HI all
Just got back from sil. Was quite chilled and dd was well behavied which was a blessing.

Half term next week so have a couple of days off which will be lovely.

firerise so mean to make your dh dress up - you will have to tell us how it all went! Atm I would take bath salts over a circus workshop lol.

Jojobil v. mean of the seller, why didn't she put the reserve higher? V. strange. My sil has a three wheeler being sold by an independent trader on ebay that is similar to the Quinny which she prefers (she traded in her Quinny to get it) I am tempted as the bigger wheels seem to do better in the country. Going to wait until I pass my driving test because it will be rubbish to fold up to get on the bus with.

Am feeling some flutters but only if I am stilling still and relaxed.

Jojobil · 14/02/2010 18:04

Wonder she said she should have put a reserve and she regrets it now and she just can't let it go for that little. But it's a little late after the auction finished!
Anyway I can not let things get me down as I have enough on my plate. I am sure I'll find something better. P.S. I just passed my driving test in October and it took me a few times before I did. Fingers crossed you get it straight away

About breastfeeding it is a personal issue. My daughter was amazing and all went well after an emergency c-section. But my mum could not breastfeed me and a few of my friends had to give up. I think there is no point in doing it if mum is stressed out. Better to have quality time a bottlefeed!

flexab23 · 14/02/2010 19:20

Evening ladies. I've started bidding on travel systems on ebay. Jojobil that is really rude of her but I guess there is nothing you can do - what a cow!!

We lost out on an icandy apple this morning at the last minute - sometimes I just hate ebay! But got 4.5 months to go so here's hoping we swoop at the right time!

Beckyg can I be cheeky and ask where you are getting your icandy from and how much?

We are in London so planning to get advice adn shopping list from John Lewis but then shop around on prices. Would onl be able to get new icandy if we get contributions from family and don't want to be too cheeky. I think icandy apples are about £700 aren't they but not sure how much kit that includes...gosh who knew you could spend so much money?!

Jojobil · 14/02/2010 19:30

I would not have put it better myself flexab23 I did leave her negative feedback as she was very flaky and made me chase her for a bit then just cancelled on me. ( I think Ebay calls it seller non-performance) So at least others will be warned!

The good thing about buying a new pram is that all is in order and you can then re-sale it for a high price. So you get at least 50% of your money back. But with second hand you can just replace a wheel or other part that needs it and you've got the same thing for a more affordable price... I always like to have everything sorted early. Don't fancy hanging around busy and crowded shops in the heat with a big belly

Chulita · 14/02/2010 20:10

Ah! Prams...I'm having a debate at the mo wrt to those things.

We don't have the money to buy a new one or I'd buy the gorgeous loola at the drop of a hat. We've got a Maxi Cosi Cabrio that fits into our Baby Jogger City Mini as a travel system but obviously that's not a pram. I'm wondering whether at 19 months DD will be ready to go on a buggy board or whether we should get a double. If we were to get a double, I'd probably go for the City Mini double simply because the one we've got is brilliant. I'd love a pram thing but to pay so much for something the LO uses for 6 months-ish seems silly the second time round. Also, if I have to end up with a C-sec, I won't be able to push the single pushchair, let alone a double. I could put the newborn in a carrier but then if we go to a toddler group I'll want to put it down to look after DD, so I'd want a buggy ... argh!
I keep going round in circles! Doesn't help that we're moving about 4 weeks after my due date and we don't know where yet so I have no idea what kind of toddler groups there'll be or what I'll need a buggy for (we don't really need one here just for DD because we walk most places or drive and DD goes in the carrier.

Ooh! Happy Valentine's Day

Wonderstuff · 14/02/2010 20:27

Chulita could you not put the newborn down in a bouncy chair at toddler group?
My dd is 26mo and our buggy is so useful for when she is tired or to pen her in in shops and near roads.

Chulita · 14/02/2010 20:32

Potentially, one of the places we go is very small so I couldn't - but then we might stop going there! DD hates the buggy too, she never lasts longer than 30 mins in it on a good day! Good to know that it's still useful at 26 months though...

stac14 · 14/02/2010 20:54

Hi everyone

Wow lots of posts. We went pram shopping yesterday and went for the silver cross 3D, mainly because I know its a well respected make and also it is very easy for folding away, which I need due to using the car a lot. I also prefer the fact that its a carry cot for newborn first then goes into a buggy. While in they shop we met a couple who had that exact pram and they couldnt have recommended it any more highly. You would not believe the carry on we had trying to get a car chair to fit in our car. We have a ford focus that doesnt have isofix, the seatbelts in the back were too short to put round the car chairs, we tried the base for maxi cosi and mamas and papas but the seat belt clip was hitting the chair which potentially could shatter the chair in an accident. So we have had to go with puting lo in the front and turning the airbag off. I did go for the maxicosi carboli (think thats it) which seemed the most comfy chair too. (sorry very long post)becky and violet have either of you saw the new baby shop at the kingsgate retail park in East Kilbride? Very lovely stuff but seems quite expensive, a cosytoes for the car chair was £65 lol

Regarding lo moving I have found when I am active I dont feel much but if I am relaxed usually at bedtime it kicks about a bit. Tried to get dp to feel it last night but still not hard enough for it yet. dh21 My scan is 2 weeks on Monday cant wait. Try not to worry about movement it can be sporadic

kkfairy glad you had a nice holiday hun, how many weeks are you now?

Hey to everyone else, sorry I havent quite caught up yet xxx

Wonderstuff · 14/02/2010 21:36

I got a mobywrap when dd was about 4mo and I loved it, found I could carry dd for about an hour when she was 12mo without a problem, so am going to try to use that (sorry getting a deja vu feeling have probably said this already) so anyway am planning to use that for babs with dd in buggy. But also thinking about carseats and wondering about getting one that will go in a travel system, either with my Silver Cross or with a 2nd hand 3 wheeler so if baby is asleep in car I don't have to wake it when we get somewhere, but then where will I put dd? Gosh so difficult to imagine how it is all going to work

stac14 · 14/02/2010 21:43

wonder what silver cross do you have? They were doin the car chair that goes with them for £100 x

OP posts:
Wonderstuff · 14/02/2010 21:49

I have the 3D, never got the car seat to go with last time as I didn't drive then (don't now, but hoping that will change before lo arrives) But not sure about keeping the 3D because might ebay it for 3 wheeler.. We have go ages to work all this out haven't we???

stac14 · 14/02/2010 22:23

yeah, i just couldnt help myself lol

kkfairybrains · 15/02/2010 00:17

mlic that must have been horrible in the hospital.at least this time you know how to do it so you'll be able to get the hang of it yourself if the same thing happens! have just heard a couple of stories about my hospital regarding it but maybe they could be a bit exaggerated!
stac 20+2 i am now! met one of my friends just there in the local and she couldn't believe i wasn't getting extremely nervous that in 19 weeks im gonna have a baby! just very exciting i think but i probably won't be saying that when i start getting contractions! we'l be crying saying 'i cant do this can it not just stay in a little bit longer!'
there's talk of a family holiday to alicante in may.working out very cheap as would be a good crowd of us going and we'd be getting a big villa with everything in it but not sure whether i should go for it or not as i'll only have 6 weeks left to go at that stage! it'l be a lonely week by myself though with no family around! its only 100 euro for the flight and then another 100 each for the villa so if i booked it and didn't go i'd only be out 100 euro but its alot in other ways!
kicks are getting bit stronger already! was sittin on couch earlier and baby was kicking away for about a minute and it was right at my belly button and my belly was moving with the kicks! was so nice but i was here by myself as dp was working and he was so mad he missed it!
stac i bought the travel system graco and it never even entered my head to see would the car seat or base fit into my car! better get it checked out soon!
hope everyone had a nice valentines day xx

WhatSheSaid · 15/02/2010 02:48

kk you should check with the airline if you are planning to fly to Alicante - some of them don't let you fly past a certain stage of pregnancy, might be 32 weeks? Or 34? Worth checking out before you spend any money.

Chulita · 15/02/2010 08:10

Morning all!

I'm now debating whether to sell our travel system since the car seat fits on the other one. We have an Urban Detour system which is brilliant, I used to go running with DD in it but with two...I can't see myself out in the morning with both of them! It's kind of obsolete at the mo - the only reason I haven't ebayed it is because the other one doesn't have a raincover that goes over the car seat as well but is it worth keeping a second buggy just for when it rains? Hee hee! Good thing I've got til July to figure this all out
DD and I are off to a farm today, better get up and ready.
WSS, I was about to tell you off for being on MN so late, but of course you're not on the same time as us so I'll let you off

viksam · 15/02/2010 09:51

Hi Everyone,
just checking in really. Been to Brum at the weekend, wasnt impressed with Mamas&Papas there was no customer service and I just dont think we are in the right frame of mind yet. I felt like a fish out of water to be honest. Aparently there is a small shop in Bridport where the staff are really helpfull and you can have a really good look at the stuff there, i think that might be more up our street than big commercial places. I had a quick look in H&M and brought some leggins but with DH waiting outside I didnt feel at liberty to brows at length never mind.
Actually i had a bit of a flip out half way through saturday whilst we were sat having a coffee. My dh was going on about holidays that we cant have and how much he would have loved to go to Egypt again etc etc and i cried!! He has been really negative lately and i felt like he is really unhappy with the situation. He was shocked that i was so upset and apologised and said he would make more of an effort. I think there has been a lot of pressure on both of us but especially him due to his dad being so poorly and his new job, it hasnt been an easy time. Hopefully things will take a turn for the better i have my scan on the 24th so hopefully that will be ok and we can start looking forward and enjoying things. We have the week off together now and we are going to go on a hunt for a new car amongst other things.
Hope everyones ok and having a good start to the week. x

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/02/2010 10:47

I think im just getting worried cos its been a while since the last scan and mw app was 3 weeks ago now so I think I just need to be reassured. Also feel like I only have a bump when Ive eaten something, I looked in the mirror first thing this morning and it was barely there whereas last night it was huge, tis quite annoying!

Hope everyone had a good Valentines day

stac14 · 15/02/2010 11:31

Hey dh21 everything will be fine, its very unsual to feel movement before about 20 weeks with your first so try not to worry. Also it is very sporadic to feel movement hun. I have a backwards tilting womb which means I dont show till later you may be the same, its nothing to worry about just the way your made. People have commented on your bump havent they?

viksam Sorry your having a crappy time just now, you both have so much going on at the moment. I'm sure everything will fall into place for you both

kkfairy I wouldnt have thought of it either but the shop assistant said we had to check it out before buying, but dp says he wants to double check when we get it. To be honest I'm not bothered so long as the baby is safe

How is everyone today? I have to go buy mil a birthday present, but cant be bothered moving lol xx

OP posts:
kapars · 15/02/2010 11:32

desperate My bump also changes massively depending on what I have eaten. Some evenings I look big as a house but then some mornings I look only small again. Anyway I am sure everything is fine for you. I worried this weekend I haven't been eating enough as my bump started to shrink so I have been stuffing my face now.
I have heard it can be up to 22 weeks before some people feel anything so don't worry. Everyone is different. I can feel little kicks but my husband can't feel anything at all yet.
I didn't know this was the baby at first as it is so gentle..more like a little popping so you probably are feeling it but just don't realise. It also feels like wind!

I had my physio appointment this morning and have pelvic girdle pain as I thought and have been fitted with a maternity belt and given exercises to do. I have a lot of trouble getting upstairs and when the physio got me to do exercises this morning I could see why. My left hip is very unstable so it feels like I have a lead weight on my foot.
Feel like an old person with this belt on!

kkfairybrains · 15/02/2010 12:49

aw kapars thats a bit crap. hope it doesnt get any worse for you.
wss yet another thing i wouldn't have thought of doing so must check that out thanks! im gone so thick since i got pg its unbelievable!
dh its my first too and my bump is stil doing the same. some mornings my belly is nearly flat and then by the evening its huge! bit disheartening but all will be fine. i was the same as you re the scan and i was panicking that much that i was nearly going to pay for a private scan cause i thought the 10th march couldn't come quick enough! really looking forward to hearing how everyone gets on cause mine is one of the last!

stac14 · 15/02/2010 13:26

kapars i have my physio appointment, my back has been aching as well as my pelvis but it seems to be my right hip, heres to getting some pain relief hun

kkfairy my brain is also mush so think its commen but wss is right about certain airline think cabin pressure can bring on early labour (may be wrong) best check before you book, fab deal though

violetbubbles · 15/02/2010 14:31

Hi everyone
Just checking in - been feeling REALLY tired and a bit bleurgh for the past few days and have completely lost my appetite again. Not sure if this is normal...was hoping to be feeling much, much better by 20 weeks. Got my scan on Wednesday so perhaps I'm just anxious about that...Just wondering if anyone else is still struggling with food???

Been great to catch up with all of your baby shopping chat. Starting to get excited about buying stuff like buggies now but as we've just sold our flat and bought a new house we're waiting until we've moved in before we buy any new stuff. stac - haven't checked out that place in East Kilbride yet - will add it to my list

Chulita · 15/02/2010 14:38

violet, with DD I felt like crap for 24 weeks, throwing up at least twice a day and off all sorts of food. Some unlucky souls feel crap for the whole 9.5 months, unfortunately it's normal. I really hope you start to feel better soon!

Jojobil · 15/02/2010 16:41

violet with my daughter I was feeling like hell most of the pregnancy. Could not cope with smells and most foods. My taste buds were just off and I felt so exhausted. I think fruits and yoghurts were all I could stand the first few months... This time round I can eat and taste normally, which is amazing. I guess every pregnancy is totally different. The bad news is all you can do is wait. The good news is you will get back to normal.

Emster30 · 15/02/2010 17:21

Just got back from my 16-week appointment, a week late. Was a bit annoyed as the midwife was well grumpy (hadn't met her before) and I barely had a chance to ask any questions. She didn't have the form to get free prescriptions, didn't have any Bounty packs, said that the movement I'm feeling must be gas as it's far too early for me to be feeling anything (didn't tell her I've been having them for a week!). grr!

On the plus side I did get to hear the baby's heartbeat!
