Hiya all

Cor I have been away while haven't I?

Haven't read any messages yet, so will comment on them later. Hope you are all well!!!

It has been truly hectic here!

I have now finished work, HHHOOORRRAAAYYY!

My parents have come and gone!

The house has been (and is still being) revamped!

My DH has finished his old job and started his new one.

We have been on a short break to Edinburgh - which was fab!

And we have been house hunting!!!!

This together with my Dad fiddling around with computers meaning I have not always had access to the internet has meant I have not been able to come online. You do not want to have my email inboxes at the mo, most of it is spam though!!!!

As for PG well all is going so well at the mo that I can actually forget that I am PG and whilst revamping house for sale everyone had to keep on reminding me not to do things (that I had already started doing!!!!)

My bump is quite big now, and seems to be growing nicely - no stretch marks across the actual bump yet, but I have a few around my hips (think they were there before though!!!!) My bust is absolutely HUGE!!! And my nipples have changed and seem to be covering most of the surface area of the breasts, SCARY!!!!!

I am eating normally and the only things I am finding harder at the mo are bending down, fitting between parked cars(!) and shaving my legs in the bath!!!

Bubs is not only kicking now, but I can feel him wriggling and changing position, we have daily games of follow the hand and it is amazing to see my whole bump move!

Sleeping is not too bad at the mo, sometimes uncomfortable and sometimes lovely. And I have only just started needing to pee more often, which I think is pretty fab, although mightily annoying now, as there are times I just can't walk to relieve myself it is so painful!!!

My next MW visit is in 2 weeks and my antenatal classes with the hospital and the NCT start mid September!!

I think that is it really, on the whole I feel fab.

I am just going to read up about you lot now. Will probably be on here for another 2 hours looking at the amount of messages!!!

BBYYYYYEEEEE

Hello everyone! God I havent logged on to this thread for a while.Everythings been up in the air with dp going away then my mam went into hospital with meningitis and then last week I ended up in hospital with wait for it........Slow Labour Im only 25+5 now.The pains have stopped for the time being but baby is way too low down and head is just about ready to engage.Hoping it stays put for a bit longer.

Havent caught up on all the posts but I hope everyone is keeping well talk soon

ChaCha · 05/08/2005 12:50

Welcome Back Enthusia! Was worried about you and very glad that all is well

Firstbaby - How are things now? Are you getting plenty of rest? What have they told you? We haven't seen you on here for ages.

Hamster - I remember years ago when working abroad that I'd be so tired some mornings i'd actually dream that i'd gotten up, showered, dressed and gone to work - only to wake up and find out that I was still in bed and late!

Beks - Have no idea about Eurodisney but hope mums on here can give you some good advise. Maybe you could post on some other threads to for max input.

I'm arranging children's activities for a summer camp so am off to start the programme. It's good to be doing some work.

Love to all x

Enthusia · 05/08/2005 12:51

Right have read the threads, well scanned them actually, there were soooooo many!!!!

Thank you for all the kind comments and worried wonderings, made me feel all mushy. Sorry I didn't post. I should be online like ChaCha now, there will be no getting rid of me!!!!

ChaCha, again I can't believe our similarities - I too love Little Britain!!!! Esp 'Computer says noooo' and 'I'm the only gay in the village'!!! Also my Dh was away for 2 nights at the beginning of the week and we too were texting into the night! I hope your sickness has started to ease now!!! Oh and my next MW isn't until week 28 if that helps!

FirstBaby - I hope you are ok, is there anything they can do to prolong the time it is inside? I know nothing of this area at all!!!

Glad everyone had good holidays - hope you can look back and laugh at some of yours Nova!

Welcome new peeps, it is great to have even more people to bore

I am dying to but some more maternity clothes, but feel guilty each time I do, as I won't be wearing them for very long! Have most of you gone for below the bump trousers, my bump must be quite low as none of my trousers fit under my bump - even my hipster jeans - and according to my maternity size etc I haven'y put on much weight elsewhere!!! I am beginning to feel a bit dumpy and unattractive at the mo, think it is the clothes!!!!!

I think the things I miss about being PG are alcohol - I would love to just be able to relax and let go and sex - still fun but I keep getting paranoid over positions etc!!!

Hope I haven't missed off any really important comments etc, if I have I am not ignoring anyone - will probably just have forgotten since I started reading well over an hour ago.

Well I am now officially starving so am going to abondon you all for some lunch before Bubs breaks out and makes his own!!!!!!!!!

Enthusia · 05/08/2005 12:54

Oh ChaCha - I also am finding the summer hols differnt now that I am not going back to school. Previously I would have been doing work for the next academic year through most of it!!!!

Any chance of a meet up sometime soon - I can get pretty much anywhere, anytime!!!!!!! (I am not a Martini girl though )

rodeo1 · 05/08/2005 14:38

Hello all,

Lovely day here, where is the rain? I'm sure we'll get it later...

Guess what baby related item I got today?? A mothercare catalogue!! Have any of you got? Have you seen the 'baby checklist' on the back!! LOL!! I've scubbed half of the items off!! Terrible the way they try to push things on you to make money...

Enthusia, glad to see you're back and well!! We were worried!

Firstbaby, you poor thing, how scary, hope you are resting and everyone is keeping a close eye on you (Sending loads of baby glue to you!)

Aw Beks! Glad you're feeling more like your cheery self today, KWYM about the summer hols, it can be really draining, especially in crappy weather. And your parents going back must be hard, my sis and mum are both going away next week, which I'll find hard but they'll be back before I know it. Couldn't imagine what it must be like for your parents to live so far away...

I hate pierced ears on children too, and headbands!! Also hate it when baby's hair gets put up really tightly a la 'pebbles from the Flintstones'!!

Hammy, I'm getting the ice thing too!! I have unlimited supplies when I'm at work - Heaven!!

Right, need to tidy upstairs,

Love to all

goldenoldie · 05/08/2005 15:13

ChaCha - I've been cheating on the trifle front - M&S are doing them at half price...............

Hamster - I've got 1 ds already, aged 9. I will be having about 10 months off in total, but four of those will be before the babies arrive. Plan to go back when they are about 6 months old.

Enthusia - I really miss drinking too. Found that alcohol free Becks is quite good, but nothing really makes up for a stiff g&t.

ChaCha · 05/08/2005 15:30

Oh Enthusia...so lovely to see you on here again! Too many similarities if you ask me, it's not the first time either...(Omen music plays discreetly in the background)
'Yeah, I know'

Rodeo - I've seen the mothercare catalogue and those checklists are scary!! That's why i wanted everyone to give their input so that i could make out based on your experiences what are actual essentials and what are just a waste of money.
Still don't know what to do on the nappy front.

I might have to go away next week as the work on the house might make it difficult for me to stay. Really don't want to go though...surely one little me can't get in the way that much?

Right, off to raid the fridge.

novadandypowder · 05/08/2005 16:06

I've heard that alchohol free Becks is good too and it might just be the thing for my beer craving. I didn't drink it that much anyway, but when DH has one I love the smell of it and want one too. He lets me have the occasional shandy though.

Firstbaby - i hope you manage to hold on to the little one for a while yet.

It's good to see some old faces back on the thread.

I've just braved a bikini wax, I'd been putting it off as i'd heard that your skin is more sensitive when pregnant, but it's getting harder to see/reach down there now so thought i'd better go for it. It was totally fine in the end, helped by a very good therapist who kept me talking through most of it. I don't get out much so I tend to chew the ear off anyone who happens to stay still for longer than 5 mins. I'll keep going back every 4 weeks now to make sure the lady garden is prepared for birth.

Have a pregnancy massage booked for next friday, they have a bed with a bump bit so that you can lay flat. I think i'd pay just to lay on that for an hour having a massage is a bonus!

novadandypowder · 05/08/2005 16:16

Chacha - they're having the nappy discussion on the oct. thread at the mo. The general conscensus is to get disposables for the first couple of weeks and then move into re-usables if thats what you want to use. Most re-usable co's do a trial pack of sorts, so you don't have to splash out on the whole bundle while trying to find which ones work for you.

Enthusia · 05/08/2005 17:36

Nova - When we were away in Edinburgh we were staying in a spa hotel, something I wanted so I could relax. I went to them to ask what massage I could have and they said "NONE" nothing, not even an arm or a leg, something about the oils. I asked couldn't they use a base oil with no essentials in it and they were so dumb they didn't know. Ended up having a facial, which was lovely, but not what I really wanted, also bloddy expensive as since we have been back I have found a place that does a 2 hour mum 2 be pamper package - whole body - including pedicure and manicure for the same price as my 1 hour facial!!!!

ChaCha - another simularity - it was my anniversary yesterday - but we also couldn't be bothered to do much and are celebrating at the weekend - spooky!!! Also having the worrying nappy discussion in my head esp after going to the landfill site with my class and finding out in a pamphlet that a nappy does take 500 years to decompose but that cleaning nappies at home (let alone sending them out to a laundry agency) uses more elcetricity and so hurts the environment more!!! I am now considering the biodegradable/recycled nappies from Boots - price doesn't seem too bad either!!!

Just had to go out and splash out on a few maternity tops to make myself feel less frumpy over the weekend. H&M have still got a 70% sale and found a few things in DP at 50%!!!!

Right back to revamping the house.

Speak later

Oh before I go another real concern for me is cots - I know I have mentioned this before but I am still fretting - is it bedside - cotbed - or normal? Please help!!!!

BEKsmum · 05/08/2005 18:33

Enthusia welcome back, you had us worried you naughty girl. Glad everything is going so well, I take it you are enjoying being a lady of leisure then?
I was given a 2nd hand Mamas & Papas cot and bought a new mattress, the only thing I would advise is that you have one where the side drops down as bending in to get them once you have lowered the base really does your back in!

Firstbaby, what a nightmare, I take it dh got away okay and that your mum is now on the mend - that must have been very scary for you all.
Are you in a hurry or what?! I take it you have been told to rest and get your feet up to give baby a chance to move back up and away from the emergency exit Take it as a warning sweetheart, it will be here soon enough without you putting yourself through this worry. Sending you lots of baby glue and rest vouchers!!!

Rodeo love the Pebbles image, I really can't imagine having a girl as I'm such a tomboy myself that I wouldn't know where to start with girls clothes, an example being I put a long dress on on holiday and Ben wouldn't stop going on about the fact that mummy had a dress on and could I get more of them please!!!

Glad everyone seems to be on such a high today, hope you all have great weekends, speak to you later Beks x

CADS · 05/08/2005 20:52

Evening ladies

Glad to see everyone is doing well and most of you are blooming.

Welcome on board harpsichordcarrier, grumpton and goldenoldie.

Tex - Love your pregnancy diary and scan pictures. She looks really cute.

Happy anniversary Enthusia and chacha and also welcome to the SAHM club. Hope you find it a fulfilling and rewarding job. Definitely best job I ever had although it can be a little lonely (mainly because I don't have any family over here).

Firstbaby - keep those legs tightly closed. No doubt you have been given loads of advice.

Yes, I'm still around, thanks to those who asked. It's nice to be missed.

Managed to blow up our computer during a cleaning and DIY frenzy. Luckily, our home insurance agreed to replace it. Definitely, going through nesting phase have got everything ready for baby's arrival. Of course, it did help that we held onto all of ds things. Most of his stuff was unisex and just needed washing and ironing. The only thing we will need some girly outfits for going out, but we will let family buy those once baby is here. Still have things like bottles, breast pumps, mose basket, etc etc so don't actually need anything. We have a Maclaren techno, which we are really happy with and have decided to use it for baby too. We are going to get a buggy board and a small light weight buggy for ds. The buggy will be those long shopping trips, dh and I will each have a buggy to push.

Pregnancy going well despite having my share of hormonal moments, much to dh amusement. Had an OMG moment last night when it suddenly hit me that I have to go through labour and childbirth but also feel that I want my body back so go from wanting to get this pregnancy over with and never wanting to give birth. Just can't keep me happy can you!

DH is on a boys' night out so not expecting him home anytime soon and am sure he will be a bit grouchy tomorrow but never mind I have just eaten his share of the galaxy bar which he saved last night.

Right, what shall I do with myself??

Take care
CADS

ChaCha · 05/08/2005 21:59

Hi Cads, nice to see you here again. Why is it that when anyone mentions a particular food item i get a sudden craving? Am sending DH out for a galaxy that will wash down nicely with a hot chocolate..crikey, all i need is to get slippers ready by the fire and I might as well call it quits!!!

I have to admit it's nice being home CADS but like yourself I have no family around and DH is a substitute everyone IYSWIM. I have some close friends that are very much like family but it's obviously not the same. Looking on the bright side, I get a few breaks throughout the year visiting them all so not all doom and gloom.

Beks - your DS is hilarious. DH has to keep reminding me that the baby is not a fashion accessory! Looking at boys clothes is not quite as exciting as girls but the newborn stuff (especially the little hats) is just adorable.

Is anyone else her partial to Lush products? I really feel like going there tomorrow and getting some treats...

Well ladies, until later...

Enthusia · 06/08/2005 11:04

OOOHHHH Lush

In Edinburgh we really treated ouselves and bought half the shop. The stuff lasts for ages though!!! Well except the bath bombs, they've all gone now!!!!

Right cracking on with the house. It is so nice now that DH has his weekends back, I can crack the whip again.

BBYYYEEEE

novadandypowder · 06/08/2005 12:19

a big fat YES!!!! to Lush. We too end up buying half the shop whenever we go in, and have a big box of stuff next to the bath. DH and I like to take baths together for a bit of 'us' time, but it's also good for those pamper yourself moments

novadandypowder · 06/08/2005 12:21

I'm like you chacha, whenever any food stuff gets mentioned on here i instantly want it, but i won't give examples in case it sets of a frenzy

ChaCha · 06/08/2005 14:44

Enthusia - must be lovely to have your DH back at home on the weekends Imagine you're both very busy though with the move but at least you get the help you need and can put your feet up when you need to.

I'm feeling really tired again today and have only managed to prepare dinner for us both and that's it. Think I will take myself into the town centre and complete my mission to Lush and try and get out of this 'too tired' mode. I am still visiting the bathroom an amazing number of times during the night..is anyone else the same?

Forgot to mention that DH and I watched Desperate Midwives on Thursday night..did anyone else? I actually burst into tears when one of the babies didn't breathe for a that short period..As for seeing the 'steel rod' they use for epidural have decided that I will just have to take the pain! Do you have to have an epidural for a c-sec too? I almost fainted on seeing it!!!

Time to get out..

twinkle1 · 06/08/2005 15:57

hi all,
back from a week in the N.East with the in laws. Kids have had a fine time swimming, farm and friends etc.Im knackered.Sorry if i have missed any news as i have not had time to read all the threads yetwell i cant belive i only have about 13 weeks left now it seems to be flying by!!
I have started to sort out baby clothes and DH has decided to convert the garage and rip out half of the kitchen so the house looks like we are living in a squat at the min. Anyone else gone mad and decided to take on a massive DIY project?????
well must go and do some washing
twinkle
24+2

goldenoldie · 06/08/2005 17:55

Chacha - what is the 'steel rod'?

Enthusia · 07/08/2005 09:52

ChaCha - Desperate Midwives put my DH off being at the birth so much we are now not allowed to watch it!!!!! As for the epidural I was thinking exactly the same, all I can say is the pain must be worse than the injection for anyone to go through that!!!!!!!!!

We Lushed out yesterday - more bath bombs - hooray. Nova - either you both must be very small or have a lovely large bath - usually to fit us both in would be a squeeze - but at the mo it would be impossible!!!!

ChaCha · 07/08/2005 10:08

Goldenoldie - Metaphor for the needle....yikes!

Enthusia - Are you trying to make me jealous? Never actually got to Lush yesterday. I ended up looking for maternity trousers and PJ's and have discovered that decision making is worse than it usually is! Got into quite a fluster just because i couldn't choose between two different types of PJ's. Ridiculous!

We are having work done in the house for the next week so I will be staying at my friends. She has a wonderful DD aged 2.5 that will keep me v.busy i'm sure. Am quite looking forward to it.

Twinkle - your break sounds nice. I am just one day behind you at 24+1, is that all 13 weeks - are you going in early or am I just proving how crap I am at maths? I work out 15-16weeks still to go but that doesn't sound right as 16 weeks is 4 months and i'm already 6!!!! Someone will explain...hint hint

goldenoldie · 07/08/2005 13:06

I've had an epidural - not particularly comfortable while going in, but not painful. The worst bit is having to sit still, bending over, while they get the needle in.

Will be having another c-section this time, but might opt for a general rather than an epidural - not made my mind up yet.

Hossie won't be pleased if i tell them I want a general - but what can they do when I'm lying there on the operating table? Anyway, anetheatist told me last time that if women absolutely insist, they have to give it to them.

ChaCha · 07/08/2005 16:57

Hi goldenoldie - So they give an epidural for a c-section too? Why would you choose the GA over the epidural? I hope you don't mind me asking but this is all VERY new to me and I'd like to know what options i have. I don't even know the difference between the two

Today i've noticed stretch marks around my sides and the palmers has been getting rubbed in vigorously! Have also noticed spidery type little veins on my chest along with some very nice big blue veins. Am feeling fat and unattractive today..when i tell DH how i feel he says 'Well you are pregnant!' Great, so i am fat and ugly!! Men can't win sometimes...

Friend is coming over dinner..will chew her ear for a while and get off MN xxxx

Enthusia · 07/08/2005 18:38

Did not feel fat and ugly yesterday for the first time in ages, but came back with a vengence today. DH says exactly the same - ie, what do you expect?????

My breasts also have rather weird lines on them, they are also lumpy at the bottom!!!!!

I posted a message about cots etc, in products and they all think a moses basket is best first, I was told to go straight for a cot by someone else, so I may change my mind about that!

Hope you are all ok, just going to soak in a lovely Lush bath. Thought I'd make you a ittle more jealous!!!!
