Pigley fab pics, nursery looks great!
LuckyC that sounds completely infuriating with the car breaking down! I am not a pram expert, but when we were looking for ours, I loved the look of the M&P 03 Sport, but as we're in the city and need something very compact, it wasn't really suitable for our us. Would definitely have got it if we were in the countryside though.
Apologies in advance, but I'm about to have a massive rant about a really irritating doctor's appointment I had this morning. Free to skip the rest of this post if you want! Just need to vent!
About 3 weeks ago my GP sent me for blood tests because she was slightly concerned about the sugar levels in my urine, and my mum has type 2 diabetes. (Not sure why she didn't refer me for a proper GTT, but that's a separate issue!) When I called the surgery for the results I was told they had all come back normal, except the cholesterol, which was very slightly raised, but they didn't need to see me. Then last week the surgery called and said they wanted to see me to discuss the results, so I had to make an appointment for this morning.
Anyway, when I went in this morning, I first had to wait until 10.30 for my 9.50 appointment . Then it was with a completely different Dr to the one who ordered the tests, who sat with her back to me practically the entire time. She told me that the results were all fine (liver function, kidneys, blood sugar, iron levels), but cholesterol was slightly raised. She then said, "so basically you need to eat more healthily and do more exercise". But she didn't once ask what my diet is currently like (it's generally quite good) or what exercise I do at the moment (I think I do a reasonable amount: walk at least 1 mile every day, see personal trainer 1x per week and do yoga 1x per week). And then she suggested that I take up running , at which point I pointed out that most advice says it's not a good idea to take up running when pregnant. "Oh", she said, "are you pregnant?" . (This is the Doctor who confirmed my pregnancy test for me and first referred me to the midwife! ). So she hadn't noticed - either from looking at me or in my notes - that I was pg. Jeez. So she then changed her tune and said obviously don't start running now, but just eat more healthily. Then she asked if I was taking folic acid, so I said I had taken it up to 12 weeks and had been under the impression it wasn't necessary after that. Only then did she actually turn round and look at me and ask how many weeks pregnant I am. Rubbish.
Couldn't believe she was lecturing me about healthy eating and exercise when, of the two people in the room, and despite one of those two being nearly 7 months pregnant, she was quite obviously the only one of us whose BMI is above normal. (Yes, I know BMI doesn't have anything to do with cholesterol, but it still annoyed me!)
A complete and utter waste of a morning.
Rant over. Sorry!
Hope you're all having more productive days than me so far. I have to say that I am full of admiration for those of you who are juggling preparing for this baby and daily life generally with looking after small children! I don't know how you manage it.
