elusiveMoose - he was a keen rower but now all he is doing is coaching/helping a girls college during bumps week ...grhhhh I am not a happy lady

Alicetheinvisible · 24/02/2010 12:41

Chulita i wonder if maybe i have just put my pelvis out of joint slightly as it feels like the spine and back of pelvis are rubbing together iyswim?

LCRLCR · 24/02/2010 12:53

OMG I posted my scan in that in-gender site too and am getting 100% GIRL back! Wonder how accurate it is as we refer to baby as "he" !

Dibbydab · 24/02/2010 13:00

Well they've got a 50/50 chance of getting it right , but most of them seem to agree with each other. Just a bit of fun really, but they do seem to get it right most of the time...

vix206 · 24/02/2010 13:01

I've registered too, just waiting for my password to be emailed to me [impatient smiley].

I'm now 15+2 and I'm starting to feel really, gosh its hard to describe, sort of bulky where the baby is. Of course I should feel that, its just such a strange feeling having never been pregnant before and always being so slim. With the risk of sounding like I'm whingeing its a bit uncomfortable actually.

Also yesterday and (less so) today I've been getting sort of twinges across my bump, quite high up. They come suddenly, last around a second and then go. Not cramps, and nothing mega painful but uncomfortable. I am guessing these are probably just growing pains.

Like I say not moaning, how can I moan having had an almost perfect time of it so far (no sickness) just making sure this is all 'normal' sounding! Got MW appt next Thursday so I can mention it then too if I need to.

CherryPie3 · 24/02/2010 13:04

Ooooh, all these girl babies

Everyone seems convinced that I'm having a girl this time - especially DH!! He is refusing to think of boys names as he 'knows' it's a girl

I honestly feel like I'm carrying a girl but thats nothing to go by really. This pregnancy has been radically different to both of my others so who knows.....?

Every time I try and post my picture on in-gender I just get an error screen. Giving up for now!

growingbump2 · 24/02/2010 13:44

Just checked out the ingender website dibbydab, didn't post my pic thourgh, it is quite weird did you read the extreme gender disappointment forum, omg!

vix206 · 24/02/2010 13:47

Managed to add mine in the end but nobody has any clues. Worth a try!

Dibbydab · 24/02/2010 13:58

Growingbump2 yes the Gender Disappointment forum is a bit , but I expect unless you're in that situation (and happy with your boy/girl ratio) it's difficult to understand it.

I suppose it's somewhere they can talk about their feelings without people in RL saying "At least you've got healthy baby, it doesn't matter what sex it is", my sensible head completely agrees with that argument, but what your heart says deep down might be something else - it's a bit of a taboo subject isn't it?

Dibbydab · 24/02/2010 14:00

Vix206 I can confirm that you are having...... a baby

vix206 · 24/02/2010 14:02

LOL Dibbydab, lets hope so!!!

Dibbydab · 24/02/2010 14:09

I'm never wrong

growingbump2 · 24/02/2010 14:09

Totally agree dibbydab it is taboo, a girl I work with has just had a girl after two boys. She was devestated during her second pregnancy to discover she was carrying another boy and every time someone asked her if she knew what it was she burst into tears, with her last pregnancy she didnt find out as she said if it was another boy she didnt want to ruin the pregnancy. I don't understand the feeling but it must be awful, I have a boy and have not idea what this one is, hospital won't disclose sex either and not sure how I feel about private scanning companies so will have to wait and see!

YummymummyKJulie · 24/02/2010 14:30

I did posted too but they cant see it well ...I think I will just need to wait next 3 week :-) so cant wait! :P

mrsZaC · 24/02/2010 14:40

wow lots of chat today,

I don't have a pic to post on that gender thing, but I think I would rather keep it a surprise anyway.

DH is sure it's a girl, as is my best-bud I kinda have a feeling it's a girl, not sure why I don't mind either way, but I don't ge the same feeling when I think about a boy.. does that make any sense? putting aside the fact that I can't think of any boys names I like

pamplem0usse · 24/02/2010 14:45

Ah I'm with you mrsZaC I just want to wait and see -- maybe that's more of a first baby thing though? I have a feeling mine is a boy....... while we have tonnes of girls names. Oh well!

I'm just getting to the point of feeling very daunted by all the baby stuff we need to buy. Not so much the financial aspect, as we're lucky enough to have help from both lots of grandparents, but just working out what we do and don't need!

ElusiveMoose · 24/02/2010 14:55

I tried it too, but nobody has any ideas yet. Hey ho. Will just have to wait until 25 March. FWIW I sort of understand the gender disappointment thing, because I was quite disappointed when we found out DS was a boy. Nothing like the strength of feeling on the website, though. And now I'm chuffed to bits that I've got a little boy, to the extent that I really don't mind which flavour I get this time.

mrsZaC · 24/02/2010 14:56

phew I'm not alone! think it's because I want quite an unusual girls name, but it's difficult to do that with boys names without making them sounds a little, well gay. Not that there would be much wrong with that but I'd rather give him a chance to be hetro! ;)

Can't wait to start shopping, keeping my beady eye out for things all the time, but I know what you mean about feeling daunted, it seems like such an amount of stuff. Today I was researching real nappies, I'm definetely getting them, no problems with any mummies out there using dispoables but I personally can't stand the idea of prouducing that much waste with disposable nappies. Anyone with experience of using real nappies?

Dibbydab · 24/02/2010 15:02

I agree - I don't want to know "officially" - and I'll take about as much notice of their opinion as holding a wedding ring on a bit of string over my bump/how high or low I'm carrying/whether I've had lots of morning sickness/craving for sweet or savory food, it's one of life's great surprises isn't it (well it was until the invention of scans...)

Pamplemousse I think we've bought too much stuff already - have visions of having to build a "Baby Wing" a la Father of the Bride II

neenz · 24/02/2010 15:03

I am so going on that in-gender website after my 20w scan! DH doesn't want to know the sex - I said he could decide this time whether to find out cos I insisted on finding out with the twins. But I am too impatient and really want to know. I think it's a girl anyway.

Dibbydab · 24/02/2010 15:07

Know what you mean about boys names MrsZac - my faves at the moment are Emmanuel (Manny) or Gabriel (Gabe) of course being pregnant these change on a weekly basis - DH asked if I'd had a bang on the head - in his opinion any boy with either of those names had either be a good fighter or a quick runner My dad asked if I'd joined "The God Squad"? - men!

mrsZaC · 24/02/2010 15:08

hehe dibby, loving father of the bride 2, I sooo want a franc!

neenz · 24/02/2010 15:25

MrsZac, I use cloth nappies with the twins and I love them. It is an extra load of washing every 2-3 days, so with all the other washing I do it is a lot - I do at least one load every day and drying is the main problem although I have a Sheila Maid so things dry quite quick. But if you are a pretty organised type of person it can be done and is definitely worth it. Try to keep an eye out for second hand nappies (they sell loads on MN) then the cost is kept right down. I figure I have saved loads cos a lot of my nappies were given to me . I use Motherease which I love but they are quite old-fashioned now, nappies like Bumgenius are all the rage these days

bouncingblueberries · 24/02/2010 15:28

We used real nappies with ds from about 10 weeks (didn't get organised enough to order them before then - that was my one job to do the day I went into labour!) until about 18 months I think. We really liked them and didn't find the extra washing a chore. We stopped for a number of reasons. Firstly, ds was toddling around and kept finding the nappy bin and wanting to investigate it's contents (bleurgh!). Secondly, I just couldn't find any trousers to fit him after that age. All the trousers cut for cloth bottoms were just a bit too expensive and I couldn't justify the cost. I didn't have a sewing machine then, so couldn't face hand-sewing a load of trousers myself!

But we kept hold of them and plan to use them again for this baby. Will probably use disposables in the very early days until we get into the swing of things - but looking forward to having another fluffy bottom to change
