ChaCha · 01/08/2005 12:17

Awwww Rodeo....
You should be sat with your feet up relaxing right now!! Am sure the kids will be fine, once they start playing they are sure to forget that they are apart...don't worry!

Lilj - congrats on the bugaboo. I was looking at one but they are just soooooo expensive!!! I've also stopped buying anything on cards as i want a clean slate (if that makes sense) before baby arrives so am paying off what's left on mine rather than adding...i am so tempted though!
I saw a mothercare travel system, looks reasonable, it's the second one voted for on MN pushchair survey, not sure about that faux fur though and the practicality of it..any ideas? Other than that will need to fork out a good £400 for the Jane Carrera..it really has to be a good travel system. Can you take these things on planes?

Hows Beks this morning?

Bamik - no sign? Enthusia?

BEKsmum · 01/08/2005 13:25

Afternoon all, Rodeo don't worry I'm sure they'll be fine apart, but it always makes you kick yourself when you've promised them something and it's not how it turns out!

Having a fun day here Ben woke at 6:30 saying he had a tummy ache he now has full blown squits (sorry for tmi!!!) - just what I'm short of really!

Nova, sorry to hear about your holiday, sure the next one will bemore successful!

Sorry to hear that you and Chacha are still feeling rough too, I'm back to heaving but I was like this last time so no surprise for me!

Survived Postman Pat yesterday, in actual fact it was pretty good, so if it comes to a theatre near you in the holidays it's worth a visit, with kids of course .

I'm very impressed with all you that are clearing your credit cards, mine seem to be getting higher by the minute and I'm still spending

God I'm tired, off to amuse Ben and to do some tidying, speak to you all later. Beks (25+1)

Busyalexsmummy · 01/08/2005 14:16

chacha-if you go for a jane travel system would deff have a good look on ebay first as they often have the carrera and the powertracks on there for a much much less amount than what you buy them for brand new, someone on mumsnet picked one up on ebay a few weeks ago for about £140!!

novadandypowder · 01/08/2005 16:38

mmm - just made some chocolate rice krispie cakes - mmmm

ChaCha · 01/08/2005 16:50

I don't think you should be allowed to tease fellow MNers on here Nova!!!!
'Moderator...ban this woman at once!'

DH has just phoned to ask what's for dinner so guess i'd better get my fat a*se up and downstairs...really can't be faffed today! A movie, chicken wrap, fries and strawberry shake would go down a treat.
Someone spoil me pls...

rodeo1 · 01/08/2005 19:18

Hi Ladies,

Feeling much better now, children were fine (of course they were going to be, you silly woman!)

Just made ratatouille for tea, (I'm trying to cram as much fruit and veg into my families mouths as I can this week, after last week's diet!) but ds is having none of it! Ah well....

Managed to clear out kitchen drawers today!!! Round of applause please! Although it was getting to the stage that a had to push contents down hard and then close drawer really quick! Then everything springing everywhere when it came to open them again!

A couple of my horsey friend's have just ridden past the front of my house and waved in through the window at me and the children - owww, that's what I really miss being pg!

Right dp not back til 8 so I'd better go and get the bath on for kiddiwinks, speak to you all tomorrow!

Oh before I go....ds looked down my top today, pointed and said' The baby will suck those for milk. How do we put the milk in there?'!!!

26+5 x x x

Ooh chacha, I've got a ripple waiting for me when I've put the children to bed!!

The answer to a man who asks " Whats for dinner?" should be " Whatever you feel like making when you come home darling"
You are pregnant and you should be resting. Just remember you will never get another chance to rest for the next 20 years so take it now.

tessasmum · 01/08/2005 19:59

ChaCha - yes you can take a Jane on a plane, we just let the tyres down a bit incase they decided to explode in depressurised hold.
Once Tessa was about a year we got a cheap ebay buggy for the plane (we go over to Belfast a lot to see my folks) as we didn't want to let Easyjet loose on our pride and joy too often. Paid £1 for ebay one and thought I'd be embarrased paying so little when I went to pick it up, however, it was only worth £1 by time I'd fumigated it/scrubbed it to within an inch of its life

Tired sort of day here as didn't sleep much last night. Not really pg related, just one of those nights. Therefore grumpy family all day. Not helped by having to spend nearly 2 hours in laundrette (with Tessa who lost interest after opening and closing all the doors about 10 times and then realising that I wasn't going to let her climb into any of the machines) trying to wash sleeping bags!

Tessa now fast asleep and I'm not going to be long!

26 weeks-ish

grumpton · 01/08/2005 21:02

Tessasmum - my DH is also a hoarder. We have 2 wardrobes - one is full of EMPTY CARDBOARD BOXES which I am forbidden to through out! Am off work now so am stealthily disposing of various pieces of junk !!! Had my ears sorted today - feel like a new woman
Saw my belly move for first time today-amazing I just cant stop laughing when it happens.

What's all this about loo roll test ?

novadandypowder · 01/08/2005 21:19

its something they started on the dec. thread - you measure all the way around your belly with toilet roll and we all compare sizes. Most people seem to be around 7/8 squares

Laylasmum · 01/08/2005 21:56

Hi everyone, just done the loo roll thing measured about 8.5 pieces but ripped it all 3 times before i did it properly!!
Am feeling big and heavy now can't believe i've got at least anoher 13 weeks won't be able to move by due date!!
Am getting stressed about money and finances at the mo , pregnancy makes everything such a drama doesn't it? its like you can't think like a rational, intelligent mother just a being who thinks she won't be able to feed and clothe her brood!!( bit excessive) just feel like i could do with a lottery win !!!
Does anyone on here do any extra work from home such as avon or those catalogue things? Just thought i might look into it if it would earn a bit of spending money for us all!!
anyway off for a nice bath now work tomorrow worse luck take care everyone xxx
27+1 wks

Diddle · 02/08/2005 08:38

Just wanted to say hi to the people I know, no joy for me this month, AF arrived 1 week late, got my hopes up then dropped them way down.
Hi to beksmum, rodeo1, chacha - and whats happened to Enthusia, haven't seen her on here for a while, is she ok?

novadandypowder · 02/08/2005 09:59

Is anyone else getting a bit freaked out that they have a living human being growing inside them? I looked at myself in the mirror last night and it made me feel very strange indeed.

Also, do you think baby's behaviour inside can reflect what it will be like outside? Bump seems to sleep all through the night, or at least i never get woken up by it, so my wishful thinking is hoping this will be a sign of things to come. Bump also seems quite chilled, whenever i prod it to try and make it kick it doesn't kick back. It is greedy though as it'll move like mad whenever i eat anything.

rodeo1 · 02/08/2005 10:26

Nova, I hope so! I have a chilled out bump too! ds was always always kicking - and kicking hard, he was a good baby though (really strong) and he's got a real athletic figure now even though he's only 3 and a half! Really excels at anything sporty, not really into his fine motor skills though (ie. all the things he'll be needing to do at school!!).

I did play him those 'music for the unborn baby' cd's, which I think helped give him his strength, but he always really used to fight with me at feeding time which resulted in my boobs being really sore! So I'm not playing them to this baby, I'm reading to it instead!

Any thoughts on feeding babe's yet?? I know the mw will be asking you all. I will be bf again, although the past 2 times I've had a really rough first 3 weeks, just really painful cracked and sore nips! But after those relatively short 3 weeks(!), it was soooo easy and lovely too. Juist really dreading those first weeks, I have quite dry and sensitive skin so I think it's just my skin breaking down and re-adjusting. Any tips advice welcome! Think I'll be spending a lot of time on the breast-feeding section of MN!!

Goodness I've gone on a bit, sorry to bore you all! Children at their activity morning again, might get the paddling pool out again if this weather holds out. Right I'm off to ebay to buy a new pair of Birkinstocks, my old ones are sh*gged out!

Speak to you all later..

ChaCha · 02/08/2005 10:26

Tessasmum - That's good to know, we travel abroad a few times a year to visit my dad and relatives so need to be sure that we can take one of those systems on a plane.

Nova - Snap! I have been feeling like that as of late. I mentioned on here the other day that DH put his ear to my belly only to be kicked in the head! It was hilarious but wonderful at the same time and we were both a bit speechless for a few minutes. I've seen my belly move and it is really strange (kind of alien like). I really cannot believe that i will have a baby...I'm still quite shocked by it all. This baby is over active and tires me out...DH reckons its because of the Dr.Pepper/Coke that i drink. Fizzy drinks are the only thing that keep me sane and i have cut down but it's not good is it?

Laylasmum - Have you thought of customer support (telephone) from home? Just a thought. I'm going to worry about income next year when i realise i just can't go out and shop whenever i feel like it and have to be dependent on other than myself!

Well my DH is away and so i'm all alone! I may talk to myself a few times on here today. Don't worry, not a sign of madness yet

Hey Diddle, nice to see ya. Are you still working hard? Got the kids throughout summer?

rodeo1 · 02/08/2005 10:32

Chacha, we were typing at the same time! Have you got an appt with MW yet?

My ds always seems to be able to get baby to kick his in the head - he loves it. Although he does get dissapointed when babe's asleep! I've started just tensing my muscles once quickly if 'she' is asleep to mimic a kick for him - which seems to keep him happy anyway!

Well enjoy your day, how's the weather where you are?

Did you e-mail Enthusia BTW?

OP posts:
ChaCha · 02/08/2005 10:43

Hiya Rodeo - I looked at my notes and realised that i'm not due an appt with GP until week 25 and m/w something like week 28 (duh!) so will make an appt next week. All i had to do was look at the notes!

Weather here is okayish. One minute sunny and then a bit dull. I'm still in 'can't be ar*ed' mode today but i MUST snap out of it..need some inspiration i think.

No news from Enthusia, am wondering if she is even in Spain!! Well, hope wherever she is that everything's okay and her absence is due to being too busy.

novadandypowder · 02/08/2005 11:02

chacha enjoy the can't be arsed-ness, unless of course there is something that desperately needs your attention (like cake making, sleeping, watching tv..). I spent a few months fretting over not doing anything, hence why i'm now signed up as a volunteer, have made curtains, and booked myself in for sewing and knitting courses at John Lewis. Now don't throw things at me, but we even have a cleaner, even though i'm at home all day (DH has had one since before we met).

Been having a nostalgia fest with DH listening to music we used to go clubbing to about 10 years ago. He's DJing on saturday night so we'll be able to relive those drunken nights once again (obv. without the drunkness on my part, and a lot more sitting down). It's great that we were both into the same scene even though we're 10 years apart in age.

ChaCha · 02/08/2005 11:07

Nova - I will copy and paste these words of wisdom onto a word document, print and stick in every room of the house

Enjoy your nostalgia fest! DH and I had similar tastes but we both had an 180 degree change in lifestyle so don't do any of that anymore. There is something nostalgic for me about listening to Mantronix ... very Ladbroke Grove on a Friday night! Ahhhh...

Diddle · 02/08/2005 11:10

chacha - yep still working very hard, got kids coming out of my ears. 5 today. phew, worn out already.

novadandypowder · 02/08/2005 11:11

re: feeding - i'm going to give breast feeding a go, but i'm getting increasingly nervous about it. I've always hated my nipples being touched (much to DH's annoyance) and the thought of something sucking on them all the time doesn't really do it for me. I've also seen how distressed my friend has got over having to breast feed, and the trouble she's had trying to introduce a bottle or two during the day to give her a break. We have it drummed into us all the time that breast is best and some discussions on MN have got quite heated, but at the moment i'm thinking that i would like to do half and half after the first 4 weeks, so that the feeding isn't solely down to me. However, having never done it before, it's difficult for me to say for definite (before i get more things thrown at me)

ChaCha · 02/08/2005 11:15

Hiya Diddle - you have got your work cut out huh? Awww...what would they do without you eh. Always crossing our fingers for you Diddle

I'm the same, rushed off my feet! I keep having this 'Little Britain' sketch come to my head, its hysterical. Everytime i want to get up and do something....'THE COMPUTER SAYS NOOOOO'

novadandypowder · 02/08/2005 12:06

oooooo exciting, i've just booked in for a 4d scan after my midwife appointment next week. We've been assured it'll be above waist only, but secretly wouldn't mind if they 'slipped' and we found out the flavour as the suspense is killing me. We're thinking it's a girl.

tex111 · 02/08/2005 12:11

Nova, I wouldn't worry about the breastfeeding too much. Just do what's best for you AND baby. It's no good for baby if Mum is stressed and unhappy with breastfeeding. I tried with Tobes and managed three weeks before I had to give it up. It just didn't work for us. There was the physical side of bleeding, sore nipples and constant mastitis and there was the psychological side that I disliked. I know some friends of mine love being the only person who can feed their baby in the first few weeks but it really got to me. I needed a break and it was all getting me down. It was my HV who finally convinced me to quit. I think I was leaning dangerously close to postnatal depression but once I gave up breastfeeding it felt like my load had lightened up and everything felt better. I did have some guilt but consoled myself with the fact that Toby had the benefit of the 'best bit' of breastfeeding, the colostrom that they get in the first few days. I think I gave him a good start but it just didn't work for us to keep it going.

Saying all that, I'm going to try again with this baby. Ideally, I'd love to breastfeed for the first six months or so but I'm not going to make the whole family stressed and unhappy like I did with Tobes. I'll definitely keep it going for the first week and then go from there. If it's working out, great. If it's not then I'll have another bottle baby.

tex111 · 02/08/2005 12:13

Oh, forgot to say I had my 3D scan on Friday. I've posted a few pics in my pregnancy journal here if you'd like to take a look. It was amazing!
