Welcome to the March Preggos. Here's hoping we see nearly 1000 posts before anyone pops!

arcadie good luck with the chickenpox - one thing I noticed with ours was that they were really grumpy BEFORE the spots came out but better in themselves a couple of days after spots out.

pixie always wondered how you do those links - have posted - its your choice.
as far as rants go - how about ...so are you having any more...As on no4 and bought a bus have told people were not, they prob think were planning to fill it...8seats...

iwcas sorry about SPD, my sis had it - know not good to lift kids esp. she had to learn to do things diff like getting down to kids level to comfort/hug rather than pick up - stuff like that

would have sent out hubby for lucosade but he has lergy now...please don't let one of the other kids get it 2night...

DrSkidaddle · 26/01/2010 21:51

well done caitni I passed too - aren't we very very clever?! I actually felt quite panicked when he told me I'd passed because it means I now have to drive ON MY OWN in a non-dual control vehicle! Will have to go on a few random drives by myself before i dare to take the DC with me...

P&P another at how soon you'll have a baby. I am due 20th Feb so might not be too far behind you

sympathies to henrietta and heckle and others suffereing

rebecca - re thrush - I had exactly what you describe and also worried slightly that my waters had broken . It only lasted a day and now about 6 days later (I think) all symptoms have gone, hurrah - so if you still have some symptoms over the next few days don;t worry

mummyscrummy - I 3rd the use of spatone - tis brilliant. I have always got it in Holland & Barratt I think

arcadie - oh no - do you have to wait until the spots have scabbed over for her not to be infecttious? Does it seem like a mild attack? In which case you might just make it?? (crossed fingers)

I have also been worrying about trimming of ladygarden - will have to get DH to do it - don't see there is any other option. Has anyone actually managed to trim (not shave) without seeing???

Have discovered that the only solution to heartburn is to NOT EAT AT ALL. I don't suppose this is advised during pregnancy but I cannot BEAR it anymore!! (Have just eaten an eccles cake and know I will be paying for it now when I go to bed

mummyscrummy · 26/01/2010 22:07

arcadie big big at the t-shirt! pure genius!

drs congrats to you on your driving test!

DP thinks i'm just slightly obsessed with MN, he's just gone to bed and was quite put out i didnt follow him! [hmmm]
personally i think its a healthy obsession!

Caitni · 26/01/2010 22:32

DrSkid hurray!!! Well done, my fellow driving test winner . So happy we both passed - another thing checked off the to-do list before our babies arrive. I've actually been out for a couple of drives by myself already today (just drove a friend home after dinner). Reckon I want to get as much practice in as possible before baby arrives...bet your DC will love going for spins with mum

Mummyscrummy at your MN obsession - my DH thinks I'm a lost cause too.

BulletProofMum · 27/01/2010 08:08

Congrats on passing the driving tests.

It mad me think - I have been driving for 20 years. I suddenly feel very old.

I have three weeks and two days left at work !

MandaHugNKiss · 27/01/2010 08:41

Hurrah! You two are setting the bar too high... I was thinking of trying again (failed when I was 17) for my license after the baby (a good six months or so) but I'm worried about being A Failure again!

Slept very poorly last night. I'm pretty sure it was the diet coke I 'treated' myself to with dinner (which was FAB! We tried a new place that opened nearby called 'Don't Tell Fred' (I know, odd). I had fillet steak, garlic mash (and some of DP's hand cut chips) wilted spinich. Started with a naughty pate. Gutted was too stuffed for desert! Was all divine).

JasHook · 27/01/2010 09:19

Hurray for all new drivers! Manda I know the feeling - I've taken my driving test 5 times and failed by one point every single time...for a different thing...I don't think I have the nerve to take another test now, especially with mad baby hormones slopping about all over the place!

Bluey I have never made it through the whole Wheel of Time, despite trying! Does it genuinely become worth it by the later books?

(I'm starting to sound like I never finish anything, aren't I?)

Three more working days to go, and the bump seems to have scaled my ribcage and is trying to squeeze its way into my lungs by sheer force of will. Hmm. Think I preferred the babyHook head-on-bladder feeling...

To many other posts to catch up on, but I do hope you're all coping with the various levels of disease that seem to be plaguing us at the moment! I second the "get chicken pox out the way when you're young" theory - my dad caught it from me when I was about 10. I had twenty spots. He had...oooh, about 20 million. Not fun.

BulletProofMum · 27/01/2010 09:28

I have the bladder poke getting on. This baby is sitting much lower than my others so not poking ribs too much. DS1 was breaach adn really jammed under my ribs (so much so his head was deformed - OK now!)

Sometimes it feels as if it has managed to put it's all the way throguh my cervix or twang on my urethra.

After my big moan of a couple fo days ago - today I thoguht I'd focus on the good things about pregnancy... feel free to join me!

  1. Eating what I want (I'm normally constantly dieting)
  2. Buildign excitement about the new baby
  3. Feeling 'special'
  4. orgasms
  5. Minimal body hair
  6. Not pulling my tummy in a swimming cossie!
  7. Making time to rest rather than exercise
  8. Maternity leave and no work stress!
  9. No spots
10. My favourite - feeling the baby move
Pingpong · 27/01/2010 09:32

Congrats to DrSkid too so pleased for both you and Caitni. I really can't imagine not being able to drive but I suppose it very much depends on where you live. I'd be very limited in what I could do without my car.
I slept a bit better last night although DD did get me up at 11pm howling for no obvious reason!
DrSkid I'm so with you on the not eating anything as the only cure for heartburn. I am losing all interest in food however have to prepare stuff for DD and DH to eat. Normally I love food and cooking but I just feel indifferent to food right now. Even chocolate is losing it's appeal - and that is seriously worrying!!!

MummyElk · 27/01/2010 10:15

Crikey, taken me ages to get through all of that!!

Congrats variously to the Drivers, the happy pregnant ladies, the Constipated Who Manage To Poo ; the Surprised Baby Showerees and the Generally Excited....

Commiserations to the Bump Touchees, the SPDers, the Poxed, the Insomniacs and the Generally Fed Up...

All fine in the Elk household, tufted or untufted. siamese that advert made me LAUGH!! . The Tuft has not improved with one day's growing but it made DH smile, so I suppose that's a start!!

Friend just had her baby a month early.... not the first I've heard to whelp so soon either...
DD is SUPER clingy, got home from work last night again to her being inconsolable until she got a MummyCuddle... and in the night too... Not the comfiest of things at 3am though she's managing to straddle the bump somehow!!

right things to do. Sorry for the non-personal message but it was an Everest to digest! Have good days all

rebeccacad · 27/01/2010 10:34

Morning all!

Drumroll please...thrush seems to be better - hurrah! I can now start talking/thinking about less unpleasant things. Thanks for all talking me down off my 'waters are leaking' tree.

Like congratulating Caitni and DrSkid on their driving success - woop woop, well done both.

Scary, MummyElk the thought of babies arriving soon and PandP - wow! So glad you'll be getting relief from SPD, but you haven't half frightened us all to death!

Bluey your male colleague sounds like an idiot. Any way you could accidentally spill a cup of tea on his work?

Sorry you didn't sleep well Manda. I'm on my third night of almost no sleep and it is pretty crap, but good practice I guess. Strangely I feel less tired than I know I would have felt after this little sleep before I was pregnant.

Jas sorry to hear about the ribcage. Our yoga teacher gave us an exercise to relieve the discomfort. 1. Sit cross legged, breath in through your nose and raise both arms above your head linking hands. Breath out slowly through your mouth while DH or another lucky soul gently pulls your arms upwards from just under the elbows.

Midwife on her way for check up, so more later...

Congratulations to Caitni and DrSki!

Scooby - I have been using the natal hypnotherapy CD. Not sure I am actually getting hypnotized but definately good for relaxation and breathing. Whether it will work in labour or not it another matter, but there is a woman at my aqua natal class who is on her third and swears that the hypnotherapy works wonders.

I too am jealous of BPM's lack of body hair and lack of spots. IWCAS I too have a very hairy belly. The worst thing though is my teenage boy skin - despite numerous very expensive facials I still look like a teenager (and not in a good way)

Hi all

Sorry this is going to be a bit 'me' - an update on the headache situation. Turns out it's Bell's Palsy. Woke up this morning with muscle weakness on the right side of my face (eye not blinking completely, wonky smile, crap sense of taste), went to the Doc and she said that's what it is. Am upset, but glad it's nothing more serious and is nothing to do with pregnancy or the baby. She's prescribed a steroid treatment which she assures me is safe so I'm taking that even though I hate taking medications when PG. I guess I'm just hoping it'll clear up quickly - before baby arrives at any rate. It's not painful, just a nuisance. The main problem at the moment is a stingy, dry eye so I'm trying to get hold of some eye drops. After all, i really can't have it hampering my MN-ing [wry smile emoticon]

Anyway, feeling a bit about it today but I'm sure I'll just be getting on with it in a day or two and hopefully it'll clear up quickly.

Honestly, just when I thought I could coast along for the last six weeks....

So - on a happier note, WELL DONE to Caitni and Dr S for passing their tests - really pleased to hear it.

And Arcadie really hoping your DD gets over the worst of the pox in time for the wedding. Mine is also due to be a flower girl in the summer and she hasn't yet had chicken pox - so although I consider it an alarming scenario, I figure lightning couldn't strike twice on the same MN ante-natal thread, could it??

Ok, gonnna go and lie down and think positive thoughts. See y'all later x

Arcadie · 27/01/2010 14:57

Hey hecklephone so sorry to hear about the Bell's Palsy but glad you have a diagnosis. Knew someone else who had it whilst pregnant and she had a kind of droopy (whispers cos it's very unPC) slightly had-a-stroke looking face.... but it cleared up pretty fast. She just got fed up of having to explain that no, she doesn't NORMALLY look like that.

Skid Nice one on the driving test hon!

Pixie My DD has a cough? You may have me confused.... Mine's the spotty tyrant. Glad you got the chance to clear the air with DS's teacher. You got a proper and undeserved roasting on AIBU.

Yes it was db's DD that had a cough and was prescribed the homeopathic remedies.
hecklephone glad you have been to the doc and got some steroids. Hope you are having a well deserved rest.
I just feel like bursting into tears today. Eventually persuaded DD to keep some clothes on so we could walk the dog and a woman with a Scottie dog which was yappy and nasty made a comment about me allowing my dog to run around - well blow me down I thought that was the point of taking a dog for a walk to let them get some excercise.
Everything feels like such a massive effort, even levering myself off the sofa .
I have to finish these bl**dy accounts so I can do my tax return but find endless other little jobs to distract me...... facebook, mumsnet, emails, washing the moses basket covers, checking that my hospital bag really does have everything in it that I need.... I really have no willpower. And despite knowing that chocolate gives me terrible heartburn I just keep finding myself in the chocolate biscuit box.
Right just one more pile of receipts to input on spreadsheet . . . .

BulletProofMum · 27/01/2010 16:25

can't believe that a chid was perscribed water to treat a cough! (For that is what a homeopathic remedy is)

lisbapalea · 27/01/2010 16:46

Hello again - feel very bad about my whinging the other day over my dodgy heartbeat when there are people on here who sound properly poorly and my issue has now gone away! Sympathy to hecklephone (that really does sound nasty but it's good that you've seen a doc about it and you have a diagnosis rather than the worry over what it could be) and anyone with SPD!
I saw my Dr yesterday who gave me my test results and was very reassuring and said that while my heartbeat was fast it wouldn't be damaging the baby, and wasn't anything to worry about in the short term (ie. next 6 weeks). He agreed with my "suggestion" that I should work from home today and tomorrow which definitely reduces the stress from a horrid commute so as soon as I'd seen him I felt better. Now I feel like a fraud!

By the way - which hypno CDs does everyone recommend? Sorry if I missed this on previous posts...

Hi again folks and thanks for the sympathetic comments. Thankfully Arcadie I don't have the 'droopy' look that your friend did - in fact, I'm VERY grateful for that (assuming it doesn't get any worse) as I think I look mostly normal when my face is 'at rest' so to speak. However, I am feeling a bit wretched as I sit here to type this evening - enormous baby bump, heartburn kicking in, one eye taped up to stop it from drying out...NOT a beautiful sight to behold

But who said pregnancy was glamorous, eh? The dry eye thing is annoying though - I have a feeling it could seriously cramp my style when it comes to all of my favourite things - reading, telly, MN-ing...bugger. AND I can't taste properly - everything has the texture of wax in my mouth - yuk. So that's eating buggered up for the time being too. Can you tell I'm feeling sorry for myself??

Hope the rest of you are having a nice Wednesday night - I'll be taking myself off to the sofa shortly to console myself with Relocation Relocation and a large muffin. (sod the dodgy tastebuds - I'll imagine the lovely chocolatey flavour instead)

mumbot · 27/01/2010 19:47

well done to all driving test passers - muchos impressos

xxx

mummyscrummy · 27/01/2010 20:15
