beanlet · 27/02/2010 00:32

Hi new here, may I join? I'm 35 and pregnant with my first baby, 22 weeks and due on 3rd July. I am ABSOLUTELY HUGE, but I felt the baby kick today on the outside of my tummy so exciting!

Really glad there is a place where I can hang out with other mums-to-be going through the same thing at the same time.

flex last time I really wanted a boy and was quite disappointed to find out we were having a girl. I felt bad about it and kind of denied it til DD popped out and I couldn't anymore. Anyway, she's beautiful and this time I don't care what sex it is because girls are fab I think it's perfectly normal to set your heart on one but you end up loving whichever you get!
I'm finding out this time because if it's a boy I can buy some non-flowery stuff for him!

Jojobil · 27/02/2010 08:55

My DH was convinced that we are going to have a boy and kept on saying he all the way through the pregnancy. We kept it a secret and when our daughter was born we were absolutely overjoyed!!! She is the love of his life and mine This time people convinced me we were going to have a girl again and when I found out it's a boy it was fireworks! I would have been very very happy with a daughter too of course But a boy was my secret wish and was was convincing myself it will be a girl just in case.. So I think it is absolutely normal flex ;)

kkfairy my husband keeps on talking about having to earn more money now that we have number 2 on the way. I think it's a daddy thing ;)

It feels strange today as my DH took our DD to see Granddad today. It's a good 2 and a half hours drive one way so I opted not to go.. They will be gone for the day and I get to watch telly and lounge in my nighty all day... Although it already feels a little lonely.

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/02/2010 09:16

Hi all just dropping by on my iPod so won't write loads as takes ages.
Currently lying in bed feeling lo kick got another busy day today got to go food shopping as DP won't let me do it on my own! Then got to go into town so he can swap a game then get home and somehow fit in lunch then my mum is bringing my grandma round so she can see my new flat then we're going round DPs dads house to pick up an airbed cos we've got friends staying over who also have a 9 month old son. Phew! How will I survive all this? Lol

Spirael · 27/02/2010 11:02

Hee, I'm opposite here, DesperateHousewife! I just got back from doing the food shop by myself this morning. DH would usually come with me, but he's studying today for accountancy qualifications. I feel bad for him, working all week then having to go to lectures at the weekend! So, I do my best to keep the house running so it's tidy and there's food on the table when he gets back.

DH has also been making murmurs about needing more money. I thought it was the accountant side of him showing, but I guess it's fairly traditional for the men folk to worry about the finances at this time! I've been doing my best though to get good deals on everything we need, which is keeping him happy.

Only 5 days until my scan! Not that I'm counting down or anything...

DH thinks it's a boy and I think it's a girl, but DH would prefer a girl and I would prefer a boy. So no matter which one it is, I'll either be right with my prediction (and therefore get to be smug!), or get the gender I was hoping for.

Not that I'd mind a girl... My main reason for preferring a boy is that my family always seem to have girls first, so I want to break the trend. Also, because I'm a tomboy I'm rather worried about all the girly-girly pink princess stuff that might start appearing inside my house for a girl. When she reached an age where she wanted to know about fashion and makeup - I'd be clueless! Makeup in my world is referred to as 'war paint' and only put on when necessity demands...

WickedWitchSouthWest · 27/02/2010 12:17

hiya ladies!

just popping in to say hello while I'm sat down with a cuppa and a biccie Having real energy spurts in the mornings at the mo so managing to get masses done, love it!

Dh is currently painting the nursery 2 walls white and 2 pale green. Got some lovely curtains from Dunelm which are green and white graphic pattern with a yellow cuff on the bottom so will just get white bedding until we we know!

I really don't mind if we have a girl or boy - everyone seems to think we should be wanting a boy as we have dd, why is that?! It took longer to concieve this time so I'm just bloody grateful to be pregnant at the mo!

Is anyone else's baby getting into a waking routine? Mine seems to be kicking me around 6am, again at lunchtime and late afternoon (only if I'm sat down!) and around 9pm. I don't notice during the night - I sleep like a log!

Welcome newbies!

spirael good luck with the scan

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/02/2010 12:57

Im the same spirael I do the housework and always make sure there is a meal on the table when DP gets home as he works hard earning our money so its the least I can do.

Only 3 days til my scan! Well 2 really if you dont count today

DP thinks it'll be a girl cos all the gender predictions are saying its a boy lol and he would like a boy but really when it comes to it we just want a baby!

Wonderstuff · 27/02/2010 15:11

Hi all - had an awful night, up and down to the loo and coughing keeping me awake, then dd woke at 6.15, even though she had a late night, so she is a bit of a madam today, fine when she is happy and bursting into tears when things don't go her way. I am doing as little as possible, really glad it is Sat and dh is about to help out. Might go for an afternoon nap in a bit. Wish I could shrug off this cold, sorry all I seem to do on here is winge.

mrsdoyle2008 · 27/02/2010 15:11

Hello, so I've registered today and am due 10th July and will be giving birth at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Having mild panic that i should get myself organised. Does anyone know of any antenatal swimming classes locally?

kittykat77 · 27/02/2010 16:30

Afternoon everyone.

Haven't posted for a while - mainly as nothing seems to be going on at the moment - so nothing to report! And still another week until the scan - which seems to be taking for ever to come...!

Spiral which accountancy qualification is your DP doing? I am in the middle of doing CIMA, but that has had to take a bit of a back seat for now - don't know when I will have time to complete it - as things are going to be pretty busy with 3 kids... maybe I will go back to it when they are a little bit older!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Just had a trip to the park since it wasn't raining/ snowing or freezing cold today - roll on the warmer weather...!

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/02/2010 18:00

Hi all, Ive got a quick stop gap whilst waiting for friends to come over.

I dont think my body likes me changing beds! I was changing the sheets the other day and got twinges low down and was just putting a duvet cover on and got twinges again but this time a bit more painful, so am having a rest on the sofa, I know its prob nothing to be worried about, its prob just stretching pains.

Jojobil · 27/02/2010 18:17

desperate we just need to take things easy.. I run to catch the bus yesterday and paid all day for it... My pelvic floor was killing me!

stac14 · 27/02/2010 19:14

Hiya ladies

Its been an eventful day on here. Welcom beanlet and mrsdoyle its great to be able to chat to people feeling the same as you are without being judged

Went on a little shopping spree today got some neutral babygrows, vests, scratch mits, a wee pair of slippers and a cosy blanket. Have to change my car chair as we cant deactivate front air bags. Glad though was would rather lo was in the back, going to halfords to get the to check out which one is best.

dh21 you must be knackered, i only went for a few bits and bobs and feel I could sleep for a week lol

Scan on Monday yay hope lo flashes so we can find out what we're having. DP convinved its a girl, lots of people assume we would prefer a girl because we have a boy each, but i was ttc for 2 years so i dont care as long as its healthy lol

wwsw my lo seems to have a routine, as long as I am sitting down at the appropriate time. morning just after waking, around lunch, about 7is then bed time.

hope your all having a fab saturday night xxx

ooo stac I'm dying to go out and buy some neutral babygrows etc! I think I got rid of most of dd's due to her tendency to explosive nappies!

desperate I trekked round the shops in Bath with my sister and had a lovely day yesterday but I'm paying for it today with my pelvis, ouch!

stac14 · 27/02/2010 22:40

mlic i plan on stocking up too, but i'm unsure what the best disposable nappies are. With ds i used huggies, what do you use?

wwsw it was lovely to buy some bits and bobs for lo. Makes it more real, not that the kicks i have arent real lol. After lunch yesterday and shopping today my pelvis hates me. Day in tomorrow as its the footy here, rangers vs celtic, glasgow will be deserted in parts and very busy at others lol

XxX

Well seeing as the nursery will be decorated this weekend - maybe even curtains up, I feel like I can go and get some bit and pieces There's somewhere to put things now yay!

Re the disposables I bought loads of huggies while pg but then went onto Tesco's own brand which were brilliant. Dd never got on with Pampers, they always seemed to explode! Then when she was 6 months we went onto cloth and never had another leaky nappy Whether I'm organised enough to do the same again is another matter!

stac14 · 27/02/2010 23:10

i'm so disorganised so defo wont be using reusables, also have a dog who will take great pleasure in stealing nappies, so we are buyin a nappy disposer machine thing lol. Wish we had a nursery but only have 2 bedrooms so baby may have to share with ds when its a bit older or have to move house x

OP posts:
WickedWitchSouthWest · 27/02/2010 23:34

aw sorry Stac, I didn't have a proper nursery for dd so I'm just a bit over excited at being able to do it for this one. Lol at your dog stealing stinky nappies tho, ergh! I do like the look of those machine thingies though...no stink...

hi mlic thanks for the tip bout nappies. I have my scan tomorrow and we want to know what we are having. Can't wait lol

kittykat77 · 28/02/2010 10:41

Another vote for the tesco nappies here. Used them with both mine and they never leaked - especially as you say at night Chaotic

Just sat doing playdough with DS. He was well upset as DD has gone swimming with Daddy, but he has a cold and can't go. Made me feel really bad as he even went and got his swimming trunks out of his bedroom Tis very hard when they are so used to doing everything together. Don't know how he will take it when DD goes to school in September and he doesn't.

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/02/2010 11:29

Hi all, the pain went away quite quick after resting on the sofa yesterday. Feeling really tired now though and got a very ba sore throat which isnt v nice at all

Going to have a restful day today and going to cafe soon with friends for lunch then having a sofa afternoon.

Hope you all have good days and dont overdo it

Wonderstuff · 28/02/2010 11:39

Hey all. Just sitting down to a coffee and a bacon sarnie and deciding whether to have a nap or do some lesson planning while dh has taken dd shopping - lessons need to be done but i wonder whether i'll feel more up to them this eve if i sleep now. My horrid wise headteacher is having me cover for some teachers that are on a school trip tomorrow and Tues, so I am going to be running around like a mad thing and will undoutably have no time to do anything next week and I'm still so full of cold. Bloomin annoying and against union agreements, but she knows I won't kick up a fuss.

If anyone wants to use 'eco' disposables Sainsburys own brand ones are much, much better than the Nature brand ones. I don't think they are particularly better for the environment, not much biodegrades on landfill regardless of what it is made of and can't see anyone composting nappies! But I like them because they don't smell all chemically and don't leave gel on lo.

Scan on Tues (at least that gets me out of school for a bit) Think I'll just look at what needs doing before trying to get a few zzz
