maxxymoosmummy · 07/03/2010 16:46

lazy duvet day turned into a nap on the couch, altho was only an hour as DS came home, but feeling awake now. got a tired little man rubbing his head on my arm wanting cuddles so going to go and get him settled will be back later no doubt,
RUGBY day yesterday sounds good
SES you are very lucky getting help
at times wish i had the help in a morning / night. but even when DSs dad is round he doesnt bother doing the bedtime routine.

essenceofSES · 07/03/2010 20:21

Roast was yummy

Diege - prompted by your question, I thought I'd just check with DH again about ttc timescales. He agreed we're still on track to ttc from May &
Don't get too excited though, it took ages to conceive (even the first time) last time. Also I just don't know when we're going to get chance Will definitely have to be scheduled GOFing I think!

DH has also told me this evening that he plans on doing the foundations for our extension (himself!!) over 2 wkends by the end of April!!!

Hello tink and MMM!

maxxymoosmummy · 07/03/2010 20:54

heya SES yay for TTC from may

Diege · 07/03/2010 21:50

Hey SES that's brilliant news 3 months to go! Get popping that folic acid
Watching results of dancing on ice then bed for me. Childminder is in hospital for 2 weeks, so me and dh having to do school run between us...I've got Mon, Thursday and Friday to do (luckily off work for dentists appoitment tomorrow) but will be tricky to work things out the following week .
Speak tomorrow, x

Kayzr · 08/03/2010 08:14

Morning,

DS1 is off on holiday with MIL today for a week. I am going to miss him so much!!!

Monday is weigh in day and I have lost a pound this week which takes me to a stone since Xmas, still got another 4 to go but I am happy!!

Hope everyone is ok.

gingerbreadlatte · 08/03/2010 08:31

Just a quick one this morning. I?m back at the office this week so this is a sneaky MN post before getting sucked back into work. I just hope DD is ok at nursery today. She hasn?t been sick since Friday but she isn?t her usual self with food at all? fingers crossed she is ok today. Why is it that the nursery always calls me and not DH to tell me she is poorly?

Ses- hurray for TTC in May! That?s so close! I?m so excited for you! I was LOLing about the scheduled GOFing though. Your Sundays sounds very much like ours, we always have a Sunday meal together at 4.30ish. Its my favourite time of the week
Good to hear that your DH is doing ?his share?. Honestly though I?ve no idea how some husbands get away with doing so little when both partners are working (and when they aren?t!). There is no way I could work full time if DH didn?t do the nursery drop offs every day and a good 50% share of the care. A lot of my friends work (albeit part time) and their partners do virtually nothing to help at all. I think a lot of them hide behind the ?you do it so much better? story - shocking! Sorry- mini rant there!

Kay- hope you don?t miss DS1 too much!

Hope everyone else is ok today

Rugbylovingmum · 08/03/2010 09:17

Morning,

DD had a really unsettled night last night so I am very tired . Bless her, she seemed to be trying to sleep but just couldn't settle, whenever I went in and put a hand on her chest she snuggled down and lay still then her arm would start jerking and she twitched a bit then she would turn her head from side to side sighing loudly. It was funny, she looked just like me when I can't sleep . Does that sometimes happen when they start on solids? I didn't think she was getting much in but she had some carrot, broccoli and apple yesterday and from the evidence in her nappy this morning she definitely swallowed some of it.

Kayz - hope you don't miss DS1 too much. I'm quite looking forward to DD being able to spend a weekend with my parents once I stop bfing.

Diege - another York meet up would be great. I just hope we get some better weather soon - it seems to have been cold and wet since I started ML and I'm looking forward to some sun soon [hopeful smiley].

GBL - I hope DD is okay at nursery today!

NatalieJane · 08/03/2010 10:04

Good morning

Hope you all had good weekends? We kind of did a lot of nothing I cleaned every single inch of the bathrooms (was worth it for the excuse of not having to go to MIL's with DH and they boys! ) We made a good start on a model of a Celt Round House for DS1's school competition, we got the car all washed and hoovered and cleaned out ready for it to go when we pick the new car up (hopefully tonight, not sure yet), kids spent a load of time out int he garden pretending they weren't actually freezing cold just because the sun was shining(!) and I have come up with the final plan for the dining room to office changeover. It's going to be very modern and completely different to the rest of the house, but I am sure the house can take the contrast. I'm getting a huge white Billy bookcase system (Ikea - cheap and cheerful!) a huge white desk, a white plan chest (you know, shallow drawers to hold lots of big paper?!) and a white desk chair, then going to accessorise with white, dark grey, and bright orange. Probably sounds/reads horribly but I know what it will be like when it's done and it's going to be great!

Right catch up time!

MMM, fingers crossed you got a better sleep again, it makes such a difference when your shattered. Glad you all enjoyed the zoo

Diege, hope DS's cough is better? And glad they sorted your card quickly, hope shopping went very well

Tink, glad you recieved all the clothes/other things! (That light thing with the buttons looks really nice!) And wow about DD2's walking! DS3 is as lazy as his brothers, he's standing and cruising, but would rather crawl than walk!

Can't, glad you're enjoying your course so much

Gruff, really sorry about the doctorate, but as you and others have said, it sound's like you've got other, just as exciting things planned!

Hi Smithy! Gosh it has gone quickly! Are the girls settling in? They probably feel like they've lived there for years, we moved nearly 6 months ago, and DS1 barely even mentions our old house/town anymore (still a few comments about his old friends, but he's seen them a bit and he talks to them on the phone and Club Penguin/Moshi Monsters.)

GBL, glad DD seems to be over the worst of it. Hopefully she'll be completely back to normal within a few days

Ses, May is really close, v.v.v. exciting!

Rugby, sound's like you had a lovely weekend And you do realise that any potential house buying has to be passed by the wagoners because obviously the more opinions you have on it the better and we're all nosy

Kay, you're very brave letting him go for a week, DS1 keeps on that he want's to go to my mum's for a week in the 6 weeks hols, the only thing that makes me think 'not in a million years sunshine', is I don't know how I'd handle him not being here he may be nearly as tall as me, and no longer my little baby, but the thought of not seeing him for even a day makes my stomache turn! In fact reading that, I think I need to let him go really don't I?!

Goodness me, this post is going to be huge!

maxxymoosmummy · 08/03/2010 10:10

mornin everyone, was up in the night being sick, but fine now its wierd. need togo to the shops in bit, but atm DS is asleep. as he woke earlier than normal.
NJ we all enjoyed the zoo thanks smile] it was a great day.

largeginandtonic · 08/03/2010 11:16

Hola ladies. Apols for absence. Have been manic with sick children and PARTY'S with Gordon Brown

How are you all? Anything exciting happening? Nat pregnant yet?

I am trying to work out when my last period was. I am thinking January, end of. Don't feel pregnant and have been careful with the contraception.

Could just be settling down form stopping the pill though right?

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 08/03/2010 12:16

MMM, doesn't sound like a good night

LG&T cheeky cowbag No, no more babies for me thankyouverymuch! In fact started taking a new pill 10 days ago when my period started and I'm still bleeding, starting to get pretty pissed off now, usually stop bleeding after 3/4 days, so it's obviously this bloody pill. DH is having his snip on the 22nd though so not too much longer and I can stop taking it anyway! Will be far too busy being a student career woman for such things as babies anyway!

What's this about a party? And um, when you gonna test?!

Starshinetiger · 08/03/2010 13:08

Hi All, another fleeting visit from me (sorry for my popping in and out) from work - tut, tut, shouldn't really, but hey, MN is far more interesting than work today!

Gruff - sorry about course, but sounds like you have lots of options anyway. Also, I guess you can reapply another year if you want to? May work out for the best, if it means you get to focus more time on being with GC (and future cubs ) for the time being? I know you will be disappointed though.

Nat - excited for you for course. Room sounds great too!

Kayz - glad you and DH are getting back on track and hope it continues to be positive. Congrats on 1 stone weight loss, is really good going!

Tink - you never fail to disappoint on shopping front. Hope DD2 is feeling better today.

Diege - at bank card problems. Sounds awful to me and such bad timing with your shopping trip planned with friend - are you sure your DH hasn't been up to tricks to curb your spending

Gin - am sure it is just hormones settling down after coming off pill or are you seriously thinking it could be anything else?! Sorry for poorlies with children, hope they are all well now.

GBL - hope you had a good couple of days at home with DD despite her being ill. There does seem no end to the nursery bugs does there?!

Ses - sounds like you and O have both settled really well into you going back to work Your DH is doing a grand job too and sounds like you've found a great way of working together - I think lots of couples underestimate how hard it will be to truly partner on the parenting/household.

MMM - glad your feeling a bit better about your worries and sleeping better.

Smithy - lovely to see you back, sometimes see your updates on FB and sounds like you have settled in well to US life. Hope you are all enjoying it.

Rugby - yay for weaning - is exciting to reach a new phase isn't it!

Well, took the children to my Mum's for the weekend to escape the mess kitchen work. Should be finished by the end of this week - v. exciting! Then just the flooring for downstairs and the tiling in kitchen and painting of walls to sort out. Had a great time at my Mum's and the DC really enjoyed it - DS didn't want to come home! Am still not convinced that we've found the right childcare arrangement either. We're considering that DD is possibly wheat intolerant as she hasn't really had it at home and doesn't get it through bm as I am wheat intolerant so don't eat it. Since she started having it at nursery she's been really uncomfortable at night and had loads of wind. Over weekend has had none and doesn't seem so uncomfortable or windy now, so we're providing food for her for next two weeks to see if it makes an improvement, then off to nutritionist in 2 weeks... we'll see. But, more worrying is DS - he has been much slower to settle to nursery (although loves his pre-school bit he still gets to go to), has started sleep-walking at night and is grinding his teeth in his sleep lots too... But, as my role in work is only a project until July and I don't know what I'll be doing after that and then would really like to go to 3 days a week, am reluctant to change childcare now and then have to change again if it doesn't fit with new circumstances... We're considering a nanny, so anyone with any advice on how to go about that, grateful for responses.

On a happier note, DD took a few steps between people/objects at the weekend (and was really delighted with herself), so think she is itching to actually get going with the walking

Right, another humongous response from me - I do get to check on the thread more regularly than I get to post, so am thinking of you all

Really must get on with work!

tinkstoddleriswalking · 08/03/2010 13:26

still cant believe how confident she is walking just walks all the time is so confident and sturdy wont let u help her

Diege · 08/03/2010 16:50

Hello! Just a quick one in between dropping off/picking up etc etc..
Good to hear from you G&T - might you be ttc-ing again soon anyway do you think? Oh and was the Gordon Brown ref anything to do with mum of the year??? Come on, spill
NAT, offcie plans sound great. I think matchy matchy in houses/rooms is a bit twee - sure it will look great
TINKS, you have made me start to think abaout summer shoes!!! Doodles, as always, are the business IMO
Bought out H&M this morning on way to dentists . I really love their bright boy's wear, esp the leggings and tops, and seem much easier to get on and off J than jeans etc!
RUGBY, I think spring is here! Did you say you had plans to buy in York? Agree, meet-up in spring/summer would be good.
STAR, wow you sound busy!!!! Hope you can get the possible wheat intoleranec sorted - think it is more common than peopel realise. Re: nanny would it be a live-in one?
Hope you're OK MMM and sickness doesn't come back!

GruffaloSoldier · 08/03/2010 20:34

Evevning all!

Thanks for all the comments re the doctorate. I am def looking at it as a "meant to be"! I am not planning on TTC just yet but I am hoping it won't be too long a wait. Star - I am planning to reapply in a few years yes. I am going to email them for some feedback so I can see what I can do in the future to make application stronger.

GC is practically running now and can get up off the floor without holding on to anything - he is so funny. only trouble is the running walking nineteen to the dozen makes the falling over so much worse when its fast as he ends up going onto his face with the momentum! am going to try and upload some videos to FB later, tried to at the weekend but it wouldn't work. He also is pointing at things, signing lots (drink, food, milk, hooray...) and is just so much fun atm!!

GBL - hope being back at work ok and SG on the mend!

I managed to get my three assignments in yesterday. Got three more to do for next deadline...Im having a break tonight though!

Star - I know a couple of websites that advertise nannies, childcare.co.uk and nannyjob.co.uk. You can also ask local agencies. I think the best thing would be to ask around neighbours/local friends as they may know someone who knows someone etc!!Its always best to get reccomended. I think direct gov website give some good advice on things to look out for when interviewing and things to ask. Probably on the websites I just mentioned too.

Kayz - I know you will miss DS1 heaps but due to the recent circumstances it will probably do you good to have a rest - make sure you make the most of it!

Rugby - hope you get a better night sleep tonight!

MMM - hope you haven't had any more sickness!

Diege - think we have had this convo before but I HEART H&M! Most of GC's wardrobe is H&M, I love it and he always looks FAB although he does wear their jeans alot!

Right I think I've rambled on enough!

Sorry to anyone I've missed!

Diege · 08/03/2010 22:08

Hello! Off to bed any minute. Just watched part one of the fab documentary on feminism on BBC4 - great to put faces to names! Just the bottles to do now (oh the irony...)
GRUFF, as a fellow H&M-er (sounds a bit rude that ) check out the Hedgepig website - I've ordered ds a pair of the lion trousers for summer - very similar styling, being scandinavian I suppose. Love H&M jeans too - J had a cuffed pair from there on today. Sounds like asking for feedback woulf be an excellent idea, though bet you didn't do anything wrong as such, just a case of so many excellent candidates for so few places!
Right, better get on - 6am start tomorrow . Night all!
OH NAT I NEED ADVICE!!!! (or anyone else though I seem to remember Nat being the person who did the research on trampolines recently..we need to buy a trampoline for the garden tomorrow (long story) Any advice as to which to get and where from??? Dh has his credit card awaiting to need help urgently before he thinks better of it and outs it away

Moosy · 08/03/2010 23:05

Evening all, remember me?

I've been lurking and keeping up just never seem to get time to post...

Nat your course sounds great, I might come to you for advice in a few months when our new house is ready!

Diege, we have a Plum 8" trampoline with enclosure which we got last year for £100 from Argos, it's great and they love it although you might need to go abtut bigger to fit your 4 on!

Kayz I hope things are better with your dh now and enjoy the time with just 1 ds!

Gruff GC sounds so cute trying to run already and I loved the video you put on fb of him walking

GBL hope the poorly bugs have left you now, I'm almost phobic about child sick too, it's fine when it's me but I panic when it's someone else and I'm not in control of it! Control freak? Moi? ;)

Sorry to those I've missed, I'm falling asleep here!

Fizzy's 3 months old now and feeds at 7pm then wakes for a feed at either 4.30 or somewhere between 6.30 and 8 so I really can't complain as I'm getting plenty of sleep (except when I stay up too late!).

The barn is coming along well too and we're putting our house on the Market next month even though the new house won't be ready for about 3 months yet! Eeeeek!

largeginandtonic · 09/03/2010 07:10

Negative Nat. Phew.

No excuse for my round tummy then!

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 09/03/2010 07:36

Morning

Have read but can't remember most 2 hours sleep last night, I am going to be a wreck and unable to concentrate on anything by the time the stuff arrives! Also have yukky cold, liquid coming out of everywhere, have hurt my shoulder/neck somehow, and DS2 is in the mother of all moods already, and he's only been awake for 5 minutes - lovely day ahead methinks. And now I've finished moaning I feel a lot better!

Right what I do remember...

Diege, we bought this one for DS1, don't know how good/bad it is yet because it's not his bday till next week, but his big bouncy castleis made by the same company and it is great, delivery was quick and simple, and they do the bigger 12ft version for £190. Another good place to look is Fun4Kids, they're usually the cheapest for outdoor things.

LG&T, IIRC you were kind of TTC'ing without trying too hard, was that right? Oh and, I was 9 days late before a BFP with the moody one....

Moosy, sounds like the barn is really coming on V. exciting! Doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago the work was only just starting!

Gruff, glad you aren't too down hearted re. the doctorate, I think asking for feedback is a great idea.

Right, that's it, I can't remember anymore, sorry if I've left anything important?

Spose, I'd best go and get their breakfast. See you all in a bit x

gingerbreadlatte · 09/03/2010 07:59

Morning

Hello Gin! I got all exciting reading through the posts and then I got the negative one shame! Although I am sure you are relieved.

Great to see you back

Gruff- I cant believe IÃ?Â?ve not seen you since the day at SesÃ?Â?s for the meet up. I'm really missing our coffee afternoons at the Bridge. The cub sounds so cute with his running about.

Hi Moosy! nice to have you back, hope you stay for a while (says the girl who can go 2wks without posting)! How is your littlest bundle? Hurray for another vomit phobic (does that sound weird?!). I am exactly like you- I'm fine with myself as long as I don't have an audience (I can recall demanding for the MW and DH to leave the room for this reason during labour.. did they? No!) but knowing a kid or adult is likely to puke really puts me on edgeÃ?Â?. Really need to get over it though, I am sure I have many more puke incidents to deal with over the years

Nat- your office furniture sounds great.

Tink- LOL for eyeing up shoes. I should hire you as my personal shopper as I really need to get some summer stuff sorted for DD. And where can I get a light weight coat that doesn't have a bloody hood! I hate them especially in the car.

Went out with my NCT lot last night for dinner. Was really nice and we had lovely food. Did have a slight weird moment though as the subject kept coming around to everyone asking what I was doing for x,y,z things etc. I cant help feeling a teensy bit judged talked about for a few things of my 'alternative'(discovered via MN) approaches to parenting. Was a bit odd but got the clear feeling that my continued breastfeeding (wont be for much longer though), view on car seats, nappies and weaning were subject of much amusement amongst them. When I mentioned my natal hypno therapy (as I was going to lend it to someone in the group (who I now suspect was taking the p*ss on the subject) and doppler (offered to lend it to her too) they were in hysterics I need to not care about what others think but I do especially as I never see them and I know their capacity for gossiping about others!. Or maybe I should become a sheep like the rest of them and do everything the same!

Sorry- rant over.

Morning everyone- sorry for me post again. Better go as I need to do some work

gingerbreadlatte · 09/03/2010 08:01

ooh hi nat, xposted!

NatalieJane · 09/03/2010 08:19

GBL, I know how you feel re. suspecting they are taking the piss (sim. situation on same subjects between me and a certain someone that I'm not going to mention because I think she secretly reads what I write on here) I think it's their problem/s, if they are that straight laced that they couldn't possibly see the benefits of different parenting techniques, well, what are they teaching their children? That the world is black and white, and anyone that thinks different is kidding theirselves? I think growing up as 1 of 5 girls, all of whom have wildly different ideas of what's best/right, has taight me that it really does all boil down to 'each to their own', and the very worst thing that anyone can do is to become the sheep. Everyone is entitled to their own ideas and thoughts, and as long as no harm is coming to anyone then who's bloody business is it anyway? So, take a deep breath and stick your tongue out at them when they're not looking

largeginandtonic · 09/03/2010 08:38

Agree with Nat RE tongue sticking out! Everyone has their own way of doing things. It is all trial and error with children. Those who are smug will have a hard life.

I am NOT TTC Nat. Oh no. Have been very careful. Dh away for most of this year. No way i want to be prg without him here to help out.

I don't 'feel' pregnant. I am not. End of. Shhhhhhh.

Blardy school run never stops. After school stuff seems to go on and on. It is ridiculous. I may strike.

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 09/03/2010 08:46
