Morning all

Im in a good mood today!

NJ - I hope for the postmans sake, that he brings your stuff today!!!

MMM - pretty dull here too. don't think I will get up to much either!might drag myself out to town later.

Star - that is strange about DS but then Calpol is amazing stuff yes come on Im dying to know how the talk went we are all very bad influences on each other I think

Diege - hope DS is better now?? LOL at P&T's! I have already been looking

We have lots of talking going on here too. loads of things going on but think I may have to post in FB wagon.its all a bit up in the air at the mo...

Playing - glad you are finding time to pop in getting back to your earlier post - exactly same as what happened to you! This has really made me think about what I want as I was so disappointed with the outcome.

Kayz - hope you are ok today.

Hi to Cant, GBL, Tink, Rugby, Moosy, Ses, anyone else??

Diege · 12/03/2010 10:24

Hello! Oooh NAT I can hear footsteps coming up your drive...hee hee, did that make you look? Oh to have a class full of students like you!
GRUFF, will look out for messages on wagin fb...hope things are ok. Agree, we are very bad influences on each other . Ds seems ok now now - had first full mean this morning without being sick. Doesn;t help that he still has the cough he had about 3 weeks ago - will give it another few days then book him into gps, though it does sound 'loose' and upper resporatory.
MMM, a mooch around town would be good I think..it's pants when you're skint, but at least you'll get out and about and feel better for it.
Waiting for hairdresser at 11 - she was meant to be here yesterday but her nana sadly passed away, so obviously I wasn;t going to push it, even for my roots . She wants to come today though, so not going to refuse...
You know I've been thinking non-stop about no.5 for the last week . My age really is a factor, though I didn't realise how much the risks for things go up from 42 onwards (40 doesn;t seem that much more a big deal statistically than 39). Just airing my thoughts aloud...what woulkd you lot do if your eggs were on the turn like mine? I think my main (stupid) reservation is whatr people would say/think - - nuts I know. We have the space now, money would be tight but still worth us both working re: childcare costs as we're fortunate enough to both be in very good jobs...Someone give me a kick up the backside!

GruffaloSoldier · 12/03/2010 10:42

Diege get GOFing woman!!!!

Diege · 12/03/2010 10:49

Ooh so a 'get going ttc-ing' kick, as opposed to a 'stop being a nutter' kick??

GruffaloSoldier · 12/03/2010 11:01

exactly LOL!

tinkstoddleriswalking · 12/03/2010 11:38

oh trying ses diege

hope u have ur important mail nat

well :-

i decided to drive 30 mins to nearest mothercare straight after school and i got dd2s first outdoor walking shoes in there clarks

the lady measured her she is a 2.5f on her right foot and boderline 3f on her left foot

she brought out the red patent ones, the same in blue and some pink leather ones the same.

i asked her how much said the blue patent only £7 from sale last year and pink leather £8 from sale last year red patent full price £28

tried on the blue patent first slipped abit on her heel shame as cute

then went for the pink leather gorgeous so bought them bargain @ £8 they have lights and really suit her they are a 3e as she has tiny feet theses ones dont slip have to make sure the velcro is pulled across as much as poss

they were still in box and still had tag on

when i got home notice a couple of tiny marks on the leather nothing drastic i am just way 2 fussy with shoes guess more so as her first out door ones
guessing as they were from last years sale.
only a couple of white marks on one shoe and a tiny bit of yellow mark on other shoe strap plus leather rubbing over cant complain for £8 really pleased they r very cute

she has had her first walk outside in them bless her all go now
and they should last her ages

as i had spare money i bought in mothercare :-

new socks for dd2
tites with different patterns on each leg, pink princess reins and a tiny hello kitty ball plus a sweet white tshirt with luv on have seen some other cute tshirts in there one had an apple on luv apples

pooped to sainsburys next door after needed a few bits then came home so having a great day

cold here still and dark!!!

NatalieJane · 12/03/2010 12:35

WARNING IN ADVANCE: THIS POST WILL BE VERY LOUD!

It's here!!!

OK, on a very serious note, there is a LOT of work, more than I had imagined, and all the course notes are on a CDrom and you can buy them in an 'NDA designed' ringbinder, no less, for £25 (price creeping up constantly, CD rom is a PITA so will deffo get that) but it all seems pretty straight forward and well, other than getting my tongue round some of the technical words, a lot of it is as I hoped in that I already have a good idea about the first few chapters I've just read, may not know the technical words yet, but I am aware of what they mean IYKWIM? Also on a practical note, there is a lot of A3 photo copying to be done, but I know the library has a photocopier, just hoping it is a big colour one!

On a much less serious note:

Diege · 12/03/2010 13:29

A single seems very inadequate now NAT Your mayterials sound excellent and so glad the course is what you were wanting too. Agree, worth paying for notes (bit cheeky that, but hey)and good that you already have familiarity with the ideas and themes etc. Very excited for you
TINKS, great going with the shoe shops. For £8 you can't argue, plus give dd a few weeks and there will be more than a few marks on them
Hairdresser been, so feeling very 'swishy'. Lots of layers put in, but still looks 'long' (without looking like hairdresser's hair iykwim) so pleased. And greys??? GONE!
And a sneaky thanks to GRUFF too

NatalieJane · 12/03/2010 14:11

I have calmed down a bit!

Will deffo be getting the hard copy notes, went to find where I'd stopped reading and it took me about 5 minutes, the whole course is all on one Adobe page, it is hidiously long.

But have now had a proper read through the first assignments and I don't think it will be as much work as I thought, just need to get the proper equipment, got to wait till at next week before I can even order it though, need to make sure if we spend all that money we're going to have enough left to get through DS1's bday and eat for the of the rest of the month.

So the waiting still isn't over, I could start the second part of the first assignment now (drawing a scale plan and elevation of an example room they've provided), we've got A3 paper, a pencil and rular, but it would take me DAYS to do it without a drawing board, set square and scale rule, and it would just look a mess with rubbed out pencil marks all over it etc. Also first part is an, albeit small, essay on colour, the theories and practicalities, blah blah blah. Can't do that till I get some proper paper, we've got cheap crappy almost see through stuff that we buy for the kids to use, but want to do it properly!

And after all the build up of 'the poor postie' my friend rang, so I was talking to her, I saw the postie turn the corner, was watching him getting closer and closer, all the while trying to carry on a normal conversation with friend, he get's to the door, I do a very casual "Oh hang on a sec, postman's a-knocking" to friend, grab it off the postie with a very curtious "thank you" take it into the kitchen. Trying to open the envelope without ripping it all, friend's still gabbing in my ear, so I'm looking at a load of papers trying to read them whilst still conversing, my mob. went off (never usually works in the house, so just shows how it was all stacked against me) was DH texting to see if it was here, couldn't reply, read and talk, so ignored it DS2 came in singing "poo poo" so had to then change his bum, but was good because used it as excuse to get off phone (!), changed him, phone rings - DH, "Is it there yet?" Me , "Yes, but (repeat above)" DH "Shall I leave you to it?" Me "Yes please" LOL Bless him, rang me back an hour later

Think I'd have handled the feather boa and handcuffs scenario a bit better!

Tink, glad you got her some shoes, they sound like a great bargain! Bet she loved walking about outside, from what you've said, she deffo has the confidence for it!

Diege, glad your hair is swishified, must admit, it is one of the things I don't like about having long hair, when I have it done, it never really feels/looks any different to the last time I had it done, but, at the same time, I actually don't want it to look different, just miss that new hair feeling! Is that sneeky thanks to Gruff a 'thanks for the bruise' or 'thanks for making me decide to TTC'?

Hello to everyone else, did you know my stuff came?

NatalieJane · 12/03/2010 14:11

Oh wow, that was a bit big, how did that happen?

Playingatmotherhood · 12/03/2010 14:19

Nat I think you have every right to be excited. Good on you, sounds brilliant to me.

Liking the ttcing chats, sounds like we might have a bit of GOFing on the wagon . Lets have more wagon babies

Deige if you have enough love, space and just about enough cash why shouldn't you extend your family? Go with what feels right for you and forget about everyone else.

Gruff - had forgotten all about the fb wagon, will have to keep an eye out.

Tink those shoes are a bargin. Did you manage to get proper shoes from Clarks in a 2.5 then? Our clarks only has them from a 3.

NatalieJane · 12/03/2010 14:46

I think I'll leave the more wagon babies to everyone else, DH has his snip Monday after next so hopefully soon it will be nigh on an impossibility. Aww that's quite sad in a way isn't it? It does worry me a bit because even though I am 100% sure that I don't want anymore, I do still have my odd days where the thought of another baby doesn't leave my mind for a second, and I don't know if knowing that it can't happen is going to be easy to deal with, but at the same time, I know that a week later I'll be back to deffo not wanting a no.4 and it'll have all been for nothing. Stupid bloody hormones!

Got a question already, probably for Diege, but anyone else's thoughts welcome Is it expected now that any written work is printed out rather than hand written? It doesn't mention how written work should be presented, and although there are many messages all over the paperwork and the CD rom of 'Any questions, please ring...' I don't want to look a divvy not knowing this one! If it was just a straight forward essay I'd type it, but, they want clippings from magazines, paint charts, fabric swatches etc. within the text, makes it a bit tricky re. layout of print out.

gingerbreadlatte · 12/03/2010 15:01

I love this thread!!
Afternoon everyone

Nat! hurray for postie and I love the multiple

Diege- yay for number 5!! go for it girl!

Playing- glad you are coming back for more! we have you hooked... You have clearly stirred lots of #2 thoughts on the wagon and its infectious. I found myself sitting in a meeting this morning thinking maybe a small age gap would be good so I can do the head/body/work being messed about by babies bit all in one go! but still- no chance for a little while.

Kay- sorry to hear your news but you sounds cool about it. Thinking of you if you are lurking

Rugby- glad you had a better day. I know what you mean about the first couple of hours. Its like jetlag. I can recall lots of calls to DH at work after nights like that saying "I cant do this" - didnt go down too well that!

Tink- hurray for shopping. You went to the supermarket and no easter egg purchased???!

Star- how did the chat go with DH? Any more mini stars on the horizon...? (think your post got me thinking too....)

Hello MMM

I should go as i should be working will be lurking Back laters!

gingerbreadlatte · 12/03/2010 15:13

Nat- I'd expect all written work to be printed or done electronically now. Only exams seems to be done by hand these days.
Im sure Diege will advise us though.

Rugbylovingmum · 12/03/2010 15:14

Hi all,

Nat - hooray!!! . Have a fun weekend reading through it all and planning your first essay!

Diege - yah for haircut, I love that new haircut feeling. Oh yes and KICK - if you have the space and money why not get ttcing DC5. Who cares what anyone else thinks.

Tink - shoes sound lovely and what a bargain!

Gruff - glad you are in a good mood today - any special reason or just that Friday feeling?

We've had a fun morning at Songbox, C loves watching the other kids and today she was really loud 'singing' along. It's very funny to hear - everyone was laughing and smiling at her which just encouraged her to carry on yelling and giggling.

Tink - do you do Sing and Sign? I'm thinking about taking DD next term - is it good?

Gruff and Ses (and anyone else who can help) can I ask a couple of questions about BLW. Did you let your DCs eat everytime you had something right from the start? I'm surprised how much she munches on during the day - yesterday she had some muesli, banana and some of my scrambled egg at breakfast, pitta bread, hummous, chicken and tomato at lunch (eating from my plate) and courgette, broccoli, carrot and banana for dinner . She seems to be getting quite a bit down (as well as all over herself ) already. I load the muesli on to a spoon then hand it to her but the rest she grabs herself so I assume she won't take more than she wants/needs. She seems well and is still wolfing down her breasfeeds, I'm just shocked how hungry she seems just now. Also did you let them have almost anything right from the start - I was just giving her fruit and veg for the first week but she was grabbing at bread, pasta and chicken etc on our plates so I've just let her have it. I try to limit bread and cheese as they are salty and make sure she has new foods at breakfast/lunch in case she has a reaction but other than that did you just let them go for it as long as it's healthy stuff?

gingerbreadlatte · 12/03/2010 15:27

Hey rugby

your BLW sounds like its going brilliantly, especially so early on. She is clearly ready for it! I'd keep going as she is doing so well. Have you read the book? or looked at the website?

here

The forums are great for questions and food ideas. I'd perhaps give her the salty things less regularly maybe once a week for stuff like cheese etc. The only thing we havent given is shellfish and nuts now.

I really really love the decision we made to BLW. DD is miles ahead of peers in terms of holding cutlery and feeding herself. She's held her own cup and bottle since she started and is quite independent with it these days. Apparently she was eating soup with a spoon and nursery the other day, whilst dipping the bread in and eating it with the other hand. I was quite pleased since she is behind in all aspects of physical movemment developement.

gingerbreadlatte · 12/03/2010 15:28

think the thing about BLW is that they learn to self regulate so wont eat more than they need. DD is really clear when she's had enough. It usually end up on the floor. We are working on that one!

gingerbreadlatte · 12/03/2010 15:30

Am i supposed to be working? opps

tinkstoddleriswalking · 12/03/2010 15:31

hello ladies

went back to mothercare and took back reins, tites etc
swapped dd2s shoes wasnt happy with them i am very fussy with shoes and especially as they r her first shoes.
got her the red patent ones r gorgoeus
the sale ones looks awful even the clarks stitching didnt look right thought it was weird that she had a couple of pairs in the cupboard that were so low in price i should have checked them properley @ the time
they looked awful
i would rather dd2 damaged the shoes, they almost looked like they had been worn
thinking also if they were sale they could have been tried on loads and loads
all in all all good didnt really need the bits in mothercare apart from the reins which i can get another time

playing her new shoes are in a 3e - her left foot is bodering on a 3f and her right is a 2.5f
so just got away with a 3

rugby sing and sign is fantastic definetly do it did it with dd1 too

great news natx1000

Rugbylovingmum · 12/03/2010 15:43

Oops GBL, that BLW question was meant to be addressed to you . Thanks!

gingerbreadlatte · 12/03/2010 16:05

LOL Rugby- was answering anyway- anything to avoid sorting out my inbox!!

Tink- im impressed at your control at taking back the reigns.

Diege · 12/03/2010 16:55

Afternoon . Thanks for all the positive comments re: ttc no. 5 . I think it's something I need to mull over for some time yet - ideally 2 or 3 years, but due to age can't really leave it that long, so thinking decision a bit sooner than that. I know it doesn;t matter at all, but my midwife made some real digs about having no.4 (nothing personal I don't think), and it's sort of stayed with me and I'd feel scared (did I just say 'scared'??!!) of going back to her! And my mum...well doesn;t bear thinking about! And I really am 14 years old . Just need final wagon nod from G&T
TINKS, you know I had a feeling you'd go back with those shoes. Sometimes sale things can be a false economy, as in this case, and excellent on your restraint with the reins (maybe treat yourself now with a boden t-shirt. or at least a choc egg? )
GING, RUGBY etc really interesting all this BLW talk. Not something I did or probably would do at a conscious level (I sort of thought I was a bit putting stuff out and letting him grab/drop as he feels fit...that's more laziness though on my half!), but really great hearing your experiences. Who was it who had a hard time off NCT? Don;t get that at all...obviously a little insecure about their own choices!
NAT, yep work is usually wordprocessed and submitted electronically, either by e-mail or in a digital dropbox (don't ask) although we still have the facility to accept hard copies (ie, paper) and also handwritten if exceptional circumstances (eg. Irlam's syndrome which can cause headaches using computers). I am feeling very excited for you!
Well my made to measure curtains for dd3's room have arrived and they are gorgeous (thank god I allowed an extra inch - just long enough!). Not going to put up until room is papered, which will be end of month. All coming together now!
Dds watching 'We are the Champions' as dd1's school in the final!!. So lots of screaming from lounge, with ds furiously banging on xylophone to join in

tinkstoddleriswalking · 12/03/2010 17:06

i am going to get myself some nintendo ds games @ the end of this month luv it and so does dd1
wouldnt og had the money for shoes if i hadnt of taken back reins etc!!
dh is going to buy reins on amazon
if u want a number 5 go for it shame about midwife perhaps she was worried about the effects on the body

cantmummyhaveabreak · 12/03/2010 17:21

haven't properly caught up- just skimmed last page...

Shit day here and just need to offload and run- feel free to ignore!!

Was at my course today, Car broke down, luckily the garage we bought it off are fab and 2 of their mechanics came and fixed the problem, but it needs a part replacing next week, more bloody money!!

Then when DH picked me up he said we'd got a letter and that DD2 had been reffered to a 'specail needs' clinic for developmental problems!! WTF???? No-one told me she was being reffered, no one said it was that urgent and i'm really pissed off!! I'm angry no-one gave us prior warning of this check and tests etc... i'm angry that she's not being given time... i mean she's bum-shuffeling a bit since anyone proffesional saw her!! And i'm bloody upset that she's been reffered. If she's found to have something wrong then i'll also feel guilty for not noticing earlier, or getting my little niggles looked into further....

When DH got the letter he phoned up to find out why we'd been reffered and who by, but the stupid receptionist was really shirty with him and just said no-one was there to talk to him and they'd phone us on monday- I now have 3 days to wait till i can talk to someone about it, and find out what they're coming for.... then I have till the 24th till they come!!

I'm upset have cried lots since coming home and just needed to get it all out...

Thanks- am off for tea now. Might get on tomorrow when DH is at work.

Diege · 12/03/2010 18:07

CANT I'm so on your behalf, but not surprised tbh as hear some many things like this happening. Their communication is apalling, and I'm not surprised you're upset.Obviously some box ticker somewhere has done just that, with little regard for your feelings or (as seems likely) a proper understanding/assesment of dd2. We had something similar with dd1 and her hearing (which was absolutely fine) and ended up not going to the appointment. Obviously you and dh's call, but seems odd that nothing was mentioned to you and I'd say you had nothing to worry about. Hope you can get some answers Monday - what a pain having to wait. Hope you're ok (( )) xx
