Ds1 was 40+11 and ds2 40+7 so not alot in it.
I just think ds1 takes after his dad-hes very tall and stocky for his age(6) and ds2 is short and very slim for his age(4)

my mum had my sister 8lb 15oz-who now is 5ft11 and me 9 years later 6lb and im 5ft2 now lol

Spirael · 01/03/2010 11:06

Morning all! I hope everyone is feeling well today and that everything is going as well as can be expected for a Monday morning.

My DH is doing CIMA as well, kittykat. For the most part he's been doing two exams every 6 months, but this time he's got to sit three at once! So he's out at lectures pretty much every weekend now until the end of May. I seem to have carefully timed LO to arrive during his down time over the summer, then he'll be starting up again come September most likely.

I'm also stocking up on nappies and wipes using the various freebie/discount vouchers I've been sent. Got a variety of different brands in the newborn size, I might get some of the next size up too just in case LO pops out massive or something! I'm also going to apply for the starter reusable kit from the council and give those a go. I might mix and match... Use some reusables at home/night, then stick with disposables when out and about.

Mixing and matching with feeding too. I'm intending mostly to BF, but I hope to express at least once per day so DH can do an evening/nighttime feed. Partly so I can get some rest and partly so he can bond more with the LO. I've gone for the Philips Avent route, mostly for ease of getting parts at the supermarket and reasonable reviews. Acquired a sterliser in the Asda sale and picked up the bottle warmer fairly cheap online too. Will wait until my next payslip before getting the out and about automatic pump!

I was planning to start trying to introduce a bottle of BM once per day from around two-three weeks, assuming I get established ok with BFing. Does that sound reasonable to those with any experience? I'm hoping to do some keep in touch days at work while off on maternity, so LO is going to have to get used to being fed BM by bottle by DH for those days! My work has a comfy private room where I can go to express, to keep my supply going.

The cats are still being menaces with their muddy feet for me, GlastonbryGoddess! I stripped down the bed the other day ready for my SIL and her DP visiting at the weekend, and it took the kitties all of ten minutes to parade up and down the bed with their paws all muddy! Seriously considering hosing them down at the door then chasing them round with the hairdryer...

I'm apaprently slacking a bit on the clubs! There's several clubs that people have suggested that I've not joined up to yet, I'd better get a move on. I've signed up to Pampers and Tesco but not been sent anything yet for claiming the hamper. Not heard anything from Tesco at all, but Pampers did send me a book of vouchers.

Good luck with the scans, everyone that's got them early this week! Hopefully your LOs will be playing nicely and letting the sonographer get some nice pictures!

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/03/2010 11:46

Ive joined all the clubs I can think of and havent been sent a single thing yet

Ive got the voucher for free nappies from the bounty pack but thats all.

Chulita · 01/03/2010 11:47

Hello! Been trying to catch up but you're so chatty, takes ages!
spirael I expressed a bit just so DH could feed every now and then. We gave her a bottle at about 7 days old and then gave her one a week for a while. (DH went away for 6 months so I only did it so she'd still take it but it was a faff). I used the Medela Harmony manual because Tommee Tippee one really hurt and I borrowed an electric but I found it too slow. I got mastitis amongst other things so at times I was solely expressing and not letting DD latch and the Harmony was still easier. I think it's very different for each person though.
viks I didn't get to Weymouth but if there's a TKMaxx I might have to I also have a spare mini sudocreme that I'm seriously never going to use so if you want it let me know!

Chulita · 01/03/2010 11:49

jojo, I had an em c-sec with DD but I found the recovery time was awful and doing that again with a toddler would be impossible so I'm hoping to have a VBAC. I wanted a HB too and had a looooooong pointless labour so I'm dreading that but hopefully this baby'll be nice

Jojobil · 01/03/2010 11:56

Hi Chulita it's true. But spoke to a couple of friends and when it is a planned c-section the process is much better. You come in and out and your body is not under so much pressure. I just think that if there is a high possibility of ending with one anyway it is best to have it planned... It depends of the reasons you had it in the first place. My husbands family are very tall and big and my DD is completely him, she just turned 5 but looks 7.

Chulita · 01/03/2010 12:08

Yea, I've heard the same with electives. DD was OP, face presenting, cord round her neck 3 times and descended at an angle. My body did everything it needed to but she got well and truly stuck and I think fighting her for so long didn't help the recovery time! If this baby ends up being OP I might opt for the c-sec just because I know what happened last time...we'll just have to wait and see.

Jojobil · 01/03/2010 12:20

Same here I will wait and see. If possible and all looking well I will try a natural birth, but if it looks like it's a little giant I would opt for an elective.

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/03/2010 12:28

Can I just ask, what pains/sensations in the abdomen area are normal cos I keep getting all sorts of different feelings, some I think are stretching ligaments but others actually hurt and I get worried, sometimes its like someone is squeezing my insides (its def not wind!).

Im sure they will check everything at the scan tomorrow, its sods law I get these pains the day before my scan. I know I shouldnt worry so much and I can feel LO moving about but I dont want to ignore a pain if its something serious.

BettyButterknife · 01/03/2010 13:17

Do you get pains quite low down at the bottom of the bump that feel a bit like a stitch?

I've been getting those (and did around this stage last time) and I think it's growing pains. That, or constipation!

Had my scan this morning, LO was being much more cooperative and all the measurements were done and all is well. We asked whether they could tell whether it was a boy or a girl and it looks like we're having another boy. Feel a little dejected, as this'll be the last child we have and it would've been nice to have one of each. But it'll be cheaper this way as we have all DS1's clothes and bits and bobs! I guess I'll get over it!

Jojobil · 01/03/2010 13:20

Betty congrats! In time you will get lovely daughters in Law and grandchildren It's not the end of the road ;)

Chulita · 01/03/2010 13:23

betty, congrats from me too! On the plus side you won't have to fork out for a wedding

spidershavearrived · 01/03/2010 13:28

Viks not much shopping to be had in Poole I'm afraid - think of all the money you'll save!!

Hope all is going well with you ladies, my lo still has an upset tummy but no more sickness and can hear him squealing - with delight thankfully, from his room - he should be sleeping but it seems that it's not for him this arvo!

Did any of you ladies get a 3rd degree tear when giving birth - we have to make a decision on whether to go for a CS of a vb with a risk of tearing again, maybe to a worse extent than before - MW is suggested CS to avoid life time complications?! Gosh it's a hard one!

Well the sun is shining and long may it stay!
