed some bank charges on my alternative current account (long story - only opened it to get the £100 cash back). Anyway, it's my own bloody fault. I set up some standing orders to my savings accounts so that my pregnant nappy brain wouldn't forget. Except, I set them up to come out a day too early and of course my standing order from my proper current account to my alternative account didn't clear in time, so the standing orders to the savings accounts were returned unpaid! aaaaaaaaargh! So that's £25 down the flippin drain. Tried to argue that because the standing orders were to ME (not a company or anything) then surely they could wave the charge, but no. That would involve the bank being nice.

Sorry girls, rant over. Just mad at my own stupidity. Serves me right for trying to be a smart-arse and running 2 separate current accounts.

Aussieng · 02/03/2010 12:39

Pample I was completely like that - I even posted about it at the time and someone else said they had had the same thoughts. It's just like walking past Customs & Revenue feeling totally guilty even when you know that you don't have any contraband.

pamplem0usse · 02/03/2010 12:43

bouncing have you tried threatening to close the account??? Sometimes worth a go!! Or, depending on how long you have had the account open, you might want to write and note what a good customer you've been for X amount of time (some banks waive charges automatically if you're a long term customer with no other blots against your name).

Thank goodness Aussie - not that I want you to have suffered the same paranoia - just helps to know I'm not the only one with these thoughts! I still get a slightly guilty feeling when buying alcohol (tho' obv not drinking atm), despite the fact I'm almost 26!
